Hot Reboot Option - G2 and Desire Z General

I would be interested in having this option added into CM and any other rom. I saw that it was in MiUi and I was curious if anyone here would be able to create a flashable zip or something to make it so we have the 4 way reboot option. Ideas? Thanks

You could try the cyanogenmod bug tracker and submit it as a feature request, ask in the cyanogenmod thread, or make a thread in general. The development section is most definately not a place for requests. Do not demand anything out of developers like cyanogen. Pick up a few books on java, C, or C++ and submit it into cyanogens gerrit.
Besides, CM7 is in a feature freeze. Nothing other than bugfixes and translations will be added in until stable is out.

Actually the functionality is there just not in the most intuitive place. Go to Dec tools>bad behavior>crash system server.

Hey thanks for the info I wasnt sure where to post this because although I said for cyanogen I meant for it to be for all roms cyan is just what I'm running right now that's why I didn't post it in that thread. Also what exactly is that crash system server? Crashing something sounds like there could be issues maybe?

Actually its pretty simple. You can do a G-script and set it as an shortcut on your homescreen and title it hotboot.
Basically a hotboot is:
$su
#busybox kill all system_server

A hot boot is just a quick way to reboot your phone because it only kills the ui

Open the development tools app and click on 'crash system server'. Done.
You can also long tap the home screen and create a custom shortcut to do the same thing. That's all "hot reboot" apps do anyway, waste of memory imo.

What are the advantages/disadvantages of a hot reboot vs a regular reboot?

I'm saying it would be cool to have it in the menu that pops up when you hold the power button

Think of a normal reboot as restarting your computer, and a hot boot as logging out then logging in again.

How do we apply this? Sorry guys, im a noob =/
just did some searching and found an app that works perfect.
you need to be rooted, and have side loading enabled. then download the streak vibrations app, it'll do everything for you. here
i found this from another xda post here, it disables all vibration on the phone along with the soft keys

=/ It stinks that all vibrations are turned off, but on the upside we should probably be seeing some more battery life outta our bad boys.
As for the original post, do we just sideload this or how do we incorporate the Framework.apk into the GingerBlur rom? If i sound like im retarded about this, its cause i am, lol. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks but instructions would be great.
Streak Vibrations stinks since it disables even the vibration ringer setting.
Hopefully someone can create a similar file which disables the vibrate on sliding to unlock.

Mind sharing what values you changed? Not all of us run the GingerBlur series of P-ROMs.
Thank you, good work.
Easy to install too.
Make something to enable the vibration if we want it back uk?
Reinstall Gingerblur, it should put the stock framework back in place I think.
Once again, amazing mod.
So I am excited about this option, but not sure how to implement. Without having to give up my current framework apk, what do I need to edit in my current framework apk to get this to work and if possible, the best way to edit my apk file!
Thanks!

[Q] Adding reboot/recovery/bootloader to poweroff menu

Hey everyone, just recently flashed Apex 2.0 RC2 onto my Droid X, and I absolutely love it so far. I never realized just how powerful the phone could be until I decided to get away from the stock ROM. Now that I've started modifying my phone, I'm looking into other ways to improve its usability and usefulness to me.
Basically, I want to add the following options to the poweroff menu:
- Reboot (simple reboot, back into the Android OS)
- Recovery (reboot into ClockworkMod Recovery, or Stock if that isn't possible)
- Bootloader (reboot into bootloader.)
I have seen numerous other threads relating to this issue, but I have only seen people discussing doing it to their Samsung Galaxy S or HTC Sense phones, and not a thing about performing the modifications on a Motorola phone; let alone a Droid X.
Here is the thread I found relating to performing these procedures on a Samsung Vibrant:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=811532
At one point, it seems that Fabolous made a ZIP package to flash these options onto an older version of Apex, but that package is now 404'd:
http://fabdroid.com/downloads/Fabolous_ApeX_HotFix.zip
Basically, I just need to be pointed in the right direction as to where to go with this mod. I realize that things like QuickBoot exist, but integrating the options into the phone's main poweroff menu would be very ideal for me. Thank you so much for any help!
Anybody? I tried opening up /system/framework/framework-res.apk and couldn't even find the first file mentioned in the guide for the Samsung Vibrant. Surely my request isn't impossible, is it?
I used to have this on my samsung fascinate. I have not seen anything on droid x yet. I know that on liberty roms there are reboot options in the liberty toolbox. I'll do some searches and see what I can find. That would be a nice thing to have.

