So I use gmail, and a corporate email account.
I can't stand 200+ notifcation bar messages a day for my email so i disable the notifications. I use gmail unread count widget and have for over a year. However, it does not do exactly what i want. So, here is my wishlist.
A widget, which looks like an email envelope that sits on my main homescreen, and is 1x1 in size.
Said widget should give me an unread count number for my gmail account and exchange account all in one number on the widget.
When the widget is tapped, it opens the stock samsung combined inbox app, which hosts my gmail and exchange accounts.
As it is now, my unread count widget only shows my gmail unread count, and when tapped, launches the android default gmail app, NOT the samsung combined inbox. So, I have to manually check for exchange emails periodically to see if I have work emails. This basically sucks. I mean it's great for gmail, but for work, i end up being late to respond when I'm out and about.
Does a widget like this exist? If not, is this something I could make in app inventor?
Help?
Launchr pro has that built in as an option. It may only be for gmail, that is all I use and all I can confirm.
Hmm... Problem is, I use adw launcher. Anyway to extract that apk?

It's not an apk by itself, it's a feature of LP. It doesn't work that way.

So....anyone know of something like this that exists on its own?

I have 2 gmail accounts on my phone setup right now and i hate having to switch between them while in gmail app itself. Is there anyway to have 2 gmail icons on the home screen 1 for each?
Would also like to know this. It is a pain in the ass how the gmail app handles multiple accounts. I would at least want a option to have the app reset to the accounts screen every time I close it.

I use "Gmail Unread Count" widget from the market, working pretty nicely so far. I have 2 gmail accts and put a widget for each on my homescreen, has customizable icon and shows the number of emails unread in each acct and tapping whichever widget opens the acct you have it set to check.

Is there away to get notified for birthdays listed on the calendar, or anything listed on the calendar for that matter?

I use "Blik calendar widget" it does what you may be looking for and it's free. That was one thing I missed from WM. It auto updates from your calender and adds reminders.
Would the calendar alarm feature work? When you make an event or edit one you can set an alarm for up to a week before I believe. Other than that, I used to use Astrid for reminders until they removed the feature for some reason. I haven't tried it in months so they might have put it back in.
I use outlook from my desktop and just send myself a calendar invite to my gmail account and it automatically adds it to my calendar.

What is the point of the birthday place holder under contact info if it doesn't display on the calendar or anywhere? I'm still looking for a way to get birthdays displayed.

..much like the Gmail and messaging apps have but for Yahoo.
LauncherPro has the option to add #s next to the dock icons. I use it with K9.

Where?? I have both LP and K9 installed but have never seen that option.
Can anyone specify the differences between the two apps? After first getting my Xoom I was noticing that I was getting multiple alerts for the same emails... after doing some digging i realized that both the Stock Mail app and Gmail were notifying me in separate instances (assuming Gmail app was pushing to the Xoom and the Stock Mail app was fetching every 15 minutes - hence 2 notifications).
I noticed that the Gmail app also allows search, so both search and push are included in the Gmail app. Are there any other true differences between the two?

Labels, folders, archives and starring all work in the gmail app. I don't use priority inbox, but I believe that works too.
But...why would you set up the stock email app for your gmail?

I must have done it during the initial set up - I guess my question would be, why wouldn't you set up your Gmail through the Stock Mail App?

The Stock Mail App only has generic features that would work on most email platforms that you bring to it. If you have a GMail account you would want to use the GMail app because you can take advantage of the Gmail features, Search, Labels, Priority Box, and I'm pretty certain the Push is only for Gmail App which means your Stock Mail app periodically checks to a designated time but the GMail App gets mail pushed to it as it is received.
I import all of my other email accounts into gmail and give each a label which the Xoom handles beautifully. I'm not sure I knew there was a stock email app..lol
The other big difference is that the stock client does not allow you to chose the from address, it wont event reply from the address that was sent to
I use multiple mail address aliases and need to be able to reply from all of them but can't.

Perfect... I thought it would make more sense to use the stock app, but it appears I'm mistaken! Thanks for the help.
Is their anyway to have unread emails on the dash clock lock screen app? I know it works with gmail and k9, but what about the default email app for the nexus 10? I have 3 account setup for it and it would be nice to see all 3 on the lock screen with dash clock. Is their an extension from the Google play store that will do this, or an option in dash clock itself that I am missing.....
Thanks

Me too - Dashclock extension for Android email app?
I'm bumping this thread because I'm looking for the same thing. I already have the dashclock gmail extension going - is there really no Dashclock extension for the standard Android email program though? That's where I get my yahoo mail which is my primary email address. My gmail is just a secondary address with 500+ unread emails from various groups I'm on.
Second that bump!
Anyone tried Anydash and managed to get it to work with the default Android email app? Apparently it should work with any app, but I can't get it to work with it at all. Doesn't show count.
