[Q] $40.00 bucks if you can help me fix my tab - Galaxy Tab General

I am desperate!
I offer to pay $40.00 dlls to the person that can help me fix my galaxy tab (payment will be made through Paypal).
My tab had arabic firmware. I tried flash European fw but since the very first try the screen went completely blank: no Samsung logo, nothing (the first time I could hear the startup music, but not anymore). I know I can put it in download mode (power swith + down volume) because I can flash fw into it, but none seems to work.
I then tried a bunch of diferent firmwares with odin 1.7, 1.3 and hemidall but none fixed the problem.
Now, when I plug the tab to the USB I have to wait about 10 minutes for it to connect. After that I can flash fw but still none seems to work.
What can I do?!!

Obviously your doing somthing wrong when flashing, how exactly are you doing it?

Reboot into recovery.
Wipe cache and data.
Restore from your nandriod backup.
Rejoice!

So you still are able to get in the download-modus. If you connect it then with youre pc, does Odin gives you the yellow box on the left side? Thats important to know. As long as you are able to get into download modus and Odin recognizes youre tab there is a solution for youre problem.

flash rotohammer's v4 with the p1hidden.pit to fix it, should be fine after that.

What is a "nandroid backup?" (sorry if it's a stupid question)

Yes, it does have a yellow box. That's what I don't understand. Why can I (apparently) download firmware sucessfully, but the problem is not fixed?
What firmware should I try?

I tried it and it succeeded...
The screen was still blank when it finished. I turned it on, and could hear the startup tunes!
But the screen is still completely blank. I turned it off, tried to turn it on again, and the tunes did not sound again.
What am I doing wrong?!

I tried to flash the P1000XXJHA firmware with the 816.pit file but I get:
<ID:0/012> zImage
<ID:0/012>
<ID:0/012> Complete(Write) operation failed.
Anyone know why?

You actually are ok, but you can be 100% with one more step. Turn your tab on, listen to the music, and count to 60 seconds. Then quickly push power button off and on, not to actually turn it off, just two quick presses. Your screen will be normal!
To get 100% find my thread about black screen with white line - I give instructions and the file needed to fix the trouble.
Let me know through PM when you got it fixed.

bricked?!? -SOLVED-

I've tried the "brick fixes" on this forum, but without luck so far... I can get into download mode, and I've tried flashing with odin from this post which says "passed" to me. After this is reboots into a black screen after the "galaxy S" screen, and nothing can be done except making the capasitive buttons light up...
All help is appreciated!!
FYI I don't have a SD card installed during odin...
Solutions in #6 and #7...
Thanks a ton

Sounds like a boot loop, but I can't figure out why you would get one with the stock odin flash. Try doing a factory reset? it shouldn't be needed, but who knows?
how? tried the "hard reset" whitout luck

In recovery.. there should be a factory reset option. I thought odin did that though.
when it is resetting I can read "mbr checksum error" or similar in yellow text before it's wiping data etc...
Try this ...turn you phone off but keep it plugged into you cpu usb cord and open oidin, next put your phone in download mode and put the needed files in oden and click start I had a hard time getting odin to work right for some reason this may not help but it worked for me. Good luck I don't think you bricked I think you can come out of this.
I assume that you used the partition in ROM Manager? If so I had the same problem as you. The phone would boot up to a black screen with only the buttons working. What I did was flash Eugenes 2.2 Froyo Rom, I surprised that it booted up and worked. After that I flashed back to stock rom and it work as it did before!

I turned the phone off while the usb was connected when the phone if off open odin ounce its open boot up the phone and boot it into download mode from there odin will connect and you can put the files you need into it and click start. This worked well for me when I needed to revert back to factory vibrant after flashing the "Real lag FIX" kernel that made my ear piece not work and some of my buttons not work but boy was my phone snappy and my benchmarks were awesome but what good does that do when your girl calls you and you cant hear her and all she can hear is you saying hellllllllooooooo .
I"ve been trying to flash with odin now for about 2 hours. It gets stuck on DO NOT DISCONNECT. And never finishes.

