Rocking dj05 and jt's voodoo 5

It is my understanding that if you run the complete odin package it will overwrite even voodoo.
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App

i have killed my phone 3 times not disabling voodoo correctly when flashing roms. and each and every time adrynalyne's full di01 restore package has overwritten the whole thing for the win.
so if you are going back to bone stock, unrooted, full bloated eclair, (ie because you need to bring the phone back to verizon for warranty work) then that is your best bet. it will indeed wipe any and all voodoo whatnot from your phone.

Isn't it fine just to bring it back to stock DL09 Eclair, since that's the latest official OTA release? I don't see why you need to go back all the way to DI01 if you're planning on returning it. But I guess in the end of the day it won't really matter either way.

It doesn't really matter, all of the all in one vzw fascinate odins will work.
You technically don't _need_ to odin anything but the modem though.
For me, there was no lagfix and I had a working cwr/rom manager, so I did it in three quick steps.
1. Nandroid restore my DL09 setup.
2. Odin DL09 modem over EB01.
3. install a DL09 kernel from clockwork recovery and wipe the cache.
I was exactly where I was before with no headache.
Nandroid doesn't flash modem nor kernel.
However the all in ones may be faster if you are building from scratch (and absolutely the fastest route to stock). You should pick an all in one with the modem and kernel you want or you will have to do steps 2 & 3 either way.
Swyped w/ XDA App. A clean tie attracts the soup of the day.

trully guys, do you happy with leak froyo right now??
for me battery issue thats why I have to go back to eclair.

I agree, but Froyo does make is a little more faster but with leaked ROMs they aren't fully tested, so that's why they are a little buggy, and thats why we have great devs here that fix em as soon as we find em

I found that turning of gps when not in use(I never use it) stopped the battery drain.

I also want to go back to eclair and cant find it anywhere. I have my phone on metro and I cant get my web and mms to work, also my phone shows only 1.47 g internal memory. I bought this phone used so who knows what was dont to it. Anyone have an idea where to get eclair???
Edit- Installed this via odin as instructed. worked great took me back to 2.1 update 1 which is what i had when i got the phone. Will continue to work on the mms and web issue. Oh and still have the memory issue

[Q] An update.zip to go from DK28 to DI18?

(sorry if this has been covered in other threads, I searched and couldn't find it)
I found it on androidforums listed as a modified update.zip to bring DK28 phones back to DI18, but I'm not sure what it actually does. It's only 5mb, not ~100mb like the DK28 update.zip
Does anyone have an experience with it?

The only DI18 update.zip file is for going from DI07 -> DI18 (hence why it is only 5mb)

I believe the first link on there, you can attempt to try renaming it update.zip. Im not sure if it works without clockwork tho.. Give it a shot the worst thing that can happen is it will say aborted and wont mess up anything.
I'll give it a shot. Does it completely wipe the phone like Odin, or just change the firmware?

I think it just changes the firmware, i dont think it wipes anything, ive been flashing around roms on 2.1 and flash back to stock a lot and i never lose my data even when i wipe it..
Alternatively, is there a way to get Clockworkmod Recovery onto my DK28 phone?

besides the one click root, with clockwork, i dont think so, besides the long adb commands, which i dont know where that post is at but thats a lot of work.... But if you put clockwork on you can take it off with a simple flash of the samsung recovery zip also in the link above.
Thanks for the info.
Why is it so much more complicated to roll back than it is to go forward to a new version?

Well, not really complicated, just a few things you have flash to remove all the rooted stuff, if you use odin its still a lot of steps and more risky of bricking, i constantly see, new threads of people using odin by not following all the instructions and bricking there devices.
That's why I'm really hoping I can avoid having to use Odin to go to DI18 to get the official OTA update next week.

Dude, just look for the stock DI18 rom, rename it to update.zip, boot into recovery and flash it. That's all. I've done this several times before (although i'm now on a solid 2.2 Froyo rom).
It's a full rom, not a 5MB whatever..
It's that easy, and I don't clockwork recovery or anything?
Why does anyone bother with Odin then?
I think I have the DI18 rom, is 158,159,706 bytes the right file size?
You'll still need to odin in the di18 modem. Cwm can't flash a modem

Need help returning to stock 2.1 update 1 plz

Can someone help me find a clockworkmod flashable version of 2.1 update 1? I searched all over, the one by eugene in the bible has been deleted and I read on the thread that vibrantdump.zip link lead me to that its only odin flashable? I have it, will it flash via clockwork? Sending my phone back and want to semi return it to stock at least. Thx

Sorry I can't help you as I don't have what you're looking for. However, why not just use odin? It's just as easy as clockwork to use.
Just follow this guide to the letter and all will be well, I promise...

Go to this page to download the TRUE stock rom. I think it is in ODIN's format but it should work easity just as clockwork. I don't know if it's the same version as the one you have but give ODIN a chance, it was very simple for me and I'm practically a noob.

What's the zip file? Odin files usually contain a pit and a tar file. clockwork's zip have a bunch of folders and files, I think.
Yea you cannot use CWM to flash an Odin package. Use Odin to get back to 2.1.

KA6 is official now - so no need to go all the way back to 2.1 to return phone. But you'll still need to use Odin to get the completely stock version on.

