does it stain easily? and how good is the gps and WiFi?
the reason why im asking about the gps and wifi is because my G2's Gps is broken(i broke it) and my WiFi is utter crap because of no known reason(my router is in my room and i only get 1-2 bars)
p.s. i got the my touch from the valentines special my dad changed our plan to a 2yr agreement and got 4 free my touches
have you tried custom roms on the G2? that could be a issue. it doesnt stain super easy but yea better to get a cover for it and the GPS is accurate i use it for when i drive and navigation and i dont really use the Wifi just cause the HSDPA+ speed is faster than what i have.

yea ive rooted my G2 and basically the entire crap was defective Weak Wifi Signal No Gps antenna and when you slided the phone there was a big gap between the phone and the keyboard like you could look through it you could see the ribbon cable and through the other side and when you touched the screen with the keyboard opened it made this horrendous creaking noise
i hope HTC did a good job with this bad boy i cant wait to get it even i dont like the color white but whatever
Honestly if your going to out a case on it your not going to see the color of the phone anyways so doesn't really matter in the long run.

I have had my phone for about a month now and about 6 days ago I realised that it is now taking really blurry pics, so blurry you can barely see peoples faces without getting an inch from their face. My phones been dropped twice so there is a few dings on the edges. I wanna bring it in for warranty exchange, do you think they will just see the dings and assume the issue is because I dropped it? The camera issue didnt even start till atleast a week after the last time it got dropped. Or is the camera thing a known issue with this phone?
Thanks for any help or info.
Did you try cleaning the lens with some type of cleaner
sent from my badass slide running eugene's port of cm6
You mean like take the clear plastic cover off and clean the actual camera lense? Or just used a cleaner on the outside of the plastic cover? Either way no I havnt
I had the same problem, called tmo and they sent me a new phone.

When I was talking to the them they said its wasn't one of their "known" problems but it obviously is. But I just found out that the speaker for your ear doesn't work. I have to use speaker phone to make/receive any calls.

Im not sure if this is just me or if its everyone,
living in good old england i see more than my fair share of rain,
has anyone else had problems using the X10 in bad weather
as soon as even the smallest droplet of water lands on the screen the X10s touchscreen goes absolutely nuts for me, its pretty much impossible to navigate any menu's/contacts even swiping from homescreens is a chore
texting is absolutely impossible,
now i know i shouldnt really be texting in the rain anyway, but even slight drizzle kills off the phone
anyone else experienced this ?
Yea mate I'm in Scotland so worse lol. It's just the electric conductivity. Don't worry :-D
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
This will happen on ANY phone with a capacitive touchscreen (iPhone included). It's just one of the downsides of capacitive screens.
Lol read up on the differences between capacitive and resistive and you will understand.
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
I learned using a clear plastic bag, like a zip-lock, you can still use the touch screen. I dont think it will help with your problem, but atleast you can use your phone in the rain without worrying about destroying it.
Yea I noticed that on my X10. (my first touch phone)
I was about to enter my pin code and suddenly it went frenzy, I quickly turned the screen off before it got blocked
I never got that kind of a problem when using my X10 in a light drizzle a couple of days ago. I do have a screen protector film on my phone though. So that could have helped somewhat.
Sent from my X10a using Tapatalk
I am not sure what the prerequisite conditions are exactly as I often get splashes on my screen but often it makes no difference.
First time it happened to me I freaked until someone explained to me the difference in screen types.
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
hmm, that's funny but I guess I never used my X10 without the screen protector before. I have a Mirror screen protector (look it up on ebay) and I've used it out when it was drizzling before.
radio signals weaken with the rain, this affects phones, satellite tv, radio, etc
is just normal unless the reception in the UK sux
Hi all, the "h" from the htc logo on the back of my legend has come off. A trivial thing but annoying, it's now just an "h" shaped dent with a couple of glue holes. The metal "h" is now somewhere in Greater London
The phone's still under warranty but wondering if this was a common issue?
I have seen it before but not sure how common, try sending it back!
Well somebody already mentioned this problem. But his was the 'C'. Its not that common but it does happen.
I make up the trio - I've lost the 't' from the back of mine. It hasn't been through any major falls or anything so it's probably something they'd fix under warranty.
I've noticed mine sounds like there's something moving if I give it a fairly hard tap where the rubber around the camera is; I don't know if that's how it's always been though.
Crazy, I looked at mine after reading your post and I'm missing the h now as well. Wonder how long ago it fell off...

It's the autofocus. Same "klick" as when it is focusing on cam app mode.

