[APP] rumen's Guitar - WM6 guitar aplication with chords - Windows Mobile Development and Hacking General

App name: rumen's Guitar
License: Freeware
System requirements:
OS: WM5 and higher, CF3.5
Hello everyone,
recently I've been searching for a working guitar aplication for WM6 and full touchscreen (like HD2) but I didn't find anythig useful.
So I decide to wrote one by myself. This app is far away from perfect, but I'm new in developing and I will improve it in the future.
I will upload and some videos soon.
For future implementations :
- load text files in that empty text box - for song and lyrics that you can see them during playing;
- increase the quality of sound - it is very poor now;
- multitouch - if it is possible;
- improve speed of playing;
- to put some strings ;
- distosion ......
There is a lot of things that can be done. This is just a start point.
See you soon.
Rumen.
Newer version available: v1.1
New feautures:
1. Strings and some graphic.
2. Text box for lyric and chords with buttons for movement.
3. Load, edit and save txt files.
Newer version available: v1.2
New feautures:
1. Added exit function - File ->Exit
2. Workable link in help menu.

Thanks!!!
Nice app and great job, Rumen! WM 6.x really misses guitar-simulation apps. The only one I've known so far is Iperov's guitar. So, big thanks for you work!
I've been working on guitar app too. Hope to publish it on XDA-developers soon.
As for the version 1.1 of you app:
It would be great if an app didn't stay in memory when it is closed by pressing cross button.

Well, actually this is a WM function - programs are not closed when you press
X button, there are just minimized and stays in memory.
However, I will add an exit function this night

just download it and looking forward to give it a try... 1000 appreciation to rumen...

excellent
Thanks big for the excellent program!
This best that is today. I like a sound and speed of its work.
If you have a possibility to make little changes it would be ingenious!
1. To choose skin for the program (without a text field).
2. Work in the full screen.
3. A sound stop through long pressing strings.
4. Record, listen and save the played melodies. Background playing.
5. Sound change (acoustics, electric, rock, metal).
I will be glad to see your new work.

skin
I offer such skin

love your work... u make my life full of joy....... 1000 appreciations

Thank you for appreciations. Glad that you like this app.
I know that there are a lot of things that can be done.
Will try some of the prepositon soon.
Unfortunally, the time is awlays against us.

QVGA got scrollbars, but works ok.
Olleg1 made good proposals.
Lyrics textbox useless, if you hold PDA as guitar.
Also, "iperov's Pocket Guitar" has open sources which may (or may not) be helpful

editor of chords
Hi, rumen80. With impatience I wait for new versions of your program.
One more offer: add please the editor of chords, with possible preservation in base.
Hands are scratched for test a new skin with the big buttons of chords .
rumen's Guitar to give me pleasures from night game.

That's great.. waited for ages.. SUPPORTING
will be great with distort and much better graphics

[New Release] Egg-Timer

Hi,
after purchasing Visual Studio 2005 i have finished the first release (and the first program!) of an Egg-Timer. I have removed the need of CF2.0 - it should work now on every PDA without any additional download.
Some comments on it?
Feature Plan:
- Switch off screen during count down to save battery power
- save user settings
- customize layout: change backgroud color and color of buttons
- add more counter to stop time in parallel
- save entire recipes which can direcly be loaded to the counter
Revision History
v1.4
- Second Sound just before the countdown ends (15 seconds)
- Remove the requirement of the .net CF2.0
- implemented a stop watch
v1.3
Major functionality included in the progi:
- PDA prevent from switching off during countdown
- Sound stops by pressing either Stop or Start button
v1.2
- Some Bugfixes
- fixed: Scrollbars removed
- About Menu included
- Start Button is usable from right softkey
v1.1
- wave file is selectable now
- thumbfriendly
- Some Default suggestions
- Speed up the timer by menu to get an enhanced accuracy
- Options Menu included
Let me know if it works on your device.
Looks great! Will test it soon!
This i like. But this is really a prog u need to make thumbfriedly! I mean minutes and secons. and also have a memory so u just can press for instance the usuall 3 minutes.

