When asked by customer service to enter the ## insert number here # code to bring up the menu when trying to swap phones on an account the Shift only brings up contacts. This wasn't a problem until the phone was rooted. If anyone can shed light onto as why this would be happening this would be appreciated.

I bet an AOSP one. Those dialer codes only work in roms with Sense framework. And if I'm not mistaken, not Sense ports either. At least not all of them.

I've tried every combination of numbers that I can possibly think of and so far nothing works yet.
I haven't found cdma workshop for a Mac yet, and I refuse to own a Windows computer.

No, I don't refuse to unlock my phone. And I don't have a copy of Windo$e.
I just flashed to Cyanogen and my phone status screen is showing the wrong phone number. How do I change this? I had the number changed on my Evo a few weeks ago and the rep had me type some numbers into the dialer but I guess the settings dont stay after a flash.
bump to the top
No one knows how to change this at all?
Search for EPST

Thanks, Ive found alot of info but none of it helps me. I installed EPST 2.1 and it still doenst respond to ##778# or ##775#. I can get to the phone info settings where the SMSC can be changed and it shows my incorrect phone number on that screen but wont allow me to change it.

First do a nan backup then flash a sense Rom, this is The only way the above codes will work, I think. I think you can change it in *#*3282#*#
You will need the msl number to edit it. Just call and ask sprint for it (I think its called msl)

There's also an app in the Market for MSL.

i also had this problem on my mytouch 3g slide but after installing a ROM i had the optiong to set my number, Maybe one of the current ROMS for the MT4G have this option? if yes please tell me.
i have this too, it's kinda weird but it's not like you dont know your own phone # LOL. Did you check your screen yet?
Yea my screen is good.
I know its not a big deal but it still helps to use certain apps.

Sure it does when the app uses your # to link to your know contacts with the app so u don't have to register with yet another user name and password. Idk what rom your running, but go into call settings and additional, settings and put your # there
I am currently running stock, i know about that additional information but it doesn't seem to be there in the stock ROM :S, that is why i was asking if it is there with any of the other ROMs such as glacier or cm6/7
Cm6 and 7 does bro. I didn't have to do it on stock. Shrug
menu > settings > call settings > additional settings > my phone number > type it in and your good to go.

I am planning to buy HTC MyTouch 4G soon.
Before that I want to ensure the following.
Is it possible to enter numbers in dialer using the optical track ball by moving the cursor?
I used to enter numbers using the direction keys in a Huawei mobile phone i had.
Entering numbers in touch screen may be superior but i have special needs to be eyes free on the phone while working.
Thats why
Your findings would be the deciding factors for me so please help me.

Just tried on my wifes phone which is stock 2.2.1 and you are unable to use the trackpad to select numbers. Conversely, I am using faux123's aosp rom and you can use the trackpad to select numbers and make the call. Only thing is when you open up the dialer, it opens on your call log first, so you have to scroll to the left for the dialer and then down...you may want to stick to a physical keyboard to ensure accuracy though...

While you working, are you ok to use voice commands? MyTouch has Genius button, that seems to work nice for me.
Long press button, Say "Call *name*" and it works.

Thank you very much for your quick reply.
So you are able to select numbers via vanilla Android Dialer and are not able select numbers via HTC Sense dialer using the optical trackball.
Am i right ?
Once again i sincerely appreciate your efforts.

Actually my problem lies in dialing phone numbers not already stored in my mobile phone's address book.
I use Cyberion Voice Speed Dial to dial phone numbers that are already stored in the mobile phone.

Try to say a 11 or 10 digit number and check it's accuracy.
Like 08026783377 Or 09475635452.

Hey, did you know that there is a Mytouch Slide that is out now on the tmobile website that has a full slide out keyboard...I think that would be the way to go
Actually I hold and use mobile phones single handedly.
so slide out keyboards are not comfortable for me

Is there a way to use the phone with a rom for wi-fi only use? I don't want my phone number associated with the phone, I did a factory reset and installed CM on it but it still shows my phone number.

If its activated, then it will show your phone number, that info is stored in a separate partition from /data (this is cleared with a "factory reset") and from /system (this is where roms are installed to)
Either use the Ubersonic Inactive Device ROM or cancel/deactivate the phones cellular account.
Even if you cancel /deactivate the account the old number will be shown. The only way to get rid of the number is to remove it with qpst. That is a bunch of work with no real gain. Just don't worry about it and use any rom of your choice.

Even if the phone was deactivated and then wiped, it would still come up?
The phones number? Not the ESN/MEID

Yes that is what we all have said. Yet you can edit out the phone number in qpst. Then only thing shown on a rom would be the esn/meid.

Good question OP, it is a somewhat obscure topic.
I'm not going to try and tell you what you should or shouldn't worry about.
Do what you want.
If you decide it to be necessary here is the concept you need that can be done from your phone.
http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php/1729751-Intercept-Factory-Reset-AND-erase-phone-number
Do this after ##786#
##YourMSL#
Fill both lines (MDN/MSID) with anything.
Menu
Commit Modifications
Reboot
Done
Now check your MDN
looks like the ubersonic rom might be what I'm looking for, going to give it a try!
Thanks for suggesting that.

Yeah, that's what I would do.
Just got it installed, looks like that is what I was looking for. Going to use it at work with a generic Pandora login for everyone in my area to use. Thanks again for the suggestion!
Thank you to the OP for this idea... I didn't even think to use my old evo as a wifi pandora radio. I knew I kept this thing around for a reason
What I do is toggle airplane mode "on" then toggle WiFi "on". This shuts off the phones radio and some other things that really drain your battery. I have kept mine on for almost 3 days without it dying.
