**need a good rom that save battery**!! - myTouch 3G, Magic General

right now i am using
cyanogenmode 6.1 -ds
2.2.1
kernel pershoot
and 3.22 radio
my device is 32a
and my battery drain abit faster than what i am use to.
i tryed 2 dif batterys and both are the same.
no task killer that frain the device..
and all working nice without any bugs
but battery going fast to 80 % cant use it even few hours.
wifi is close 3g off everything is off.
sometimes i turn it on but the % going down faster than what i am use to
do you guys know any good rom with good battery life?

any1? need good rom

well, ur a 32a. but does ur mytouch have a 3.5mm jack?

nope. why ?
does it metter?

some gingerbread based roms have been known to have good battery life might want to give a look into that

yes battery life on gingerbread is much better,
as long as you dont use your pcs USB port to recharge it (if you do -> reboot)

Try Ginger yoshi 1.0 RC4 ROM. My battery last much longer than Cyanogen. This ROM is much faster than Cyanogen 6.1 -ds.

Best battery life I ever had was on official 2.1 senseUI rom for 6.35 radio.

ummm im on a mytouch with 3.5mm jack. i also want a rom like what the op posted. any roms out there?

Try the MIUI build (any). If you like the nexus one builds you will definitely love the MIUI build. If you don't like the iphone looking style just install ADW or launcher pro from the market. You will also need to use an android friendly wm rom. Use vbn with excellers multiple build loader both are found in the android development section. When you use the build loader app chose auto boot 3 seconds, ( you will know what I'm talking about when you are in the app). Hope this helps
i tryed just about every rom, got atleast 24hrs with all of them. most were 48+ with conditioning... for me bat life was more an isue of shutdown voltage in the kernel than any thing else..

Strange some people say to switch to that from Desire or Desire HD builds because it has better battery life ?
I am running
MDJ Revolution 1.7 with MDJ 7.6HD Kernel
Radio 2.15.50.14
I find that the above radio is better on battery than my previous 2.12.50.xx
Also the Kernel is better too.
But it depends on how much you play with your phone I get 3 - 7ma drain on my current setup but of course when you start calling or playing games it will easily go up to 200ma.
I find the above rom very stable I can't find anything that doesn't work and its fast enough for me I don't notice any lag or freezing.
I was thinking of switching to your ROM to try but if the battery life is that bad then I may stick with this.
guyz lil but of an update here still on the same rom and i've manged to last 14 hours and i still have 72 % in the battery, with very little usage a couple of texts couple minutes of browsing and some music
im using setcpu greenpower and advanced task killer
ssetcpu is at the minimum
advanced task killer set to auto kill - crazy (means it kills apps as soon as screen goes off)
greenpower set to manage wifi and mobile data, turns off wifi and data when there is low traffic and turns it off as soo ans the screen goes off
its working for me so far so just wanted to post it up incase anybody else wanted to know

[Q] quick question

im thinking of switching to WP7. is it fully stable?
what works/what doesnt?
Not 100% Stable. But I will tell you, it is faster than Android without it being overclocked of such sort, and the battery performance is exceptionally well.
My phone hasn't been charged for about 13 hours. I've used it from medium/alot of usage today. I'm just waiting for it to die out since I'm training to battery these next 3 days so I can get the most out of it. The interface of wp7 looks very nice and simple to me. Some people like it some people don't. Their are a few problems with camera and the pinch to zoom on the internet explorer, but this will be patched up soon. So far I love it. Also, if you do flash wp7, I would suggest radio 2.14.
The 2.12 radio has better battery performance a tad bit, but it will always switch from edge/3g/hsdpa. 2.14 gives me a very stable connection with great battery performance, and 2.15 is a battery hog. I hope I covered enough for ya

Yes the major 2.14. I think their is only one of them.

[Q] Battery Life in MIUI roms compared to others :S

Over the Last couple of days I have been using the stock MIUI rom, it ran supurb and very fast and stable and with the gingerbread theme for MIUI it looked very nice. And battery life for me was incredable using it normally like I do and at the end of the day maybe be around 55-65% left.
I now have moved onto the CM7 rom as wanted more of a stock like phone and read it is very good but from full battery within an hour it is almost 30% BT is not on as know there is a common no sense rom issue.
Although this is easily fixed by just switching back I wandered if anyone knew any stock like roms with good battery performance? or should I just stick with miui?
Im using a Euro HD2, and think its the 2.15 radio
You are using HTC HD2?

You are using HTC HD2? If yes, it's normal. Almost all android roms draining batteries very quickly... And MIUI drains the battery additionally...
I do realise that the MIUI roms drain the battery lol only at a much slower rate all my question was, is there a stock rom that drains it at a similar rate so it lasts say a days use instead of an hour
Also why are the CM7 mods the worst offenders at the min ?

go to market, and download currentwidget. put the phone on standby (turn off BT and GPS) let it sit for a minute, go to currentwidget and see how many mA is showing. if it's 3-7mA on standby, then it's normal.
You should try get your hands on MDJ's Cyanogen Mod 2.6. I thought that had great battery for a CM7 ROM. You won't find it here on XDA as MDJ's work is banned but a little google should do the try.
It comes with the stock launcher but it's pretty easy to download your preferred launcher.

SE Stock Rom Advantage!