Thumbfriendly - hmm - thats a good improvement. I will put it on my todo list. I have some good ideas. This issue is very easy to implement. Let me see if i can release a new version in short time. Nevertheless: Do you know that you can just tap on one of the NumericUpDownCounter with a thumb and control it via the DPAD? That is also comfortable....
The other idea with a memory is also a good idea but it is more tricky to implement. I have to read in more detail of programming. Maybe some registry storing or an ini file will be ok. At a first i will implement some hardcoded suggestions. This is easy to implement.
Thank you for the good ideas.

EggTimer gives an error.
EggTimer needs a newer version of .NET Compact Framework than is installed on the device.
I’m getting a “InvalidProgramException”.
I’m using ROM 2.01a.64WWE; WM5.0 OS 5.1.195 (Build 14847.2.0.0) so I do have the newest version?
Or isn’t it a standard part of the OS?
If not, where can I get a newer version of .NET Compact Framework?

You need the CF 2.0 and can download it here:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...6b-356b-4a2c-857c-e62f50ae9a55&DisplayLang=de
But if you can wait some time i will release a version without the needs of the CF 2.0 ...
I just tried your eggtimer and its really good! But just rememered that i tried something like this before..
the problem is u want to turn off the device so that i reserves power.. but the timer doesnt work than. Two possible workarounds ( im no programmer so bare with me) either have a buttan that swithes of the display OR maybe its possible to check the realtime clock and activate the alarm after the right amount of time?.. just a sugestion.. if possible
Regards
Good job topcaser come along way since the first release.
I like the fact the backlight stays on so you can keep an eye on the time, when cooking your egg, so an optional light/screen on/off would be a good idea.
When i tried it on my wizard alarm kept going off even when i closed the program hope that can be fixed.
Maybe an idea to startup with the standard 3 minutes (default) and have an option to change.
Thanks again, i shall return
p.s. great you released without the net, boy do i hate that thing fills up your memory!?!?
Find attached 2 egg timer images - perhaps that can be made into an ico file for your exe - a high profile program like yours needs an icon
Will give this ago when I get AS back on my PC...
Thanks
Terran
When I start it, it closed down :?:
I have net installed using it on a rx 3715 with WM2003SE
Not sure if you are still developing it or not. I like it very much. Just hope it get better.
1. Make it save the state when exiting (stopwatch or not, timer preset data).
2. Move the bigger buttons (start/stop/proceed) to the bottom, so that it can be easily touched by thumb.
3. If the stopwatch doesn't start from zero, I still didn't find a way to reset it to zero.
Palm has a freeware: stopwatch, which is very easy to use:
Pic
Palm also has a good freeware for timer: bigwatch, in which touching the min/hour/sec upper part will increase 1, touching the lower part will decrease 1, very concenvient.
bigclock
Good luck!

New betas of MortPlayer and MortScript

Just in case you didn't notice:
There are new betas for MortPlayer (3.31b69, also RC) and MortScript (4.11b2).
The new MortPlayer beta fixes a lot of bugs, only the phone call pause still seems to cause troubles on some devices. But I'm afraid there's no way to avoid that without causing troubles on other devices (buggy manufacturer implementations of a crappy MS concept...).
It also includes some new features, like more finger support (list scrolling, finger gestures for track/Favorite change) or defining the upcoming track (select track and tap "Next track:" info). Configuration has been made a bit more easy, too, esp. by a simplyfied Favorite configuration dialog. For Skins, there are some new options, like defining the height or a separating line for list entries or switching back to previous screen, which are also used in the new default skin (MortVista).
MortScript doesn't offer many changes so far, but some might still be interesting, e.g. a SendKeys that should work faster and more reliable, an Include command (include Subs defined in other files), or line number in error messages.
Oh, and since it seems so commonplace here to beg for donations - I won't deny them either... (PayPal button below menu on my site..)
Hi,
this is my report of new MortPlayer Version:
Menus are very clear
integration of good tips
easy to use, even without Stylus
good energy saving options
what I miss:
fade in and out at play and stop
fade to next title

