I have been looking since back in November for some lock sounds to go with the gingerbread screen off animation. It was hard to find one. At the end I end up digging in SC2 sounds and found a couple of decent ones. Here's two that I made.
Extract the sounds from the zip and rename it to "Lock.ogg"
adb push it to /system/media/audio/ui
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/16665360/Lock Sounds.zip
If anyone finds something better please share. I'm still looking for a better one.
Doesn't seem to work here. The file transfers just fine but there is no noticeable sound even with ringer and media volume at max.
I just remade them with original loudness. Download the following file

Did you enable screen off sound?
The screen lock sound plays after the screen is turned off. Anyway to play it concurrently with the Gingerbread screen off animation?

Unfortunately it is not posible. Seems like it first execute the screen-off transition and then the lock gets called. Therefore the sound comes after the animation has ended.

Hi, I'm not sure this works on every windows mobile 6.1 device but as I myself have an X1i, I thought I'd share this (in the hopes of being useful to some people).
I've always found the speaker a piece of **** when it comes to playing music (as well as the vibrator.. but that doesn't really matter right now).
One morning, I woke up with my usual alarm using G-alarm and I thought I'd connect my HiFi system to it so I had some better quality music playing while waking up.
I connected it but noticed that no sound came through the 3.5" jack but instead it still came through the speaker of my phone.
What happened though is that there was a small pause in the playback of the alarm and after that (0.5 seconds) the sound quality was MUCH MUCH richer than without plugging the 3.5" jack in! So basically all you hear when you play music is a cellphone kind of sound but when I plugged in that cable (doesn't matter if it's a hifi or your headphones), the music playing actually had bass and mid-level tones.
Everyone should try this out and see if they get the same results.
I've been looking through the registry to see if there are any sound profiles that windows mobile switches to when the jack is plugged in so I could use the same if there isn't anything plugged in but I couldn't find anything.
I really hope someone else can because the sound is SO much better!
Regards, Karel
Can you provide instructions and steps on how you did it??
Instructions
1. Install G-alarm
2. Set the alarm to a time (the next minute? ;p)
3. Wait for the alarm to start
4. Plug something in the 3.5" hole
5. Be amazed!
ps. I found another thread here about a third speaker - wheather this is the case or not, it does sound MUCH better using the non-existant speaker! xD
Apparently it's the 'speakerphone' and it can be turned on manually with 'audioRoute' from Teksoft
I just wonder why not all media players use that speakerphone.
Also I'm wondering if it's possible to remove the notification that WM6.1 gives when the speakerphone is turned on.

If you don't hear anything, press the first button (so the 'E' appears), then press the third button and you should see a phonespeaker icon (with the notification).
Actually i posted this before here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=544878
and well the sound is really amazing is true ... like a laptop it beats all cell phones i had till now ... also n95 8gb and n97.
I think the reason that it isnt the default for music playback is to preserve the quality of the speaker only for the calls in loudspeaker mode.
greetings

But the thing is, G-alarm can just switch modes (normal speaker -> speakerphone) without displaying the ugly icon along with the notification.
I think mediaplayers should just have the option to use that speakerphone lol

Okay, thank you, it works now but I have to switch the trakc and increase volume and stuff, it takes some time to work. But quality is indeed better. Not too much, though, I find. A little bit clearer, but not louder.
This may sound stupid, but I want to lock the phone so I don't pump the keys in my pocket, doesn't matter which player I use (core, tcpmp, wmp, htc sense) whenever I lock the phone (press hangup so the screen goes black) the music stops cause the media player shuts down
is there anyway to make a program immune from being shut down by the lock function, because it's really annoying... sorry if this is answered somewhere else, I searched and couldn't find what I was looking for.
SOmething I've also noticed is that whilst it is locked I can still adjust the volume (energy rom mar11 2010 cookie monster)
and pressing the hang up key whilst its locked shuts off the music also...
I have a $20 sansa mp3 player that kicks the hd2's arse for music play back... which is really disappointing, I mean I know its not really a dedicated mp3 player,
but its kind of sad that my $1000 smart phone can't play a few mp3's without shuddering to a hault
The very same microsdhc 16gb class 2 card shifted from my hd2 to my sansa c250v2 running rockbox so its the exact same mp3 and wma files that play perfectly on the sansa that are buggering up on the hd2
I have disabled power management on my sd card as a suggestion from another thread as well.

