Something weird just happened, I bought one of those usb chargers from deal extreme. I plug it in and NS says charging, but when I try to use the touchscreen the touch is all off and wonky. So I unplug the cable and all is back to normal. Then I use the stock/oem charger and touch works just fine with that one. Anyone else have this problem? Did I do any permanent damage?
I'll post up a link to the charger.
Here's the link:

It's a known problem. Not with the phone or android, but something with the charger. Try searching if you want an explanation why. It's been discussed in many topics in different forums.

So my main complaint about the nexus 1 was the crazy digitizer. I am sitting here playing pocket legends and all of a sudden my screen starts going crazy just like on the nexus 1. I ran screen test toolkit and on the trace test i got sharp vertical lines that shot out from where my finger was tracing. I did have the phone plugged in at the time and since unplugging it seems to have gone away but the is reason enough to concern. Anyone else had this issue? May just take my phone back and get a replacement just in case.
Update: as much as I feel like a bonehead for admitting this I found the culprit. Apparently the charger i was using is not playing nice with the nexus s. It is the same charger i use for my nexus 1 an apparently it has a different power output that the nexus s doesn't like very much. Hope my mistake will help others.
I tried charging over USB at a friend's house on his dinosaur iMac, the screen started acting completely screwy as well.
this is really an intresting behavior. i didnt know a scren could do such a thing in different charger.. . live and learn
yea, why does this do this? I wonder can it be fixed with software
Why would you even try to charge it with something else since a wall charger came with it.
Because you can charge an Android phone via USB cable?
That's I think an official feature of Android.
And it MUST WORK WELL!
If not, then it is a bug in the software or hardware
I read a lot about this reports, anyone post into Google official forum?

i think you need to check other phones. as far as i know charging from usb less amp than the wall. so it shouldnt show any weird calibration issues or flicker. double check man

Yes, max amp from USB is 0.5A. Typical output for smartphone chargers is 1A. But this shouldnt be a problem, and also less amp means longer batterylife on the long run cause it doesnt stresses battery as much.

I think it's because the touchscreen on the NS seems to be more sensitive than most phones (I can get it to register input without even touching the screen sometimes) that it gets disrupted by other sources of electrical conductivity... such as the charger. Mine is ok, never really tried with the charger plugged in though. I ran multitouch visible test and I was satisfied with the tracking, it's the same if not better than the Vibrant's, which can handle 5 simultaneous inputs.
I've been looking for a spare wall charger for my Transformer. The main one I have is dodgy at best and I need to send it back for replacement but a spare one is always handy anyway. According to the spec this one is compatible. Just wondering if anyone else has tried one like this?

Thanks!
I see it's 5V/1A... Don;t think that's enough for (proper/fast) charging of the TF101...
nope it will only trickle charge it same as putting it in a USB port and take days to charge if at all. You need 15 volts to charge it properly.

Search for large thread by Devcake. He and others have explored this topic in depth and all the answers are there.
Woke up this morning and the phone would not turn on nor charge. Plugging in the charger results in no animation :/
Anyone know of a work around?

Perhaps, it's in a "deep sleep". Did you try pulling out the battery and putting it back in?
I did. tried to get into recovery tried download mode. nothing.
I had something similar happened to me, though I'm not sure if its the same problem. I think mine was a loose connection somewhere, so tried taking the phone completely apart and putting it back together. Worked for me, if you're willing to give it a shot, here's a video for the i9000 (and I think the vibrant in the latter half of the video).
As I am a new member, I can't post links, but if you go to Youtube and search "Samsung i9000 Disassembly.mp4", it'll show up.
I recently had a similar problem with my charger not working at all. I was almost convinced the USB port on the phone was bad so i bought a new cable online for a few bucks and of course it didnt work. The fix for me believe it or not was a new charger from the T-Mobile store, for some reason it works fine with their cable but not with my off brand cables(which work on other phones). You could give it a try, T-Mobile cables run around $15.

you guys are useless sometimes but here's a hint so you never have my problem. don't use usb extension cable to charge your phone. just use the one that came with it. pull that chair hecka close to the wall. random usb cables can screw up your hardware

Maybe no one before you got this problem, so no one could help you with it?
Comments like these are downright rude and definitely won't get you any help when needed.

On a related note, I am using a USB extension cable with another USB cable, my phone is fine. Anyways as was stated don't be rude, you posted a question that maybe 0.1% of people with a G2 have had.

yeah whatever guys don't be so sensitive. i'm definitely not a noob. i know when i've been looked off.
i'm not saying they cause the problem i'm saying they can.
anyway, someone can close this thread.
I had a strange charging problem develop last week. My phone will charge to 94-95% and will not charge further when using the OEM charger that came with the phone. The phone also displays the "slow charging, use original charger" notification.
I had this issue once last week and again last night. Every other time, the phone has charged normally. I searched through this and the other GS5 forums and did not see anyone else experiencing this exact issue.
Would this problem be indicative of charger port damage or a potential software issue? I'm running the newest firmware (NI2) rooted, with Xposed and Wanam. I appreciate any help.
Could be charger port/cable damage. Have you tried a different cable?

I was using a friend's GS5 OEM charger the first time and was using my charger when it happened again last night. He has not experienced the same issue I have. It's been difficult to troubleshoot due to the infrequency of the issue occurring.

See if you can swap batteries with your friend for a little while to see if that's possibly the problem. I've seen a few with battery issues.
Personally, I havent had this experience happen, or heard of anybody else haveing this problem. I dont think it is a software issue. Since you said that it has happened with two different cables, and your friend hasnt experienced it im thinking it might be the charging port on your phone.
Thank you, all. I'm going to try a new battery and hope I don't have a charging port issue.

If it is the charging port you can pick one up on ebay for about $15.00 shipped. I'm not sure how difficult it is to replace but on the note 3 it was fairly easy.