You have managed to get into download mode right? My device is up and running stock now, but gonna try some other ROM now =)
Glad to hear your phone is back up and running .
i know this is an old thread, but i figure this can help someone later... brick is a common search term, and i figure this will come up in a search and this will save time for others...
here's what happened to me. i was flashing back to stock and was in download mode. the blue bar was moving etc and murphy and his dumb law decided to kill my my usb port... i thought the phone was DEAD! nothing i did woke the phone up. no battery indicator, buttons didn't do anything... it was all black. holding up/down and power didnt turn the phone on and into recovery or download mode... the phone was DEAD...
then after scouring the forum forever, i finally got the phone into download mode...
NOTE: i don't recall if the usb wire was plugged into the computer or not... i think it was though...
NOTE2: samsung drivers should have been installed already...
- remove the battery
- hold vol up and vol down buttons
- reinsert battery
i thought WOO HOO!! I GOT INTO DOWNLOAD MODE!!!
the next issue i had was getting odin to recognize the phone... it didn't detect what com port i had. but after a lot of reading, i finally got it to work...
- open odin first
- then get into download mode using the steps above...
after odin recognized the port the phone was plugged into, i flashed back to stock rom using the instructions given on this site... and my dead phone works again...
i was able to fix a dead phone!! this phone could be un-brickable!!
i hope this helps...

Open odin first, then plug in your phone.

Please Help. Can't get past white Samsung Vibrant Screen.

I followed the instructions from here ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=743769 ) up until flashing the actual zip and forgot I put the zip on my external sdcard rather than "internal" sdcard. Now my phone won't get past the initial white Samsung Vibrant screen. Also, I can only get into stock recovery. After clicking "reinstall packages" it just reboots and brings me back to stock recovery. Please help. Thank you.
You will need to flash back to stock then you will have access to your phone again.. you will have to start over to flash that rom. after you flash back to stock using odin
use this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=734475
You will need the right windows drivers so Odin will see your phone pick them up here.
Windows 64bit
Windows 32bit

1. Put your phone in download mode by plugging it in and then holding Vol Up+Down and Power. As SOON as the screen goes black release power but NOT Vol Up+Down.
2. Launch Odin
3. Unplug your phone.
4. Load the pit and pda files into odin.
5. Plug your phone back in. You should now see one of the small blocks turn yellow and show you the com port. If not, something is wrong with your drivers.
6. Click start. If it flashes, great. If it hangs at File analasys then repeat 1-5.
6a. If Odin hangs at cache.rfs then move on to 6b.
6b. Unplug your phone (Odin will say it was removed) and remove the battery. DO NOT SHUT DOWN ODIN!!!!!!
6c. Put the battery back in and plug it back into your computer and put it back into download mode using step 1.
6d. Press start on Odin and it should now flash.
Also if you continue to hang at cache.rfs I found that if you delete s1_odin_20100512.pit then copy a new copy of the file over to your odin directory it seems to work fine after that.
Damn it.Thanks....
vol dn+up should get you to the stock recovery util right? the yellow and blue one?
edit: nvm, scare is over lol
On step 6d, where it says to press start again on odin, odin does not let me do this. The start, reset, pit, pda, etc... buttons are grey and will not let me press them. Help!
EDIT: also gives me a message in the upper left corner that says "CACHE" if that helps (in the far upper left box above where the yellow COM3 thing was.

