Hello guys,
I recently bought a device named "Zune HD", a windows CE based pda/media player made by Microsoft. Looks like a WP7.
The windows CE version is 6.0, and I want to upgrade it to WinCE 6.0 R3 .
Its now that I need help:
-What I have to download first?
-Will it destroy my Zune if I upgrade to R3?
-Am I able to do this or it won't work anyway?
-A little step-by-step tutorial should be nice
Tech specs of the Zune HD (If it helps):
Memory: 128MB Hynix SDRAM
Disk space: 16 GB (12 avaible)
GPU: NVIDIA Tegra APX 2600 (HD)
CPU: NVIDIA Tegra APX 2600 with on ARM11 and one ARM7 general processing cores -> 800MHZ I think
Screen: 480X272 OR 3.3 inches OLED screen
Nice for a media player uh?
IF YOU NEED PICTURES OR ANYTHING ELSE LET ME KNOW.
I think that's all! Thanks all for your time
are you trollin'?
no and you?
very nice, thank you buddy
lol...
But this is not a blabla topic, anybody has a real answer???
First, you'd need the original BSP for this.
Second, you'd need to get CE6R3 full package (although the open one for download might work too, if you'd have the rest of the files).
Third, access to bootloader to flash it.
Simply said, not gonna happen, unless MS does it themselves (which I doubt).

If tried searching this forum and the internet but couldn't find any real info on this. Is the lastest version of TCPMP fully WM5 compatible? Because I haven't installed any third party programs on my Qtek and I don't want to mess it up by installing a not WM5 compatible program. I know alot of you guys use it, though.
works fine mate... go ahead theres nothing to worry about.
Because there isn't a seperate installer for WM 2005 or 2003... Which file do I need btw, because there seems to be several .exe's.
http://corecodec.org/frs/?group_id=53&release_id=224#r224
From the site you linked to I had installed "tcpmp.arm.cabs.0.66.zip"
I haven't updated to 0.70 or 0.71, but I mostly just use it for .mp3 and .wma files, so I haven't run into any issues with 0.66.
Code:
Which file to use?
First determine which type of processor do you have: ARM, MIPS, SH3
If you don't know, it's most likely ARM.
TCPMP.ARM_CE3.CAB
WinCE 3.xx - 4.xx
Basically all modern PocketPC, PocketPC Phone Edition and HPC
(example for PPC2000,PPC2002,WM2003,WM2003SE)
(Intel XScale is an ARM cpu)
TCPMP.ARM_SP.CAB
All MS Smartphones (for SP2002,WM2003 SP,WM2003SE SP)
TCPMP.ARM720_CE3.CAB
Same as ARM_CE3, just with different ARM CPU identifier for Sigmarion III
(this is NOT for Pocket Loox 720, please use TCPMP.ARM_CE3.CAB for that device)
TCPMP.ARM_CE2.CAB
WinCE 2.xx (for older HPC's and PalmPC devices)
TCPMP.MIPS_CE3.CAB
WinCE 3.xx - 4.xx with MIPS CPU
TCPMP.MIPS_CE2.CAB
WinCE 2.xx with MIPS CPU
TCPMP.SH3_CE3.CAB
WinCE 3.xx - 4.xx with SH3 CPU
TCPMP.SH3_CE2.CAB
WinCE 2.xx with SH3 CPU
That's the readme from tcpmp.arm.cabs.0.71.zip
WM5 isn't listed.
Sorry! I used this one... TCPMP.ARM_CE3.CAB
Can anyone confirm which version I need?
Download it from this link:
http://corecodec.org/frs/?group_id=53&release_id=224#r224
The correct files are highlighted by "PINK" color. Personally I use the tcpmp.setup.0.71.exe file. You can also use the CAB file if you know how to use and install it. Have fun.
here is a more direct link .. http://corecodec.org/frs/download.php/366/tcpmp.arm.cabs.0.71.zip

That's the file I used. But it contains several cabs. Like I posted before.
I used the exe... Lets what that does.
You should use the CE3 cab (or the .exe, of course)...It's pretty clear in the readme posted above:
TCPMP.ARM_CE3.CAB
WinCE 3.xx - 4.xx
Basically all modern PocketPC, PocketPC Phone Edition and HPC
(example for PPC2000,PPC2002,WM2003,WM2003SE)
(Intel XScale is an ARM cpu)
No, it doesn't specifically mention WM5 but trust me, it works perfectly. (And a lot better than WMP10, I might add)

Hi,
I am regularly watching linux-omap mailing list and today someone post a patch that adds support to omap850.
Patch is available here :
http://source.mvista.com/git/gitweb...9ae42d4;f=arch/arm/mach-omap1/board-fsample.c
http://source.mvista.com/git/gitweb...4;f=include/asm-arm/arch-omap/board-fsample.h
it would be interesting to checkout the tree in a few days and check this patch.
Another thing, recently I try haret on TI omap but omap wasn't supported because haret is using the bad registry to identify cpu.
On the ML someone was asking the following :
Is the OMAP850 currently detected exactly like the 730 via the JTAG ID (see
> > arch/arm/mach-omap1/id.c)
Maybe it could help.
Unfortunately I don't have time to work on it and I am not skilled enough in linux dev. to work on this but I can help developpers.
In a few days we should be able to download the linux kernel with omap850 support at this address : http://linux.omap.com/
I will keep you informed.
TI says that the OMAP is a processor that supports LINUX. So we know it can run linux, already, except if HTC has done something to make things very difficult.
(there is also RiscOS that can run on ARM9 devices... lol... )
Well, they say linux because the ARM9 core is supported by linux. The problem would lie in the fact this is a SOC (system on chip), the chip has many other system devices built into it. Now, and Joe Shmoe can go and write drivers for the internal circuits. TI doesn't want to give out the info needed to write these drivers unless you buy the chip. This chip isn't like any other chip you can go to Arrow.com and buy. I'm not that great of a coder, so I have to wait for the support to appear. I'm happy to it did, there may be hope for the EDGE modem...?
How do I beneficial?
Hi there,
May I know how do I beneficial (in terms of building a 2.6.2x kernel for OMAP850) from the following patch?
Regards,

Hi, it has been a while since you posted your question but here I am today, attempting the same transition to Android on a MC65. Any chance your efforts proved successful? Thanks for sharing your tips.
