Hello guys,
I used to be a proud owner of an HTC HD, which I recently sold, and now I am wondering what to buy next. The next phone I would like to own is a phone running Android and I know that HTC HD2 is capable of that. What my question is, if there is a significant difference in the performance between same hardware Android phones and the Android on HTC HD2. In other words, is it worth buying the HTC HD2 for use as an Android phone, or should I pay a little more money and buy a Desire for example. I would also like to know if 3D games are playable on Android on the HTC HD2 (as they werent on the HD, lagged like hell). Thanks in advance
Don't buy an HD2, buy an android phone instead.

well you will probably end up rooting any phone you get anyway apparently. Games have been flawless on my HD2, including a pretty heavy game like heavy gunner 3d. not 1 single bit of lag. But unless you can find an hd2 dirt cheap I'd get the new nexus s
I have also one more question. What is the progress of the Android on the HTC HD2. I know that it is not a ROM yet, is it like the one on the HTC HD (running Haret and its on the SD card) or is it something better? I read of some "Android Builds" but I don't really know the difference. Also will there ever be a Android ROM for the HD2 ?
my advice is if you have money to invest, buy either Desire HD or Nexus S. As much as smooth android runs on HD2, it is still can't be compared to a native android phone, the biggest problem being the battery drain. in standby it is alright, but when you use it it drains a lot.
I use Android on the HD2 because it's the one Tmo USA 3G capable phones hardware that I like that runs Android. I have/had Samsung Vibrant and prefer the HD2 hardware. I'm not a fan of the bulky G2. I like the 4.3" screen, and will not go back to using anything less than 4". I have not tried a MyTouch 4G because it doesn't offer anything compelling to draw me away from the HD2. But I have android running perfectly on my HD2, and it did take a bit of tinkering to get it running the way I want (Some SD cards work better than others, getting the build running, etc). Day to day it's every bit as good (and faster) than my Vibrant. There are a few minor quirks. Like having to unmount the card to install come applications from the marketplace. But, other than boot time there really isn't much advantage going to a phone that comes with Android.

It's nowhere near completion and I dont think it'll ever will. Even the blackstone like u said (which has been out for what 2yrs now?) still can't run android natively so you can kiss goodbye the possibility of android running on NAND anywhere in the distant future. It's a nice novelty idea to play around with if you already have an HD2 or familiar with the constant struggle that current developers are facing, but for everyday use, I'd say you're better off getting a pure android phone...much more efficient than what the HD2 can deliver on crutches.
Yeah, if you want to run android, you'll be better off getting a native android phone. Why buy a phone to run a port of android when you can get a phone that was made to run it.
Now if you also want to run winmo and don't mind putting in a lot of time testing out different android builds and working out bugs and quirks of a ported android, then the hd2 is a good phone... but don't expect it to run as well as a native android phone.

Yes it's taking time because there has been lot's of updates in android going on... and the developers has to keep up with those updates , hence it seems endless... but still HD2 is hell lot of device. and it can't be compared to native android devices....

I think you missed the whole point of what was said...
Well actually, the only thing I'd like to use Android for is the Games. I'm okay with using WinMo the other time (for browsing the net, watching movies. etc.). So I guess thats possible. Also why not buy an Android phone you ask? Well, cause the 4.3 inch Android phones are a hell of a lot more expensive. And one more thing, the HTC HD Blackstone didn't get a full Android ROM because all of the developers migrated to the HTC HD2 Leo.

So basically the only thing going for you are the 4.3in screen and the fact that it's cheaper than android phones in that price range? I don't know about a 4.3in but most samsung galaxy S line are about $150 with a 2yr contract and you can probably find an X10 for pennies. Unless you REALLLYYY want to dual boot winmo and android, I don't see why anyone would waste their time, money and energy and would get the HD2 just for running android to play games...don't you think that's a little ass-backward? Why would anyone want a winmo phone, running haret on SD card, booting android...just to play android games? hahaha

If you want android for gaming, I would get something from the Samsung galaxy line... it has a much better gpu, which isn't currently being taken advantage of by apps and games, but since Google's new development phone, the nexus s, is basicly a galaxy phone and has same chipset, future development and games will surely take advantage of it. Basicly, android developers and Google are going to use the nexus s as the standard to develop for like they currently use the nexus one... so many more games will be designed based around the chipset the nexus s and all the galaxy s line of phones use.

I can find one reason. HD2 i very good phone, but if i would like to get just phone i would use Nokia E51 or something similar... I like to play with my device, its kind of toy and HD2 has excellent dev community. Going back to original question. If you want just working device with Android buy something with Android installed natively, but if you don't mind or, like me, like playing with your phone HD2 is very good choice.
Well, I never use WinMo any more.
Android has everything I need.
And it is fast and I seldom experience bugs.
The only real downside is that you really have to be a power user. I spent a lot of hours updating and tweaking. But, then again, I love that
I agree that the HD2 is a nice device. The build quality is extraordinary.
I have had a look at both Desire HD and HD7 -- none of them have as good build quality. Samsung and SE always felt plastic-ish.
If you get a HD2 cheap today - sure, try it out.
But if I were to buy a new phone today - I would probably buy a native Android.
Alright so I thought id give my two cents. I've owned a nexus one and a galaxy s as far as Android phones go. I went back to the hd2 for a couple of reasons. First off, its a lot cheaper than any other phone with comparable hardware. Look on Craigslist Nd you can find a new hd2 for like $200. I like the screen better than the samoled

Didn't finish, lol. Anyways, the amoled screens aren't as clear as the lcd on the hd2. The colors and contrast of the amoled screens were amazing but I didn't like how you could see pixels. Second, the hd2 has so many roms, even more than the nexus one. And finally, from my experience, the hd2 has been a lot faster than either of those phones. I'm running a desire hd Rom and the quadrant score is higher than either of the phones I mentioned, even after I modded them. Last thing ill say is battery life is definitely not a big problem. Id get about 1 hour more with the nexus one or galaxy than my hd2 with Android. I can easily go 10+ hours on pretty heavy use. Turn internet off and you can go way way longer. So battery life with Android running off an SD card is fine. Oh last thing, changing builds is so easy, just copy a new build on your phone and that's it. So get an hd2. Won't regret it.