You need to delete your s1_odin_20100512.pit file and then extract a new copy to the odin folder then flash again. happened to me and that is all I did to fix it. step 6d did not work for me has well.
Hmmmm it's still not working. Would it help if i made a video showing what i'm doing then you can look it over and tell me if I'm doing something incorrectly? Also maybe I should be more clear. There is no way for me to start the flash again after removing my device as per step 6 without having to completely restart odin, thus restarting the process.
Update: Still not working. Really need a fix for this. Is there another way to un-brick my phone?
EDIT: To clarify, my problem was getting stuck as Cache.rfs and never going past that. I did try the previous steps listed in this article, as well as trying to reinstall all drivers and even using different Odin copies from other threads (even though they were all the same Odin 3). No .pit file seemed to work for me. Also, I'd like to point out that I have this issue with my netbook, but my work computer where I've done all my Odin flashing before did not have this issue, and I could use the .pit files perfectly fine.
First off, I'm not anyone special (I guess depends on the meaning of special), I don't dev... I play around. That's all. So take this all with a grain of salt.
I had the same issue, and have spent all night trying to fix it. Just now I didn't use the .pit file at all. Just the .tar in the PDA slot. Immediately went through and reflashed everything and I am fully up and running.
I can't guarantee that I don't have some kind of issues now but I am now back at my home screen and the phone seems to be operating fine.
The files I used are as follows:
Stock 2.1 firmware for the Vibrant: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=739091
Samsung studio 7 (seemed to get Odin to recognize the phone without having to disconnect and reconnect, thought it might have something to do with the issue, though not sure): http://www.4shared.com/file/117435710/3d286573/Samsung_PC_Studio_72249.html
And the Samsung USB Drivers: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=728929
Now, if a real dev can tell us what happens when you don't use the .pit file, we can know if there is any longterm repercussion from this. Short term though, working like a dream. I hope this helps, because being stuck without a working Vibrant sucks!
ODIN is a pain but I've found a way to get it work pretty consistently for me. Whenever you flash a ROM or back to stock, always make sure you enable USB debugging, and have adb working on your computer.
Open up your command console, plug in your device, open up ODIN, and type "adb reboot download". ODIN should recognize your phone when it restarts and a COM will light up.
From my experience, ODIN recognizes the devices better this way and hasn't hung for me so far (granted it's only 3 times). When I was booting into download manually and then plugging in the USB, it would hang at cache.rfs. If you don't have USB debugging enabled, then only thing you can do is keep retrying over and over. Took me like 15 tries once before it finally ran.
Can't thank you guys enough. Phone is back to normal! As soon as I didn't use the pit file it worked like a charm.
hey...i'm in the same situation as you...i can't get it to work...i'm trying to do just the tar file right now but it still hangs on cache.rfs how long did you have to wait?

It should go right away. If it's hanging at cache.rfs, then it's not working. I really think its a drivers issue with ODIN. Just keep restarting your phone and ODIN and retrying.
I used the tar file that is linked to from the second post on this thread. I didn't even download what you linked me to, I just didn't use the pit file, like you told me and it worked with the files I already had.

5)after it turns off the second time release the power button but still hold the volume buttons and you should be in download mode now

S5 G900F - Infinite Bootloop, can't access bootloader, flashed with stock roms.. HELP

Hi,
**Long Story**
I'm new here - I refrained from posting as I know a repeat post can p*** people off but I can't find my problem or fix it.
My own Sony was stolen a week ago - My brother in law kindly gave me his old S5 as a back up phone.
He has never had any problems with it EVER. I did a factory reset (from the settings menu) to clear his data and straight away I was in a boot loop (Handset vibrates, Samsung logo displays, blue LED, vibrates, handset switches off.. over and over again) the only way to stop this is to remove the battery. I cannot enter recovery mode but I CAN enter download mode. According to the settings the handset was running the latest version of lollipop.
I took the phone home anyway, thinking I could fix it - leaving the battery out in my pocket.
When I got home, I put the battery in and the phone turned on, unfortunately I forgot to put the sim card in - so I removed the battery, put in the sim card and... Boot Loop!
At this point I was really frustrated so I left the battery out and went to sleep. I woke up in the morning, put the battery in and it worked fine, all day, then all of a sudden the phone switched itself off and now I'm back in a boot loop and this time it isn't wanting to work again.
I have:
- Flashed with stock roms using Odin (5.0 & 4.4.2) - Yes, I used the correct firmware for my handset.
- Flashed with Kies to the latest firmware
- In desperation, tried the "Bash your power button against a hard, flat surface" trick
- Shouted at the handset
None of these have worked and every post I have found says to put the phone in recovery mode, I CANT. When I try, the blue "Recovery Booting" text is displayed, but just restarts anyway...
Weirdly and at random times, twice, the phone has powered on while plugged into my laptop, but the screen is blank, I get message sounds and the soft keys below the screen light up, but the screen is blank.
Any body have any idea?!?!! I'm vaguely techy, however not with this kind of thing. Any help would be much appreciated. What confuses me is there was no problem before I did the factory reset.

