whats the fastest wildfire rom at the minute? sense or no sense doesnt really matter? like cyanogen or something, my phone is really slow at the minute which is really annoying me
wild puzzle, put an overclocked kernal on and use SetCPU to overclock, that might speed your phone up a bit.
Thats what i would do.

It is probably a kernel issue. Try reusing HCDR.Kernel v4.1 from it's specific thread. Apart from that, you can try Openfire ROM as well, which is a completely vanilla AOSP build.
cold it be that rom manager didnt wipe properly? iv just manualy gone through and wiped everything and it hasnt crashed on me yet,
i thought the kernel would be flashed fresh from cm7?

Yes, it is always recommended to wipe it manually through the Recovery Menu. You have to wipe data, cache, dalvik cache and /system for best results before installing a new ROM.
As for the kernel, yes, it is included by default in CM7, but it is v4.2. Using v4.2 has caused some stability issues for some members, and, in that case, it is recommended to revert back to kernel v4.1
yeh thanks for that info, was a kernel issue i hope, all been goin good so far
strange, cause the only difference between 4.1 and 4.2 is the wifi driver.

Well since using the 4.1 keen every thing is working perfect, nice and fast no fcs or random reboots.

Cm6 and Cm7 is a bit not very stable for me, have to reboot one or two times a day. Maybe I'll switch to other.
you are doing it wrong, cm7 is really stable. I m using nightly 19 for weeks without any problems.

Don't think so, do a wipe data, system, darkvik cache, flash #53, boot in, first time ADW FC. reboot, flash 4.1 kernel, boot again, ADW FC again
I can reproduce it everytime, lol
I used CM the last two weeks..
Yesterday I went to the new CM7 Rc1 then i moved to Openfire..
it's very stable and fast, even without setCPU.. i've just backup all my apps and it is wonderful..
The last cyanogen seems to be quite slow sometimes..

Well I was looking for a new kernel the other day. I was getting tired of the lag of kingklicks kernels for gps. No offense king, Ive used your kernels since day one of my inc. So I went searching for a new kernel and tried out ziggys outrageous 1.28 lightspeed kernel which turned out to b false (really 1.15, somebody lied to him bout the code). Well on Oct 26th he came out with his new BFS kernel of the source code 2.6.32.24 with being overclock to 1.19. He uses this for bfs which king is still using 2.6.32.15. So far as using it no lag on gps and still get the same quadrant(1680) and linpack(40.223) as kings BFS. If you looking to try a new kernel heres the link. I hope ziggy471 dont mind but mad props to him.

I have used it on skyraider 3.3.2 now for the last 3 days with exceptional responsiveness and exceptional battery life. I heard people use the AOSP kernel for cyanogenmod and it has been worthy for them too. Difference is AOSP is for people who dont use SENSE UI in the rom. What rom are you using? Also did you clear dalvik cache and regular cache for. I downloaded the non-AOSP.
You can't be using one or the other kernel, either your running an AOSP rom or a Sense rom. That right there tells you which kernel to choose.

I hope this is in reference to the comment above my last one. Cuz I do know what kernel and rom Im running. I use the non-AOSP cuz my sense ui is still intact. NON_VANILLA
This is BFS with HAVS correct? How is the battery life/responsiveness?
Battery life is excellent, best I have had. Quadrant has been in the 1400's consistently (overclocked to 1.113), as apposed to others that are in the 1100-1200 range (including king's) with random moments of greatness into 1400.

Does it lag at all though? I installed King's CFS on CM 6.0.2 and it lagged alot. The 6.1rc2 kernel is very snappy
Nope, no lag. Just a good kernel. I am actually very pleased considering I have suffered with others.
After about 20 or so hours my phone has to be restarted, for some reason there is lag that occurs that can only be fixed with a reboot.

This is why I stopped using Kings kernals, phone gets stuck at 100% cpu and needs to be reset.
That sucks this kernal does the same.
I just wiped Dalvik and system cache, installed and rebooted. It's seemingly stuck on the bootscreen. How long has it taken to reboot you guys?
Up to ten minutes after wiping Dalvik cache. Hang tight!
It's probably the BFS scheduler... even though the bfs faq says it's good to use in phones.. lol
http://ck.kolivas.org/patches/bfs/bfs-faq.txt
I wonder if our phones would benefit from a higher tickrate when using bfs..

