Backlight stays on when charging on CM7 - myTouch 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

The screen will not time out when charging. If you tap the power button but do not unlock, or just set it down, neither will timeout and the screen go off. And if the screen comes on for any reason, like a phone call, same thing.
I have tried every setting and app I can think of that may affect this behavior, but nothing. It definitely is caused by charging, because the behavior goes away when I unplug the phone.
Anyone else have this problem, or figure out what caused it?
Edit: Seems a reboot fixed it. Probably a setting or app causing it. I uninstalled a clock app that would allow that behavior. (though the app settings did not have that selected as enabled) After checking everything, it still did not timeout, but after a reboot it did. Seems something needed cleaned out of cache or some other such mess.

screen does not shut off after timeout

so I put the dimming to be after 30 seconds, which works.
however I put it to shutdown the scree after one minutes, however it stays on forever, unless I physically press the hang up key, the screen will be on all the time.
the other question I have.
2- When I search on google, and press on one of the results in opera it takes me to the definition page, rather than the actual result that I wanted
3- is there a fix for LED notification, I installed the cab to fix that, but it didnt make a difference.
4- the pink spot at the middle, I searched around but didnt see any real solution
can anyone help please
regards
While I can't offer any help, I can feel your pain! I too am experiencing this f**ing event! I placed in my pocket before boarding for a 6 hour flight yesterday and found it still powered on when the flight had ended. I had just enough power to make and receive a call! Great.
I've double/triple checked my settings after this same thing happened to me previously! WTF!
edved.
i had the same problem what you need to do is to change the screen light setting in the settings menu

Ok. I'll try your suggestion, but please tell me what the screen light setting should be?
Thanks.
just go to the backlight settings, tap ok and it seems to be fixed..
(but offcourse check if is set to turn off after a minute or whatever your needs are)
I experienced this yesterday.. just like in normal windows, some functions just stop working with no particulair reason.. I don't really worry about it.. probably fixed in the next rom.. same sometimes happens with the screen lock, sometimes it's gone.. also after reboot, althought I find it more convient that way, it can be fixed by locking the device manually.. this does proof we can disable the device lock somewhere, I really don't need it in the case I use, the power button is enough..
good tip to always push the power button before putting the device away.. saves a lot of battery too then to wait for the minute before it powers of by itself.. the large screen is the battery's biggest consumer.. this way you also don't have to trust the automatic power off.
problem is pushing the power is not enough.
because if there were any even that woke the phone up, it will never shut down the screen unless you saw it, and do it manually

no the automatic power down is seperate from the screen lock, but for some reason they connected it with the automatic power down and left the options to choose out.

screen turning on

Hi All,
I have been having trouble with the phone.
The screen has been turning on by itself and not turning off. The screen will not turn off until i hit the power button. It will not turn off until the phone is out of battery.
Is anyone else having this problem?
thanks!
Want to bump this up ... having the same issue. I've uninstalled nearly every app (at least the ones I'd think would be problematic) and it's still happening. I've downloaded Spare Parts today to see if I could figure it out but I don't have enough data yet.
Anyone else have this issue? Even when I press the lock button, I sometimes need to press it multiple times to get the screen to turn off.
I too am having this problem and boy does it suck battery lol

Do you guys have power saving mode enabled or disabled? Just curious, since that's one of the only things (in addition to message notifications) that affects the screen.
can it have anything to do with automatic updates?
i never had this issue. before or after root. i just rooted two days ago
I had this problem before and after root. I also did a factory reset and I thought it was fixed ... but now it's doing it again.
Happens w/ Power Saving mode enabled and disabled.
I've figured out a semi-solution to this which seems to be working:
With Advanced Task Killer:
Enable Auto Kill Frequencey "When screen off"
Set Auto Kill Level to "Aggressive"
Set Security Level to "Medium"
Don't forget to put any apps you don't want killed in the ignore list (like WidgetLocker, your music player, etc.)
This seems to keep the screen locked for me ... but I still can't figure out what app/process is the culprit in waking the screen when it goes to sleep.

