More to the point is a smartphone with poor support a good investment? This debacle with Samsung and Sprint has led me to an inescapable conclusion. I think it's better to get a cheapie phone and spend my money on a netbook or tablet that has a standard computer OS that is supported with updates. Sprint and Samsung along with all the other carriers and manufacturers are in the business of telecommunications. When my contract with the Epic is done I'm going back to a simple phone.
im just not interested in hauling a tab or a net/notebook around. plus always looking for wifi, or having to pay for hotspot just to power it? no thanks.
I like to know what are the ages of some of these Epic owners? All the crying about updates and Samsung this Samsung that. And when does a phone became a investment? A 401k is a good investment, stocks and bonds are investments. A phone is just that a phone, not a investment. Please enlighten me, once you get that good old 2.2 from Samsung. What are you going to do with you phone then that you haven't done yet?
I think it's a good idea, just know what features you need and what phone (or device) you need to meet your requirements and then enjoy your purchase. The "debacle" with Sprint and Samsung is barely noticeable if your epic works the way it was meant to when you bought it.

im 23 and not whining about the froyo update, i just get angry and not whine in threads like most people, that they are giving all these clues about releases for the update and pomised us froyo b4 the end of 2010, and its still not here 2 months into 2011, but no whining as im enjoying bonsai rom and its great!!
To be honest webOS is looking VERY good to me, being able to have it on my computer, printer, phone, tablet... ill be able to answer texts from all of my devices with synergy, take calls from my tab then transfer to my phone... wow. Not to mention HP is going to be pushing the platform like mad since it has some catching up to do.
Not to mention homebrew apps are awesome!

That would be nice if HP can actually make a laptop that doesn't fail 1 month after warranty..bought a laptop for a friend and they liked it, so I bought one too a month later..both of them fried 1-2 month after warranty ran out...

Don't let a bad experience with one particular company drive you back to a primitive 'dumb' phone! Trust me, I share your frustration; however, I believe you would be even more frustrated going back to a simple phone now that you have grown accustomed to the features of smart phone.
Wow. Unneccessarily condescending and poorly thought out post. The age of the device owner is irrelevant. When a company heavily implies and that company's sales force outright states that a particular feature(s), upgrade(s), or service(s) is imminent, then miserably fail to deliver; the owners who paid their hard earned money for the device have every right to say whatever they want. Especially when the device cost a full 20% more than every other comparable device on the market. To suggest that a phone, and I use that term loosely, is not an investment, is short-sighted at best and inflammatory at worst.

+1 to that. I'm 34, been a PC user since I was 7; and use my smartphone for everything as a Professional Driver, from Navigation to E-mailing photos of damaged freight to my dispatcher to looking up business information to our shippers and consignees. Saves my office & me time, without the need to carry several different devices and books to clutter up in my truck.

I used to have the htc mogul when it first came out and I broke the charging port about a year after I got it and didn't have the insurance. I loved that phone but couldn't afford to replace it full price since I didn't get a rebate. I got a dumb phone full price which was cheap cause I got a deal on it and I must say it was the most miserable year of my life I yerned for my smartphone back. Bad idea stick with a smartphone you will hate. The dumb phone trust me someone with experience.

2 of my HP laptops are over 6 years old, still going strong (one harddrive broke after a few years, but replaced for $20 and its great). just bought a new hp a little under 8 months ago and it runs great as well.

Well overall I think quality of HP went way down ever since compaq merger...
The order was at different times..I know the reason why it broke after reading online...it had to do with the faulty Nvidia chipsets..and some manufacturers did tweaks to make their laptops work at least until warranty..I know HP was not the only one who did this as Dell for example I think did too..
Right now my buying policy is to buy Asus for my gaming laptops as they are the best quality..and Dell for my work laptops..Dell is junk too but I can get an inhome warranty for 2 years from dell on a deal...I work from RDP so dont care if my laptop dies as long as its replaced fast..

