have you backed up your WiMax keys via the instructions on the rooting thread and/or followed these steps for recovery?

There ARE no updated radios and the recovery you have now will do a nandroid backup just fine.

How did you get ar on the shift???

by AR do you mean Amon-RA 2.2.x? I tried his recovery for the EVO just to see if it would work and I couldn't get it to boot into recovery. I would love to see an Amon-RA based recovery and would happily donate to get one. I know Cloverdale was working on porting it over, but he doesn't have much time to work on it.

Yes that's what I meant by AR, the way I got it, was by putting one of the imgs from another post and booted to recovery, and had it update the recovery menu.. I never did this on my orkiginal evo but is it key to backup my wimax keys?

Tell us your amon secrets! I hate clockwork :v(

I hope I have time to do it soon. There have been some major issues at work, and I do not have a spare moment these days.

Is this for people who have flashed ClockworkMod 3 already?
Will I see this? I have ROM Manager v3.0.0.7 w/ ClockworkMod 2.5.1.3 currently.
Sorry if this is a dumb question, I'm just a little confused.

WOOOOHOOOOOO
Now all the threads about people not being able to get it will stop!

Ah alright so now when I get it that should allow me to install Cyanogenmod 7 then right since clockwork 3 supports ext4? I didn't do the ENG-Hboot though. I'm assuming that could prevent me from doing any Gingerbread ROM?

NOPE. That is not necessary to flash CM7. With CWM3, you are good to go.

Yeah for sure. GV has most of the gingerbread source kanged from CM7 anyway, with some visual tweaks as far as I have been able to see. With CWM3, you will be good to flash any G2 ROM that is available to us.

Sweetness. I seen that Eng-hboot in the Cyanogenmod 7. Not really sure why?
But I did Get Root using Rage & Gfree. I have never flashed back to an older recovery though.
Is this universal now or will I still need to downgrade to get back to
cm6.1.1

Ganii ran a test with it said he could flash between 2.2 and 2.3 with no problems plus he was able to do nandriods of both and restore them, so sounds like it is universal for all roms 2.2 and 2.3.

Yes,seems to be no problems there.
Come from CM7 Nightly,then I did a wipe data/factory reset.
Installed now CM 6.1.1 Froyo 2.2 ROM,works.
Did a nandroid backup,works.
Then tried to restore,works too
CWM 3.0.0.5 seems to work now with 2.2 ROMs too
i was on the 2.xxx recovery in rom manager and it prompted me to flash new recovery of 3.0.0.5. so I dont think its for people who already have 3.0.0.5
I had 3.0.0.5 already and yes it did promt me to update to 3.0.0.5 because proir to this everyones recovery in rom manager said 2.5.1.3 even if they were on 3.0.0.5, so this is for everyone.

Installed few days ago from here, but it`s the old one:
http://phones.crackflashers.com/vision/index.php?folder=cmVjb3Zlcmllcw==
Can`t restore 2.2 ROMs with this,so the recovery 3.0.0.5 which
you can download now via ROM Manager is newer.
Updated fine, just want to know do I have to partition my sd card
with ext 4 before I try cm7? I backed up my sd to my computer and
have cm7 and gapps downloaded and ready to go.
No,not needed.

Stock Evo Nand Backup

Is there a downloadable Nandroid Backup of the stock Evo rom or any other rom out there somewhere? I saw that someone did it for the Stock Nexus S rom but I don't think that'd work on my Evo. I'm asking because I dug up my old Evo that is stuck on a Fresh boot loop and I'd like to try to fix it. I tried a factory reset but that didn't work, nor can I flash new roms so I'm pretty much stuck without a Nand Backup.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=884060
Yea, use that link to get a stock rom, NOT a stock nandroid backup. NEVER use a nandroid backup from another evo, it's just asking for trouble.

Amon_RA recovery

Hey guys, Just got my acer iconia yesterday and its already rooted, I got an EVO 3D and i need to flash so this will hold me over till we find root for the 3D. And besides this is a really nice table for sure. What Im wondering is would it be possible to have Amon_RA recovery ported over to this device. CMW is good but Amon_RA is great and, atleast with phones much more dependable.
link to Amon RA recovery.

You would need to ask the developer of the recovery.

EVO 2.3 root guide using Revolutionary

Wrote up a quick Guide over at the INFECTED ROM forums. Here's the link if anyone is having trouble rooting and flashing. If you're completely new to the game head over and check it out.

Thanks for this
No problem. at the time of posting there were no guides out and I noticed a lot of people having problems so I threw one together and put it up.
Just flashed the Synergy ROM on my EVO, but it has been at the white "htc EVO 4G " screen for about 10 minutes. is that bad?

THANKS! worked great.
my question is about this part
"From here the first thing I did was download the AMON RA recovery because it's generally more stable and will allow the flashing of older roms and zip files. The newest version can be found in this thread"
Is this required? I am a complete rooting newb, have wanted to for a while, then as i was ready, the update came.
U can simply use the su-2.3.6..3 ef signed .zip
that u flash in recovery to get superuser on the phone that blue clockwork mod flashes all the roms back and forth froyo to ginger and back just fine
or download rom manager and flash the orange cwm that does all of them too for sure!

So, will this be backward compatible with older amon ra backups?

For me when I tried to do a nand restore and reboot my phone like usual it kept sending me to the bootloader. so I tried turning off the phone then turn it back on still sent me straight to boot loader. Flashed a rom rebooted and didn't get sent to boot loader..hmm

flashed this afternoon have been working fine for me for a few flash fixes and what not so far
I flashed this version over the old version and when i went to restore a rom,it sent me to the bootloader, then i tried it again,i got stuck in a bootloop, since im the kind of person that doesnt give up easy,i tried it again and it finally restored my rom,i booted back into recovery from the rom and the damned recovery went back to the old version, now how is that?Too weird,i think ill just stick with the older version for now.
Diablo, just a thought, doesn't the newer version of ra allow for backup of recovery? (I still use old ra 1.80). If so, did your nandroid contain recovery?

Yes and no.
I didn't post this on xda yet for a reason, so it would be good practice to ask the person doing the work if they want it shared broader first.
That being said, the issue with restoring has to do with the flash_image binary possible getting wiped if you're doing wiping before your restore. (<-- that's not the case)
If you just restore, it should work fine. I've pulled it offline for now until I get it fixed. Thanks. Also, if you want to help, please provide me some feedback on the rootz thread for now.
you guys should really be respectful to developers and not cross post stuff without even asking. sometimes there's a reason "why" they don't share here first. i think you just found out why in this case. is it really THAT hard to send a pm? it's not like you made the discovery of the year or something by doing this. instead you've caused people to probably have problems with their recovery that could have been avoided had you NOT put this thread on here and copied over smelkus zwiki link before HE was ready to do it himself. have fun.
