[SOLVED] Headphone -> Line In on Stereo? - Galaxy Tab General

I'm not sure if this has been answered (a brief search didn't turn anything up), but it's bugging me so I figured I'd ask.
I have a Galaxy S phone and when I plug it in to my stereo using a 3.5mm -> dual RCA it works great. When I do the same with my Galaxy Tab, I get a buzzing and no audio whatsoever, regardless of whether or not I push the plug all the way in, etc... My stereo headphones work great on both, so I'm puzzled as hell, but do know that the headphones which shipped with my phone will not work with my tab.
Weird. If someone could help me fix that, they'd be very cool in my books (I want the bigger display so I can glance at the radio app and see what's playing when I hear a good song).

Aaaaand to follow up: I'm dumb. My case was preventing the cable from plugging in all the way (by about 1/16"). So if anyone else has that problem, there's the solution!

Headphone Jack Stops working

Hey all, I know a lot of people have had problems with the jack doing goofy things, however my problem is a little different. I'm having an issue where i'll be listening to music just fine on my headphones, unplug them, a bit later plug them back in and it no longer plays though the headphones. It will play though the external speaker just fine, but when you plug it in, you head music for about 400ms then it goes silent. Upon rebooting the phone the audio will work again. Sounds almost like a software glitch but not sure how to fix it. The HTC support rep suggested a "hard reset" I really don't want to do that, but it may come to it for testing purposes.
Anyone else run into this problem? I would really like to fix it without wiping the phone.
No headphone problems here my friend. Good luck.
Just a heads up. The evo can sense a mic'd headset inserted or a standard 3.5mm headphone or aux cable. When it senses a standard cable it will run off the headphones and let you do commands or talk trough the built in mic. I had a "headphone" issue that many talk of with diffent things poping up or music not playing. All i had to do was push until I heard a locking click with the headset and with the standard headphones I have. Everything has worked great since then

Why cant I use speakers or tape deck adapter without my HD going nuts?

Hey odd question, lately when I plug in speakers or a tape deck adapter to my HD 2, it will close out whatever program switch to music, then it will cycle music like crazy. Kinda like if its getting a signal to switch tracks etc. Anyone know what could be causing this? Using Energy Rom.
Because the HD2 uses a headset with media controls, and most likely it is getting false signals from your speakers, also the headset jack is a microphone jack not just speakers, you cannot just plug stereo speakers into a jack that has contacts for , controls, mic , and sound ...
Thats odd when you say that tho.. cause I use use Nokia MD 4 (With the FM ant able in the cord) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...9&cm_re=nokia_speakers-_-75-975-079-_-Product
The HD2 works fine.. just anything else messes it up. So what is everyone using in the car and so?
I plug my FM transmitter into the headphone socket in the car,and use
2 different types of headphones,a generic in ear set and some
folding Sennheisers, neither give me any issues, they just work....
I use a set of travel speakers plugged straight into the HD2 speaker jack & everything runs fine.
I plug it into my stereo and it works 100%
I sometimes get the crazy behaviorwith common headphones. It's fine 99% of the time, but sometimes in the pocket the plug will start doing some bad contacts, and then it starts switching tracks, or even calling the last number...
Need to remove the headphones, wait a moment till it processes the ton of "false commands" that were sent, and plug again. Sometimes a reboot is needed too.
Youd think there could be a fix or on cooked roms a way to disable inputs from the headphone socket.
I guess I should have been a little clearer what I said, ...
and yes I typed it hard to understand ....
Some speakers work, some don't , some will give you false inputs, others will not ....
Most small portable speakers will not ...
I tested this theory just a little while ago ...
My regular headset from my mp3 player works fine ...
1 out of 2 sets of computer speakers I have makes my HD2 freak out ...
I tried my travel speakers again and they were fine, so I have tried my brothers portable speakers that are a different make, they too work fine. I have just tried it with my big house speakers and again fine.
Thinking about it, my Omnia & my HTC P3600 both came with headphones that had a microphone & control buttons on & I never had any problem plugging them into any speakers, same as I don't with my HD2 so I'm sure it can't be the phone & must be a rom issue or something like that I guess.
Sorry I can't be more helpful with an answer, but hopefully the tests I've just done will help in some way.

