hi to all,
i am using sensation xl rom on my htc leo (hd2).
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1316632
and i have a 8 gb memory card (sd).
i format the card with 1 gb linux ext2. when i look from pc, i see that
used: 543,4 MB
free : 554,7 MB
but always have a problem with storage area on my phone while i am installing a new apps. all my apps are removed to sd card. and when i check my space from phone, it says just 48MB free area in internal device area ((
is it normal or did i do something wrong? how i can make it larger?
thank you all in advance
any comments?
still waiting for a comment
It is normal in international version HD2, ROM+Caches+Personal data almost full 250MB internal memory. I suggest you using ext3, it would save your internal memory.

Because there are some apps that you cant simply move to the ext partition and have to be installed on internal memory i.e. gmail, youtube and updates!
yes I know that! thank you ...but I hade all that apps when installed new rom...3days internal phone memoty was 161mb and after that installed only games (apps 2 sd always aksked me to move to sd and succesfully moved them)..on phone list apps is onlu market and 3gwatchdog...on SD apps list is everything i downloaded but still dont have 161mb ...now there is 142mb and still shrinking!!! How about now???
app2sd or similar isn't moving all app-data to sd I think

Yes,but moveSD enabler does. App2SD only ask for some app's
the "problem" is, move2sd creates a sort of "link" to the data on the SD card. Thus, when you install lets say an app of 15MB, 14MB goes to the SD card, but 1MB of data (files that can't be run of the SD card + link to SD card) stays on your internal phone memory.
So when you install lets say 100 apps, that all have 1MB of essential data and 14 MB of move-to-sd-able data your internal storage shrinks by 100MB and your SD cards' storage shrinks by 1400MB.
Its shrinking because app data is still stored on internal memory.
Please post in correct section. This has nothing to do with development.

Finally wright answer . . .
Okay, I use MDJ's CM7 2.4 build and I saw that to increase my internal memory for more apps I need to install Ext3/4 on my SD card. I think I did that successfully because it seemse that the apps don't use up much internal memory anymore and my SD card shows that it has 7 gigs of free space (I have a 8 gig card) so I presume the other 1gig is ext3. The problem is I cannot explore this partition. I searched but found nothing that could help me. Also if I decide to delete this partition what do I do? I tried formatting my card but it still shows 7 gigs. Thanks for all who decide to help me .
Hey,
Yh, I know: another app2sd+ question...
Tried using the search button, but did not find what I was searching for
I'm using the TyphooN CyanogenMod7 RC2 v2.5.5 ROM on my HD2 and was running low on internal memomy and used to send apps to my sd card, but some wouldn't not work and my internal memomery was low on memory.
So I decided to partition my 8GB scandisk sd card:
6.7 gb FAT32 en 800mb ext2
After I did that, I used a clean instal of TyphooN CyanogenMod ROM and everyhting works .
When I go to applications and then applications managing, I see that my internal memory is just 244 mb and my external memory 6.5 gb.
But what I don't understand :
Who do I move downloaded applications from my phone to the ext2 partition on my sd card instead on the fat32 partition ?
Does this (moving to ext2 partition) happen automatically when I download apps and move them to the SD card ?
The ext partition is considered internal, so if you manually move an app to the SD card, it will go from the ext partition to the fat partition and many wont work. When you have an ext partition you don't need to do anything. The rom will use the ext itself.
When you look at internal memory size it wont show the ext space, only the actual internal space. Say you instal a ten Meg app, that figure goes down ten even though its installed to ext, but it will go back up ten next reboot.
Thank you very much !
That was very clear, didn't find this somewhere else
i just installed LEO "Stock" NAND Android ROM on my tmobile hd2. im wondering what happened to my 16 gb of internal storage. I dont have an sd card, and im left with 518 mb of storage. so my questions are,
1. where did my 16 gb go, and how do i get some of it back?
and
2. how can i make the phone think some of my internal is an sd. in order to download some market place games that require sd?
your phone doesnt have 16gb of storage it has 1gb rom storage

Hi,
You have four different storage areas. In order to see what you have got and where it is, download and install Titanium Backup.
When you open up this program, it will display:
System
Internal
SD card
EXT. On the sd card

am I missing something here? the move to SD function seems absolutely worthless to me. I installed today's update and downloaded a 1gig game I wanted to try out. It downloaded and installed and I noticed that it is still taking up 1gig of internal storage on the phone. I went in to Application Manager, moved it to the SD card, but it is STILL taking up 1gig with only about 10meg moved over to the physical SD card despite App Info saying:
Total: 0.99 GB
Application: 1.39 MB
SD card app: 0.99 GB
Data: 0.00 B
SD card data: 0.00 B
Despite it saying SD card app: 0.99GB, that whole 1gig is sitting in the phone's internal memory and not on the SD card. My phone's internal memory is down a gig and the SD card's available storage didn't change at all.
this makes it seem more like a gimmick here to say the phone supports app2SD but it really doesn't and everything still resides in /storage/emulated/0 instead of on extSdCard like you'd think it should.
Any suggestions or help here would be greatly appreciated.
My understanding is that it only moves the ,apk itself and data stays on internal memory

That's very misleading then, especially to say "SD card app" when its still actually on the phone's internal memory ... Almost makes it a complete waste ... 10meg APK and 990meg data file ... Its the data file we'd want to move ...
Very much agreed, however, data and cache being run from the sd has been unstable in the past also potential data loss in the event of sd failure etc. These are the reasons that Google discontinued apps to sd to start with.
If you have root you can try using the foldermount app to move data to the sd, or if you wanna move more things to sd you can try this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2285221 , I have done this to the letter and it's works very good!.