Or try flashing TWRP 2.8.7.0 with ODIN, and then boot into recovery and factory reset

Definitely didt let it reboot & pulled the battery. Tried it twice to make sure.
I am downloading the Stock firmware that you have linked and will try that, is there any reason why it started to reboot constantly after I factory reset? It can't be hardware because there was never a HW problem before I reset it. I don't suppose you want to pop down from Durham and fix it?! lol

Definitely didt let it reboot & pulled the battery. Tried it twice to make sure.

To London? wanna pay the plane fare? lol
If you got that firmware from Sammobile, the one I linked you to is the same one, that's where I got it from, you could try some different droid versions, try a KitKat ROM too
Not sure why it would boot loop after you factory reset it, if reactivation lock was left on, you should still have managed to get to the welcome screen, but then be locked out of the phone until you entered his samsung account login
Sounds like something bugged out during the reset, and didn't reset properly, or corrupted one of the partitions, which the PIT file should have fixed
Stock recovery is cr4p though, I've ended up with a bootloop just clearing caches from it before, and had to flash TWRP to clear them properly, then flash stock on top again just to get it to boot

OK - Sorry for the delay but unfortunately I had to do stuff - I would have happily sat and tried to fix it all day.
So, I did spend some time on it earlier and a few things happened.
I reinstalled different firmwares, and also tried TWRP 2.8.7.0 a few times with different versions of Odin but nothing would work.
I reinstalled the firmware BOJ1, nothing
Tried PIT again, nothing
Then, after trying PIT I got the Firmware error and connected to Kies... It worked, but now I just have a blank screen (another seemingly common issue with these paperweights) - Unsure what to do now, the phone is on, i can call it, find it with device manager but the screen is just blank. FML.

OK, so they phone is working, there's just no display...
OK, try resetting the phone remotely from here first
https://www.google.com/android/devicemanager
If it's not connected to the network - try this
http://forums.androidcentral.com/sa...ory-reset-galaxy-s5-computer.html#post4365754
If that still fails, try flashing a stock KitKat ROM from Sammobile, see if downgrading the OS is a big enough change for it to overwrite whatever is causing the problem
Wondering if TWRP has flashed, but the no screen thing is stopping you from knowing one way or another - if we could get into TWRP, we'd have a lot more options, including custom ROMs

Thanks,
I'll wait for that to download and try.
So - I used accessibility mode to get into settings and do a factory reset... It was difficult, I even thought that the Dark Screen setting might have mysteriously have been turned on but nope.
Rebooted and got the Bootloader screen with the Samsung logo and Recovery Booting text, after a few minutes the screen went blank and the phone vibrated and then nothing!!! :crying::crying::crying:
I have just put it into download mode (I only know this because the many hours I've spent doing this I noticed that the battery and device goes cool when its in download mode) and will try the KitKat flash once its downloaded - Thank you for that btw.
Its so strange - it cant be an issue with the actual screen because it *sometimes* displays the logo.. What can it be?? Its also odd that from when I originally reset it, it could'nt boot into recovery. I'm worried that everything I have done has screwed it up more? Can the Recovery/Bootloader be "Broken"? Its so confusing, I hate tech that doesn't behave.

