Does anyone have a confirmed cyanogen 7 nightly that works with the game pocket empires?? I've tried a few but everytime I get "game data corrupted" but the game works fine on 6.1.

I was one an older nightly and it was working fine and i had upgrade nightly to nightly without wipes until like 27 and it was still working, i think the wipe and reflash killed it ;(
we can see the error going on but i have no idea how to fix it, anyone have any ideas?
I dunno how to fix it, I love CM7 and how it looks and everything, its awesome, just wish I could play pocket empires with it.

So I did find one solution....or half a solution, so this may help narrow down what the problem is.
If you are on 6.1, and update to 7.0 but do not include the google apps, and do not wipe date, you get into gingerbread, and pocket empires works fine.
Ive tested several different ways, ive done this and then tried to go back into rom manager and apply the google apps, but that didnt work, ive also tried an older version of google apps from CM 6 but that did not work either.
So that is what i found out via trial and error, maybe someone could explain MAYBE what is going on.
So after a little more research i did get everything working. Still dont understand the reason why though. Maybe someone with a little more insight can explain it.
So Start on 6.1, and you can go ahead and get rom manager up to 3.0, then click update and CM 7.0 pops up, download it and the google apps, and install. DO NOT WIPE DATA. It will go through the install process and gingerbread loads up, market works, google account sync works and POCKET EMPIRES works!!!!
Still dont understand why this happened though.
So enjoy everyone.
PS-I run am a commander and run a alliance on the honor server for dragons, alliance name is Chuck Norris, join if your new to the game or if you need a place to call home.

I already knew if I went from 6.1 to CM7 it works as I did that a few times... I'm trying to find the issue I dont know if its missing a file it's looking for or something, if you have time can you run logcat then launch the app login to your server then close the game and copy/paste the log here so I can see it? I don't want to wipe then flash back to 6.1 as I finally got it all setup again and dont wanna have to do this again

Hi,
So I have been using my android for 6 month now and its all good. I have JF1.5 and offcourse its a rooted phone. I was travelling last week and so the phone was on roaming, I got back and turned data networks on and its all good. Except I noticed today that my phone has been constantly transfering data and it actually downloaded 500MB in only 3 days. My battery is being drained so fast, im not able to keep up with the recharge. So I had to actually delete the APN so that the phone no longer has data connectivity.
I looked up at the task manager and I couldnt find anything out of the ordinary. I closed everything up to only the android keyboard and the netcounter. Still I could see it downloading at full speed. So if anyone has any suggestion as to WHAT is it trying to download and Why ?? Please let me know.
Thanks abunch for any help !!
Update to JF 1.51.
I'm having the same issue, and I'm on JF1.51. The weird thing is, I did a manual flash and the version in About still shows as 1.5. Should 1.51 show up in there somewhere?
I've been without data for the past two days but I haven't had to charge my battery yet!
Do either of you have the SDK installed? If so, can you do us a favor and post your logcat?

If you flashed JF1.51 correctly your build number should contain "CRB43". JF version numbering is not 1:1 with Android version numbering.
in that case, I have JF1.51 installed...
OK, so I had 1.50. I updated to 1.51 now , I will keep monitoring this for the rest of the day and if it starts downloading like mad again, I will let you guys know. I really REALLYYY hope this will fix it.
I think I have SDK installed in my desktop computer, if thats what you were asking for, please provide instructions to extract a log and send it to you.
Thanks for the reply.... The reason I ask is two-sided.
Sometimes apps can be malicious and I want to make sure that it's not something that could be adversely affecting you and secondly... if by chance there was another update that hasn't gotten leaked ... you might be holding the key.
Now mind you this will only work if you are having more issues...
Connect your phone to your computer and open a command prompt. Type in ADB logcat and hit enter. Right click and hit enter. This will copy the contents to your clipboard. Paste them (CTRL+V) here.
If you need further help, feel free to IM me at ChicagoTransAm
Thanks alot for your help.......
So the bad news is that the problem is still their, the good news is I got the log. I attached it to this post, because it wouldnt fit as a code since it has lots of characters.
So the code attached was generated in about 1min. during which the phone downloaded around 2.5Mb. I changed the APN settings to the correct one (so that phone could connect) and then it immediatly started downloading. after about 1 min. or less actually I changed the APN name so that it stops working. You will notice that in the log file where the correct APN is etisalat.ae

It's not an update, it's something else. My guess would be Market is trying to download something. You can stop it by adding android.clients.google.com to the hosts file, but then you'd lose all market access.
right but wut could it possibly be downloading ? and why not everyone ?? this is wierd !
Guys......any thoughts ?? PLEASEEE !!
Maybe the GTalk app. Try playing with it... i dunno.
First of all, a BIG thank you to everyone on the Dream forum, including tee aiy emm, JAguirre1231, and Followinginsanity, amongst others for posting enough information for me to get this little guy together, along with the guy that made the original version of these batch files. Attached is a file to install Google Navigation on the HTC Sapphire! Just run Part 1, let it reboot, then run Part 2 and let it do it's thing. If it doesn't work, uninstall Google Voice and reinstall it. It worked without me having to do that, however.
WARNING! I'm NOT a programmer, and I'm not even particularly good at Linux or scripting, so you do this AT YOUR OWN RISK! This isn't something I made from scratch - this is just a few different posts worth of information hacked together.