With normal setup this cant be. At least the player in sense tab plays continuosly even when u turn of the screen.
If you cannot find a solution i could know a workaround. Just use the Nitrogen Player. It has a special button for turning the screen off while the music keeps playing.
But i just tried it in my hd2. The music also keeps playing with my windows media player.
So it is a bit strange it stops in every player on your device
And to compare your low budget mp3 player with the hd2 is kinda weird.
The sound quality through the headset is great and full of bass AND fully customizable.
Maybe you tweaked your device way too much as there seems to be more than one prob in there (changing volume while locked, ...)

this looked very promising, installed, soft reset, 3 times, no luck, song still stops, although I did note that it stopped and started a few times and then just gave up, then when I went back into the player after unlocking, there was no sound still but the time for the song was still ticking along.
this happens on 2 other hd2's at my work, and my old hd2 before I returned it for other warranty issues, both with the stock telstra rom and with other cooked roms, exact same problem of the music disappearing when locked..
update S2U2 and S2P work AWESOME and dont wipe out the sound... its kinda uggo and I lose a lot of functionality of the old unlock slider, but now I have flawless music playback, so.... thats good... a shame I can't have both
of course.... just to make a liar out of me.... coreplayer now runs while the phone is locked....um so... something I did either the reg tweak or installing and then removing s2u2 or installing s2p has fixed this issue... coreplayer now plays, whilst the phone is locked with the regular htc sense lock screen after pressing hang up....
so YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY
I hit the windows key and then the lock link at the bottom. Takes a minute for the screen to turn off that way, but better than leaving it on the whole time.
If you press the hangup button to lock it, the phone goes into standby and all apps are suspended.
You really have a problem with your ROM, some program you use or whatever. Normally the Sense music player, WMP, S2P, PocketPlayer, Kinoma,... all continue to play when hitting the power key. Coreplayer and TCPCM don't, and that gets fixed by the cab I linked above.
I can do that with the FM radio , coreplayer and windows media player .
I just lock the phone , but the music keeps playing , even for more than 10 hours ( When I sleep , I keep the headsets on and the music on , and lock the phone put in the case and in the drawer and still can listen to music. )
Edit : Also the sense music works

doesn't this also disable "cpu sleep" everytime youpress power button making the device drain a lot of battery even during standby? I may be wrong, but that's how I understand the registry setting in that cab
What the ...!
I can lock my screen by the hang up button? And no, my music does not stop. On stock WWE -Rom. But, I had this issue on my Blackstone

You've read my threads enough to know it's the first thing I checked, and I'd have complained instead of saying thanks if I had seen an issue with that
From what I understand it will prevent standby as long as the WAV1 interface is in use (i.e sound is playing).
I always lock my device using the Hang Up button .. does this effect anything ?
Nope, it's normal. But with Coreplayer if you do that without the hack above it stops playing music.

d'oh, it could be useful whenever I want to lock on mortplayer, if I press power button it will also stop playback. Let's try that.
EDIT: So far so good, testing mA suction while playing on standby and while on "normal" standby.
EDIT2: So far NOT so good, locking with power button on mortplaying in playback, once stopped playback, and just now locked the whole phone on the lock screen. Uninstalling
yeah so that cab didn't help core player on my hd2 using the mar11 energy rom and 2.08 radio
but just playing musik with the s2p player, when you hit the hangup key it doesnt actually lock the phone traditionally, it kind of over rides the hangup keys function and just does a screen blank out controlled within s2p, which isn't too bad because the music keeps playing, but yeah, I definitely can't get coreplayer to stay playing with or without this cab installed.
Just a shame s2p doesnt have an equaliser or bass control or any advanced audio functions.