Does sound like a possible hardware problem, but unlikely or a huge coincidence that it all started after resetting, so I'd be more inclined to think otherwise
Just remembered about this unbrick image / tutorial

Might be worth giving that a shot

You don't need busybox, that's for creating your own debrick image, the tutorial stops here:
Flash this Debrick file to your 16GB Micro SD card with Win32DiskImager
*Insert your Micro SD card into your computer (backup any information you may have on it we are going to ERASE, FORMAT it to ex FAT
*Open win32DiskImager
*Navigate to the location where you downloaded the correct Debrick file
*Select your Debrick file by double clicking on it
*In the upper right corner of Win32DiskImager you should make sure that the drive letter assigned to your sd card is selected.
***Which ever drive that is listed will be erased, formatted
*Click write in the bottom right hand side
put the Debrick SD card in the Phone, Pull and Replace the Battery
Plug phone in usb and boot into download mode
yout phone should boot into download mode then flash stock firmware via odin
Download link : https://drive.google.com/file/d/0ByA...ew?usp=sharing
You're saying you can't see anything on screen in download mode, just guessing it's there because it cools down - but that could also mean it's not in any mode
With this method, you might get a display to use, then you can flash normally with ODIN with download mode visible on screen

S8 stuck at Samsung logo, no boot, no recovery, only download mode !!!

Hello guys,
I guess I won't be the only one having this issue. My phone went dead suddenly, and doesn't boot. It only give a circle with a lightning bolt but not charging, is it a battery issue ?
At the same time, I can only go to download mode, no recovery, and I can flash via Odin, with success, but it doesn't boot up still.
This is driving me crazy and I am not sure whether it's a hardware or software issue !!!
Anyone having any thoughts on this ?
Thank you.
Turn your phone off. Put it on the charger. Leave it alone for at least 1/3 of the day. I've been using Android for a long time. This usually happens to my Androids, at least once in their lifetime. It should be good to go afterwards.
PS: Make sure your charger works and don't touch the phone. Let it get a good 8hr charge w/o touching a button.
Let me know if this works for you.

HEY brother.
my case is a bit weird
i bought my s8 running nougat used it for 2 days and it was all good , so i received the Oreo update and updated it using the over the air when I received connected to wifi.
my phone started to reboot randomly even for 30 times per day , i tried several things like wiping cashe and the only solution that reduced the problem was uninstalling my installed apps. basically normal apps like facebook , whatsapp , spotify ,and even stock apps like calculator and music player.
today as usual I woke up picked up my phone and it started rebooting so i uninstalled some apps but it kept rebooting.
sometimes it reboots and get stuck at GALAXAY s8 boot screen [ not samsung flickering screen ] and all i had to do to overcome the boot loop is pressing and holding volume down and power button.
but one time it got stuck and boot looped once and for all. I tried to press volume down and power button to make it reboot again and overcome the bootloop but it rebooted and got stuck at the bootloop.
I tried to access recovery but i couldn't access it.
I can access download mode only.
my phone switches on itself when it is plugged in to charge , i can't turn it off completely to charge it while off.
I reflashed stock firmware and it succeeded using odin but the bootloop is still there.
please help me with my problem SIR.
and thank you really a tons.
sincerely,
Zack.
Did anyone manage to solve this? My phone has started exhibiting the same behavior.
Unable to power on the phone unless it's plugged into the charger, but if plugged in just keep boot looping to the Samsung logo.
I've tried re flashing the latest stock firmware, but this hasn't made any difference.
sounds like a typical case of the battery beginning to fail
Flash twrp and a custom rom... Only solution but go to YouTube and check how to flash twrp s8 oreo? Must watch
Flash back to stock, leave the phone charged until 100% then use the stock recovery or flash twrp and wipe cache and dalvik
Thanks all for the suggestions.
I've tried to flash twrp but I get the error "Custom Binary(RECOVERY) Blocked by FRP Lock".
I've flashed the stock firmware multiple times successfully via Odin v3.1.13.1 (G950FXXU2CRF7) but this doesn't make any difference.
I still can't boot up the phone. The only thing I can do on the phone is have it plugged in and go into download mode.
I can't boot into recovery.
If I leave it plugged in it will power on, vibrate, boot loop to the Samsung logo all day. (It does not show the charging circle)
Could this be a worse case scenario and be a hardware issue? Don't want to give up hope yet, since I can still flash a firmware with Odin.

