Looking at the partitions of my tab I see that the data has roughly 2 GB of space.
Is there a way to resize so that the data has only 1 GB and the freed up space can be added to sdcard?
Not sure i understand what you mean. You want to move 1GB of your internal storage to your SD card?

it says not enough memory.is it same for you too?
I haven't had this on the SGS2 as it has 16GB of internal memory but if you're having trouble then download something like this which will allow you to move all apps to sd.

Failing that use the ADB script that is floating around on the forum.
Just make sure you don't move widgets or live wallpapers to the SD card or they won't work at startup.
app2sd didnt work.it is still same.and when i checked my phones storage it shows:
total space: 11.50gb
why not 16gb?
Some space is reserved for System data, some space is reserved for Personal data, and some space is reserved for Application data, so you only end up with about 11GB of usable space. I know this to be the case for the Tab so I presume it'll be the same for the SGS2.
I also believe you need root access to use stuff like app2sd?

Click to collapse
Because there is space reserved for the ROM/OS and for Apps. 11.50GB is the internal SD. You also have about 2GB of space for apps. And some space is for the OS I believe.
i see.maybe that not enough error because of,system doesnt see the 11gb phone storage as an external storage and it means you dont have an sdcard so you dont have enough space?
I don't have an SGS2, but as I believe it is pretty much the same as the SGS1 which I do have.
apps2SD is for moving apps to a removable SD card. If you don't have an SD card in how do you expect to move to it?
The internal SD card is partitioned into several drives, for the rom, cache and includes a 2GB drive for installing applications to. After this it has about 11.5GB left for personal use, eg music, pictures, whatever. None of these partitions are considered the external SD.
Personally, I have never found a need to actually use apps2sd on the original and I can't see much need on the S2.
My nook has 7.0.3 encore stable, 4 GB card, and I was wondering if there was a way to increase the SD card space in Android to greater than 39 MB.
On my computer, I did extend the partition, but the extended area shows up as the internal storage, and I need the SD card space for some apps.
thanks
R u running CM7 from eMMC or booting it off uSD?
Do pls indicate clearly
I am booting CM7 off of the uSD card
If so, you should have at least 110MB+ space on "boot", roughly about 1GB for /data and /system and the rest, probably 2GB+ left over, for your own use.
Use a tool such as Minitool Partition Wizard, to extend the 4th partition on your SD card all the way to the max. You should get roughly over 3 GB of space on a 4GB card when running off uSD.
what I'm talking about is the "virtual" SD card that android recognizes. I did extend the fourth partition, but the space for my stuff goes under internal storage. is there a way I can make some of that space go under SD card that android recognizes?
did you ever get an answer or figure this out? I have been searching for 2 days and cannot find info on which partition CM7 thinks is "the phone" for the purpose of installing apps. I get 2-3 on then it says I am out of space.
Yes, when I used a 32 gB card, the internal storgae partition was about one gb, and my SD card partition (inside android) was 28 gb
So I guess it would depend on the sizeof your SD card?
Thanks for this thread guys!!
Minitool partition allowed me to upgrade my 8Gb microSD to at 32Gb microSD.
Now I can REALLY load those PDFs, ebooks, and music onto my Nookcolor's Android C7.
hi to all,
i am using sensation xl rom on my htc leo (hd2).
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1316632
and i have a 8 gb memory card (sd).
i format the card with 1 gb linux ext2. when i look from pc, i see that
used: 543,4 MB
free : 554,7 MB
but always have a problem with storage area on my phone while i am installing a new apps. all my apps are removed to sd card. and when i check my space from phone, it says just 48MB free area in internal device area ((
is it normal or did i do something wrong? how i can make it larger?
thank you all in advance
any comments?
still waiting for a comment
It is normal in international version HD2, ROM+Caches+Personal data almost full 250MB internal memory. I suggest you using ext3, it would save your internal memory.
How to use internal SD memory after flashing the partition.zip, that changes internal memory to 1.4 GB. I did it to try Mlora. phone memory was around 690 MB. So that should still leave me with around 1 GB Internal Sd memory. But I am unable to use that. Is it because that memory is unformatted?? Where did that go? how to bring it back? Any help / knowledge appreciated...Thanks..
Ok, I am pulling my hair out. I only have about a gig of internal space left. I put in a few different SD cards... two are 32 GB and one is 64 GB. I can only move a few apps to the SD Card and then I get a message stating "Not enough storage space." I know I'm not out of space. I only moved a few apps. I check anyways. Still shows there's over 30 GB of the 32 GB card free. I've swapped out the card. I have 3 of them. All are doing the same thing. I just went to the extreme earlier. I rooted the tab A (It wasn't rooted earlier today and I've been having this problem for 2 days.) I then tried to use link2sd and same exact problem. I have the 2 partitions. Both are fat32. One is 31 GB and second is 1 GB. I'll link a few apps over. Then I'll get the same error. "Not enough storage space." Well, apps2sd gives a slightly different error... "Unable to copy Data. No space left on destination." Opening a drive free space app, it shows I have 28.57 GB of 28.69 GB free.
Why are you partitioning the sdcard with 2 FAT32 partitions, in particular 1gb?
When usink link2sd You should be using exFAT for the second partition and the first should be ext 2,3 or 4. Recommended ext2.
I'm also confused how you can possibly have a 31gb and 1gb partition on a 32gb sd card that will only yield 29gb at best.
Rather than link2sd maybe you should consider adoptable storage.