way to go, moron, your little registry crack somehow made all the speakerphone sounds (ringtones, music, notifications) come out of my EARPIECE!
check your crap .cabs before you post them,, thinking you kno what you're doing.
and if this wasn't your creation, pass the massage on to the maker, sorry. =] but seriously guys, be smart. check your registry edits a few times over before telling other people to do it, as a result to someone's stupidity, i now have to reflash the rom, because i have no clue what registry that little POS .cab file edited. D:
god, some people, i swear.
i had the same issue and posted in the energy rom thread. A great guy there advised to disable the cookie lock screen and revert to the normal one. That resolved my issue so i am sure it will do likewise for you.
I recently got a Samsung Galaxy S4 (to replace my HTC Evo, which I liked except for its limited memory capacity).
I like the Galaxy but it has this REALLY annoying sound effect that happens 5 minutes after I turn the screen off, or if the screen shuts off by itself. It plays a little melody, leaving the screen black... when I turn it back on, there's nothing obvious flashing up, no notifications, nothing... it's just the same as when I turned the screen off. I've turned off "Screen Lock Sound" under Settings / Sound / System, and I've browsed through the file system (using "Astro" file manager) to System / Media / Audio / UI and looked for the actual; sound effect, hoping that I might be able to delete it (although I doubt if that's even possible, without rooting the device... that's another story...)
I think it might be a 3rd party application, rather than a system sound, because if I lower the "Media" volume, then the sound effect is quieter. If it were a system sound I would expect the main volume to be the relevant setting. I don't want to turn off the entire volume on my device just for the sake of one annoying sound.
Does anyone have any experience of this same phenomenon with this device? Or any idea what it might be?
Please help, it's driving me crazy!
Thanks
Must be an app because I don't have this plus you say it's media
I noticed that the lock screen music widget does not always appear whenever I play music on speakerphones / headphones. Sometimes it's there sometimes it's not and I am confused as to why this is happening? Is it because of certain headphones?

have you noticed a pattern? So far it doesn't appear when I'm on loudspeaker and on my headphones. If I'm using my cans it works.

I have this problem also. Except here the widget is permanently gone. I used to have it, and it suddenly it does not show anymore. I have tried rebooting the phone a couple of times with no lock. It just will not show anymore.
Anyone found out something?
I think music widget is really bad and looks out of place it needs a simplified look! I have found a way of hiding it constantly
Close music player from slide down menu what ever you call it slide from top of screen.. Have swipe to unlock (no lock code) / allow multiple widgets / then edit lock screen scroll left and the add music player as a widget then disable mutliple widgets. And it will never show up on main lock screen again
Thats my way of getting rid of it because i don't like the look of it so maybe that helps you in some way lol.
I actually like it a lot. I found it. There is a setting for playing music through the dock when docked (what kind of dock? They're all for iPhone...). If this setting is on, the music widget does not appear, even if it is not docked. Switched this setting off, and the widget came back.

Seems like I was a little quick there... It wasn't that after all. After a while the widget failed to show again. After trying a few things I could get it to show whenever I played without any headphones connected and when I plugged in my headset it did not show. But now it doesn't show at all anymore...
I give up on this. I have no clue to what's going on with this feature...

1. Which volume controls boot sequence volume? I've noticed on silent the tune doesn't play. If there's any way around this also, I'd love to hear, as I'd like to keep the phone on vibrate and have the boot sequence have full volume.
2. Say I've got a 30 second animation and 30 second audio file made for my bootanimation, I've got the whole thing as 1 single part for the images. Will the audio and animation play in sync from the beginning or must I do further customizations?

Try this. You will be able to demo your bootanimation and make sure your audio is in sync. Hope it helps.