So, could you flash back to stock with the current 2.2 update from Samsung? Or would flashing back to 2.1 be better?
vibrantdump.zip isn't an actual rom - it's just an archive containing the vibrant file tree. It doesn't have any scripts to install or anything.
Edit: If you're sending it back to Samsung for warranty work, you could always use a stock (not deodex/root/etc) JI6 clockwork mod image. KA6 is official, but not required.
I don't believe its possible to use CWM to flash back to 2.1 from 2.2 in any case because it doesn't backup the kernel. ODIN is the best (perhaps only?) way, but again not necessary since KA6 2.2 is now official.

You can flash a 2.1 rom with kernel such as fusion. Then flash your stock backup and a stock ji6 kernel.

Well I kinda told em that it had 2.1 update 1 lol, my reason for sending back was the gps and according to tmo cust serv the 2.2 release has a fix, I dont pay for a warranty, I guess its just a defective exchange. It also gets super hot above the battery when im really pushing it, that may be why they issued the return because I told them about that too. so if I cant flash the vibrantdump.zip, what would be a rom that simulates 2.1 the best? I cant get to a pc so I cant odin until wednesday and need to get it resembling stock before then. I know I cant lose clockwork recovery but just wanted it to say the right stuff in phone info and have the right startup shutdowns you know? Am I just worrying too much?
Edit: I cant kies mini the new update, no pc, there isnt a clockwork flashable version of it yet is there? could tell them I got it ota while waiting for new phone

This ROM doe not freeze, but i do not pick up signal on it. so than i went back to the Epic Experience and now it freezes at the samsung screen. So i'm guessing something with the boot and the ROM isn't compatible? can somone please tell me what i'm doing wrong?

Your flashing a dk28 rom without the dk28. Why not try reading the op of roms for install requirements and instructions
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
well the thing is i dont really care about the dk28 rom, the reason i installed that one was just to test if my phone was bad thus freezing or if the rom was not compatible with the build. I ultimately want to use the Epic Experience ROM with the epic. Is that ROM not compatible with certain builds?
You can install the eclair version of epic experience on 2.1, and its an ok rom, but if youre on 2.1 the syndicate rom is the best. But if you want the epic experience on froyo (aka the one thats updated) you need to flash DK28 uusing odin
I did flash the Eclair one first, but i will definately try to do the dk28 and see what happens. but for future references, is there a way i can find out if a phone is dk28/dl18? so i dont mess it up?
thanks

What you did wrong the first time was try to run a 2.1 kernel on 2.2 and now that you flashed a new rom that had the right kernel, you need to flash three dk28 modem. This needs to be done with a program called Odin. Search for odin dk28 modem and you SHOULD be able to find it.

Flashing Problems

Hey guys,
I have been trying to flash my Samsung Vibrant for a few days now with no success. I rooted the phone using superoneclick, then I clicked on Axura's link on android development section to get Axura 2.3.1.2. I followed the video posted by the dev to install the new Rom. It stated to use OCLF, then use Rom manager to install the app.
Well I went into Rom manager installed clockworkmod recovery 2.5.1.2 I believe it was. Then I click on install Rom and it asked if I wanted to backup current rom and wipe cache. I checked both and hit okay, the list came up where I had Axura installed on my Sd I clicked that......it said phone will reboot into clockworkmod recovery to load, after that is when the problem starts. It automatically goes into Samsung recovery i select reinstall packaged and get error e: signature not verified.
I have tried to get into recovery manually by holding vol -+ and power but still loads into samsung recovery not clockwork. Has anyone ran into this problem before?? I've searched all over the forum and google and could not find any info to help me with this. I really would like to install some custom Roms to try them out.
Thank you very much in advance to anyone who can help. I tried to be as specific as I can with the problem but if you guys need more info I can give more. Thank you
Have you updated to 2.2 already? The official 2.2 comes with a new recovery version, that causes problems with CWR.
If you had upgraded, odin back to 2.1, then root and flash a custom firmware from there. I recommend Bionix V 1.3.1, it is pretty beast.

Therr is a thread im the dev section on how to modify the recovery but tbh its easier to odin and start the process over...it's not like you weren't going to habe to wipe the phone when you flashed custom firmwares.

Rooted DI18--->EC05 possible by update.zip?

Although my stock Eclair phone is rooted, to the best of my knowledge no stock apps have been removed. Has it pretty much been determined that anyone rooted can't use the recovery update.zip or could it work? And if this method fails does it freeze phones and make the previous Eclair install unusable?
The update will fail. You should be able to simply use the one click unroot, update and then reroot as your ROM isn't modified.
Mine wirked fine, the only problem I has was with the missing asphalt demo so I redownloaded it here on xda then did the update.zip on my phone...rooted di18 to ec05 with no problem now.

I completely forgot that I actually used this tool to root and that it included that capability! Thanks for reminding me.
My question remains though about a failed update--does it still leave the phone usable?
I'd rather not resort to Odin if I can as I've read way too many horror stories about "unbrickable" Epics becoming exactly that.
I've had problems updating from DG17 to EC05. I managed to update to DI18 thru update.zip, and it picked up the OTA EC05 but it fails at updating modem. I looked at several forums and what I gather is that even though the system is at DI18 the baseband still sits at DG17 and I need to update that w/o using odin...if possible
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
Just in case it wasn't clear to any n00bs like me, you can update I think if only the following 3 conditions are right:
1 - you unroot
2 - all your stock apps are still there
3 - you have a stock DI18 Eclair or EB13 kernel.
I met all 3 conditions by using the tools around (had to fix 1 and 3, not 2) and update.zip worked from DI18, so I'm now happily running Froyo EC05. Thanks everyone for the help.
