I use nebula rom because battery life is more important to me than themes.

Wait for at minimum 1 week from today to even consider a rom. We are getting official froyo on Monday. Literally ANYTHING built on top of official Froyo will be better than this leaked froyo business. I suggest updating her to official stock froyo when it is released, and then coming back in a month or so and checking out what the coolest kernel is that is available, since that affects battery life much more than slight rom adjustments.
I agree. If we really are getting froyo Monday then no.need to update to dk28. Just wait a little bit.

How do you know we are getting the official Froyo on Monday. Hasnt there been solid release dates before and flopped?
Sprint has never been behind the previous release dates. Sprint finally has a date for this update on their dealer's website.
I suggest midNIGHT.

Pfft a month? I give it until this time Tomorrow to see most ROMs up to speed with EB13, and a week or two before we see some mature custom kernels.
(Based on us having the update tomorrow)
I suggest Epic Experience. Ive tried others and had problems with all of them. Epic Experience ran the smoothest for me and is fairly close to stock. The others seem to be more about 'pushing the envelope and that will usually produce more bugs.
I'll personally be trying ACS though as soon as they get a froyo rom.

I was just at the sprint store and they were bummed about having to open all the epic's to update them. They figured that this Froyo has sprint ID. So I would skip the ota if I were you.

Well the HTC EVO 4G received their official OTA yesterday from sprint and we are scheduled to get it by the end of this month as well which means custom gingersense kernels will come soon after. Just putting this out there for people who want to know the news about the update and yes the OTA will break root.
Right on, which also means that the Unrevoked team will have to work on their root exploits AFTER the OTA to once again achieve root. Hopefully it won't be like the last OTA (or 2 OTA's ago?) where it broke root, and there were nothing but threads about not having it...you'd a thought people were going to die, and all they had to do was wait about a week or so.
My question is, can it put you S-ON? Because even the RUU can't do that. So even if you were on a stock rom, with S-OFF, and received the OTA, you could still root through CWM.
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
What does that mean for us that are rooted and running custom Rom's? If I were to just let it run the OTA with root and custom Rom? Would it just overwrite the whole phone with new update and replace everything on my phone with updated stock gingerbread/Rom? Or will I need to restore my stock Rom backup and then unroot the phone to s-on and then let it OTA?

yea that sucks
Sure, Sense 1.0 is kinda lame. But its probably for the best. It's definitely lighter on resources, and the phone manual would still apply. Not much of an issue since the Inc isn't shipping anymore. But the EVO is. So they might have had to rewrite some of the manual for sense 2.1. But I think it has more to do with available memory. All these gingersense roms are great, but they sure do use a lot more.
Sent from my Synergy Rom using XDA App
I don't care what people say about Sense 2.1 on the Inc. It's working great for me. The bottom line is that the Inc isn't being made anymore, so there is absolutely NO incentive for HTC to put 2.x Sense on it. If your Inc broke for instance, and you could get an official 2.x Sense'd phone, you'd be more likely to pick up a used Inc as opposed to a newer phone. I've had my Inc going on almost a year, and I can honestly say I don't really need to "upgrade" my phone. I typically upgrade to a newer phone every year..... If I last that long! I had my ATT Fuze (aka HTC Raphael, aka Touch Pro) for like 3 or 4 months before "upgrading". Bottom line is, the Inc is a great phone, it's capable of running Sense 2.x, but HTC wouldn't be doing themselves any good to go through the effort of putting it on the Inc since it's an EOL product.....

No they said by the end of Q2[which is the end of this month]
Does anyone know if the new Gingerbread with Sense running on the EVO has a better email client than the stock GB mail client (which bites)? I use SkyRaider 4 with Sense 2 on the Froyo platform, but MIUI on the GB platform with LauncherPro to make it as Sense-like as possible. Since the GB mail client neglected the 'Search' functionality, I had to buy the Enhanced Mail client (I'm and Exchange user), but there is no scrolling widget for this. A Sense-based GB rom with a Sense-based mail client would solve all my problems. Bottom line, has anyone seen the Sense Mail client on the new GB-based EVO?

Synergy is supposed to be updated sometime tonight by virus
What is this Synergy rom I've been reading about? I googled it but came across a thread in the dev section for the incredile only.
Synergy is a Sense 3.0 ROM collaboration created by Virus, Myn and other developers. In a nutshell, it will be a better version of Virus' Kingdom ROM. Right now, it is not open to all users... but will be in the near future.