You don't have to wait - just try it in an experiment. Get a cheapie dumbphone (returnable) from Sprint, transfer your service, get an iPad/GalaxyTab/netbook and try it going with this combination. Not wanting to jump to preliminary conclusions, my feeling is that you will pine for the Froyo-less Epic very soon after starting the said experiment
Ok I have a few comments here...
1.) It's not like Samsung isn't supporting their device... if you're having serious functionality issues you can talk to Sprint about it and it's a supported phone.
2.) The 2.2 update has faced 101 delays but this isn't as big of a deal as most enthusiasts make it. If I asked some of the guys at work if they loaded up 2.3 on their Evo's or 2.2 or etc.. they would say "What's that?" ... when it comes out and installs OTA... they won't notice other then the phone reboots... maaaybe notice a feature here or there depending on the update.
3.) Even with 2.1 the phone works wonderfully. Yes there are bugs but thats every phone, dumb or smart, that you will buy. Most people don't buy a phone thinking I wonder when this will get Froyo... they just want a phone.. and if they are a business user they just want a smartphone with exchange support that works reliably. Samsung delivered on that for the most part.
You're still buying a top-notch phone that will serve you well.
Smartphones aren't for everyone.

I will still stop by on a regular basis. Lots of good stuff and knowledge over here! Plus, what little I can do is help answer questions, and it would get kinda old answering the same n00b questions over and over again for the nexus... how do I root? What does root do? Did I brick? What does my phone not boot past the Hero logo, and just keeps repeating the HTC-->Hero thingy over and over, am I bricked yet or should I try flashing the Hero's SPL and then the Radio from the Droid first?

I am a hardware KB freak myself, but I got to test a N1 for 24 hours and found that I would be able to live. The onscreen is really, really good, and it has the speak to text stuff where all I gotta do is talk and it does the typing, and it does it extremely well!
I have loved my G1 the entire time I have had it! My lady might actually be taking it from me, as long as I flash back to dwang for her(currently running a 2.1 ROM to get ready!).

Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa, NO!
Don't worry, I will tell you this much... up until the N1, the G1 was the best smart phone I had ever used, from BB 8900, 9700, to HTC Kaiser, Touch Pro, even the Touch Pro 2 did not live up to the G1, IMHO.
I sell cell phones for a living, and like to have a phone that I can use to not just enjoy using myself, but I can tell a customer to go get and they will find equal joy out of it. I used to carry a WM device for myself, then have to explain to everyone why I was selling them a BB... now I have my Android, my carrier has Android, and all is good! I will say, a BB does beat Android for those most hardcore business users that only do email, phone calls, and calendar... but anyone that wants a phone to do multiple solutions, heck move surf the web up the list from where it is with a hardcore business user, and there is no touching Android.
Android, as an OS, is IMHO the top smart phone OS hands down! And don't forget the G1 has damn good hardware... 528mhz CPU is still the gold standard. Sure, not as much RAM as we would all like, but it has a physical KB that is top notch!(one of the best I have ever tried). It has a good camera. It has a capacitive touch screen. Nice looks, IMO. Good battery life(subject to personal use, but just shy of a BB, and way better than any WM device).
Just wait, I am willing to bet money 2.X makes its way to the G1 officially.

Not really... I am a tester for the cell phone company I work for, so I get to test a lot of different phones. As well, when we do decide to carry a phone, I usually get to carry it for a week since I help write tip sheets.

I will tell you this much, the best times with my TyTNII was when I started running Android on it... so I guess it would have to be the BB 8110! In seriousness, I could type faster on the 8110 than any other phone, hands down. My favorite has been the G1, until the N1 came across my desk, er kiosk... the verdict is still out, a little bit, but I am pretty sure I made the right call for my first brand new and up to date smart phone.

There will always be something better in another 4 months... actually, if history repeats itself, the next round of HTC Android will be this June with "mid grades" and then this fall with the "high end" ones. And what are the chances any of those will be for sale at the price of $530, brand new, unlocked, without contract?

I had a question and I'm not sure you could answer it, but maybe someone else could give me a little insight. I'm 14, turning 15 in september, and I saw that at my local t-mobile shop they had a seasonal sales rep job open. Do you think I could grab this for the summer? I would consider myself a phone/xda forums/android/computer addict. (the computer part being since I was 3 thanks to my dad)

N1 if it EVER comes to sprint!
or maybe the next gen webos phone?
im not buying the evo as most are, im not fond of the design, too bulky IMO.
I'm going for the Evo. I was also concerned about the size, so I went to a T-Mobile store and scoped out the HD2. The size wasn't as bad as I'd feared.