Looking at the batch files, it looks like this doesn't push back the original prop files. Do all your applications work with the modified versions?
Any idea if this will be an issue with future ROM upgrades?
All of my applications work with no hiccups, wifi works, 3G works, everything I've tested works with no problems. Of course, we could run into some of the same problems that the Dream forum users are running into.
One minor error - you are missing the ADB command in front of reboot in the first batch file.
I'll take this for a spin and see how it works, thanks!
This worked for my on my mt3g running cm 4.2.3.1. I did have to uninstall and reinstall google voice to get the navigation option to show up.

running a myhero rom with 2.6.29-myhero kernel version
For anyone else having problems, here's an Undo batch file. Just run it in the same directory as the install and it will reverse the prop file changes and reboot your phone. I haven't tried it on a phone with a Hero ROM - you might try the original version of this batch file located on the Dream's forum.
This might help you guys with Hero ROMs out:

Looking at the build.prop, it definitely seems to be for a cyanogen rom only.
I'm at work right now, so I don't really have the time to go through and pull out all of the necessary stuff to make it work. I will take a crack at it later from home tho.

I get the same thing, I'm running latest CM, i'm on a 32a magic.
I've tried both manually and with the script, same error message.
I pieced together a build.prop for myhero and uninstalled/reinstalled the Maps.apk. It force quits as soon as it comes up. Here's the error from the log file:

Looks like a java runtime problem. But I'm no programmer, so I don't know where to go from here.
am also running the latest CM and have a 32a board.
Tried to do the 'uninstall google voice' thing first but couldnt find it in the manage applications list... is it a hidden system app that needs to be removed with adb or something?
Also: Is there any chance someone could dump their sapphire build.prop files? Accidentally overwrote mine when I was trying the G1 navigation hack last night...
Hmm... we'll have to get one of the guys that knows what they are doing to fix this thing on the 32A's from the Dream forum. I'm no programmer either
hmmmm
will this work on 32b and can sumone help me to install it
Do all you guys live in the US, or does this work in other areas aswell? I'm from Sweden, and it seems like the navigation is not available here yet.
I doubt we will ever get to see the Droid (It's called Milestone in Europe) here either.
Thanks!
I'm running dwang's 1.11 rom on a 32B Magic, just installed this by running your batch scripts, it all ran through without any errors.
I have the new version of Maps but I don't have navigation, I suppose it is because I am outside of the USA ... still good to have the updated maps though!
Shouldn't this be in Sapphire apps/games forum? I see at least two threads in there for Google Nav.
Anyone previously running Cyanogen 4.2.3 upgraded to 4.2.4 with Nav? Anything to worry about?
Edit: I found the nav works beautifully, but I can't make any calls out from Google Voice. I've tried reinstalling and uninstalling, rebooting and reinstalling GV. No luck. It also doesn't download my inbox, or have the correct balance on my account. I guess I'll try repushing the old props back and hope Nav sticks around.

I had the same problem. I'm pretty sure you need some framework stuff in at least 1.6 donut. MyHero is still 1.5 Cupcake.
Ok guys i've managed to successfully install the LiveWallpapers.apk from the NeXus dump and also the MagicSmokeWallpaper.apk on the G1 on android 2.1. problem is that I can't get the LiveWallpaperPicker.apk to install in order to use live wallpapers. reason being is because it isn't being deodexed properly.. I used the deo-all tool and it de-dexes the .apk but i see that it throws an error during the process and i can't find out what it is since the terminal quits to quickly for me to do so. i sign the .apk and install, but throws the error "dexopt". so my theory is its not properly being de-dexed.. once I get this solved i'll also have the new launcher2.apk, gallery3d.apk, and visualization wallpapers.apk able to be installed.
any help??
bump this get this poppin
I liked to see those apps working as well...
Major progress, so thanks to a cpl devs who helped out (miketaylor, djengizz) i've been able to install the livepaperpicker.apk and the prompt to use live wallpaper shows up now.
but it fc's. reason being is because for some odd reason when it gets deodexed the mainclass in the classes.dex gets deleted and so the activity can't be read and it isn't initialized by dalvik. all we would need is to be re-compile the classes.dex back with the mainclass and in theory it should work.. but that's where the problem lays. smali isn't being so nice and throws bunch of errors.

