Hi all,
Could someone check to see if their Friends stream is working, mine stopped working a few days ago so I tried logging out of my Facebook account and back in again and I just keep getting an error saying that the service is unavailable.
The Android Facebok app works fine.
my friendstream and htc peep/facebook are all working fine

Damn, I wonder what's wrong with mine then.
I did a search and found someone saying that by clearing the "cache" that worked for them, I know how to clear Internet cache etc. however is there any other cache on an Android phone that I'm not aware of.

i had the same issue a couple days ago. i only found one solution to it on my nexus, and its odd. apparently when you go into settings, applications, application settings, you dont have access to the maps cache like on the g1. so i found another way. only through an app called quick system info was i able to access the application info. there i pressed an uninstall update button, then came back and cleared data. since then its been working fine. i still dont get what update i uninstalled because its the same exact maps i had before.
wow thanks hah that worked

Ok so I searched the forum with no luck on this. I Just want to know how to stop it. Is it lwp picker?
It has something to do with GPS. If you turn off all GPS settings, you should not get the FC anymore.
I don't have GPS turned on at all and I still get the force close

lol bump.
i turned it off and have not run back into it.
i think it might have something to do with all the Weather and HTC apps/widgets i had deleted at the time.

How many people saw "bgp" and thought "why in the heck is a phone running border gateway routing protocol?".
I am facing the same problem and found this on the web:
After I received the update to Android 2.1, my Google calendar was not syncing with my phone anymore, and I kept receiving the "force close" message for com.htc.bgp and com.htc.calendar.
I went to Settings >> Applications >> Manage applications and selected "Clear cache" and "Clear data" for (where applicable):
- Calendar
- Calendar Storage
- Gmail
- Gmail Storage
Now my calendar seems to be working fine and syncing properly with Google!
Hope this helps someone out there...

Terrific information.

LOL.. the thought had crossed my mind..
still get f/c
I did the clear cache thing... Except the clear cache button was greyed out on everything that had to do with mail/sync etc, so I can't clear cache (guess it's because CacheCleaner already did that for me.)
I still get f/c on com.htc.bgp.
A lot of people mention facebook. I don't use that, but now i tried getting android facebook from market, logging in with that, then logging in on web, deleting everything on facebook that had to do with android/htc. Then my phone said it couldn't connect to facebook (which it shouldn't even try to)
I then deleted the facebook app again. (by the way, in sync settings i don't have a facebook option, with or without facebook app installed)
Still have f/c on com.htc.bgp.
I tried looking in logcat everytime the f/c came up. What I often see in logcat is:
1. Bluetoothservice.. Seems it's trying to connect to something (i never used bluetooth and never paired a unit and bluetooth is off on the phone)
2. Something with a keypad [system/user/keychars/bravo-keypad.kcm.bin] (i don't have htc keyboard installed in my ROM, if that matters)
3. Wifi tether (which i have tried before, but is off when the log mentions it)
I have a Desire running Modaco r6, brewed in kitchen with no sense and most htc stuff, and no facebook or twitter. I have tried other ROMs. I always get the f/c on ROMs with no Sense... And i sometimes get the f/c on ROMs with Sense.
Hope anyone has found out excactly what com.htc.bgp is, and even better, can help me not to get the f/c anymore.

I get this error after deleting the following from /system/apps/
com.htc.WeatherWidget.apk
com.htc.WeatherWidget.odex
Weather.apk
Weather.odex
WeatherAgentService.apk
WeatherAgentService.odex
WeatherProvider.apk
WeatherProvider.odex
Restoring them stop the com.htc.bgp force close erros.
I was getting this error too. I am runnig Ava-Froyo on an EVO. I hadn't removed anything other than what was already removed from the ROM. I started getting this error after installing Youlu Address Book. I removed Youlu, but was still getting the error message. I then removed all accounts (Facebook, Twitter, any additional email accounts) except the default Google one. I rebooted my phone, and now I no longer get the htc.bgp force close error.
Hope this helps.