Starbase64

What exactly happens when you do what? If I got it right, you select "Menu" - "Exit program", and then it stays still active?
Playlist navigation via D-Pad
Hi,
I do not know if it is possible, but I would like to be able to scroll and select a song from the playlist using D-Pad's up/down and select buttons. If I use these buttons in the playlist now they rise/lower volume and play/pause the playback.
Thanks,
Fran

You can assign up/down button to "Move selection". However, they won't have any action in any other screen.
So far, MortPlayer hasn't the concept of a focused element, so there's no difference whether you're "in the playlist" or not.
In most cases, that's also better that way on PPCs, because you'd rather have e.g. left/right skip the track instead of selecting another element (like in usual dialogs). Only the playlist is an exception I didn't find a really good solution... To simply redefine the up/down behaviour might be unexpected/-wanted, too (i.e., I could get mails the volume up/down - or whatever's assigned to DPad up/down - "doesn't work").
@Menneisyys: I don't plan to include much in MortPlayer until the release, though I've still lots on my "to do" list. But it's about time there's finally a new release version, esp. if you consider most beta versions were more stable than 3.3...
I just have to fight procrastinating all the work that's related with a release, like writing a new manual (about 60% done), recollect all changes (lost my old changelog...), fill the homepage description (another thing lost due to server troubles...), and so on.
Well, and then there's the upcoming MortButtons update - which doesn't offer that much new functionality (mostly animations and a simple Today plugin), but oviously peoply like to show off with eye candy since the iPhone.
(And I'm still suprised about all that fuzz over Cube, Spb Menu, and the like, since MortButtons had a similar concent for ages - and even combining it with an HButton like "one button" selection...)
Mort yeah the only way I can close it is to kill the player. I must add that I use the wizard reTOUCHED rom. Everything else works perfectly. I just cannot close the app.

Ionly plan to finish / publish the Multimedia Bible in late February the earliest (I've decided to wait for the 1.2 release of CorePlayer in order to avoid the Bible getting outdated in a few weeks), so, you have plenty of time to get into the Bible with your latest-and-greatest features
Updated to TNT 1933 and the mortplayer works perfectly. Awesome player dude
album cover
ouch, How comes the album cover is so small? would have looked soooo much better bigger. everything else is great though. but the cover is just a blur
thanks this is really the best music player great work!

Ah mort i found out why the player doesnt want to exit .. or maybe when . Its when it is installed to the SD Card and i use a skin like the myPod skin. When using the default it refuses to exit. Hope this helps
I'll see what I can do about it... It's a very strange behaviour...
And now for something completely different: The current MortScript betas has some nice enhancements, esp. a status window that allows user feedback without interrupting the execution of the script.
MortPlayer 3.31b69 sound quality
Have been using MortPlayer 3.31b34 for what seems like ever (great player)
I thought I would install the latest beta (b69) to try out the finger gestures & hopefully benefit from other improvements.
All works great except the sound quality is not quite as good, less bass & harsher high tones/vocals ! All the settings are exactly the same.
Have swapped between the two versions & can distinguish the difference easily.
Any idea what changes have implemented this !

will mortplayer ever play m4a?

There are only two changes regarding the sound system: MAD has been updated (usually it causes better quality for most MP3s) and the default volume has been reduced to 80% (like in WMP).

The current beta includes the corresponding GSPlayer plugin. However, it seems like it doesn't work on all devices...
Dude, mort-tools are awesome. I'm using MortPlayer and Mortscript. Keep up the good work.
One issue with the MortPlayer : I use the latest Beta with IMort Skin (really great with finger gesture and covers ) but when i minimize the Programm and start for e.g. Excel or a JavaGame the sound stopps.

iTask Animated 0.92.5 29.feb -RELEASED!!

