Hi guys, just to let you know I installed WP7 (this rom) on my HD2 to test it out, and since I read that I would have to use a new nokia phone to format my microSD in order to recover it, I used a spare 1GB Kingston microSD without fear to lose it.
Thing was that now I flashed android back and I had this idea to format the microSD again using GParted (linux live cd/usb), and it worked... I had a 200 mb fat 16 partition and the rest an unknown one, so I was able to get rid of the unknown partition and expand the fat one.
Tutorial where I found about GParted (instructions not aplicable to this case)
Hope it helps.
Worked great for me too. Thanks.
Will this allow me to repatition?
I have WP7 working fine but I originally partitioned my 16gb card so I could install android but have decided to stick with wp7 for the time being, is it possible to expand the wp7 partition to make use of the partition space I reserved for android?
i.e can I delete the android partition and the expand the wp7 partition without looseing the data?

You can do this with any partition tool in windows. (like Minitool partition wizard)
Nokia phone format is required ONLY for real wp7 phones (like hd7 etc) and not for hd2 runing wp7
More info here http://lifeinthefastlaneok.wordpress.com/
And here we have talk about this

No you can't change the size of the WP7 partition

Hello
I'm posting this because I just changed my 1GB SD card for a 16 GB Class 6, everything works fine, but now (one of the goals of the operation) I want to upgrade to 6.0 Cyanogen
So, the question is: should I partition? what is the reasonable amount to allocate to keep the rest for any Debian etc.
Depend...
OK, I have the answer, so I give it in case you wonder.
In fact, there is no need to partition the point of view of 6.0, but some applications can seek an ext2 or swap (this is a constraint due to these applications, not to cyanogen) So if we can predict all at once as long as it does not take too much space (32 MB of swap, and around 800 / 1.2GB ext2 ...).
Still, I think there are people who program with their feet ...
Correct you don't need the EXT partition because Froyo supports apps2fat which means you can do it with a regularly partitioned card. However, if your going to install apps to your SD its better to flash fireats script that lets you use the EXT partition and go that route. Reason being, if you ever unmount your SD card with the system on, all your apps go with it.

Right I never make threads I usually get all my info from other peoples threads but this one has me stumped.
I have been playing around with the different roms for android and decided to try one of the DATA2EXT ones and started making partitions on my 16gb card, I made a 1gb Ext3 partition and installed RAFDroid and somehow it managed to corrupt so I ended up reformatting it and now I am 1gb down on the sd card it has just dissapeared it does not even come up in the partition manager.
If anyone has any solutions I would be very grateful thanks.
Download the Gparted Live application. Burn it onto a CD. Boot your computer using the CD you created (Google for help if you need it). Delete the partition you made. Resize the existing FAT32 partition to occupy the full space available once you have deleted the ext partition.
Right okay, yeah I thought I might have to do that was just downloading it now thanks for the help
Yeah that sorted it, thanks again
I've done the same thing and Maximillion has sorted the issue
I have a netbook with no CD drive, is there another way round this?
this might help:
http://gparted.sourceforge.net/liveusb.php
try "mini tool partition wizard home edition" worked very well with me
MiniTool
You can also use EASEUS Partition Master Home Edition..
That should do it
hi guys i have been searching the forums for tutorial on how to properly partition your sd card and your phone to use a swap partition for swapper. i heard it allows speed up performance for the phone while using some apps. can anyone pls help me with this. i just want a better performing GT540. thanks in advance
I'd be interested in a tutorial for this as well.

Most opperating systems have a built in manager for it, including windows. Look on YouTube, that's how I did mine.
Or use clockworkmod.

On windows you can create partitions but swap belongs to linux so unless you use a ubuntu live CD or a machine with ubuntu...

Back ur memory card up first. Depending what size memory card you have depends on the size of the partition
The most you will need is 2gb, I would only us 500mb.(2gb sdcard)
You need to have a fat32 partition for your normal data and the ext2 for the swap file. Then just put it back in you phone.
BTW I lost my last memory card trying to unpartition it. So if you only want 1 extra paelrtition use clockworkmod.

I think you tick a box. Download swapper2 from the market place, one of them has more options than the other
I have american android NAND MAGLDR installed in my HD2. But I have one problem with low internal memory.
Briefly: I have very low internal memory. About 50 MB only despite the fact that I have moved all my downloaded market apps onto my SD card. Preinstalled Android apps like MAPS, facebook and so on Im not able to move to my SD card. But there are still updates of this apps and Im afraid of that there will not be any free space for them in the while because 50 MB is really very little.
is there any option how to solve this problem?

