Looking for some help. My P-1000N has stopped playing MP3's, MP4's and has lost all playback capabilities in the Youtube App. I can still watch Flash videos in browser (Youtube, etc).
The GT is rooted via Z4, no other firmware modifications. Just did a factory format via Samsung code and the problem persists, any ideas would be appreciated.

Do a factory-reset and the folder will be back.
Go to the recovery. volume-up+powerbutton. In the recovery clear cache and clear data/factory-reset. The tab will restart and you have a fresh phone/tablet

I was reading around and found this reply on another thread.
I did a factory Format/Reset and noticed that the problem was not fixed, looked around with Root Explorer to check if the GPS fix I had done back in January was still there and alas there it was, even with the date unchanged, so does that mean that the "factory reset" only changes your /data and not your /system?
Would the only fix be flashing a new firmware through ODIN or Heimdall?
Again thank you for any insight on this matter.
Yes the only way to fix this is to flash a new rom with odin. The factory reset did not erase the gps fix because it is now count as the original rom. Factory reset only erase the settings and installed applications.
P.S : Be careful. Do not flash a rom with encrypted bootloader, in case you want to downgrade etc...
Thanks for your reply.
So I found this .pit file that it's supposed to work with my tab.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=918722
But I can't find anywhere:
PDA: P1000NUBJJ5
PHONE: P1000NUBJJ3
CSC P1000NUNAJJ4
Ok so the question basically is can I flash the .pit file in the download through Odin and recover my system?
Just for the heck of it I tried taking a video with the camera and it didn't work, app didn't crash but it was not recording, it's as if I deleted media codecs or something similar.
Well, hope you can help guys/gals

Hi, I recently upgraded to Indie Rom's OMEGA v19 rom. Everything was running fine until I tried to play music on my phone using poweramp. It would not play, so I thought that there was something wring with my music files but that was not the case. I also tried using twitch to watch some streams, and youtube to watch some random videos, but nothing would play. I would only get a black screen.
I did some research and it told me that it was Xposed, but I updated it but it still doesn't work. Is there anything else that i can do ? thanks in advance
UPDATE 1: I have tried reinstalling the rom with a full wipe without XPOSED and I still cant play any media on youtube, or poweramp.
UPDATE 2: installed another rom and kernel and I still cannot play any media. The Alarm also doesnt work. It does not play any sound.
Does the bootloader/modem have anything to do with this problem?
I have tried reinstalling the rom with a full wipe without XPOSED and I still cant play any media on youtube, or poweramp. :crying:

It looks like you're posting in the wrong forum. This is the forum for the S4 ACTIVE (i9295) which is a very different phone than the regular S4 (i9205). Try posting in the appropriate forum or even the thread for the ROM you are using and you should get a response.
Sir, this is not the S4 active branch as it clearly states on top of my screen that im in;
Samsung Galaxy S 4 i9500, i9505, i9505G, i9506 > Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting > Cannot play ANY media files after updating 4.3
But have you tried removing Xposed? To see if that fixed your problem?

I initially posted this in the wrong section (S4 Active) and it was just recently moved to this subforum, which is the correct one.
I have tried reinstalling the ROM without Xposed and no, it did not fix my problem.

What do you mean by installing another kernel? will it work if I install another ROM?
EDIT: I just tried installing another rom (the google rom found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2544474) and I still cannot play any media files (music on poweramp, streams on twitch, videos on youtube)
Also, I dont know if this is relevant to the problem, but I installed:
Bootloader -> BL_I9505XXUFNA5_373648_REV06_user_low_ship_MULTI_C ERT.tar.md5
Modems -> CP_I9505XXUFNA5_373648_REV06_user_low_ship_MULTI_C ERT.tar.md5
before in an attempt to install OMEGA's 4.4.2 rom but it didn't work, so I had to flash a 4.3 rom first.
Well then, my bad
That ROM uses the same kernel, try the alucard kernel.