Not on Gingerbread there isn't.
The Devs are being slackers and only implementing what they feel is easy.
The reboot options "are different to code now" and won't be implemented.

Really? Mine has it; and I'm on gingerbread.
No, it doesn't.
We're talking the "reboot option" that you can select from after holding the power-button.
If you flash CM7 you'll have the reboot, recovery etc option in the power menu.

Thats why I mentioned in my first post >> "I have not seen anything on droid x yet. I know that on liberty roms there are reboot options in the liberty toolbox."
read a little more carefully
Then how is it possible that CM has this? When you push the power button you have the reboot option. I had it when I was running CM on my DX.
And I am able to do it using Root Tools App. I am also running Apex RC2 and I been looking to add this option. So far nothing.
Fab said in other forums that yeah this is difficult to do, but he said on twitter that he is looking do add it on the next release, no ETA though.
I am going out on a limb here...
I think it has to do with the fact that CM is a non-blur ROM. I believe the majority of the ROMs out now have some part of blur as a part of the ROM still.
The more experienced gurus here can confirm or shoot down this theory though.
Good luck.

If you haven't already done that, update your TB, the last version works on ICS.
I've been really enjoying this build. Thanks alot for the whole team!
UI runs very smooth and basicly no log at all.
Almost everything works better compared to the orginal 2.3.3 stock rom I used before.
Few things I noticed, the battery life seems to be somewhat worse.
Also a question about the multitasking in ICS. I cant find a way to open the thumbnails? Long pressing home doesnt seem to work and since theres no software based keys (which I think is a good thing) I'm not sure what to do.
Tab P1000 and I'm using the latest kerned (30.1) with bt fix and rom.

Hi all, this thread is a good idea, it mostly works on the galaxy s 2 cm9 forum but their are still idiots posting in the development area. Codeworx (the developer on s2 cm9 thread) has really bought into it and tells people to post in the discussion thread if they post noob stuff in the dev thread. If the devs here (cdesai, humberOS etc) buy into this discussion thread then maybe more people will use it
Anyways, i tried changing lcd density to 120 to check out more tablet apps on the market but when I do the keyboard zooms and I can only see half of it, so I can't type properly... Any ideas?

I know that I used the honeycomb alpha at 120 and liked it that small. But my question isn't about the best density to have, it's about the keyboard at 120 and if anyone knows how to fix it or has any suggestions.
This is my GalaxyTab. There are many like it but this one is mine.
If, by some kind of freak occurrence I helped you, please hit THANKS!
my keyboard work fine on 120 check the attachment
It would be awsome if there is such way to force apps to start in tablet UI with 160 LCD density coz 120 is very small for 7" displays

Hey guys, I tried to flash the latest ICS build for the P1000, but my tablet wont leave the start up screen...
I downloaded both files, replaced the kernel part of the zip with the one specific for the P1000, wiped cache, davik and reset user settings.
Then I flashed the zip file, but at reboot it won't leave the start up screen.
Any idea on what I may have done wrong?
Thanks!

Z,
hi, i have no issue but, i also maintain my tab regularly with sdmaid, you may need to clear out battery stats.
Also, are you running the rom with or without the kernel update? Lastly how many background processes do you
have running?

Z,
hi again :silly:
you can run in terminal
ps
also you can also connect via adb and run adb shell, then as root [su] run
powertop
i say to do that one through adb because it doesn't display correctly and is kind of unmanagable in the tab's
terminal window.
Also try modifying you performance settings, on the updated kernel you should be set to ondemand/cfq

Umm, because it's not overclocked.
Also skip the powertop approach, i forgot to config in the kernel, i'll get that in the next build.
I know nothing about overclocking, yet.

Okay thanks looking forward to updates for this rom. Also I was wondering.. For the ROMs for the t530 tabs like the cm12 one they now have. What would need to be done to get it booting... I heard all the ROMs with the same board need is a working kernel.. Idk if that's right but if it is would the kernel for this ROM get the cm 12 ROM booting or does it need a new one?

For the most part that's somewhat true correct, however i haven't bothered because the roms are being packaged with the block setup
as opposed to the tried and true way and i just don't have the patience to unpack that setup and repack it.
To be truthful i think i've gotten addicted to this stuff in a slightly mentally unstable kind of way :silly:
And as such am running multiple projects at once, so if you want to chip in on trying that approach, downoad one of the
sm-t53xx builds, get it unpacked and repacked cm11 style and link me to it, a respectable site, not 4shared or dumbass gator
or any place like that, and i'll see what i can do. my current attempts with bliss keep breaking at camerawrapper issues and gps issues.
