What are all the cool things you can do

Once you root your phone.. I'm newly rooted and would like to start playing. I've flashed a few roms so I got that part down, but what apps or programs or tricks are cool on a rooted nexus one?

There is, I'm using it, and it's way past beta.
Search the forums, there's a thread about it, and on a last page some nice dude posted a link to a post-beta Swype for N1. It's 100% working for me.

Oh trust me, its better that I've said than the 1000 other people who are/were going to say it. I thought to myself "I'm never going to be the one who tells others to search", but because even I have seen the question asked so many times.. guess it was one of the things that I thought should've been done first.

Themes, overclocking, extra RAM, deleting system apps, installing root required apps (such as Nexus Tourch) trackball colors, updates before everyone else (extra RAM, etc.), installing different Android Phones per-se (Desire).. lots of stuff ;/

For me, one of the best things after rooting is actually wifi tethering.

New Market?

So I just went back to the NFX Sprint rom and I was installing my apps and a new market showed up. Anyone else seen this yet? It looks totally different and incorporates the coverflow feature at the top.

Its being pushed out over the next week or so. Check out some android sites they have some articles about it.

FYI - that is NOT a market apk, it is tiny gapps, and a lot of people have had problems, since it actually replaces the current gapps you have and you end up with less gapps after the flash, read more. There IS a flashable full gapps package in jaybob413's rom OP.

really? i kinda figured it wasnt an apk since i said "flash it". after flashing that i didnt loose anything. maybe people just dont know what their doing. my point was that people just need to search more

right on, I was really directing that "NOT a market" comment to the OP, since he may not know the difference. Weird that you didn't lose any gapps, I did.... Whatever. Agreed to the search more, there have been AT LEAST 5 new threads about the new market. Ridiculous. I think I may post a thread with a link to JB's OP so people can have new gapps and stop the thread stuff.

just re read my post and i kind of sounded like a **** lol sorry about that. but yeah there are way to many threads about the same thing and there just being posted over and over again. they need to make something where if the topic has been posted before it will recognize it lol. but yeah dude sorry for sounding like a prick earlier :/

that's cool. I literally JUST posted a new thread in general with links to the new gapps (my first thread starter ever...), hopefully it stops the super awesome board clogging. And by the way, when you post a new thread, it DOES show you similar thread possibilities (I was AMAZED), which makes me really sick how many double threads there are.

dang! i havent posted a new thread in awhile so i guess i missed that. im gonna do a test... im gonna make a new thread(not submit it though) and make the topic "new market" and see what happens lol it actually pisses me off seeing all these threads being posted over and over again. i understand that it can be a pain to search, you could possibly end up searching for hours. and if you do make a thread without searching first then stop and think to yourself...."do i really want to make a thread without searching first and possibly get yelled at and made fun of?" think about that before you make a new thread that has probably been posted before without searching. and please people... stop posting apps or question about apps or anything that isnt a rom in the "android development thread".....whew! glad to get that off my chest lol

Thanks again for the direction, unfortunately I have a T-Mobile US Tab so I have no dialer to enter this settings menu through. Any other suggestions? Also, the low volume I'm looking to fix is in the media player- when I watch movies, other media, the volume seems incredibly low...

Install euro firmware to get the dialer and then the modem switcher to get call/3g data functionality.

I had the same issue(s) with volume. This solves the problem, with changing sound volumes in speakers and headset. Flash as stated above, your problem will be solved.

In fact the Search function doesn't work,at least on my Galaxy tab. Hen I clidk on Search this forum, a window pops open and when I click in it to bring up the keyboard,it disappears! So I go to advance search,where at least I can type something but it always says no results found!

I've been avoiding flashing my sgt, not that I don't have the ability but more-so because I don't want to have to set everything back up again.
However, after reading this thread, it's another reason to flash me thinks

I just reminded you of a forum rule, you probably didn't read. I said search in a friendly way, and did not use any insult.
I posted a volume fix for the tab, so I know if you searched, you could find it. What litters the threads are the same questions repeatedly asked by people who don't do their work, and the people who argue and insult.
If you disagree with someone, you should say so, and stay away from insults.

I agree with you. The search process is pathetic. I always go to the pc when I look for something on xda, because its so slow or non-existant on the tab.

What did you search for? Because I didn't remember what page it was on, so I just searched gingerbread and it was like the 4th link...

I did "gingerbread" "Gingerbread Epic 4G" "Epic Gingerbread Update" and it didn't pull up anything relevant to what I wanted it kept pulling up topics for nexus one, evo, evo shift 4g etc etc guess mine is broke haha

navigate to the Epic forum first, then 'search this forum' or whatever... narrows it down to just Epic, you searched all of xda... thats a lot of threads...

[Q] stopping EL30 OTA update & reminder

I am running cleanGB 1.0.3.
How to I eliminate the notification to update to EL30? My phone wants to do an OTA update.
I feel stupid, but I don't see where to disable this.

1. try to let it install. the phone will reboot with an error.
2. at that point pull the battery, put it back in and restart the phone.
you should not get prompted again.

Also read one of the other 10 threads instead of starting a new one. Thanks.

AH! That explains it. That search sucks. Pretty much all hot topics are usually in the first 10-15 threads in General. Then it leaks a little over to Q&A. I came home a little grouchy from work, sorry.