Well, user "Panda Fuzz" is using this kernal okay with my radio version. Hmm.. Must be my 2.5.1.1 version of CMR. People have reported problems with SR 3.3.2 and 2.5.1.1, but not me. This will be the first problem I have encountered with it. Guess I will try going back to CMR 2.5.0.5 and give ole ziggy another shot.
I posted yesterday about my girlfriend's EVO freezing up on her after i rooted and her pictures randomly disappearing. I want to install a new ROM on her phone to see if the issues will go away but I need help on choosing the best FroYo ROM that is fully functional. Particularly one that is clean of bloat and is pretty fast. I've searched around but haven't found anything that is as basic as what I'm looking for. I only see her on weekends so if something goes wrong I wont be there to fix it for her so that is the reason I need the best functioning ROM with the least issues.
P.S. I own a Fascinate so please bare with me I'm not familiar with EVO ROMs, Kernels etc...
If you want clean and simple. Frost Rom.
If you want more to a ROM you willl have to look through each thread as there are a ton of great roms...Mik, Warm, Calk, Azrael, Fresh...etc

CM7 gps issue is easily solved by doing dialing ##gpsclrx# in a sense rom to reset the gps.
My answer to the op, my opinion cleanest Rom that's fully functional is Cm7 nightly 6 or higher, of course they're 2.3.2 and nightly 11 is 2.3.3 not 2.2.1 like was asked.

If you download any nightly from build 6 and up, Wimax is implemented and working, I am currently running Nightly #11, Wimax works, GPS works(I had to use ##gpsclrx#), worked for me, but as they said doesn't work for everyone.
So basically If you want to load CM7 on her phone
1. Download the latest nightly http://mirror.kanged.net/nightly/supersonic/cm_supersonic_full-11.zip
2. Download gingerbread gapps http://android.d3xt3r01.tk/cyanogen/gapps/gapps-gb-20110120-signed.zip
3. download mslreader from the market, and write the number down.
4. open the dialer and type ##44772579# (this may or may not make your gps work on gingerbread, but it doesn't hurt to do it anyway)
5. Input the msl number that you wrote down
6. the phone will reboot, let it come all the way back up
7. Reboot to recovery
8. (Do this step twice to be safe) Wipe Data, Cache, and Dalvik-Cache(located under advanced for clockworkmod)
9. Flash CM7
10. Flash Gapps before booting into CM7 (found this has had the most success for me)
11. Enjoy Gingerbread with MOAR GEEEEEE's

Hello,i have used jetpack with talondev kernel for a month, very fast, great battery life and seems very stable!
here the thead http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1178026
I would figure the stock firmware would be the best thing for freezing and reboots.
Ian
most often crashes and freezes are from legacy data and bits of stuff left from previous flashes that are incompatible with whatever you have on there now. Won't matter what you install until you cleanse the phone fully.
Backup your apps and data, copy the backup to your pc or the external sd card and then cleanse the phone and then flash the firmware of your choice.
I've been using MIUI rom for several months now. Have tried going back to stock roms such as JVS but I have to say I liked MIUI more...

after flashing nearly every custom rom out there over the last year I'm currently doing the same as you and running stock JVT with semaphore 1.8.
This stock rom is so good that imo there is probably little point in running anything other than stock. Been running mostly jetpack v6 recently but got fed up of the occasional freezes and reboots.

Used CM7 for a while but returned to stock JVT
Hi,
as the title said, I used CM7 (stable/released version) for some days/weeks and I must admit: it was runnning very stable! But the one thing that got me returning to a stock version, was the fact that one had to download the Google Apps (Gapps like RomManager calls it) in order to get Gmail, Market, Maps etc, on the device.
Having said that Gapps that I downloaded, was only for 2.3.5 where CM7 is running (a modified) 2.3.7; so after a few days the Google Framework FC'ed heavily on me, after finding some solutions online (cleaning data etc), I came to realize that I use Gmail (and its "native" features) very often, so I decided to return to stock JVT.
I am checking from time to time whether Gapps is being ported to 2.3.7; and if that's the case (hopefully soon) I will jump immediately back to CM7
I hope my post helps you a bit further.
Cheers!
Been running cm7 for weeks now, not even 1 FC on me...All kind of issue is due to bad flashing and user's error! What i suggest is that you make a clean install. When i say "clean install" meaning flashing back to froyo, wipe internal SD, cache...etc Flash GB latest FW den to cm7. This is to make sure u have a very clean base, no doubt is troublesome, but end of the day, its very worthwhile...
Yes I second or third that (Cyanogen Mod 7.1)

