[Q] Switch between "GSM" and "Automatically" band - Windows Mobile Development and Hacking General

Hello, after trying different application to switch between 2G and 3G, I have not found one that can do that with a click or automatically and running on my HD Mini.
What I want :
When I activate the data connection, the band will automatically set in "AUTO" mode,
When I disable the data connections, the band is automatically set in "GSM" mode.
Does anyone know how to do (for the setup connections or by an software) ?
Thank you all!

Nobody knows a solution to answer my problem?

Good evening!
Thank you, I downloaded this software and I installed it on my HD Mini. The functions of manual switch between 2G and 3G bands are well, but the automatic mode does not work well (after having switched to 3G, the band never comes back on 2G automatically ...)
But thank you for your help ....
In fact, I would like an application that allows me to simply switch between the GSM (2G only) and AUTO (2G/3G)....
I just need the "Band Switcher application" from WMLongLife !
Besgt Regards, JBS 68

I realize it is not a free app and it probably does way more than you need, but I use PhoneAlarm to do automatic band switching. It certainly has the capability to switch between GSM and Automatic modes, based on all sorts of factors, like time, calendar status, or even location. One of the things I use it for is to switch between GSM and 3G, based on my GPS location, since my office has lousy 3G coverage.

Thank you very much for your help!!
But yes, phone alarm is too full, I would have liked to see something more simple, just an application like "Toggle BlueTooth" that allows the user to switch between GSM and 3G AUTO mode with one click!
But thank you to you, it's very nice to have responded

Hmm, CommManager does this? I got the 7-th option as "Change to GSM/Automatic mode.". It's easily done with a reg tweak.

Hello,
Thank you for your help, but I'm a beginner, so for the reg tweak ....
My CommManager is like this :
I tried to change for this one, but it's just a skin, the button does not work!
(my report here)
But if you know how to change this button to work, you're welcome (with a reg tweak?) !
Thank you by advance !!

Use your finger to scroll through the Settings tab (between weather and programs), then you can click on the Communication Manager. It's one step less than your method.
The new Manager looks nice, but what is there to 'beam'?
The only one I miss on the panel originally inside the oficial roms, is the possibility to cgange between 3G to GSM.
98% of the time, I only use GSM. Only when I need to navigate or make a video call, then I use 3G....otherwise it's useless, and battery consuming...

I was about to ask the same thing...as far as i can see in the settings...theres the option to accept beams but you cant beam anything??. Does the Diamond come with an infra red sensor?? because i cant see any sensor on the side of the phone??
Otherwise that comm mananger looks really nice...ill be downloading it later and applying it to my Diamond
Oh you star! Well done, this is perfect for me as I have 3G in the park outside but not in the house so while it's always searching for 3G my GSM signal suffers.
Top marks to you.

Bluetooth means turn bluetooth on, so if you have a headset for example that's already been paired it'll work.
Turning beam on means your device is discoverable, so something which hasnt already paired can see it. I guess its usefull to quickly turn on beam to grab something from a friend, then turn it back off again.
What software can they use to make this type of modifications
Ok, everything's clear now I've installed the app too as it looks like there are only benefits. It would be better if the flight mode would be available too. Now I turn flight modus on by holding the hang-up button.
Thanks for the little app!

After wanting the new Touch Flo 2D dialer by pauldgroot
But being stuck with a CDMA device. I created this dialer using his as inspiration.
this is only a skin so 911 and smartdial is not affected in any way and will continue to work.
Install:
1. uninstall any previous dialers.
2. install this dialer
3. reset device.
4.
this will work with any CDMA device that is running the touch dialer or dialpad.
Nice work on that!

yes but using GSM dialers on CDMA devices disables 911. if you need to dial 911 from your phone it will not work. this is a known issue.
oh really didn't know that
sweet, i can finally have the nice skin while not have my data connection be active all the time (from using a gsm dialer)

like all the GSM dialers, i believe it is a .dll issue. the CDMA devices require a certain dll be running to use 911 and other features. most GSM dialers have a new dll to frame the dialer and this turns the OEM dll off. at least that's how i understand it.
Tom ... I posted this pics as I would love for you to make use these backgrounds to make a new dialer for me using the same as the format you release in Post #1.
Awesome looking dialer and i'm on VzW so i need a CDMA dialer like yours.
Thanks a lot. If 2 dialers are to many ... please make one using my Fraternity's Shield (the Omega_Background Pic).

Loudtalks Lite 0.9.0.49 for Windows Mobile UPDATE 20-03-2009
Perhaps something for you guy's.
Push to talk for Winhose Mobile.
What is Loudtalks?
Loudtalks brings voice back to the internet communications. It's a little application, which allows you to talk to your friends or colleagues instantly with a single touch of a button. Think walkie talkie. It's faster than text chat and more convenient than calls. Loudtalks is available for Windows right now, but we are working hard to bring it to other platforms soon, including your mobile phone. Loudtalks is free and will always be free.