Release 0.92.5 of iTask:
-------------------------------------------
Please don't get upset if I change something on each release, or that it is hard to modify. I know all this, and it is in everyones interest to make iTask work smoothly in every way, before making a good settingsprogram. If not, the settingsprogram would need changes every time I modified something in iTask, and that would slow down the whole development progress.
This is a development-in- progress app. This means you can use the beta, before the final release, and I get some feedback on bugs. Thankfully some in the community has taken a keen interest in sharing feedback, and therefor iTask Betas are still coming pretty often.
I know it's hard for some people to edit the input.txt and I hope someone with programming knowledge will be up for the task of creating a settingsprogram for iTask when I come to 1.0. I do not know much programming, only Flash.
Thanks, Rhov23
-------------------------------------------
Place folder at "root of your device"
Image of where the root is, and where to place folder:
ROOT
VIDEO OF ITASK 0.91
-You need to install Flash lite 2.1 player
-Itask.zip is the old version. itask_0_92.zip is the next and itask_0_92_5.zip is the newest.
-WHEN YOU OPEN iTask for the first time, or after a soft reset, or if unread sms or contactlist is not working, run SERVER.EXE.
Server.exe runs invicible in the background.
OPEN WITH ITASK.SWF
A GOOD TIP FOR EDITING: If you have a copy of the itask-folder on your computer, you can use flash player in Windows to play it there as well, for quick reference when you add images or text. Instead of dpad button, press enter
Newest 0.92.5
-Added many variables to input.txt so non-english can modify more.
-Added some variables to new background images, so you can for example change the background of the Minical or contacts
-Made contactapp a bit prettier, and you can now click on phone to make a call, or email to email a contact (if you have email for that contact).
-Teleprovider name
-Name of wifirouter
-Name of bluetooth connection
- Username
-Small fixes
Done 0.92:
-Unread sms
-Unanswered calls
-Unread email
-Buttons can now be gif/jpg/swf/png(with transparency)
-20 more app buttons ( open apps, slide to right)
-Slide to unlock has been changed to be a execute link instead, so now you can use a better screenlocker
-Changeable background for news and settings.
-You can use gif/jpg/png/swf for background-image as well
-Write has been moved to iProgs, so now mainbutton1 is open for external app.
-Rubik's cube game
-Soccer tricks game
-Sokoban game.
-Tetris look upgraded.
-Contacts app Alpha version.
-Many small fixes
-Volume and network or other system info not fixed yet.
Done 0.91:
-Rewritten from flash 7 to Flash lite (Painstaking!)
-New news reader (looks the same, but all new because of flash lite limitations on the old one.) It's faster, you can add as many feeds as you want. Use right/left hardbutton to change feeds. Also added browser link for reading the whole article.
-New calendar (because the old one didn't work in flash lite)
-Rewrote parts of weather. (because the old one didn't work in flash lite)
-New drawing app. Much smoother, more functions.
-New timer. (because the old one didn't work in flash lite)
-New snake game
-New bubblebreaker game
-New solitaire! (this took an awful long time to make)
-Added 4 search functions to write
-Added urls.txt: rss feeds addresses should be put here
-New loadani.exe: Screenshot app. Takes screenshots of all your apps and saves them as the appropriate loadani. Start the exe and see what I mean.
-Many small fixes
To do (in the near future)
- Your ideas (not to complex, please)
MODIFYING:
-Input.txt is where you do all text/execute modification.
All buttonimages are adressed in this file by numbers from 1-X, from the top left to the bottom right. Same with text, executelinks etc.
-Buttons should be 40x40 pixels.
Background images: 240x320 pixels.
-All jpg files MUST be NON-PROGRESSIVE. Keep the file sizes low.
Hope you like it!
This is a developing in progress app. I need feedback!
Please DONATE what you think this app is worth for you, if you like it of course
Downloading...
Edit: this is really nice! it is from my first tests very stable, not found any bugs at all yet.
maybe now you could try and make the frame rate per second higher, so that the animations would go smoother,
i am no programmer and i dont know if thats possible with mortscript..
keep it up! o and the spider walking down the keyboard is funny!! haha
PS: Thanks
Its a very nice looking interfece, but i agree that it needs a larger frame rate, so the animation is smoother. Starts instantly though. Ive got a problem in that it launches calculator no matter what icon i press. And, before it launches calculator, it says please post a screenshot of the application you use here or something similar.
Looks very promising, I'll try it soon...