I've already brought my Palm Pre out of retirement and the last five updates that it received while I was away (yes, five!, and a phone that is actually supported and receives updates was surprising to me too) have really made it shine. It's a completely different phone. The high-performance 3D games rock, the web browser kills the one in the Hero, and the whole experience just feels better designed, more natural, and far more professional overall.
WebOS kicks major ass and with HP backing it and "doubling down" on the operating system I think that it has an enormous amount of potential, especially with updated hardware. So my next phone is definitely going to run WebOS. I'm tired of this fragmented Android nonsense and manufacturers who don't stand behind their products at all.
The WebOS homebrew community is utterly amazing as well. They actually publish the source code for their modifications and work together under one project:
http://www.webos-internals.org/wiki/Main_Page
Palm also supports them wholeheartedly. You don't have to root your phone, you simply enter the Konami code (literally by typing upupdowndownleftrightleftrightbastart--a badass easter egg) and it gives you full developer mode access to the device. Palm also publishes the source code that they modify (including the Pre's Linux kernel) under the GPL. They do this automatically without their customers having to stage a formal Twitter protest and waiting four months like HTC made us do last time:
http://opensource.palm.com/
To all my fellow Hero owners, best of luck with your abandoned handset. To those of you who decide to stay with Android, best of luck with your future abandoned handset.
Now that I know Fixxer isn't getting one, I'm going with the Evo.
@Sawawa good luck with your abandoned company (Palm). Whatever talent hasn't already quit will likely be muted by HP.
Maybe I have low expectations, but I only expect a cellphone to last me 6 months - 1 year. The Hero has done that already and still has plenty of life left in it. Whichever Ebayer gets mine will be lucky.

Only one person has quit, and his position was obviated by the HP acquisition. The other executive, the Director of Carrier Marketing, was quite clearly fired for failing to properly market the device, but was allowed to leave gracefully to save face. No one else has left. They believed in the company enough to stick with it while things were dire, I doubt many of them are now suddenly eager to leave with the future looking so bright. HP didn't just spend 1.2 billion to watch the asset that they purchased languish and die.
Whatever. I'd rather be on a platform with some upside. The situation with Android is deteriorating, not getting better. If Google really releases Android 2.2 at their upcoming IO Conference in a few weeks (as is widely expected) can you imagine what kind of clusterfuck that will be?
1.5, 1.6, 2.0, 2.1, 2.2 = LOL

HP killed the Ipaq (PDA), HP also killed the Voodoo brand after they bought it in 2006, so I wouldn't put it past them to squander an asset. I think competition drives better results, so I hope HP can keep Palm together.
I also fail to see Android segregation as hurting anyone. Apps that don't work on different versions aren't available in Market by design. Someone running 1.5 who is upset they don't have Latitude without buying a new phone doesn't qualify as a clusterfuck.
Old phones become obsolete, despite the platform. Check out the Iphone 4.0 software, only the 3gs and the new Iphone are actually going to utilize the majority of the new features available.
I'm at a crossroad and totally not sure what phone will be my next. i have to say that I want an EVO really bad but at the same time, I want a phone that will have prompt future support. My current thinking is that HTC (devices other than Nexus) does not fit that bill. So, at this point, I'm leaning toward the Nexus.

My thoughts exactly. I have a bad taste from what happened with 2.1 on the hero. I don't wan to re-live that with the evo. I think the nexus one would be my next choice also.
I have a pre also and will most likely sell it but if hp makes a super phone in the near future, I will probably go back to webos. I like webos but it is just not growing at a rapid pace and with all the stability issues with the company. The phones not selling for as much as it used to on ebay. I am gonna get out so I don't lose too much money.
Evo and XDA Devs, FTW! Sure hope toast and Flipz get one too.
I'm not eligible to upgrade till who-knows-when, so there will most likely be some exciting phones out by then lol. While I do love Android, I am also a little anxious to see what Blackberry OS 6 (and by then some new hardware) brings to the table. Regardless of OS, I'm fairly certain my next phone is going to have a physical keyboard.
Evo all the way. Since I wasn't thinking when I made my XDA user, I'll have to change it to EvoMeng

so are our phones considered to have "classic status" now?
How about "The best Android device, ever" Status?
...and "No, you can't have one!" Status, LOL
Hehe
We now have one of the best phones no one can get and in limited numbers. There going to be worth some money especially is we get Android 3.0 first. .
the end of an era!