Download Loudtalks cab 0.9.0.49
Release notes
Power saving mode (”Turn off screen” menu option). When you select this option device screen turns off, while Loudtalks keeps running so you can receive messages and respond to them using central navigation key.
Vibrate option (if supported by device). It’s turned on by default so when you set your status to Away or Busy your device will vibrate on new messages. You can turn it off in Settings.
Report a problem… menu option. If something doesn’t work you can send us a report right from the software.
(Hint: even if everything works please use it to send your feedback or suggestions!)
Activate contact list, when switching to Loudtalks from other applications. Now you can use push-to-talk without tapping contact list first.
Automatically select the contact, when new conversation starts. That way when you hear “New conversation” alert, even if your screen is turned off, you can respond immediately by simply pressing PTT hardware button.
The website Loudtalks.com will automatically detect Windows Mobile device browser and display a mobile-optimized page so the easiest way to get the new Loudtalks is to visit Loudtalks.com on your device

Yea it will it's an OTA app it's not as responsive as say Nextel but works pretty good. only problem is if you leave it runnign it eats your battery because it keeps the data connection open while its on.

but with diamond can not make it , this app would be awesome if could be minimized and the battery issue cause the conecction always activate.
thanks great program
My first post, new user to Windows Mobile 6.1 have a HTC Touch Pro on Sprint. I like the idea of 2-way, as I am a former Nextel customer, and used to sell 2-way public safety radios.
Will there be plans to create an app for non-Window devices? We have a Samsung Rant in the family as well as we are Mac users. Be great to see this grow into a decent wired/wireless arena. Lot of nice possibilities.
Thanks
Dave
Hi Belsj,
I was wondering if there's a maximum range it covers since it's a walkie talkie application but it uses the internet e.g. wifi, 3g etc so I'm assuming it can connect to anyone?
Can you please confirm?
Range is WORLDWIDE.. and if there is a internetconnection in the ISS spaceconsole, then it's even "space"wide
LoudTalks
Just got Loud Talks works absolutely awesome all work computers and 6.5 phones work

Htc pure 2100mhz/hsdpa

Hi
I've bought a HTC PURE AT&T, but I noticed on the box specifications it does not have 2100MHZ band. Vodafone provides HSDPA/3G on 2100 band in my country.
How can I activate HSDPA on 2100 BAND?
I have tried Advance Config application and have enabled HSDPA icons but it still only shows GPRS.
Will installing a new custom ROM fix activate HSDPA?
Thanks
Well you bought the wrong device. The Pure only supports UMTS850 and UMTS1900. You should have bought the European Diamond 2 for UMTS2100 support.

But this seems to be a screenshot from a Pure:
I think you onto something there Tom.
What is the menu path to get to that screenshot?
I still have the AT&T rom on, which I would like to uninstall( have already HARDSPL), but I want to install the HTC official 6.5 rom. Could the AT&T rom be hiding the functionality to choose the band?
Ok found in other posts there should be a band tab:
Settings/All Settings/Personal/Phone/Click on the Band Tab it is under the Selet your GSM/UMTS band.
But because i'm using AT&T ROM still I assume its been removed.
What application can I use to change the band? Will RegEdit work?
Radio bands are hardcoded into the processor. no way to change it. sorry

Hi, sorry to dig up a relatively old thread, but im from Australia and am looking to purchase a HTC Pure. Problem is, my carrier runs on 900/2100Mhz for HSDPA.
Did changing the radio band work? Does the phone now work properly on 3G/HSDPA?
Also, how hard is it to access the registry key? Do i need to hack the phone in any way? Or is there a guide i can follow?
Thanks.

No, there is no way to make what the software says about the settings make the phone do something it cant. it PHYSICALLY cannot support 2100, as others have stated, it will not now nor ever work.

att has it listed as a world phone working in 2100 wcdma areas .. it worked for my aunt in japan .. AU i dunno but it can use 2100 .
From everything I have read and researched there is no way to change it. I believe the option of the 2100 is a carryover from the HTC Tilt 2 for AT&T. Tilt 2 has 2100 capability.

2 wifi network - force to use wifi 1 instead of wifi2

I have two wifi networks that I have at home, but my LG G6 keeps connecting to wifi2 when I want it to connect to wifi1
Is there a way to either..
a. force to use wifi1
b. disable wifi2 config
I don't want to "forget" wifi2 because of its long password that I would find a pain to type in again! I shouldn't be having to open system settings, then wifi then select wifi1 each time as thats a pain too!
Any ideas?

hmm worth a look. Looks like it picks the strongest signal, but not quite what I want - the strongest signal would be wifi2 (which I don't want to connect as there is no internet access via that wifi). I'll give that a try but wish there was something without having to install an app.

interesting, I thought you were on a winner there, but when I added a new wifi (after deleting my old one), I checked "advanced options", but I don't have the option to "auto-connect" like your screen shot. basically, I have everything as per screen shot EXCEPT the auto connect checkbox?! hmmm. I am on LG-H870DS but wouldn't have thought that would make any difference.

I'm on H870 EU not H870ds. I can say nothing about differences between both version atm.
Next week I'll get my new H870dsu from HK so I can take a closer look on WiFi settings if you wish.
Anyone mind if you could have a look at your H870DS (mine is TWN v10h) and see if you got "auto-connect" feature on wifi. If you do, could you let me know what version you have. ta.
wifi manager on appstore..you can use it to prefer a wlan on another...
@tweedie
FYI: I've got my h870ds HKG. Indeed there isn't any “Auto connect“ option in WiFi.
FW V10h and 10j-HKG.

You're welcome. That would be such a simple solution.