Very nice for a first release. Well done !
1) Still didn't check all options, but as tomazez stated, a better frame rate would be great. It's not as smooth as Pointui or other UI replacements.
2) I don't know what's the need for the page that opens after clicking on a program's button (the one we should replace with a jpg pic) I'd prefer getting immediately to the program/settings page.

This is where your modification comes into play.
The image that comes before you launch calculator is to be replaced by you, with a screenshot of your program. If people will begin to share screenshots and icons, this will be a lot easier for all of us

Beautifully done! With some work, this could blow FreeStylWM and PointUI Home out of the water! Provided that we all get the video driver needed by all HTC products using the MSM7200 chipset, do you think that this will improve on the speed with some DirectX code thrown in? I'm no Windows Mobile developer (yet) but I'd love to help with this wonderful project (even if it's MortScript modifications or beta testing!)

FLIPSLIDE v0.95 RELEASED

Added a quick fix file for users with 0.95 installed
-Fixes the huge weather icon
-All programs including subfolders show up under programs
-volume control under settings just controls flipslide sounds not pda volume.
-also an option in flipslidelaunch.ini to turn of sound always just add false to the bottom.
-Tasks are organized properly and tasks with no due date don't display 1/1/01
Just unzip FlipSlide_0.95_Fix.zip below and copy to your \program files\FlipSlide directory on your pda, also delete your flipslide.ini and flipslidelaunch.ini files in the home \ directory.
Enjoy.
The new version which is dedicated to speed and size is coming along nicely, I may be able to finish it this weekend. It is about 7 times smaller in size and should hopefully be atleast 5 times quicker for load time and runtime.

Works good on my Axim X51V using WM6.1 but can I customize it? Don't use Media Player for example.. Also on the first page it shows tasks but no appointments! Anyway it's a great thing, one of the best I've tested so far!
Just in time to get nominated for the awards!Of course, without a QVGA version.....
Thans for the feedback
About the calendar, The calendar button on the front page is your daily planner. It shows only appointments for the day, you can press the arrors above it to go forward and back days and pressing the center bar returns you to your current day. If any on the front page icons have a green bar under it then that means you have data in it.
For the QVGA option, I do plan on building one however it's a little difficult because i only have a vga pda and I want to design it differently for QVGA, this program was designed to not have to use a stylus and take advantage of the large display. I want to use a diffent touch interface for QVGA that better maximizes the space for it's specs. But yes, it's in my plans.
For the video link, i've have problems getting one uploaded because i can't find the software to retrieve it from my camera an they don't allow you to download it. And software recorders for the PDA always seem to make it look choppy which it i not. If anyone doesn't mind recording a short vid and put it on youtube or somewhere i can access it I would be very greatful.
About customization, My next release I plan to allow changes to default programs for media, contact, tasks, dialer and such. I also plan of making this skinable. I definately agree withyou, I also don't use media player as my default player.
Thank you very much for all your feedback. I will keep posting more, I usualy create new releases each week or two.

thank you very I will test it and give you feedback!
about the calendar again, it has a green bar but when I press it doesn't show any entry! the tasks icon works for me!
It looks nice. I will try it.

This is only for the VGAversion????
Thanks...
Might bring some competition to PointUI in later builds!
Feedback
Hey TacoLoco, I was wondering if you could give me more info about your calendar problem, like do you have appointments in microsoft calendar for the day? and if so are your appointments a single occurance or weekly, monthly or yearly appointments that are in microsoft calendar but not in flipslide?
also i was wondering what PDA and OS your using.
Any further feedback would be very helpful.
Thanks

My Touch is QVGA...
QVGA project started
Ok, i'm starting the QVGA program today, It will probably be by this weekend or at latest by next before it's up. But It seems enough people are interested.
Since I don't actualy own a QVGA PDA, and virtualization runs unrealistically slow, I may need testing help from people along the way.

