Haha, I was waiting for someone to do that, after searching HTC Evo on Google News 10 times a day, and the Mitsubishi site popping up in the ads...

Sadly I had to give up my hero for evo 4g.
I thank all the developers who have created those great snappy ROMS for the hero.

Well, at least for the EVO, there is work being done on that by toast and etc, obviously no ETA whatsoever, and anyone who expects there to be one is crazy, as just reading about the steps that are needed to do anything with it hurt my brain very, very badly. A bit of a bummer for sure, but I do not live in a 4G market anyway (I almost never use 3G anyway, wi-fi most places I go, only use 3G if I'm on the bus), so that's not a problem for me.

I have 4g, so I wouldn't use CM on any 4g phone until it works

In that case, good thing the Epic doesn't have CM or MIUI, ha

I'm super hesitant to upgrade to the Evo right now. I have my Hero with CM6 and love it and I have been looking through the Evo threads and I'm not sure I will like the Evo now. I can't even seem to find the best way to root it. I never thought I would say it but I don't wanna leave my Hero!

Hboot 2.02 S-Off Like a Boss Edition for the newer hardware revisions... it's almost as easy as rooting a hero using the old asroot method. Alot about an hour and half until you are running your final chosen rom (including time for nandroid backups et al)

Just thought I would inform you that my Epic 4g is officially ordered, and I will receive it in approximately one week. Not only do I want to thank everyone for their amazing support of me for my time on the hero forum, but I'd like to let you know what I will maintain while I'm gone in the Epic section. I WILL still maintain my Q&A section, and will look for questions in my Themes. I will not be releasing new versions of themes, however. If you all would like the themes ported for the latest versions of CM, feel free to do that I just want to let everyone here know that they've helped me develop as a themer and developer, and I will miss this section. And please, feel free to join me as an Epic user

i wish i could take more credit, most of the images are from other themes but finding the transparency fix and adjusting alot of the .xml's was me, along with finding the bits and pieces and tweaking them, im glad you and Dean.d were over there with me since i could always ask you guys for help

Yup, same here..... I'm sad to leave the hero section, but I can't wait to get my Epic.... that phone is amazing! I can't wait to start theming for it

That stinks As nice as the hero was to me, when you really sit down with a phone like the Epic, it really becomes apparent how outdates the hero really is

For a theme? Even when 2.3 is 100% built on the hero, it really won't be any faster than 2.2 IMHO

haha its a good phone no doubt about it, but i just like HTC's phones alot like my past 4 phones have been htc's and i have never had an issue

Don't get too excited. Just because he built it and booted it doesn't mean anything works yet.
If that's what you call porting, I'm in the middle of doing it too.

I tried building the source, it currently fails. And I don't know enough about repo and git yet to work with a certain commit, it took me long enough to figure out how to switch my working branch, lol.

If my wife knew how to contact Cyan or teamdouhe, she would have some choice words for keeping me glued to my phone/computer 99% of the time I'm at home. I'm sure she regrets getting me the G2 for my bday haha.

Yeah, ask my wife about this. After ten years, she thought she had tricked me into buying a "smartphone" that was not a bb. Well I saw the support on and of this phone (G2).... the rest is history. Bootloops really drive her nuts, just means I get to spend another 30 minutes setting up a restore

HAHAH oh man if I had a nickle for every time she saw me pacing around the house looking at a bootloop and talking to my self. Im mumbling something like, "**** I hope I remembered to backup." and shes like, "you better not break it!!" It makes me glad to read all these reply's and know I'm not the only one who's married and still a geek.

My buddy had this great story in the same vein. He wasn't into phones per say, but he did have an addiction with COD for the PS3. I don't remember the exact details, but basically he had just finished fighting with his girl and he walked into the other room. He said he turned on the PS3 to play and you know that little "beep" the console makes when you first boot up. Yeah, well his girl heard that and that sound was enough to refuel the fire of the fight. Makes me laugh because I know when I'm in a fight with my wife, I would much rather be dicking around on my phone or reading XDA forums. haha

Just got a Shift today!

Upgraded from a Hero, man the difference is out of this world. Been running jaybob's TeamHeroC rom on the Hero, and already rooted and flashed strapped's SupremeSense on the Shift
Loving this phone so far!
(Before anyone asks why I got the Shift and not anything newer it's because I'm with Credo Mobile, not Sprint, and this is the best Android phone they have at the moment. Still, it's a pretty awesome phone!)

This is probably one of the better communitys of developers and users on XDA. although we do have little fallouts from time to time (were human right? )
Supreme Sense is a personal favorite of mine and as a themer thats where I put most of my work.

This is a beast of a phone

Welcome aboard man, you will see that the Shift should keep you more than happy when it comes to a phone, great camera pretty amazing performance and some of the best AOSP and Sense ROMS I have ran, I had an EVO and got rid of it when I broke it and ended up with a Hero then the Shift and I'm perfectly happy now that we have source for overclock and everything, I don't think I'll be "upgrading" anytime soon.

Thanks! I've already got Supreme Sense on it. I used CM and another AOSP flavored rom on my Hero for most of it's life, so digging on Sense right now. I'll probably flash CM at some point though, maybe if/when we get ICS
I'll definitely check out the IRC!