I don't understand how people can keep thinking this... NO THEY WON'T. It's a phone...not a fully restored '69 Lincoln with suicide doors. If it didn't sell in droves, then there wasn't that much demand for it, and that's why it was cancelled. People aren't suddenly going to be wanting one now that it's sold out on the website. There are phones with similar specs out now, and in 3 months there will be even badder phones out. It's life... deal with it guys.
hey look, my (insert phone here) is the best phone ever because (very specific pro of phone here)!!!!
but really, the n1 is a good phone but its already been out for almost 8 months. a new iphone comes out every year and i doubt apple keeps making the previous model until the last day
i think it has some additional historical value as the first and possibly only "google" phone made
Do to coverage issues I had to switch carriers, and moved to Sprint. The Evo is only a consolation prize and a OK now that Cyanogen is working on it. However I did post up my MINT Nexus on Ebay last night. Hope the people out there get a ravenous .
Missing My Nexus
not sold out
you can still buy the phone from a provider. see the help center link and choose your country....
i don't care if it's sold out or not. I have mine!
So if my N1 craps out then theres nothing I can do to get it replaced? I think I'll be putting it away for selling purposes

Erm. Quick problem with that. Wasn't the G1 the first "google" phone? >_>
And I agree. About the n1 being underrated. In my personal opinion (imo), I think that for a phone to still be on the cutting edge, and still holding its own 8 MONTHS after it came out? That's pretty B.A. In my personal opinion, that is.

It just goes to show how far ahead of the market it was at release!
The sad thing is that the N1 still is the best unlocked phone you can buy in the US. This is the first time I see a phone get canceled before something better comes around. Unbelievable. Better take good care of your N1!
Well, me being on AT&T, the Nexus the best phone I can get! I personally don't want or like the Captivate because of it's UGLY design and being manufactered by Samsung. Everyone thinks that the Nexus was a flop because sales weren't high but, the whole reason it was created was to excel Android OS. All the advertisement it had was just a small ammont of internet ads. In my opinion, it was a success. Before the Nexus, the best phone, hardware wise was the Milestone....
Yep, the sophisticated users quickly bought up the rest because it's a developers dream device and will continue to be to some extent!
I'm one for technical innovation, don't get me wrong. I'm loving all the new tech that comes out. The atrix 4g basically wet my panties with its specs.
BUT. I hate how youhave top of the line equipment one day, then 6 months later it is completely outclassed.
Imagine if the video game systems did this?
The gamecube/xbox cam out in 2001
The 360 came out in 2005
The wii in 06
The ps2 is STILL kicken, but its original life was from 2000-2006
And the 360 and ps3 are here for a while to come. That much is clear. Why? Because the hardware is still underutilized!
Yeah, there were remakes, but nothing was remade to the poin where you were just "I HAVE TO UPGRADE."
they build stuff that's aheadof their times. Just recently the gamecube was found to have hidden 3d connectors!
Also, when there is a remake of a system, its usually a LOT cheaper, mostl because the cost of the tech drops. Look at the xbox 360 kinect.
Its like thedifferencebetween the galaxy s and nexus s, yet its CHEAPER!
Now look what else samsung is doing
Our Vibrant Brethren got fluffed big time. T-mo is getting a "Vibrant 4g" which is the vibrant with the original galaxy s specs (same thing but with hspa+ and ffc) and....RUNNING TW FROYO!!!!!!
Samsung is the company I wouldn't wanna follow. I've always loved samsungs hardware. Its always top of the line. But I've never had a samsung phone before this one, and I'm pretty sure this is gonna be my last -_- I thought all the stories about samsungs horrible track record regarding updates was a bunch of hoopla becaue my hero was updated regularly. My thought was "lol if htc is pushing these updates out, imagine samsungs speed!"
Boy was I wrong.
If it wasn't for the android dev community, samsungs android phones would've been dead a long time ago. They should realize this.

I agree with you 497%
http://ps3.ign.com/articles/114/1143070p1.html
just a little link I found about the ps3 totally unrelated to this forum but hey
Intersting observation and comparison. I think the difference is that it takes so much development to introduce a new system that the entire process is excessively costly. From my understanding, each manufacturer (Nintendo, Sony, Microsoft) loses money on each system sold because the costs are so high. They recoup the costs in peripherals and software development (getting game devlopers onboard to make games for their systems). Phone manufacturers make their money on the front end (phone sales) so they have every incentive to continue pushing out as many new phones as possible to cover every segment of the available phone market.
Different ideas at play.