Search in the american android thread about data2sd script or an a2sd+ script, when you get there, there should bin instructions on how to install it, as it varies for different roms.
Cheers,

I made ext3 partition cca 800 MB and swap partition cca 133 MB on my SD card by using MiniTool Partition Wizard Home Edition.
Then I have put my SD card into HD2 and by using MAGLDR I have installed american android 2.3.7 NAND.
But problem is it shows that my internal memory is still the same (as was before I made ext3 partition 218 MB total and 159 MB free)
I believed that when I create ext3 partition it will increase my internal memory. But it did only that some space from my SD card disappeared.
Could somebody explain me why is that, what did I wrong ?
I made ext3 partition cca 800 MB and swap partition cca 133 MB on my SD card by using MiniTool Partition Wizard Home Edition just as was written in here:

Depending on the script you are using, internal memory wont show an increase. If you want to see if its working use titanium backup. The reason for this is different scripts use different symlinks and linked directories.

titanium backup dont show me anything like ext3 partition
I have no idea what I did wrong .. I did it in accordance with instructions witch was written in american android FAQ
could somebody tell me please how could I use a ext3 SD partition in american android 2.3.7 NAND? Im working on it 60 hours and I dont know what I do wrong because my android is not able to mount that partition:
here is what I did:
1. operating system wm 6,5 HTC HD2
2. flash MAGLDR 1.13 and choosed option 5. flash USB
3. run american android setup (ACA setup exe) and installed it
4. took my SD card 4GB and by using minitools partition wizard i created:
- HD2 partition, primary, FAT 32, cluster 32k
- sd-ext partion, primary, ext3, 800 MB
- linux swap, primary, 128 MB
5. then I insert SD card into HTC HD2 and restart
6. android, titanium backup, android commander are not able to detect any ext3 partition
7. Link2SD was able to detect this partition and install apps in there but when I restarted my phone all apps installed in sd2 partition just disappeared. So now link2sd just shows there is something on sd2 partition but Im not able to see it nor use it
could somebody tell me what I did wrong ?
How could I run data2sd script or a2sd+ script on american android rom ? (I have looking for it on the thread but I didnt find instructions)
or tell me another option how to free internal memory of phone for american android 2.3.7 NAND CM7,2
Hi experts here,
Sorry to bother you but I could not find clear explications on how to do it right:
I have formatted my 16GB SD card to have 13GB Fat 32, 1,5 GB Ext2 and 0,5 GB linux swap.
Then I have copied the current AmeriCan Android to to the Fat32 partition and fired HaRet.
Android boots fine, but has got no SD card mounted and the menu to mout it is greyed out.
a) how to mount the Fat32 Partition of the SD card?
b) did Android install on the ext2 partition? If not, what is the procedure to get it there?
Thank you.
RIN67630
As far as I know, sd-build android's data/storage is in a file called data.img located on your sdcard. I am not sure if it's supposed to show that you actually have an sdcard.
a) I am not sure, so I can't say anything.
b) Find a rom you want (because you can't convert your current ROM to an ext one, you can make a backup though) from the nand section. If by (boot from ext) you mean NativeSD, you don't need MAGLDR/cLK. Just look for the "NativeSD for Windows Mobile Users" guide, and follow it. But if by that you mean (have your storage on the ext) then you must install cLK/MAGLDR, install a recovery, repartition your system accordingly and then flash the rom from the recovery install earlier.
If what I said made no sense to you or you think it's too complicated, use the search.

May I try to reformulate my questions?
- Can Nandroid mount (read-write) the SD FAT32 Partition which contains the filesystem image from which it has booted?
- If yes, how?
- If no, would nativeSD be the solution to share (read-write) the FAT 32 data between Android and WinMo?
Thank you for the advice.
Hi, I think we are in the same boat, I am running an SD version Android ICS from my SD card and it says that no SD card is mounted. I would like to know how I can transfer music and side load apps I already downloaded. It would be great help if someone could help

Finally, I found it out: My SD card was partitioned. I made an extra second EXT2 partition for Android, which was a bad idea.
It turns out that Android cannot recognize partitioned SD cards or they need a separate mounting procedure, don't know exactly...
Since I have deleted the extra partition Android can read/write on the full SD card...
