Hi there
i've had a search through the forums and google, but havent come up with anything...
the isue is, after flashing a new CWM NAND ROM on my HD2, the rom will load perfectly the first time. however the issue is when i try to reboot the phone... it loads through cwm, but hangs on loading the rom...
this has happened on several different rom's, and after several task29/mgldr/cwm re-flashes...
Any ideas?
Cheers

Have you tried doing absolutely nothing after first boot, other than skipping through the setup wizard? What I'm wondering is what you may be installing / doing that could be causing this.
One thing that could help is to run logcat with the phone connected during bootup and you could see what is causing it.

Yeah, looking at your log, you are definitely in a boot loop. Android keeps restarting after what looks like initializing the audio... looks like some files are missing.
What ROM are you using? Have you applied anything (updates) else at all through CWM other than the ROM? Does the ROM you are using require an SD-EXT partition? Is your SD card in the phone?

Which version of CWM are you using? Is it 1.13? Whatever it is, what size did you flash (the partition layout) for your system partition?

I'm using the latest versions of Magldr and CWM. I flashed a 250Mb system partition.

Are you sure that is a large enough partition? Is that what the ROM developer recommends?

just use the "daf" folder that comes with the build once you unzip it.
it has the CWR setting configuration all done ready for the build
just flash it.
My issue is: When phone loads android from NAND (sometimes it freezes in GO GO GO) I can use it some unpredictable time. FE. When I switching Mobile Network on it(after 1-2 it freezes). I even upgraded radio to 2.15. No changes still freezes. Second point is, when I turn off radio module and starting using dev. (FE while playing Angry Birds) it freezes again, with the noise on spekers. In my case I detaching battery and waiting for a while (because if you put battery again after a second) it freezes on GOGOGO again. WTF with device. Maybe it is a physical problem?
Dev is TMOUS HD2 16gb.
ps. When I used Android via SD same freeze always happened only with Angry Birds. In WinMo I didnt recognize such issues. Oooh. One more thing. When I tried to go back to WM 6.5 off.ROM. nothing happened after upgrade. I think my device will always live with Android till the end of the days. Thank you in advance!

I know this has been asked but i couldnt find the answer. I have Cope's gingerbread CM7 i booted the first time and it worked fine then i rebooted again and it just didn't pass the green htc screen. i waited 15 mins. what should i do? Delete and reinstall? format sd card? help please and thank u
I've seen a couple of things cause this...
1) The SD card may need reformatting... Of course (should go without saying), backup whatever you have on it first.
2) Pull the battery and try booting again.
3) If you're using CWM be sure you're using the 150MB partition setup for MDJs CM7 ROM.

CWM = Clockwork Mod which is used for flashing and backing up NAND roms. N/A to you as you are using an sd build.
As was suggested above, your best bet is to format your sd card and start again. Ensure you have a .50 radio - 2.07.50 or above IIRC

Do you have the correct radio version? IIRC for sd Android builds you need 2.07.50.xx or higher .50 radio.
i just got my htc hd2 cause someone stole my old one, on my old one, it was easy 2 put android on the sd, with my new hd2 no rom will work, it loads, but when android turns on it will lag, and apps crash and say force close, and the market wont work, i tried this and mcc's 4.5 and its the same thing happening, what should i do?
Have you tried a full wipe in clockwork and then installed? Do that as your first option and if that doesn't work then Task29, reflash MAGLDR/cLK then clockwork and then your ROM.
im noob, i dunno what clockwork is and how 2 do that? and i never used mgldr/clk on my old hd2, i just did a simple drag and drop onto my sd card, then flashed it, and it always worked fine, now when it works, theres always problems, also, do you know how i can reformat my sd card? ty for help, appriciate it!

Yeah you need to install HSPL and a new radio. Again, there are several guides on how to do this. Search around a bit. One thing though, if it was me, I would just install on NAND and bypass windows altogether. The guide linked above should tell you all about it and how to do it.

It's this easy...
I thought I'd post here since I'm having a problem with android install and I'm a noob as well (probably more noob than the person posting here). I tried installing nand android on my HD2 and followed the steps exactly. At least I'm pretty sure I did. I installed MAGDLR, then the recovery, and then android. Everything seems fine when booting except it just hangs at the HTC screen. I left it at the HTC screen over night since I heard the first boot would be long. So now I am wondering what are my options. I wanted to install WM again so I can retry the android rom install but since it stuck at the HTC screen, device manager doesn't see it. I didn't brick it did I? Thanks for your help in advance!