Hello All,
I noticed there are a lot of posts regarding Battery Usage & Optimization...
I tried many many combinations of custom roms, basebands and kernels and I always face the same battery problem especially when 3G/MobileData is switched on.
I admit that Sony Ericsson gave us a ****ty stock rom with poor kernel however It's still the best rom in managing battery usage.
I made a small comparison on Stock rom VS Custom roms with 3G/MobileData left switched-on and I found the following:
Custom rom(s): battery drain down very fast it goes for 100% to 1% in less than 8 hours (normal apps installed)
Stock rom: battery lasts for 2-3 days with normal daily phone usage (same apps installed as i did in custom rom)
Please share your opinions.
Thanks,
Ayman
I don't agree at all...
Custom roms can have just as good, if not better, battery life.
I personally think this was a good idea. Nice post and info. Just curious, how long did you do this study with the data you got?
Sent from my X10i using XDA Premium App
hey guys, i too have this issue, i dnt know if its device specific. ive had the phone since march(2010) last year and have been modifying it with the great mods that the devs hav given us. everytime i install a custom rom i just get unusual battery drain, like yesterday, i followed instructions to the letter and installed tripnravers miuifroyo 1.0.8 and i lost 10% battery in like 20 minutes n ive hardly used it :-(. so nowadays i stick wiv a modified stock 2.1(ewjet to b exact). im gna buy a new battery and see if i get the same results. i really wna use a custom(2.2+)rom but the battery problems are really putting me off, theres so many people out der that arent really having ny battery drain whcih jus dus my head

Thanks Voelker BTW this is my first Thread in XDA, I used to use SE 2.1 stock rom till the first stable Froyo custom rom came out. I switched to Froyo then I started to notice this around 4 months ago and I tried many combination and a lot of optimizations to find out the best one although Stock rom was always better.
@fiscidtox:
I love Foryo and GB much much more than Eclair I currently on CM6 v6 Wolfbreak
Could you please tell me how the battery lasts on your custom rom while MobileData is left switched-on?
Thanks,
Ayman
I get a full day..
If you mean stock with no tweaks then maybe it would last longer, but a lot of that would be not having jit enabled...

You must be doing something wrong!
10% in 20 mins isn't normal.
I'm sure if you left it settle this would rectify itself though.
I think the biggest advantage of the stock kernel so far is stability, but the ongoing development for the custom kernel is sucessful to implement some problems such as battery drain caused by unability to go into deep sleep etc..
I never understood needing more than 24 hours on a charge. Charge it while you're sleeping you wont be using it then anyway.
Even if you like the 2.1 Stock ROM for any reason (Stability,Battery, etc) and don't like all these awesome 2.2 and 2.3, you should at least use Eric's JET ROM which is based on the original ROM has no stability issues and has faaaaar better battery life.
But seriously, I`m using Custom ROMs since the first 2.2 ROM by Z and never even cared to get back to the stock ROM.
When I use Wifi custom roms have almost the same battery life as the stock rom. But since I can't connect to wifi at work on any custom rom, im forced to use 3g.. and I need to charge my phone twice a day with almost no usage.

im pretty sure im doin the steps right, but as u sed leaving it to settle shud help this, im gna buy a new battery nyways and try again. i think the wrong thing im doin is not letting it settle, rather i see the battery drain n i jus end up flashing bak to stock. but i shall give wot u sed a go. thanks

I have it set to switch to 2g when the screen is off (I need it on all the time for IM )
can't wait till gingerbread comes out. if the performance is like the arc then I will just stick with the stock rom.

Let it settle for at least two days to see improvement.
Your battery needs to adjust, much like letting your phone build a cache, in order to really see how the rom will effect anything.
Im using the stock rom and my battery lasts a maximum of 2 days with this tweaks: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=934486
I dont use 3g at all and i use wifi sometimes (session lasts only 10 mins or so)
Brightness is set to "middle" also
Sorry dont agree..
I use wolfbreaks latest rom with the undervolt module.
Juice defender only enables my wifi when i am at home...all other times i have data on with facebook sync.
I now get the same battery life as i did on stock 2.1
Currently I have been unplugged for 1day and 12 hours and I am still at 38%.

3g is useful incase of using Apps such as viber, whatsapp, IM and Gmail as it makes you online and reachable all of the day.

Best Kernel and ROM (2.2.x or 2.3.x) for G1 considering Battery Save

Hello,
I'v tried 3 ROM's (gingeryoshi 1.2, froyo by lazlo(last one)) and different kernels but on 2.2.x or 2.3.x my G1 get battery drain really fast..
Now I'm using COS-DS 2.3.4 and the battery drain is lower (when the mobile is on "stand by" drains really lower.. But when I get a call (2.. or 3 minutes..) or use Camera, Internet.. etc it consume battery really fast. (From the 3 ROM's above the one that giveme best baterry life on 2.x.x was COS-DS).
When I use my mobile on 1.x (1.5... 1.6) android ROM the baterry last's better than in those 2.x.x ROMs.
So here is my question.. I need sugestions of ROMs and Kernels for battery saving (I use the mobile a lot).
Thx a lot
I
Anyone can helpe me?
you're going to have to find a rom that you like and then flash a undervolted kernel over it. im using cm7 magpie with an undervolted kernel and battery is good but not great. most roms don't have amazing battery life since they are for speed. the g1 never had great battery life anyway. if you want good battery get an extende battery off ebay.
Thx a lot, do u sugest any kernel to froyo by lazlo with undervloting settings?
The kernel that I'm using with FBL 5.2 is the [email protected] #145. I've tried many with that ROM but this one seem to be working great and I've gotten the best battery life from it. With the radio off, I get over 6-7 hours before it drains a percent or two. With the radio on and I'm stationary with a decent signal, I get only 1 percent drain per 1 1/2 hour when the radio is in standby.
I flashed the kernel after I setup the phone and most of the apps I use. I also flashed this kernel on my wife's G1 with SuperBler v4 and it made a huge difference also. Give it a try. Good luck.
Will a Froyo rom be more conservative regarding battery life than a gingerbread one in the G1?
depends on the rom
