Hi to all
I have this problem with the tab running JK5 concerning the email application
I had set up various pop3 email accounts, I recieve the emails ok in the inbox, but when I recieve those emails from my main PC and deleted from the ISP's server, when the tab, checks for new email those emails that were in the inbox automatically are deleted...
This is not happening in 4 pc I have and in my iphone, they stay in the inbox, and if I want I delete them.
I have not found any solution, is there a firmware solution or something else?
I want to keep some importand emails and I don't know how
I dont want importand emails to stay in ISP's server for ever.
Thanks in advance

I have set up a new pop3 account with my home isp blueyonder. they had some problems the other day with sending email through there smtp server. Now my outbox (in folder view) shows 1 unread message; but if I go to look in the folder it is empty. I do not have "show only last 3 days" checked. if I connect to the account via webmail all looks fine. it appears that something is stuck on my vario 2. other than deleting the account is there any way of sorting this small annoying problem?
This happens when I send/receive via my gmail account on my phone. I'm currently investigating... I've also had an issue where Pocket Outlook doesn't correctly authenticate with the SMTP server (on my own personal address) before trying to send emails, resulting in 550 no unauthorised relaying allowed. Also investigating this, as my POutlook is setup correctly.
Just thought I'd let you know you're not the only one experiencing this issue.
Hi, sorry I can't be of some help to you on your issue, but this pocket outlook is so crap, on my accounts I have it set to automatically connect and check for mail...well if there is mail in my gmail inbox..read or unread..and it connects and checks for mail..it clears out my inbox, it will say I have messages and list the sender and subject in the notification, but the inbox will be empty, then theres the imap issue of not putting sent messages in the sent folder, very aggrivating to not have a decent mail client, I tried Flexmail..it lists gmail as an auto configure...but that's just bs...cause all that does is list the "@gmail.com" not any ports or ssl settings...so I manually configured it..then it spazzes on the password screen and won't continue, not to mention I set it as default one time I installed and it totally jacked up pocket outlook..which led to hard reset number 1.
Sorry to rant off topic, but after reading others woes about pocket outlook, I couldn't stfu
nice (sorry) to see others having problems too! from your replies I am doing well. I also noticed the IMAP problem too, when connecting to ny bluyonder account the webmails deleted items were "trash" and would not be deleted

If it's the disappearing Google Mail emailsyou're talking about then the solution is to set it to retrieve headers and set it to 999KB

Thanks for the info, I'll give that a shot..I had had it set to receive full copy of messages.
And sorry again about your post timbouk.
I am using HTC Touch Dimaond2.
I have configured all my email accounts(Yahoo,Gmail and Hotmail) in my HTC Touch Diamond2.
Whenever, I am clicking the Send/Receive option, it's getting downloaded to my inbox.
But in my actual yahoo inbox I have more mails and in the HTC touch Diamond2 I am NOT having all the mails.
I have created many sub folders and many mails are inside that folders in my actual yahoo account, but in my handset the folders are there, but no mails inside the folders.
For my Gmail account, it's not all sync up my account and it's showing connecting...log in... and disconnected.. but no mails are downloded to my handset. And inbox is showing 0 items, whereas my actual gmail account has hundreds of mails
Hotmail account it's working but I don't have any folders in hotmail and need to check on this.
Please help on how to download all the mails to my mobile. Any settings need to be done for it..?

Check your e-mail settings and make sure it is set to download ALL past messages and remove any size limitations.
Also, watch the default yahoo settings as the outgoing server puts SMTP.mobile.yahoo.com and you must remove .moblie to send correctly (at least in my experience)
Lastly, I would suggest setting up gmail as an exchange server using m.google.com as server address, no domain. Then if you are able, you can forward all mail accounts to gmail, which has a better SPAM filter and then you only need one account.
Hope this helps.

Don't you need to have some type of setting, either on your device or with hotmail, to have the handset make changes to your actual email box?
I remember with a blackberry you could set up your account to listen strictly to your phone and what you tell it to delete versus the server. Try checking your hotmail settings to see if you're simply getting a copy on your device of an email or actually accessing and changing your email messages.
Hi,
I've recently synchronised my email accounts to my HTC but I notice that when I delete emails from my hotmail account they are still there when I log into Hotmail on my computer. They seem to delete locally only.
How would I go about setting it up so that the emails are deleted from the server wwhen I click 'delete'
many thanks to anyone who knows the answer to this one
I use ICS CM9 email (not gmail). Have not found a setting to increase how many emails should be kept in the program. So if I check my emails and have 30 new all the old ones will disappear. There has to be a setting for this? Why can't I have a few hundred emails there?
Would all so like to know this answer please.
Check sync options. And change days to sync from automatic to however long you want messages to show.

There is no "sync options". There is General settings and the email account settings. In email account settings, there is "incoming settings" but no setting for days (for IMAP. it might be if you're using exchange).
My conclusion is that this is not possible to increase from 25 emails for IMAP or POP. Which makes me wonder, how do everybody get by this? Reload older messages all the time? or everybody use K-9?
Android mail programs don't keep email messages.
You should set your mail account for keeping mails
on the server for xx-days before deleting them.
If you open your mailbox on your pc, it will by default
wipe your mails from your server, nd the next time you sync
/check with your phone all older messages wil be deleted

You misunderstand!
Android email program DOES keep email messages stored locally. The ICS Email app keeps 25 emails. When you get new emails it deletes the older ones locally. you can reload them from the server if you have the patience to wait and if you are online.
Is it really only me and REVHE4D in the whole world that are annoyed by this issue?
If I remember correctly, the Samsung email app does have settings for how many emails to store locally.
I have the same issue.. The Samsung ICS email client doesn't work that well for me, it doesn't delete emails properly.
The stock ICS Email app seems to have like no settings. Why don't they just let us use the GApps Gmail client for our own private imap/pop3 servers as well? The interface is slick, its integrated into the widgets/homescreen... It's so stupid that we're unable to add our own personal accounts to it.
No Nick5000, you are not the only one annoyed by this. I am too, especially because I clearly remember that on my old Galaxy S2 when I was running gingerbread, it kept all my emails up to 500. I don't know why they changed it down to 25.