Any progress here? I'm facing the same issue.
It's pretty strange, i guess im not a noob at flashing Roms and stuff. A few days ago i flashed Echo v 12 (TW, 4.3 Base). It was working like a charm (clean flashed, with Philz CWM). But since yesterday, i'm not able to play any videos (Youtube, Stock Video Player - Samsung, Stock Video Player - Google). I can download MX Player, which will work fine for me - but it wont fix the issue (Youtube still not working).
All the files i tried to play on the Stock Video Players, are Files that have been running without an Issue two days ago (same Rom, same Kernel).
What i allready tried:
- clearing cache and data of: Video Player (Samsung and Google), Media Storage, Gallery, Youtube (also uninstall Update), Browser (Samsung), Browser (Chrome).
- delete Google-Account
- turn off the device, remove Battery for 30 Seconds
- Boot into Recovery, Wipe Cache and Dalvik > Reboot
Still not working.
-Restore an older Nandroid > clear Cache and Dalvik > reboot > not working
Full Wipe (Factory Reset) > cleared Data and Cache of the above mentioned Apps > still not working
Full Wipe > Wipe to clean flash a new Rom > reflash Echoe v 12. > still not working.
I have no more Ideas what's wrong with my Device, next Step would be flashing Stock-Rom > reflash Echoe.
About the Error: When I'm trying to play any Video on Youtube, Stock Google Video Player, Stock Samsung Video Player i get the Message "Sorry cant play that Video". File-Type is Device-default for most Videos (i recorded them with my S4...).
Also, when i try to record a Video now on the default Samsung Camera app it says something like "Record failed" and stops, Pictures work just fine.
Please Guys help,
i have no more Ideas left and i allready tried that much.

Anyway, i fixed it. Here's what i did:
Odin-Flash Stock Rom (XXUBFM8) in my case, that means - flash Bootloader, CSC, PDA, Modem, ...
Boot > Video working
Odin-Flash latest Philz Touch
Install Echoe v12 (in Aroma, dont choose Youtube (it wont be installed as System App this way)
Boot
Odin Flash latest Modem, or Modem of best choice
Boot > Video still working.
I hope i solved it forever, that was a really annoying Error
ATT S5 with Straight Talk sim. Towel root and stuff. I can't place calls but can receive them. The antenna reception icon is replaced with the little "banned" (circle with line through it...think no smoking signs). Any fixes?
First try wiping the system cache. Boot to recovery mode and wipe the cache. If the problem persists, go the application manager in the settings menu and clear cache and data for the process (app).
That will resolve most issues. There have been hundreds of threads about xxx has stopped working, so if you had done a search you would already have found this.
If your luck is bad and the above doesn't fix the error, then presumably you have something unusual happening e.g. a corrupt system file or non-obvious conflicting app. You can try temporarily removing recently installed apps or resetting your phone.
To reset your phone, backup any files that are important to you. Then write a full, stock firmware image with Odin, followed by a facotry ata reset. It's recommended that you use a pre-June 6th firmware build to assure that you can easily Towel root again.

You should provide more information e.g. a detailed, step by step description of what you are trying in aid of discerning where you have gone awry. It's implausible that you wrote a full stock firmware image plus cleared the system cache and a factory data reset and still have the problem remaining.
Those steps would restore any changes that you could have made to the keyloayout files and then some. Ergo, there is something that you have left out or possibly an error or omission in one of the steps you took towards reverting your phone.

1- Check your IMEI by *#06# and *#0011#. Is it still OK and PASS?
2- In the most cases, flashing the stock firmware may fix the problem.
Hi there,
probably you know the issue. I have no sound and slowmo video with anything (youtube, instagram, sd card vids and any software). Also I noticed that also poweramp can't play music: also the time of the song is slow mo!!
When they also call me I can't hear the ringtone, but if I put on speaker I can hear loud and clear.
My idea is that is something related to the firmware, for example a sistem app or a deamon that can't decode video/audio properly anymore cause it's messed up by another app or so. So far I tried:
- changing ROM
- changing SD card
- changing bootloader and modem
- factory reset
- clear cache etc....
- removing some apps
Maybe someone knows how to fix this.
I'm on wanamlite 2.9, 4.4.2 kitkat, gt-i9505
Thanx
I'm not sure if this is available on kitkat or was introduced only after lollipop, but you could go into developer options and change NuPlayer to AwesomePlayer, or vice versa.
But as I said, this may be only available from lollipop.
And as a general rule, if it happens on various ROMs, then it's most probably a hardware error.
Another thing you could try is to format data. Not wipe, format. It's a bit different than wiping, cuz it will completely wipe your phone (ROM and internal storage), even files that a normal wipe can't reach.