[Q]Screen waking by itself?

My screen periodically wakes by itself (to the lockscreen). It doesn't seem to be the trackpad because I can't purposely reproduce the wake by sliding my finger over it or lightly tapping it. It seems to be internal. There are no notifications present after the wake. The phone shouldn't wake due to background processes, sync, signal search, etc. I'm rooted and on stock recovery. I do run SetCPU but that shouldn't wake the phone. What's going on?
I did a factory reset but installed backed up apps using TB and the problem still exists. I may have to do a reset without installing backups if this keeps happening.
Does anyone have any real insight into what could be happening?
Could be an app downloading, or maybe somthing thats constantly updating. Try turn that "refresh" toggle off, its on the power control widget. Then turn screen off and see if the problem persists. Also make sure have your security setting set up right. Make sure the phone locks IMMEDIATELY after you turn the screen off.

All my installed apps are set NOT to auto-update through the market so nothing would be downloading. If by "refresh" you are referring to the sync toggle, that shouldn't wake the phone. Sync doesn't wake. If it did, our phones would all be popping on randomly all the time. Security set up right? I don't use any security. Just the standard lockscreen. The phone locks when I push the power button. It just comes on sometimes without any other input. It's not waking to the homescreen. The screen is just waking to the lockscreen and will time out and shut off again by itself.
I'm suspecting either Titanium or DoubleTwist are acting funky.

Verizon LG G2 screen keeps timing out

Most times I press the power button on my Verizon LG G2 and whatever I am doing, the screen times out. It happens several tiems (about 10-20 times) until it stops and I can properly use my phone. When this happens, the Knockon (tap tap) feature does not turn on my phone, though it can turn it off, so if my phone doesn't turn on by tap tap, I know that it will time out. The display option is clicked on always on, and I even tried several third party apps to disable screen time out, though it still happens, making my phone unusable. Is there any app or fix for this?

try uninstalling the last 5 apps you've installed. also you can do a full backup and then the reset in case your system is corrupt.
Make sure u don't have your finger or anything near the proximity sensor. U only have to have something close to it to cause this problem. If it persists and u r sure there is nothing near it then it may be malfunctioning.

The phone is more likely to turn off if i do touch it, however it will still time out even if i dont touch it. What i forgot to mention, is that if it times out while in a call, the screen wont turn on and i have to reboot the pphone. I tried factory reset with no effect. From research there was apparently an update after the release of the phone, but it ddidnt fix my issue. Is there no way to have the screen not turn off a all?

[solution] lockscreen timeout

So my mxpe lockscreen wasnt timing out at all, using latest google phone wakes up the device leaving lockscreen opened and if plugging in the turbopower waking the lockscreen it would stay opened. I found this solution to work.
Quote from another website user
Ok. So recently I used "power saving" mode. I took it off immediately after I didn't need it any longer. For some reason, the Android system on my phone didn't register that, so my phone lock screen kept time-outing after 3-seconds (kinda annoying when trying to use Samsung Pay).
Anyways, do what I did: simply go to Settings>System>Battery>Power Saving Mode>On
Then just turn it back off. Kinda like cycling it, but only once. This time around, my Edge seemed to pick it up, and register it. My timeout screen is now longer than those annoying 3-seconds.

I guess it didnt fix it. The sleep when in active is set for screen and lock screen. This sux. I have sleep set @30min so my lockscreen will stay alive for 30min.
Found a real solution that works. Found here.
https://forums.androidcentral.com/s...n-doesnt-turn-off-ignores-timeout-option.html
Some stated to goto developer options/running services and kill one by one each service and power off the screen and back on till timeout works on screen well I did this and found that Material Notification Shader kept the timeout screen from timing out so I disabled the app and I have a timeout on the screen after I power on the screen and/or plug in the power cord.