I took this video of my shift from my original evo. If its not as bad as the iPhone its still troubling.
What do you all think?
I tried replicating your results and haven't been able to. My signal doesn't seem to change at all regardless of how I hold the phone.
Unable to replicate.

think someone has too much time on their hands
Mine does the exact same thing. It is pretty annoying. Probably my biggest complaint about the Shift so far.
Mine did the same as well. PArt of why I returned it
does the same thing for me as well.
There is another thread further down in general that talks about low signal issues and the antenna being in the bottom of the phone.
I figured this issue might be related to just my home but it happens every where. I am hopeful its a defective antenna otherwise I'm considering returning and going back to my Evo.

Same thing happens with wifi. Maybe get a holster and Bluetooth headset? I know. I have an idea for an invention. A hat that has a holster on top for your phone. No more body blocking signals!
Another thing kinda related, the old phones with the telescopic antennas usually always outperformed phones with stub or internal antennas. I say bring back the telescopic antennas and get more bars!
I was able to replicate this quite easily on the wifes shift...however I am left handed so it doesn't effect me as much when held in my left hand...this may be a huge factor in deciding which phone I get w/ my upgrade on the 1st though

Like the video said, pretty much all phones do it so that's nothing new. Some might be worse than others.
I still can't make mine do it, but I do know the signal on this thing is worse than my hero pretty much all the time.
Sent from my bathroom, with toilet paper.
Mine seemed to be doing that at first but not consistently. This phone is definetly getting better service where I live than my old hero though

I feel lucky, I seem to be the only without this problem who is also getting BETTER reception than I did with my Hero. I know someone else in my area with this phone, I'll ask and see if he's having any issues like this.
Mine will do this, but I have a very poor connection in my house. It's always on the verge of going into roaming/not having service. So it doesn't take much to lose signal strength.

Hi
I got my HTC one just under a week ago on three and I'm in love with it. But there are some things I'm worried about. One thing is that when I play games or plug the phone in charge the cool aluminum back becomes rather uncomfortably hot and makes me have to switch hands, it doesn't burn but it does irritate...
Secondly I've seen some posts about gaps at the top and I have those but I was wondering if anyone else has a very fine bulge of the plastic above where the usb port is? I don't know if this is a fault of my phone or it is a general thing so I don't know whether to ask for an exchange or not... If anyone wants pictures of the gap just say!

i dont see anything
The tiny white bit in the right side, look across the phone and you'll see it better because you can't see the white bit anywhere else... I do have really sharp eyes though so If you can't see it I'm sorry

I can see it, i have excactly the same on my One, im just living with it though as everything else is soo perfect!
The only thing im worried about, is were that is, were the charger plugs in, the 2 little 'Catches' on the charger that hold it in rub on the white bit, in other words the hole seems to small, only slightly, i may contact HTC about this as im a little worried it will cause future problems like a Broken Charger or Charge Point etc. . .
Yeah that's exactly what I was worried about with the charger thing, if you do contact HTC let me know how it goes

i still cant see it. somebody mind circling it out in an edited photo?

Mine gets very hot too, I'm guessing that is a metal thing though, the gaps don't bother me or any slight overhang.
For me the issues are...
Blinkfeed
Heat
slow charging
home button is so hard to hit because it's small and in the corner
no battery percentage
no file search on the phone

Try a launcher or put blink feed to the side and disable all sources? The file search apps on the market do me fine but normally they put something on the battery so there is less heat transfer to one spot I n the metal but I don't think they've done that in the first batch :/ and mine charges pretty fine as well

I too have the overhang on the charging port. I have had two handsets (first one replaced due to gaps at top which moved when pressed) and its been on them both.
Second one has a slight dent/scratch in the white band, so ill wait another week (still in 28 days) and try and get another swap out. I do love the phone, battery life is immense, I'm getting about 2.5 days out of it at mo.
I have owned so many HTC phones it boggles the mind. In that time I have had to have 3 go in for repair. On stopped charging (one S) another had the wifi GPS glitch (one X international) and one just plain died one day to never turn on again (ATT one x+). All of these were taken care of by HTC. Can't say without issue, the international one X they scratched the case and took a little while to get a new one but in the end all my issues were taken care of. I would really say wait until HTC has resolved these issues and then they will take care of you 100%. You will need to be able to send the phone in for repair but they are fairly quick about 10 days total turn around time. They also didn't have any issue at all repairing a international phone at the USA HTC repair center something that is not true with Samsung.
Are you in the UK or America? Cus if you're in the UK I think I can get an exchange as well