Lol sony really hates having open software. If they REALLY go through the effort of designing a Whole new system JUST to do what htc thought they did with the g2, then the video game world as we know it will clearly be gone.
They sould just pull a nintendo. "Hey, If you manage to hack it, whatevs. But ifyou accidentally update and we brick it, don't get mad boo "

If samsung can release Froyo on all these other carriers worldwide with the TW interface what's truly stopping them from a US release? Is it the fact that if its ready for one carrier and not the others the others ***** threatening to drop samsung support for there customers? That's my opinion on the subject. If and when Froyo is released it will be on all carriers at the same time

Yeah they're probably gonna go the moto route and put a blocked bootloader and then drop all support if you root it lol.
But yeah bck to sammy/sprint, I though about that. Until the nexus s came out with gingerbread on tmo.
Same hardware, latest software. So its clearly possible to put the latest software in.
What if its google?
I mean...so far only the nexus s has gingerread, but all the phones at ces blow the pants off the NS and NONE of them were running gingerbread (cept the arc I guess).
I just wish that they would embrace the O in AOSP.

Very true it could very well be google to promote their "Flagship Device" oddly enough made by Samsung. Which is only available at Best Buy I believe still and not through T-Moblie Corporate (why I don't know). The only reason I don't think that it is Google is the fact that Google has promoted the "O" in AOSP to the fullest if they didn't we wouldn't be on this site with this discussion. Sammy could have struck a deal worth millions with Google to have their device pushed through so quickly. I still have yet to play with one. From what I have heard it's not very sturdy. That's from friends and acquaintances at Best Buy. They recommend the Vibrant over that thing if T-Mobile is your thing.
There is also the issue of phone contracts. So they are not catering to the same exact customers. For example, I am out of the market because I recently purchased the Epic. But, there are other people whose contracts are just ending or will be ending soon. So they constantly need the next new thing out there to entice those folks into paying customers. Video game hardware is different because there are new video games (as opposed to new phones). The games developers make better games over time by learning the hardware. While phone manufacters make better (usually) phones over time.

And some games have better resale value than others. Imagine if Game Stop was called Phone Stop and you could trade your old phone in for half the price you paid for it and buy a new one. I think I just had an epiphany lol. That settles it. Who's in with me to start this company lol. We just need $50,000 to start. I take pay-pal too lol
Haha. It's a nice notion. Ebay is the de facto 'phone stop' though. But hey, I have $1 to pitch in for start up money

It may not compare to console gaming, but look at PC gaming which gets "outdated" faster than phones. Sure <insert game> will run marginally better on a high end gaming PC built today compared to 6 months ago, but the same game will play just fine on that 6 month old system.
I bought this phone in particular to future proof myself. The hardware on this thing should be more than efficient enough to handle anything thrown at it software wise until my contract is up for another upgrade.

Yeah I will give Sammy that. The Hardware is absolutely unbelievable. I just get angry with all the software upgrades going around to other phones and not the Samsung "Flagship" (other than the Nexus S) device. I mean come on the Intercept has 2.2.
This is the phone I was waiting to get. Received good reviews at majority of sites.
But reading about all the nightmares on every forums, all the bugs, everyone returning/exchanging it,etc.
I played with one at store for over an hour and it seemed very quick with not too many problems. I liked but its not enough time to see all the problems.
The Bell store here is selling it for $0 now on a contract. That's how desperate they are to get rid of it.
So in 10 days the price was already chopped twice.
Am I really going to have to go thru 5 units to find a decent working one?
I can live with a locked bootloader for now but everyday a new issue seems to be coming up.
It seems like this phone is a year away from being done/updated.
What are the main problems/defects I should check on before exchanging for another to make sure I'm not stuck with a crappy model.
Thanks.
Wished Motorola would get their heads out their asses with all their products.
Come out with something good then they do everything they can to **** it up somehow. You can tell them you'll sell millions of their crappy stock and they still would not unlock the bootloader. That's how seriously stupid they are.
btw, I'm actually a Motorola shareholder. Thankfully Motorola Solutions is not a complete loser.
I came from a captivate and Nexus one. I dont have any glaring issues - theres ALWAYS *****ing for every phone whenever its released. Take everything you read on forums with a grain of salt.