I was thinking the same thing: "why does HTC need BGP routing on a smartphone?"
having this on htc aria
I wonder if B G P stands for background processing and this app/service does various things with many processes, pulls from a weather/calendar database, checking your location, checking for bluetooth <shrug>.
I got this after:
1. Changing the weather app db to add custom cities
2. Installing AdFree
3. started getting FCs in Desk clock.
Hmm I also tried doing the clearing data and cache thingy but still getting that force close error. I guess removing the weather apps are the culprit... someone mentioned clearing the daivlk cache but that didn't work for me either... so I'm sucked with that error, coz I really hate keeping apps that I have no use for...
As a complete newby I hope I am doing this correctly. My problem is that since updating to android 4.2.2 I have noticed that Gallery is not working. I have also rooted my Nexus 7 so is it possible that this is the problem. Any help would be much appreciated.

thats not a fix, its an alternative.
and he didnt ask for an alternative. he wants a solution to the problem.
OP, try a hard reset, this may help with the gallery npot opening
Does it show up under "All Apps"? I had a similar problem, and it was somehow disabled from there.. no idea why, but I just re enabled it.

You make it sound as if this is normal; it is not. Gallery works just fine.
Maybe the OP can specify the actual problem...

Yes it does show under all apps. Not quite sure what you mean by re enabled. If you mean touching it and placing it on the Home screen. I did that and it places it there but when I try to open it a window comes up saying "Unfortunately, Gallery has stopped". I have noticed that when I access the list of apps via "Settings" it is not listed, could this be the problem?

The problem is that when I try to open the Gallery it opens a message "Unfortunately Gallery has stopped". I have just noticed that I get the same message when I try to open the camera app.
Do you by any chance have Google+ installed ?
I've had a problem with my JellyBean Gallery on my HTC Evo 3D after i installed Google+, clearing Google+ and Gallery cache and data fixed the Gallery.

Did you clear cache and data of Google+ AND Gallery itself ?
If you did then try remembering if you installed any new app(s) recently and uninstall them.

I cleared cache and data of Google+., but and this may be the problem Gallery is not listed in the Apps list under settings.
I have just rooted my Nexus 7 so I may have to go back to the beginning. Thanks for help though.:crying:

When you go to the Apps in the Settings SWIPE TWICE to the left for section ALL and then scroll down to the Gallery.

Thanks very much. That worked, which allowed me to clear the data and cache, but the same window appears even after completely shutting the device down and restarting. As I said earlier I think I will have to un-root the device and start again.

Perhaps you should look at logcat and see if it has anything of use in it. Perhaps you have a corrupt image, although I'd think the media scanner would just skip it.

I have a stock S5 that I just bought. After a couple days I started noticing an extremely long delay when doing anything with text messages. I hit send and it just sits there. I can't hit back or anything. The home button will take me home. When sending I don't even see my message until everything returns. Anyone have any idea what may be causing this? TIA

Thanks for the reply. I gave that a try with no luck. I cleared cache but afraid to clear data because it says it will permanently delete everything.

Clear data will clear all your messages and makes the app like its still new. Probably a corrupted message file or anything can affect its performance.

So it will delete my messages?
This seems to be a well known issue with the S5 although the suggestions don't seem to fix my problem. The solutions also say to clear cache and data on the Samsung keyboard.
Maybe power-saving mode? It kinda lags the mobile. Reduces performance of some stuff to lag to save some battery. Not sure tho

You can back up text messages, i would try that and clear data, see how it goes, if it does nothing then just restore the back up.

Power saving mode is off. I thought this was related to using the Samsung Smart Switch app to recover everything from my iPhone. So I deleted everything, cleared the cache and data from the message app and the Samsung keyboard app. No luck with that either. However, I did discover the AT&T app for messaging that came pre-loaded on the phone and remembered another article that suggested trying another default messaging app. So I did and that seems to work much better. I know it's not a fix, but at least it's a workaround I can live with. I actually like this app because I have text, call history, and my visual voicemail all in one app.
There are plenty of complaints around the internet about this "bug" so maybe it will be something that gets addressed in Lollipop next month.
Mine lags because of the amount of messages I have stored. Will try to clear cache, but I don't think it works
Well if you looking for a messaging app, google's messenger app is pretty good too!
Hello Guys,
I don't know how known the problem and solution is. But I was seeing a lot of s note stopped working errors, so I went in sync, Samsung account and then turned off sync for sync s note. And I haven't seen that error again yet, I do think I will see it again but not as often I used to see.
Try clearing the cache.

It's not a wide-spread problem. He's right--clearing your cache should fix it without disabling legitimate features.

Tried that (clearing cache for s note), then as soon as I enabled sync it gave error, I guess I have disabled some application it needs. I am using package disabler pro. Any idea?