It varies depending on what firmware I try to flash it acts differently. All firmwares I try to flash will take a while in "flash analysis" and then to "setup connection" it takes so much time. After wait some time it fails.
I can send you some pictures if needed. When I get home I will.try again and send you the error.
This is what one error looked like trying to flash G955USQK2_Stock_recovery_BoxWares.tar.md5
This is the error.

Also excuse for PM you, I thought you were going through the same thing but realized this morning during work that it was my post you replied to.
Any Solution??

its Odin mode, not mood LoL
get a fresh download of the firmware youre trying to flash and flash it instead. Get the Frija tool as it downloads the firmware waaaaaay faster than directly from www.sammobile.com/firmwares

even after a new download of the 4 files?

Bricked S8s after software update.

Hi. Browsed for ages and always come here for answers.
Here's my problem.
2x S8s. SM-950f.
Updated to most recent software through software update. Both phones were glitchy and crashing and just generally irritating after.
Factory data reset etc. This did not resolve the problems, also led to one of them having issues with FRP (annoying)
Used Odin to try and flash the latest firmware (from sammobile, UK BTU) after flashing both, they reset and powered on. Got stuck at the S8 screen.
Restarted then both were at the "an error occurred during update" screen.
Managed to get back to download screen. Re checked the software and model numbers, even that the bootloader was the correct version etc. All was fine.
Connected to Odin, shows that it is connected, but nothing happens when clicking start.
Now after attempting that, both phones will not power on.
(One will when placed on the wireless charger, but just sticks at S8 screen) and download mode or reset screen can not be accessed. So, not exactly happy. And totally out of ideas
Any suggestions, beyond taking it to a shop to see if anyone can help.
yes .....dont tuch the phones for 24 hours let the battery die ...it will...connect to pc and then try download mode....u may need to press combination for like 1 minute to get to download mode....flash twrp reboot directly into it when odin says successfully .....wipe system data ....dont turn on phone download any custom rom flash and enjoy.....it will trip knox but worth than getting a new board....
Okay, will give that a try.
TWRP?
TWRP install
https://dl.twrp.me/dreamlte/twrp-3.2.3-0-dreamlte.img.tar.html: Download link for twrp SM-G950F (dreamlte)
Just said, wait until your device powers off due battery insufficience. Plug cable and hold at the same moment vol(down)+bixby+power. Then press vol(up) at the warning screen to proceed to odin mode. Let it charging a while like 1 h. Then unplug it and plug it to your pc. In Odin select ap the previous downloaded file. Take your mobile in your hand. With one hand, prepare your fingers to vol(up)+bixby and with the other hand start the flashibg process. Be careful, and take your hand directly from the mouse if you clicked start in odin, and position your one finger to power button, but dont click. If odin start pass, press immidiately the buttons (vol(up)+bixby+power) and let it to start into recovery. If you arrived to recovery, reply to us if not search for help!!!
Good luck

Okay, downloaded TWRP, can get phone calls nected to Odin but when I extract TWRP it doesn't give a valid file type.
Am I being dumb.
No files appear that Odin will recognise.
Also just shows as "recovery" no .tar or anything
Ignore above. Corrupted download.
Sorted.
Now when flashing TWRP is gets to a fail due to

Not sure what stage your at and maybe some more useless ideas
1. Trying to flash twrp is kinda of useless if you can't get into your system need oem unlock for that.
2. Have you tried taking out Sim card and SD card and reboot.
3. If you can at least boot try smart switch as it has a emergency recovery option.
4. Trying rebooting in safe mode.
All been attempted