[Q] Audio Issues - Please Help

So i'm having some issues, and there's probably nothing that can be done, but i just thought i'd check. I had the motorola droid before switching to the fascinate, and i'm extremly happy with the move, but I do have some issues. The only thing I have not been able to fix is the phone audio.
I have a standard 3.5mm phono jack on my car stereo, and i will hook the fascinate up to it so i can listen to pandora or mp3's while on the way to and from work. on the droid this worked fine because if someone called me i could just answer, and it would route the incomming audio through the car speakers, and i could just talk and the droid's microphone would pick it up. i loved it because it was so much louder and clearer than the speakerphone. on the fascinate however if i answer the phone with it plugged in, i can hear the other person great, but they can't hear me at all. the fascinate is apparently muting the onboard mic expecting that one is plugged in. i'm wondering if this is happening to anyone else. is there a setting i can change to fix this? do i need to try a different kind of audio cable? any ideas?

Headphone issue

I recently picked up my Iconia and I'm loving it so far. I have run into an issue with the headphone jack, however. When I plug in headphones the tab detects them. It switches off output to the esternal speakers and shows a little headset icon in the system tray.
When I remove the headphone plug from the jack I expect the tab to detect the change and re-route sound to the external speakers (while also removing the headset indicator for the system tray). It does not. I have to restart the tab in order to get sound to the external speakers.
Does anyone else have this problem (search turned up no helpful results)? Is there something obvious that I'm missing?
Thanks for the help.

I definitely don't see that here, however it will pause your music software when you unplug the headphones, by design.

I have had this happen. I just plugged it back in and then unplugged it again and it worked fine. No need to reboot it, but I did notice this myself and was thinking that the jack connector is not picking up the release. This would be an easy fix, but one would have to open up the tablet to get to the jack lol.
So for now I am unplugging it straight out instead of a slight bend out. If it sticks, just plug it back in and unplug it again, it will pick it up. However I think that this jack issue is a quality issue that might become serious down the road. My opinion is the same for rocker switches (volume control) as I have seen rocker switches give out very quickly, so I am not a fan of anything that has a rocker switch. But, as these things are good for about a year, might as well hope for the best as next year we will dump these for the next newest thing out there. I don't think these are meant to go for years at a time. Just my .02 cents worth.

Same over here. Had this problem once or twice. Just plug your headset back in, and out again. That fixed it for me.
Thanks for the replies.
same problem here. quite annoying when I unplug the headphone and don't notice until i am away from the headphones....
I have had an issue where I plug in my headphones but sound to the speakers is NOT cut off sometimes. This can be embarrasing if you are on a bus with headphones on thinking that you are quietly watching a movie when in fact everyone around you is being treated to the audio from the love scene from Mad Men that you are watching.

Headphone jack problem?

Hey guys,
I anytime I try to use headphones with a built in mic, it doesn't work correctly. I have to fiddle with the plug to get the mic to work. In the mean time as I move it in and out slightly, the damn music app keeps launching. Any way I can turn off the auto launch of the music app? Any idea why the mic is so finicky? (other than a bad jack or being dirty?)
Thanks
I guess you need to change your headphone and mic...Most probably there's a break in the cable near the jack...commonest problem encountered in wired jack...
I should have specified that I have tried 2 sets of headphones, both of which work fine in my Skyrocket. Also, when I say "fiddle" with it, I mean pulling int in and out slightly, not putting pressure on the cable. I really can't understand why the friggin music player keeps popping up when I do this.
I'd still bet that the problem is somewhere around the female jack of the device...maybe it's loose. Guess you'd have to take it to a servicing center and get it fixed. Try using a pin to pull up the inner prong inside the female jack. This may tighten a loose connection.
Regarding your music player popping up, I have no idea.
I have the same problem and because of that, using tab as phone is impractical, the volume it too low and I need to pull the jack a bit to fix the issue.
are you using the earphones that came in with the tab? I also have this issue before then again, I realized that I didn't push the plug deep enough (you should hear a click/snap)
regarding the Music player launching, you can try looking for the "autostarts" app, and disable "launch musicplayer when headset is plugged in event" it requires root though
It seems to me that, in my case, the plug goes a bit too deep(I used original and the one i had from my galaxy S phone, same thing). It seems that the port is defective in some way.