From what i've seen they allow the wallpapers to be animated, so for example, you can have a wallpaper that has different weather effects, or a pic of the ocean moving etc.
I cant wait until this is working on the Manup 1.0.1 rom.
good luck guys, this would be amazing.
update: there's just 1 issue holding this back from happenning afaik, once we get this worked out it should be a go.

Hope you can tune the app soon!
Maybe something is wrong with the app that you been trying to deodex. Have you tryed downloading another nexus dump from a different source and deodexing those apps? Just a suggestion in case you didnt think about it just trying to help!
i am trying to install this on my droid with 2.1.
You need to move over some of the libraries from 2.1 or else it will not work.

ok like what libs??.. my main issue right now is when de-odexing the apk, it leaves out the mainclass activity, so it cannot be initialized by dalvik and throws a fc. I've got it installed however and attempts to intialize when prompted

this is one of the coolest features of 2.1 to be honest...the eye candy factor is amazing. Seems like progress is being made though...you think it will be done soon? want it on my mt3g soon =D
guys, I have everything I need to get this working, it's just I still have the 1 problem that is totally hindering this. i'ved asked for help to somebody but they haven't responded back, although it's not something that me and djengizz haven't tried already. at this point, only hope we have is getting an un-odexed dump, OR jf updating the smali tools that are throwing the errors that we get. believe me, if u guys can't cait to have this, imagine how i feel having everything set and ready to go with only 1 thing holding it back, especially since I was basically the first 1 to start up on this mod before anyone else.
Sucks I cant do anything to help...im just sitting down while you do all the work so I can watch my wallpaper move
sounds like your really trying hope you get this out soon...you'll be my hero for sure.
basically, the main problem is in smali... I have all the smali files and try re-assembling but smali just throws loads of erros and doesn't make the classes.dex we need to get this up and running.

Which version of Eclipse and ADT are you using? The latest SDK update that was just released has problems with Eclipse 3.6. The updated ADT (0.9.8) is reported by Google as only working on 3.5, not 3.6.
Hmmmmm- that's a good question. I did update ADT in the midst of this whole debacle but I can't remember if it was before or after I started having problems. It's weird that it would work with some projects and not others though. I will see if I can downgrade to the old version and see if that fixes it. Thank you!!
I'm getting the same thing on my captivate.
I can install the apk to a magic running 2.2, a Droid X running 2.1, and multiple emulators, but not the samsung.
I can install other projects, just not this specific one. I'm not sure where to look to see what makes it different though.
Any ideas?
I don't have these problems on my vibrant - I can hit run in eclipse and the apk gets transferred and loads automatically. I have no clue what could be causing the issue you guys are seeing. Could something have changed in later revisions of the device?
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
I had Eugene's hybrid rom installed a while back and the eclipse console would report a successful install of my program; however, it would not only fail to launch but also be nowhere to be seen on my phone. There would literally be no trace of the program on my phone despite the supposedly successful install.
I went back to stock via Odin and the problem disappeared. I don't know whether the rom was the culprit and am too tired laying in bed right now to do an empirical study to find out :O

In my case it turned out that I had two activities with this attribute:
android:label="@string/app_name"
apparently the eclipse plugin doesn't like to push an app with two app labels.
I am having this problem on my Vibrant as well. I think a prior installation of the application failed...
If I recreate the project with a different package namespace and transfer the files from the old project over then I am able to upload the application via eclipse again.
I'm not sure how to clean out the prior install. I too am running an unrooted phone...
Not sure if it is related, but since this started happening, my phone has been dying overnight and won't boot up unless I remove the battery AND sim card. Thankfully I have a good internal clock. I've been using my phone as an alarm clock so this has been quite inconvenient.
Ran into this Pandora app that has a transparent widget. I installed it and placed the transparent widget in my homescreen. When I tried to run it though, I got the ff. error:
Unexpected JSON error occurred: Value <body><html><a of type java.lang.String cannot be converted to JSONObject while StartupAsyncTask

So I thought, oh maybe because it's a modded Pandora app. I'll try the original from the Market. I did. Got the same error.
Next I thought, maybe it detected that I'm not from the US (I'm from the Philippines). I followed the instructions shown here, which worked for me before. But now, I still got the same error.
Any ideas, guys???

Search the forums and you'll find the Nook Color specific Pandora apk. If you don't find it, shoot me a PM and I can pull it from mine tomorrow and upload it for you.
JSONObject Error Pandora
Just installed Pandora on new Samsung Galaxy S 2 Android phone and get the following error when trying to start it, "Unexpected JSON error occurred:Vaule <html> of type java.lang.String cannot be converted to JSONObject while StartupAsyncTask"
I have uninstalled it and moved it from phone to SD card, cleared data and same error occurs.
Any ideas
did you intend to post in this forum. It is for a different device.. just trying to help you get an answer..
