[EDIT] First post above ^^^^^ now has the working bootanimation attached good job Shiftone
Pushing with android flasher.
I've used the same image Res as other boot animations. My individual frames are quite a bit larger in file size though, due to full screen colour.

Which folder are you pushing to ? there are 2 different folders depending on your ROM
1) /system/customise/resource/
2) /data/local/
Not 100% certain as Android Flasher is an automated process - I can however confirm that it flashes other bootanimations correctly.

Can you upload a bootanimation that works please and i'll take a look for you
attached
at least 10 chars
Thanks that is also 480x800 so im thinking you really might have to resize your images. and make sure they are 24bit png's if they aren't already
Have a look at the images in the part0 and part1 folders - they are 320 x 480
I have had a play and got the image size down - I had my bit rate too high and now that I've indexed them they are a lot smaller.... but still not working....
then played about with desc.txt
and hey presto!
attached
please test and feedback!
EDIT - please use the file linked here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=11285812&postcount=4367
framerate adjusted.
So did it work for you ? if not try the attached file all iv'e done is resized the images .. please save to different area of your computer than the original so it doesn't overwrite it
Thanks for looking at it with me - just sorted it in the post above. final version here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...postcount=4367
It was a combination of not having the colour depth right and desc.txt not quite formated correctly. Try it out and tell me what you think.

Hey all,
Well, I've been playing around with this for a few hours now, and the prospect looks pretty good. I haven't touched QT since I was about 16, but I seem to still remember a little . I'm sure you've seen the videos of pictureflow running on the the HTC touch, well, now it's your chance to test it out on your own device!
It runs perfectly smooth on my Wizard, but I haven't been able to test it out very extensively.
It has been compiled with the re-worked version that Jesper did for the chumby, which adds simple mouse support, and fullscreen ability. Link:http://ariya.blogspot.com/search/label/pictureflow
Things you should know:
This demo will load up any image files that are in the same directory as the exe.
Supported image formats:JPEG, PNG, BMP, XBM, XPM and PNM
I think that's pretty much it, I'll be looking at optimizing things, and researching the dropping of some of those dll files. Otherwise, our rom cookers will have to weave them in there somehow.
Looking forward to hearing about how it runs. .
PS.
No windows mobile 2003 support.
Thanks to alipendier for working with me online to make sure of proper WM5 support.
Updates::
Version 0.6 [1/21/08]:
Ok the long awaited 0.6 Release. Basically, there is only one bad thing about this release (for me at least), and I'm going to say it now. Please don't complain about this, I know it's a prob. Fullscreen images look like crap! It's a small problem, and will be fixed, possibly with a hotfix soon. Why? In an effort to make Everything as efficient as possible, I asked myself? Why load full sized images in the PictureFlow ribbon? So on load, I get the thumbnail versions of each picture, and load those instead. The result is, A MUCH MUCH MUCH faster loading time on my wizard! It was really noticeable for me, and I hope the same for everyone else.
Re-Added support for all the other picture formats that your device reads natively.
I'd also like to extend a HUGE thank you to A_C for sending me a PM alerting me to the Imaging API for our windows mobile devices. Imgdecmp, truly pales in comparison. I threw the funkiest pictures at PictureFlow, and they all load up BEAUTIFULLY, and quickly. I'm talking 50+ images, of all different formats, and even a few 1mb+ images in the mix up. And this is all from the storage card.
If PictureFlow doesn't like an image (for some strange reason) it shouldn't reload the last picture it loaded over and over again. This release is the biggest step towards efficiency, I really hope that everyone else experiences what I have experienced on my Wizard.
Oh, and I've erased the download links for all the previous versions, except 0.5. This version should work for both WM5/6 users.
Enjoy this one guys.
Version 0.7 01/24/08: (Hot Fix For 0.7 Below) <<< Everyone should install it!
Finally, version 0.7! Instead of typing a paragraph I'll do this one list style.
1)Full screen pictures don't look like crap anymore when you full screen them.
2)Aspect-Ratio problems FIXED! So your pictures of all resolutions should look good.
3)Appleton's graphics have been added, so PF looks a lot better than before.
4)All graphics are loaded up dynamically, and can be found in the gfx folder. So you can make whatever changes you'd like to them. Advanced skin support will come later. But for now, you can change the buttons to whatever you'd like, once they've got the same size . Artists, go crazy!
I think that's it,
Let me know how things go.

Hi,
Dexxa05 has just put up a compiled item in appleton's thread just above this one. Is his compilation different to yours or can we test either?
Thanks for putting this up, by the way.