Guys i've flashed SFM 3.0 hero, good rom but the wifi doesn't works so i want come back to stock. the big problem is that's my sister's phone and this rom has deleted the recovery and now i don't manage to reinstall it. it says flash_image not found. i even tried with this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=645253 at the step missing flash image, but every thing i do it get reveals useless. here's a screenshot of prompt adb: http://imageshack.us/f/338/immaginevi.png/
Guys please help me, it's important!
more details:
i've started with the stock 2.1 and rooted with universal androot and flashed SFM 3.0 with AmonRA recovery.
now if i try open the recovery it's stuck on the bootlogo. i tried with fastboot, adb, the official RUU but it says that my phone's firmware is wrong.
update: now doesn't stuck on the boot logo, but it boots normally without a recovery.
it's rooted on the SFM 3.0 rom and give the "flash_image not found" error
first things first. i have no idea how to get back to stock using the official RUU
however i do have a few alternatives you could try just in case you don't find the answer your looking for
now you say you flashed sfm 3.0. a similar rom to this would be Wildheroc ROSE V5. its exactly the same as sfm 3.0 but its more stable. it can be found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1316886 also you could try this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=24343144&postcount=500 which is a themed version of ROSE V5 created by slobo2712.
if your looking for a stock rom then i highly recomend Heroine ++ which can be found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1295991 this rom is seriously fast. its basically the same as stock with a few minor adjustments here and there
there are other roms which remove sense from your phone that i could recommend but if your looking to keep sense on your phone then those two roms are the ones I'd highly recommend
i know this doesn't exactly answer your question of how to flash the official RUU from HTC but as i said previously in the post i simply don't know. these are just a few options you could try if you don't find your answer.

Do you DEFINITELY still have the stock kernal? The reason I ask is because Elelinux roms usually come with flykernal13.
Sometimes re flashing a rom can solve issues. So I'd say go into your recovery and wipe data 2 or 3 times just to make sure because 1 wipe sometimes doesn't get rid of everything. Then wipe cache and dalvik cache and then re flash the rom
If that doesn't work then you could try flashing the Las Venturas kernal but I'd doubt it would be a kernal problem

I've never touched the bootloader so I'm afraid I can't really answer that question
As for best Rom. There isn't really an overall best rom. It all just comes down to personal preference and what your looking for in a Rom but there are roms that are a step ahead in each android version.
If stock 2.1 is what your looking for then you can't beat heroine ++ if you want sense or you could try VE 6.2 if you want AOSP
As for 2.2 froyo you could try FloYo. I used it once and it seemed ok
And as for 2.3 gingerbread. If your after a 2.3 sense Rom then wildheroc is by far the best one around at the moment. As for 2.3 AOSP roms I'd highly recommend decked_x or any of the elelinux roms or even the two latest cyanogenmod nightlies