Also agree. Let TSM get their hands on it first
After running stock for a few days (during that whole ZOMG my 3G is gone fiasco) I was about ready to throw it out the window.
After a whole days worth of prepubescent tantrums. I don't want to touch this. I think I'd rather rock Adryn's froyo SC than a P3 GB leak. Haha.
If owners were going to release anyways then i'm sure its all about where the credit goes. That's why P3 released IMO. I am glad, however, that he chose the side of advancing the android os rather than holding grudges.
I don't flash any ROM anymore that isn't deodexed (theme-able), debloated (though I do like the TW video player and Media Hub), and de-Binged (though I still find Bing to be useful, that doesn't mean I want it built into my ROM). Therefore, like some of you have already said, I will wait until it's released as a custom ROM by Nitro, TSM, or one of the other devs who have worked on the Fascinate for more than a week or two.
[EDIT]: Oh, yeah, forgot to mention - I am also going to wait for a voodoo kernel (actually I forgot that this would install a new kernel). That looks to be a much longer wait than for someone to de-B it (deodex, debloat, de-Bing) it, since, as I understand, no kernel source has been leaked. It took a couple of months, as I recall, after the DL30 leak, for a Froyo voodoo kernel to be released. That was because no kernel source had been leaked, only the functional ROM build. The voodoo kernel was based on the official ED01 release after Samsung posted the kernel source.
Another Fascinating post by my XDA app...
Save yourselves the trouble and do not flash until there is a less buggy and de binged version. At the very least we know that there is a Fully Functional GB rom on Verizon for the Fascinate.

EC09 is the build number, meaning most likely that a second dev team was working on GB while froyo was being finished up.

Actually, this is an old engineering build. I heard about it a while back, just never got to see it.
I wonder how long till we get an OTA of Gingerbread?
I would imagine it will be a little while. Verizon is notorious for continually pushing things back, and I don't see why this OTA would be any different.
What exactly is so great about gingerbread?

Ah, this is what I've been watching for. I would like to know what they mean by "early summer", though - we're already 2 1/2 weeks into summer.
Would have been nice if they'd ever released the 2.2.1 update, but anyway, I guess I'll probably stop pursuing FW flashing for now, since updated stock was mostly what I wanted. Then again, I would like to root and do so other stuff...
Thanks for the heads-up.
Thanks for letting us know! The wait since official release of Gingerbread for Galaxy S was rather long and I was tempted to just go for Cyanogen Mod, but the advantage of stock firmware is the full hardware support.
Besides some of the apps from Samsung such as the music player, video player, the camera... are pretty good (and not available for CM7). Also I quite like that a Canadian version of swype is included in the stock fw (can we get that on CM7?)
Of course I don't like the bloatware that Bell includes, and there's a lot to like about CM7 such as the wiimote support, lots of small improvements & settings, the original gingerbread look & feel...

Nice I'll wait for this now as well, heck I held off GB for this long what's a few more weeks. Realized yesterday I have over a month of uptime right now with 2.2.1 JS8, so no hurry to switch.
What made me a bit nervous about custom GB is flashing the bootloaders. It doesn't seem like there's a problem with ones from other regions but with official release so close I might as well wait, go back to to a stock Bell 2.2 ROM and flash the GB bootloaders the 'right' way.
Also kernels and the like for 2.3 seem to be just maturing, I love speedmod with BLN and CWM on my phone right now. Seems like everything but BLN is in speedmod for GB now maybe it will come soon.
we're already in early summer...
i wonder though how much of an improvement it would be over JVQ if at all. I held out sooo long from flashing with ODIN but couldn't stand the lag of 2.2 and flashed JVP and then JVQ a couple of weeks ago; 2.3.4 JVQ seems much quicker than KC1.

On that date, the SGS2 will be available at Bell stores ... with GB already loaded.
It wouldn't make sense for them to make GB available for the SGS before the SGS2 comes out IMHO...

See that's why held off going to GB, my phone is in the best state it could be in and having anything less is unacceptable. Gingerbread has come a long way since released by Samsung but still not like the Froyo we have today and all the features/enhancements the devs has made.

Sure we have been waiting a while, but it will be worth it, and who knows how long we may wait for GB, ya know? Plus personally I think EC05 is the most stable build to work with and the newest so that's probably why. Although it would be great if we could see SFR for Gingerbread... whenever that happens, not counting on it though, I'm just happy with SRF 1.2 right now waiting for 1.3 lol.

SRF 1.3 is in the works, I know that for a fact. JohnCorleone has been testing, and chris41g has taken over Mystery's job.
Be patient. Right now, there are many great roms out there. Not trying to hate on SRF, but it's not any better than some roms we already have. Take the iPhone for example. It's popular because of the name, but there are many other phones better than it.
Same thing with SRF. It's popular because of the name, but there are so many froyo roms that are just as good, if not better, than it.
I understand you're excited for 1.3, but it's not going to bring anything revolutionary for the Epic. I'm sure there will be more tweaks, new kernel, and new theming, but that doesn't mean it'll be the best.
I apologize if I brought you down in any way or made SRF sound bad. It's still one of my favorite roms and I am looking forward to 1.3 but in the mean time, try out the ones we have now.