[APP] Star Trek Communicator (new CAB +REQ for better version)

*** CLICK HERE FOR A WORKING CAB VERSION ***
REQUEST (for better version):
Hi all coders! I have a request for a new Diamond app to fulfil my geek fantasies! Here is what I would like it to do:
Flicking the Diamond (like Kirk flicking open a Star Trek original series communicator) will perform the following actions:
1) Play attached .WAV file (or make it configurable)
2) Come out of standby (if in standby or backlight was off)
3) Go to configurable location (e.g. Home, Phone, Notes etc.)
I wouldn’t normally make such a request but considering some of the great apps appearing on this board I thought it would be worth a try
Cheers!
I like this
nice idea
Nice idea!
As a Trekker and sci-fi geekette myself would love this to go with the wonderful Star Wars lightsaber app
EDIT: Ignore this.
Sorry, I misread your post
This is a Great idea! please someone help us out here
Very interested to see how this works! I wonder how easy it is to develope for this phone...any pointers anybody?
yeah. this sounds like an awesome idea.
I noticed other threads saying that it would not be possible to wake up from standby as the g-sen doesn't poll then.
shame.
But I think it would still be fun, when on, to flick/flip the phone and get the wav sound and jump to the phone/dialer screen...
am i geeking out a little too much??

That is a shame but understandable as the battery life would be even worse than it currently is.
Maybe tapping one of the volume keys to wake up the G-Sensor will be a possible solution?
And no, you can never be too geeky!
I vote for this. Great idea.
Working Trek communicator sound!
As is it is unlikey that someone will write an app to do this, I have created a little something with the little knowledge I have!
The attached file will allow you to get the classic Star Trek communicator sound everytime you come out of standby by pressing the Power Button.
Requirements:
You will need to install MortScript available from here:
http://www.sto-helit.de/index.php?module=download&action=view&entry=65
Installation:
- Once MortScript has been installed, create a folder in Internal Storage called 'Trek'
- Copy all files in the attached zip to this folder
- Using File Explorer on your device, click on 'TrekEnable'
Options:
There are no options per se, but you can do the following:
- Using Notepad on your PC, modify the file 'TrekPlay.mscr' to play a different WAV file of your choice. I have included two versions of the Star Trek communicator sound, a quiet version (enabled by default) and a loud version
- If you would like the files in another location, you must modify all the .mscr files and change the path
Uninstall:
- Using File Explorer on your device, click on 'TrekDisable'
- Delete the 'Trek' folder
NOTES: I have noticed that if you quickly power off then on again it will not play the sound. If you power off and leave it for about 10 seconds or more before powering on again it should work
Enjoy!
Works good man Thx
Edited: But for some reason time to time it plays the sound twice or three times..
New Cab Version
OK, I managed to get an easy to install and uninstall CAB working for this. You no longer need to install MortScript either.
The attached file will allow you to get the classic Star Trek communicator sound everytime you come out of standby by pressing the Power Button.
Installation:
- Copy the attached CAB to your phone and run it
- Select where you want to install it: Device or Internal Storage (I recommend Device as it is only 120Kb and should work faster)
Options:
NOTE: Default install directory is \Program Files\Wired Trek Communicator
There are no options per se, but you can do the following:
- Modify the file 'TrekPlay.mscr' to play a different WAV file of your choice. I have included two versions of the Star Trek communicator sound, a quiet version (enabled by default) and a loud version
Uninstall:
- Go to Settings > Remove Programs and select 'Wired Trek Communicator' then click 'Remove'
KNOWN ISSUES:
- If you quickly power off then on again it will not play the sound. If you power off and leave it for about 10 seconds or more before powering on again it should work
- Sometimes it will not sound after powering on but you may find that certain events cause it to sound afterwards, such as certain notifications
- It will also play the sound when removing the stylus if the phone comes out of standby
- If phone is in standby and you have set an alarm, the sound will play before your alarm sound
Some of these issues are down to Windows Mobile, others I may be able to workaround at some point.
Found another issue: Doesn't work properly with S2U2. Makes only sounds if I put in the USB cable which is attached to my PC.
Came across this post yesterday and thought to myself, that's a cool idea!
So I gave it a go, let me know what you think.
Download here: http://trueeddie.com/?p=49
PS: I haven't done extensive testing, so if there are issues just tell me.
It requires .net 3.5. You can install that with out your carrier though.
The app brings up the dialer and plays the communicator sound when you flick your wrist