Hi guys,
i know that Thread is kind of lazy but my girlfriends Galaxy S1 (Stock 2.3 ROM not rooted) is soooo damn slow and i wanna help her with a new ROM,Kernel etc...
Myself is using the newest ICS Release on my HTC Desire but i readed and informed me everyday for best performance.
At the HTC Desire topic im very well-informed but the Samsung topic is extremly new for me...so only thing i did : Stock 2.2 to Stock 2.3
(Kies is bull**** xD ?!?!)
I would like to root my girlfriends Droid but i dont know which ROM or Kernel should i chose...there are sooo much.
Because of that...guys: Whats the best, smoothest and especially stable ROM (especially for girls^^) whatever Gingerbread or ICS...i think JB is not smooth enough like on Desire :/ (too much issues etc)
It would be pretty if someone could help me so that i can boost the performance of my girlfriends phone on the best and stable way.
THX
Try stock android 2.3.6 ZSJW4. Root it with CF Root and she will be fine. Very stable and smooth with no bugs. Yoy can find it on Sammobile.com
For Gingerbread I recommend the Samsung stock roms, which are pretty stable.
See this thread for official GB firmwares from Samsung (includes also a guide for flashing stock roms with Odin).
See this thread for CF-Root, a basic rooted kernel for stock GB roms (it's the stock kernel with added su binary, SuperUser app and CWM recovery).
See this thread for Semaphore, an extended kernel for stock GB roms.
I only tried Cyanogenmod 9 as ICS rom so I can't recommend any other ICS rom, but CM9 is pretty stable (I'm using RC2 atm and have no big problems). To install CM9 or other ICS based roms, you need to install CF-Root or Semaphore first (through Odin), to get CWM recovery.
thx guys, but
@ c_codrut: i don't think that TouchWiz is a good choice...because its still boring and slowly
@stbenz: thanks for your informations, i will look at this. But im intrest about the CM9 Stuff on Galaxy S
I also use CM9 for my desire but its not officially supported...its an ROM from xda (DK-Zero) and its know very stable and without any big issues.
But i used it since 2012/04..and at this time it was very buggy...no mic no camera etc...for me no problem but for her xD not acceptable^^
But my problem is that myself can fix problems on my device and can live with it...but i dont want that my girlfriend need help with every update or something else...she should use the ROM as an almost stable and for daily-usable ROM.
I know that i should or could test it but its not my device and i couldn't walk all day with it^^ (hope you understand this )
It would be cool, if see could use ICS by CM or what about the AOKP ? (i missed that for my desire :/)
So best thing would be a almost stable ICS ROM....i/she dont need that Samsung UI i guess.
CM9 RC2 (from 2012-07-19) or the Nightly (from 2012-08-07) ?
or what about AOKP (Milestone 6) ?
cm9 + latest devil kernel :highfive:

With cm9 all hardware works except for fm radio. Some are reporting, that the latest nightlies are more stable than rc2, but thats most likely because bugfixes for bugs reported for rc2 are already merged to the nightlies. But I also think we are not far away from the next rc/final version, so if you don't want to flash too often, you could wait for the next rc/final version.

Hey, I am using this ROM and I can only say it is extremely good, a real revelation after using Froyo and GB. I had some issues with CM9 but it was also great and superfast. i9000 with ICS is like a completely new phone!

And when i update the ROM ...does it works like on Desire (wiping cache and dalvik) installing newest RC or Nightly?
Or the Kernels needs often to be update?

The kernel gets flashed every time you install an update, so if you have an alternative kernel, you have to flash it again every time you flash a new CM9 version. You also have to flash gapps after every update.
Girls will like MIUI ROM. Its beautiful and have custom theme... try it out.

Hi guys...im back and finished my work
I rooted with Odin and hopefully with the correct Kernel. After that i made a NAND-Backup.
So i wiped everything and flashed CM9 RC2 and the Gapps...and everything was smooth and cool
But so far i didn't flashed the devilkernel yet...the CM-kernel seems ok.
So my question whats the Pros and Cons of the Devil-kernel compared to the CM-builtin-Kernel?
I think batterylife is important than extreme power and high batteryloss, i guess for her ^^
BTW: To make CM more female, i installed a pink theme and a pink clock widget for my girlfriend, she's happy now
And again guys...THANKS...it was very interesting to flash and root an other device (brand) and i saw the differences, Pros and Cons!
In my opinion Rooting on desire was easier and not needed as much informations and readings ^^
I hope she get no big problems but i not averse to work on her device too^^
And im jealous that her ROM runs so stable...on Desire its also stable but the Videocam doesnt work ...damn :crying: (very choppy)
But there isn't a official CMsupport or 100% HWA
i don't know about the devils kernel, but i can definitely recommend the ICS semaphore kernel http://forum. xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1468795
just remove the spaces.
using the smartassV2 govenor, etc, my phone's battery lasts about a day longer than it did on the cm9 kernel
Ok, i also use this governor on my desire and an extra sleep state governor
...the smartass v2 rocks !!!!

woooow nice THX...but lol...i finished my work 2 days before xD
So is it possible to flash the stable Version over the RC2?without any negative aspects?!
The update process is like desire? wiping Cache and dalvik an flash the New Version?
Sry for these noob question but i want a good running system for my girl and cannot test the system many days like on my device

You just flash the stable over RC2, flash the google apps, and that's it. No need to wipe anything. If in doubt, make a nandroid backup before flashing.
