Hi guys,
Just have a quick question- wondering if anyone is running into the same problem. I just installed Cyanogen 7 rc1, and it is force closing between the load screen and the welcome screen (for the first time).
I'm not sure if this is the correct place to post this, but any help would be great.
Thanks
Based off what I've read in the development threads, the RC does't seem to be too much of an RC. I'd restore and wait.
you have to flash RC1 over a nightly build.

Yep! Its was a known issue with the first build of RC1. Something was botched. I recommend you either flash RC1 over nightly build #38, or you just flash nightly build #39 (which already includes fixes that were left out of RC1).
Cheers!

So...I haven't really followed CM7 much, but I see that there is a cm7.1 now. What exactly is that vs the CM7 nightlies? Can I use dalingrin's OC kernel (or any other OC kernel) on CM7.1? Can I even put CM7.1 on my nook (as in will it work on it, not how to do it)? Would I want to put it on, or should I just run nightlies?
thanks in advance for the help...cm7 is a big unknown to me, obviously
For the Nook Color, the current 7.1 release is a RC or Release Candidate which falls between nightly and stable. Several nightlies have now followed, and I believe those nightlies are now also 7.1.
Yes, you can load 7.1RC on the Nook Color and it runs very well; yes you can use Dalingrin's OC kernel, and you can do this all off a uSd which is all what I am doing.
I could only find RC1 (is that the latest anyway) and only 7.0 nightlies. Is there a link to updated 7.1 anywhere?
This weekend I finally wiped my Phiremod 6.3 and installed CM7.1 RC1 and Dalgrin's 6/30/11 kernel. It's been super sweet thus far.
I never cease to be amazed at how great a tablet this is.
I'm confused about how to install the OC kernel on SD. I'll do some searching in the interim, but if you have a link off the top of your head, please share.
Starting to get very intrigued by CM7. The earlier run on what was supposed to be a class 6 sucked compared to a trusty ol' class 4 sandisk...
Actually, I think I get the OC thing (recovery mode, named update, etc). But now I have a different problem. I tried 7.1 and after installing market I can't search for anything. Any time I try any of the search icons or menu, nothing happens. Any thoughts there from anyone?
Now I'm getting confused. Was running RC1 and installed nightly121 over it, clearing dalvik and cache...according to my thinking I've got 2.34 installed with updates from the nightly..correct?

CHeck the version in 'about tablet'. When I did nightly 128, it said it was still cm7.0. Or maybe I read it wrong. Hopefully someone more knowledgeable can answer...

My about shows cm7 and then a date 07032011 - Jul 3, 2011 ..the nightly date no version
I apologize for the noob question.
I have cm7 stable for my defy and am very pleased w/ it. I am waiting for cm9 stable, but was curious if the very last nightl build of cm7 would be better than the stable mod (since it's the newest version)
I'm wondering if the latest cm7 nightly ( cm_jordan_full-63.zip ) is as stable/more stable than the cm7 stable release. also, can i install the nightly build over my current cm7 stable? or do i have to wipe all my data and start fresh?
thanks,
I hope i'm not repeating some other thread, but i couldn't find this specific answers around.

"Stable" is a subjective question, but no you don't have to wipe your data; just wipe cache (not data) install zip from sd, choose the new nightly, install it, then "advanced", "wipe dalvik cache" wipe and reboot. You should still have all your apps and everything still but be on the new version.
If you don't like 63 or whichever you tried, no big deal, wipe cache again, reinstall previous version (or if you made a backup just restore it) the same way and you'll be back on that version.
So it's not *that* risky, just make sure to use the CWM recovery for everything, not "stock" (I've done that by mistake and had to reflash sbf, re root, install 2nd init etc all over again).
hope this helps one noob to another.
@jpchopper:
thanks,
when you say don't use "stock" instead of cwm what do you mean? is there a stock way to flash the rom? i thought when booting to recovery it automatically goes to cwm?
wiui
Hi, thanks again for all the help. i've been using the latest cm7.2 nightly and all's good (except my earpiece died, and i'm waiting for my k850i earpiece off ebay.)
Anyways, I was curious about trying wiui (non ics) and wondered since Miui is based from cm7 originally, can i flash the zip the same way as i did when i replaced cm7.1 stable to a nightly, or to 7.2 nightly? or iswiui too different and would i need ot do a complete wipe to install wiui fresh?
thanks,
anyone using cm7.2 rc1 yet? i've been trying to download it, but it's really slow. Been pretty happy with the nightlies so far, and am looking forward ot cm7.2 stable (and cm9 stable of course)
any new bugs that i should be aware of before flashing? I'm not too android savvy, so any tips are appreciated.
thanks
I'm trying to get it too, many people have same issue. The CM servers are hot these days
As far as i know there might be some issue with ringtones when stored on sd card...?
You can check official 'bugzilla'
I did dig but didnt find anything to worry.
tried the official update but it was "meh"
almost same with the nightlies, minus some features from nightlies
I went back to euroskank nightly instead
i suggest using the newest nightlies, 'cause they have some bugs fixed, which RC1 don't. You should see the CM7.2 RC1 thread, there is a .torrent link which is running full speed, opposite to their sever
I'm downloading now will share my experience once I'm done!
Hi Guys, just a quick question here, I recently changed my ROM from CM 7.2 to CM 7.2 Mirage - Kang Build by using a CWM Recovery SD, clearing cache and such, all worked correctly and properly, just that I didn't know that the Kang Build did not support 16bit Frame Buffer that I wanted so that NC can atleast run Blood & Glory.
Now my question is if I reverted back to CM 7.2 by clearing Dalvik Cache and Cache first, would there be any problems in terms of the system and apps?
No, there would be no known issues... both are the same build as far as that goes...

Hi Frank, I also read your posts in Mirage - Kang Thread, thank you for posting the thread of your kernel, didn't know you posted it here.
Also thanks DizzyDen, was a bit cautious at the time because there were a lot of changes that was done from Cm 7.2 > Mirage, didn't know that it would just overwrite it.
P.S.
@Frank - there's a new CM 7.2 MiRaGe - KANG build
Here:
Update 06/23/2012:
- New 06232012 build, synced with CM
I just don't know if the sync was for a Nightly Build of CM.

There were no kernel changes between 6/8 and 6/23. Actually you can probably run either of the kernels I posted with any CM7 build.

Hi everyone.
I´m using right now CM7 by Quarkx (last nightly), I was thinking about switch to CM9 but I've found a post from user skeevy420 who mentions CM7 Kang. Can anyone tell me what version is this, advantages over Quark's version and installation procedure.
If anyone can give the links to the latest version of this rom and gapps working for this one that would be much appreciated.
Thanks.

You can find skeevy's cm7 kang here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1755200
I've been using it as my daily use rom and I get over 24 hours without charging. (just a guess because I charge it overnight when it's still at 40%)
You can find latest gapps by searching on Google.
He's only put out one version of the cm7 kang and it's super stable.
My suggestion is to keep using cm7 until cm10 is stable, if you're just looking for a day to day rom. Welcome to Bravo.