Couple things, did you first install HSPL and radio? Those go on before anything else. Second, how did you install the rom? Through usb or through recovery? Lastly, if you flashed via recovery, how did you transfer the zip to sd card? CWM has been known to corrupt files during transfers. I would recommend using a usb card reader or through magldr's usb mount option.
Actually one last thing. Make sure you have selected the correct recovery size. A ROM requiring 150mb will work on a 400mb partiotion, but not the other way around.

It's actually MAGLDR that corrupts files, not clockwork.
It's most likely that you don't have the right partition size though. You can change the partition by going to your clockwork file on your PC, opening it, then look for a file 'flash.cfg' and right click on it and open it in a text editor, then editing the line "system ya | 150" to whatever the ROM needs. The '150' will most likely be 150, 300 and 400 etc. so just change the numbers and save it.
ok i will try and do nand, what is one of the best nand to use, ty so much for help.
Hmm maybe you're right skelly, not sure. Either way it's best to use a card reader.

I would have always said one of the CM versions... great ROMs. Finally tried MIUI this week in preperation for putting it on my woman's G2 (always thought it looked like a girly ROM). OMG I'm hooked! I don't think I can ever go back to CM again. It's blown me away.
But you cannot go wrong with the popular CM ROMs. I tried the Sense one also for the eyecandy I love... but none of them ran smoothly for me.
So - I'm no expert but I've flashed enough Roms in my time and suddenly it's all gone horribly wrong.
I have done
1) Task 29 with 2.15.50.14 - SUCCESS
2) Installed MAGLDR 1.13 - SUCCESS
3) Installed Recovery 3.0.2.6 - SUCCESS
4) Copied ROM to SD card (one that always worked before) - SUCCESS
Now get NAND OPEN KERNEL. I'm stumped. I've checked the recovery has the partitions that the ROM requests and I've checked other SD cards. All format properly.
What to do

People have had the this issue, yes. But no-one that has done everything right. The ROM i am using is a NAND rom that worked before (but I checked with two other ROMS and still have the same problem).
I purposely wrote each step so you can see exactly what I have done. I cannot see what I have done wrong. I am starting to think its a phone hardware issue.

Try flashing the original wm6.5 rom, if it works then try android afterwards. One possible thing it could be is bad blocks. After you flash the rom BEFORE you reboot, select from advanced options the one that logs your installation, and check it for errors.
One last thing is make sure you cwm sizes are correct.

Thanks - that's an excellent idea (flashing the 6.5 rom) not least because it's the only think I havent tried.
From memory, 6.5 is flashed straight from bootloader with RUU so there I'm not able to get in to advanced options. Or are you saying after flashing 6.5, install MAGLDR, CWM and Android ROM THEN check for bad blocks before booting the new Android Rom??

Flashing 6.5 worked! Android is back
Out of interest how does that correct it!?
It could have been either a faulty cwm flash, corrupted boot partition, or bad blocks. I'm guessing corrupted boot. if it was blocks, widnows wouldn't have flashed right.

hi
i installed many rom on hd2 via clk cwm .zip from sd card many rom stuck on start up but some starts but after restarting or powering off the the same problem with all roms plz help to boost ur thanks meter
Make sure you perform "wipe data factory reset" in cwm, to ensure the files on the ext and android folder on fat32 are cleared before flashing the rom.
If possible try a different SD card and sim, they can both cause issues occasionally.
Any stability issues on winmo?
Just give us more info about that ..

thats a fine fix, however if you flash a smaller rom to that, you will waste the extra space. so flash a 250 meg rom to a 400 meg partition, you will lose 150 meg, it wont be used for apps or data, the system will just ignore it.

Hello guys,
I am experiencing the same problem with my HD2.
I have Tasked29, flashe MGLDR, CWR, formatted and partitioned SD, then placed ROM file and flashed. I reboot and the phone gets stuck on the HTC screen. The flashing of the ROM takes very little time. Before I had this problem, flashing a ROM would take longer than what it does now. It completes in about 10 seconds or less!
I can't figure out what's wrong. I had to re-install an old ENRGY Windows ROM; better than nothing! This ROM is working fine, even without the SD card.
I had been flashing CWR 4.0. I will flash 3.0.2.5 and see what happens.
Any one has any ideas please?