This version includes simple mouse support, as well as joystick support. I don't think he compiled his own with mouse support . Also, his own comes with some nice testing images.
@E_Shinobi
Are your pictures in the same folder as the exe? Also, remember, they must be in PNG, BMP, XBM, XPM or PNM format. No jpeg.

BMP wouldn't work. Tested it with PNGs and now it's working nearly flawlessly on non overclocked prophet.
This is very promising! Glad to finally see that work.
@lijnsane: As he wrote, he FORGOT to compile it with jpeg decompression. Sometimes reading actually helps
It works perfect on my Cingular 8125
@thundershadow14
You've done it again!! Just when I thought I couldn't get more surprised by your work, you've managed to make me fall on my ass one more time. I know it is still in very early stages, but it works like a charm in my BA!!!
I will report bugs as I see them.
Bugs so far:
*Having a way to close the program would be nice
*jpeg support (of course you already know that
*zoom
*directory support would be a nice feature
*transition could be a little smoother, but I guess it might have to do with the fact that I am running from the SD card.
Other than that, keep it up!!!!!!!!! Great Job!!!!!!!

As indicated above, I forgot to add jpeg support while compiling QT. For demo purposes this isn't such a big problem, and it actually is quite useful for testing. Anyone who wants to use this method will just have to compile QT with jpeg support. Or do on the fly conversion, I think QT has a method for this, but I'm not sure.

place the complete pictureflo folder in your programfiles folder "programmabestanden" and then copy some files: PNG, BMP, XBM etc (see first post for suported files) into the pictureflo folder and start the .exe

.gif version?
Could you please convert these png's to .gif? Most of the ROMs I use have SPB cooked in and they want the file in .gif. I opened your png file in GIMP and converted it to .gif, but for some reason the "8,5,2,.,9" keys don't work. This happens on more than one device with more than one attempt at the conversion.

I think that's is because GIMP re-indexes the file, messing up the colours of the far right section (which are used to define the buttons).

I think you are right, but when I look at both png and gif files in GIMP the colors that define the key look to be the same. Interlace will not work. Any other idea? Does photoshop do this different?

Check that the yellow strip at the top of the far-right image is RGB 249,248,16. If that is wrong, they are all likely to be wrong, inwhich case you've found your problem!
still no luck...
Tried to open a new file and copy the png image. Still didn't work as GIMP wanted to do the same indexing as it did when I converted from png to gif.
I have attached both the orriginal png and the gif file that I am having problems with. I even tried a copy color and bucket fill on a couple keys to see if they looked the same but were slightly off - that didn't work.
I have the gif format Files ready and for download added
I hope it works for you now

Thanks for the boot sound and gif. Side note I was not aware of. Can't place these on the storage card. Probably most people knew this already...this is the first time I changed my EnergyRom settings. Easy fix...threw them in the windows folder.
Wish the .gif wasn't 'squished'. Resolution on the phone probably makes a better animation quite hard?
I have been messing with cropping the video to make it look better, ill post a better gif later

How about some movie splash screens, like MGM or New Line or something like that, you know how the screens from the begining of a movie.
I thought i'd start a topic about loading up the Desire ROM on the Nexus One. I'm sure i'm not the only one that'll be doing it!
Main topic is here, but my findings so far (updated)...
- If you rebuild the boot image replacing the kernel it runs. I'm running my own custom kernel with himem and bits.
- The system.img doesn't fit on the N1 (!), it's nearly 200MB. I booted by moving some stuff off the system partition.
Working
- Trackball
- 4 bottom keys
- Proximity sensor
- LED
- Light sensor
- Compass and G sensor
- Flash 10.1
- WiFi
- Bluetooth
- Mic and noise cancellation
Not working
- 800x480 is max res for video recording, camera maxes out at 3MP, flash doesn't fire (early camera app, fixed in later builds)
- FM radio
- There are frequent graphical glitches - this could be related to the watermark code or an early build issue, investigating
More to follow!

Did you create the png's yourself? Reason I ask is I am looking for some help. I have a load of jpegs I need to convert to make a boot animation. Although I got it working once, the quality was not what I wanted so I recreated all the JPEGS (stripped from an avi) and I haven't managed to convert them into anything that works since.
Currently they are 24bit Jpegs. I only get the infamous blank screen when I use the bootanimation.zip and I cannot fix it.
Thing is I have managed to get bootanimations working from scratch before aand for the life of me cannot figure this out.
I have tried so many different combinations of programmes, I can't even count them anymore.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