I have had ZERO problems with my phone out of the box. Same goes for 2 other people I know personally.
One just doesn't like Blur.
My brother used it as his primary computer since he got it and can't stop extolling the virtues of Webtop.
He's an IT professional and coordinated a 13+ site migration from one network to another ALL from the Laptop dock.
Some of the sites he was at didn't have wifi so he was using webtop over AT&T for his ONLY connection.
Said he spent more time trouble shooting his laptop the one day he forgot the charger for the Laptop Dock then he spent troubleshooting the phone or laptop dock for the entire 2 weeks.
If citrix is a big part of your life this phone could revolutionize your life.
No problems here. I haven't experienced any bugs except for the touch screen wigging out after a 12 second hold in one place.
It is a little disconcerting that Bell has decided to drop the price only a few weeks into launch. I hope the community stays strong because I intend on keeping it.
Ditto for me -- I'm using an unlocked AT&T version on Rogers network in Canada --- absolutely LOVE the phone. Came from a Galaxy-S, Captivate, and iPhone 4 before that.
This is the best one by far, and the best android implementation so far for me.
$0 on contract!?! holy ****. just get it!

andy2na and captaincanada84 are right, some people will ***** just to *****. With that said, I have done my fair share of "complaining" but it's based on my opinion. You really can't go to a forum and ask people if you should buy something because you are going to get both sides of the fence. Just browse the forum and pay attention to what people are praising about and what people are complaining about and try to decide from that. It's really going to come down to YOUR preference.
I love my atrix.
My only problem is the facebook contact sync because of moto blur, I am having some issues with it not updating my contacts pictures.
Battery life is awesome I am sometimes in disbelief how long the battery lasts 1 day + with everything on and actually using the phone which is a must..
My phone doesn't randomly reboot I don't know about other people.
As for the locked bootloader I'm not in a rush. I have launcher pro and root so thats all I need.
Previous phones. G1, Nexus one, Dell Streak.
Dude what Bell store is that? It's still $69.95 on the Bell site.
You just need to remember that nobody goes to a forum to state that everything is working perfectly, they only post when they have a problem. So, you have to keep that in mind.
I've been running my Atrix since it was first released and it's been very stable. My only issue is it seems to not like my AT&T microcell too much. I get dropped connections when on my microcell. Works fine eveywhere else. It's a huge improvement over my Nexus 1.
Also think about how many people are using the phone that don't read forums... So far I am extremely happy with this phone. I usually hate upgrading because there is always another phone better right around the corner, but you'll find yourself waiting forever in that case. My only dislike is the facebook integration in blur breaking contact syncing.

Yes, please tell. I know a lot of people looking for an Atrix right now and would kill for that. If I weren't on a great retention rate plan with Rogers I'd get that in a heartbeat.
Thanks for replies everyone.
I think a lot of the negativity is people trying to trash a new device or envy. Plus it gets popular to trash any locked phone these days.
I've been waiting to get this phone since it was announced. The 4" screen seems perfect in size. Had no problem looking at the pentile graphics.
Its just scary to see the price drop so fast, it rarely happens here in Canada unless something is a super flop like the Samsung Tab, idk.
But I'm mostly going to get it in a few days and hopefully there's a good future with it and developers on here. Always learn something new. Some people are just to lazy to play around with the phone to get the max out of it.
How is the overheating? It seemed rather warm at the store.

Yea I asked Bell why the price drop to $69.95 and they said "because we like to give our customers a discount", which is total BS, but it's not like they're going to flat out tell me the device is a flop.
If you want to pick it up I would suggest getting it soon because according to the Bell reps I talked to the sale ends on March 31st.

Patience All devices are judged pretty harshly at the beginning.. You just got to reap from the benefits with a slashed price!
I'm completely happy with mine- it's fast, the screen is beautiful and it's got more internal storage than I need. If you're not a fan of motoblur, gingerblur will make you happy!
Go ahead and take the plunge.

Its hard to believe they'll put it back to the original price after the "sale" with all the new other smartphones coming but who knows.
More worried about Bell taking forever with updates. This with 2.3 and then 2.4 will just scream.
i love this phone to death.
best phone i have ever had.
The ability to turn into a PC is the biggest plus. This phone has so much potential. Honestly what motorola does with the bootloader and such sucks, but so long as we can at least root/sideload, personally, I am completely fine with that.
Motorola also stated that every one of their phones in the future will have webtop. So I will be sticking with motorola android phones (specially once Tegra 3D comes out) for a while until a better company has a similar PC like feature embedded on the phone. Can't go wrong with the powerful atrix! Emulators and games run SO smooth... love it.