Yeah awesomeplayer starts at 5.0.1
But I'll try to format.
How can I do this? From twrp? Any workflow you suggesting?

Yes, it is done from TWRP. There should be an option to format in the wipe section.
I suggest backing up all your files from the internal storage, as it will most probably get wiped.
And read the warning message carefully.

Didnt help. Also reinstalling Wanamlite didnt....
Perhaps I got other issues, sometimes calling didnt work... strange.
I guess it's a hardware issue but I couldnt find anything helpful....
i checked manually for upates, 15 minutes ago. It showed me that an system update is avaible.
Update installed, rebooted and here starts the wierd things.
-Phone boots up but the only thing im able to access is the ''edge'' bar where is the edge people and other fun features.
-Pressing volume button down will bring the boot menu with : reboot, shutdown etc..
-Tried to boot in safe mode. no luck, only the safe mode bar appears in the left.
-Wiping cache, no luck.
-Not rooted. Stock.
Only thing that i installed outside the play store is the samsung lab application wich is shared here in the forums because its not avaible for s6 edge+ for some reason in the samsung's app store.
I managed to boot in recovery mode and this text took my attention : mmb29k.g928fxxs3bqa9 (frimware codename?) 6.0.1 android version
Made factory reset, works now but lots of important data (pictures, music etc..) lost in that.
I made an google search with mmb29k.g928fxxs3bqa9 and found nothing.
(edit: In the download folder, there seems to be a file with the rom build number/number)
Yeah I had the same problem, posted about it in the general forum. I flashed another stock ROM ontop of it from Sammobile and it saved me from doing the factory reset.

Someone who's phone updated correctly needs to make these guys a firmware they can flash back with Odin otherwise they won't be able to find anything that works. (no downgrades allowed)
Make sure you backup what you can. Export contacts, everything on Phone when you connect your computer can be copied in/out, if you didn't know. App data will have to be individually backed up.
I have a Galaxy s4 Kitkat4.4.2 rooted with dr.phone removed all the bloat ware with TitaniumBackup Pro.I tried to flash to 6.0.0 using odin3_v3.12.5 which failed, see screensots for the errors. I tried other andriod versions including the factory one for this phone all from: androidmtk.com/download-samsung-stock-rom. I have not been able to flash any roms with odin not even custom roms. Any help on this is appreciated! After that I had a problem with samsung keyboad and had to do a factory reset to correct this. Afer which all the bloat ware I removed was no longer there after the factory reset. How did this change of unistalling apps go to the recovery rom? I want to be able to integrate all my additional apps into the rom. Used Titanium pro to convert a few programs from user to system aps such as esFile exsplorer and airdriod, also to integrate updates into the rom. I still need to learn some things about TitaniumBackup and how I use it to make a recovery rom built into the device. Also looking for a video player free of ads that allows you to make playlists, and continuously play videos, and be ableto run in the bkrd w/o stopping play while doing tasks such as texting. These are the issues that need the most attention for now.
There is no Android 6.0 for the s4 and you cannot flash custom ROMs with Odin.

i actually have a s3 mini with the same kitkat os that is on the s4 and have been using that for trial and error stuff. after i posted that i did a factory reset and learned that with titanium bkup i made a few up system apps and made an update.zip which has the removed bloatware and the couple apps i made system apps. airdriod did not retain its log in info which is something i want so if someone stole my phone and did a factory reset i would still have access to it and be able to locate it. i had vlc and 321 player installed but both of these do not continuously play videos. i did find xplayer though that plays continuously, runs in bkrd, just as i was searching for.