Follow this tutorial by kylew1212 to install cLK 1.5 . (don't forget to thank him)
After it installs, boot while holding the back button > Settings > Repartition NAND > *After you finish selecting your sizes* choose "COMMIT" .
Phone will reboot, then go to "Recovery" and flash your rom from there.
Hey guys, I need some quick suggestions if anyone has it. Currently I have a non working phone.
I have been running an ICS NAND rom on my hd2 for a while now, havnt had any issues (a few niggles with the rom, nothing major) so I thought today I would update to the latest version.
I used the hd2toolkit to resize the partition to the biggest size it would allow, then used ad recovery to flash the new .zip to the nand. This is where my problems started, whenever i booted it just showed the boot animation, (I waited over an hour and pulled the battery out and re booted / reflashed a few times).
I found with a differnet rom i tried, pulling out the SD car would allow it to get to the welcome screen, but no screen input was accepted. I thought this was a bit weird but pushed on. I tried a different rom and it stated after flashing that it was optimising applications and looked like it was stuck in a boot loop. I did some reading up about it and found that task29 should help. I ran this but then all the phone would do is show the green HTC on the white background, it wouldnt let me to get into magdlr menu.
I then decided to to a full restore and go back to the wm rom from th HTC site (The australia telstra version), this seemed to flash on fine, but now I can not slide or click buttons in wm, no screen input is accepted. Which is strange as it was doing this in an android rom, as I mentioned previously.
Any ideas on how I can get touch working / get a NAND android rom to work again.
Thanks in advance guys
First verify that you have hspl installed by powering on while holding vol down button to get to bootloader screen
Go back to the hd2 nand toolkit
1.task29
2. Select either cLK repartition or Magldr repartition and select size for your rom (not the maximum size). 200 mb is fine for ics using sdext partition.
3.Select magldr update recovery or cLK install recovery depending on your selection above.
4. Reboot phone by pressing power and holding to get to magldr or power and home button to get to cwm recovery.
5. Install ICS from sd card as before
Thanks for the help, I had to flash a different radio version to get magdlr to boot.
I now have android running of my NAND, but the screen is non-responsive now, as it was yesterday.
I doubt it is hardware related, because I have never had an issue before yesterday when I wanted to change the android version, any ideas how I could get it working?
Make a backup and then repartition again using HD2 toolkit. Maybe you got a bad download or something. Seems simple but it does happen. To me if I didn't know you choose the biggest it would sound like the partition wasn't big enough. Maybe try a cyanogen ROM since it reguires very little partition size and report back if successful.

Tell me what the steps you take to install a new ROM. Do you have MAGLDR or clk? Have you task29 yet? Are you sure your using the right partition? Are you using nand or sd Android?
If all else fails maybe check out this thread to reinstall
MAGLDR and then cwm. I've had problems in the past installing HyperDroid without
wiping my SD card first. Maybe check out this nand ROM instead or Coredroid found in my signature.

When installing a new rom, I have resized the magdlr partition, then copied the .zip to the sd card, then in ad recovery installed the zip through there. This has worked fine in the past. I followed the videos you have linked and I'm pretty sure I'm doing everything right and yes ive used task29 several times. In AD Recovery every time it states that installation has been successful. I have also formatted my SD card many times.
The ROM you linked, I can find download links on the page, not sure if I'm just missing them.
I just tried an SD card rom, its doing the same thing, no touch input is accepted.
Does NAND roms and SD roms not working imply that it could well be hardware? I just dont understand as it stopped working when I was reflashing yesterday and it was not dropped or roughly handled in anyway during this process.
I am now going to investigate MTTY (for bad blocks) and try reflashing back to original WM again. Please post more suggestions if anyone has them.
Another update: I just restored to default using the method listed below.

It took around 40-ish minutes and still no input from the screen, this is seriously frustrating.
WM boots fine and everything, but still no input is accepted.
I'm sorry to say but if your having the same problem with all that then it sounds like the digitizer stopped working. Maybe someone else knows something I don't so I would wait to see if they could help out.

Thanks mate, I am not sure why it would have just stopped last night. Appreciate all the help! I'll see if anyone else has any suggestions.
It's not a problem. I do have to admit that it does seem pretty odd the timing of it. Hopefully it's a not the digitizer and someone would be able to point out what might be the cause of everything.

This may seem a little crazy, but after having a search online about my issue, it seems that a ribbon going to the screen / digitizer is behind the power button on the HD2s, which apparently can get loose and after a sharp press of the button it started accepting screen input again!
The issue for me now is that when the power button it will stop accepting input again, untill I press it firmly again. I think I may need to open up the phone and check all the connections now.