Posted a topic on which phone was the most hackable one? I got nexus one as the answer but i am seeing so much development on HD2 (WP7, android, meego, ubuntu) and it seems to me that this is actually the best hackable phone right now??? or i am missing a point?
i am mainly interested in android and maybe WP7...
so questions:
how well does android 2.2/2.3 runs on HD2? in terms of overall performance for web browsing (slow? saw a vid on youtube that scrolling and zooming lags a bit), apps/games compatibility (e.g. do some games lag?)
same for WP7
and most important question for me : does flash 10.1 works on android for HD2? (already posted a topic on http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=914547: so you can answer on the thread instead)

the new superRAM (SD) and NAND builds are just like a normal android phone. everything works perfect. i'm using android on hd2 since many months, never used winmo 6.5 anymore. absolutely no issues. trying wp7 now, i guess i'll go back to android (android = open system, much more better than iphone like restrictions)

The higher quality Android roms run just as well as a native android phone...I'd say it runs better than most un-rooted, native android phones actually. Flash works on Android.
The older builds lagged and had problems, but the super ram builds and NAND builds ran very quickly and smoothly on my TMOUSA HD2.
As far as WP7 goes, the HD2 is buttery smooth and runs like a native WP7 phone. I'm impressed with it.
Obviously, running hacked ROMS, there are always little nuances and caveats you have to deal with that you wouldn't have to on a phone that natively runs WP7 or Android, but having the choice of running so many different OS's makes it very much worthwhile. The ability to load WP7 from ram and Android from SD card is a big plus. The thought of one day being able to dual boot both OS's is an even bigger plus.
The Nexus one runs Android only. The HD2 runs WM6.5, Android, WP7, and Ubuntu. No brainer there.
The HD2 is the first phone that I actually liked more over time

seriously lmao, dude there is absolutley no contest, and im not just saying because im a HD2 user im saying it because its a fact, The HD2 is THE most versatile phone/ppc there is for MANY reasons.
If you enjou tinkering with phone, trying different OS's and great phone specs at same time then there is no other choice then the HD2, simple as that.

You dont run WP7 from RAM you run it from NAND.
I would add that if at all possible one should attempt to get a leo1024 instead of the 512 model, you'll find those to be the most versatile of the two. Top of the top in hackability afaik.

So that i can geta good idea of the performance, as compared to the htc desire, how well does android 2.2 perform on HD2? ( equal, little less or quite a big gap in performance)?
Short answer: yes, HD2 is the most hackable and customizable phone ever. There is no second device like HD2 on which you can choose between 3 (or maybe even 4) fully working mobile OSes and few ports of PC OS's (old Windows 95/98 and Ubuntu)!

+1 here,oh Meego aswell soon.maybe even windows XP one day The possibilitys with this thing are so unreal,its ridiculous.I think it will be a while before we get anougher device like it that can do all this stuff.Yeah if you can,Get a TMOUS HD2,Our Euro units struggle a bit on internal Mem,Were still having to use sd and partition them so we have enough space,Wonder What phone all the devs will be going to for the next big major Crack like this,HD7 perhaps
HD2 is usefull mobile device that I very like it.
It's very very very nice for me.
Also XDA devices are nice as I used before since : hx2750 ---> xda Atom Exec ---> hw6965 ---> HD2
Nexus one can also run ubuntu. But so can the hd2 lol

unfortunately, i will be able to get only the 512mb version of HD2.. can you do dual boot (android and wp7) on it? can't i save and run my android apps on sd? (apart from additional storage, the 2 models are identical right(512 vs 1024): i mean i can install same custom roms, hacks etc.. right?)
This is the only phone with this much hacking potential/ability. Makes me glad I bought it, even at full price.

I can't speak for the Desire, as it isn't available where I am locally, but around here, everyone who isn't using an iPhone seems to be using an HTC EVO. In terms of performance, the HD2 running the more recent Android ROMS performs just as well, if not better, than a stock EVO.
There's also a video out there with an HD2 running WP7 side by side a stock WP7 phone, and the HD2 was actually faster than the stock WP7 phone.
That being said, if you're intention is to stick with Android, then get an Android phone. The beauty of the HD2 is the ability to run multiple OS's, and hopefully one day dual-boot any combination of OS's. But a stock Android phone will certainly have fewer quirks and tweaks to worry about to run perfectly. Owning an HD2 and keeping up with all of the developments really is a it of a commitment.

credit should be given to dev like cotulla, DFT, all in htc-linux team that make it possible.

Most are hackable, but only the HD2 is able to run this many OS's.
Most phone are only able to run hacked versions of its native OS.

ok thx! i wanna use android as my main os and then WP7 as secondary for fun and testing ... like the idea to be able to install multiple os... always like to use the full potential of a device... this is what i did with my psp (with homebrew: vnc, better mp3 player, retrogaming emulation) and my wii (homebrew: media player center, vnc, retrogaming emulation) that's so much more fun!

I've had my HD2 since September 2009 and I have had an amazing time tinkering with it. I've run Gingerbread on it and am running WP7 right now (stuck at the Live Services verification). Having said all this, I am beginning to wonder which phone will be the next "most hackable phone". Which phone will the likes of Cotulla turn their attention to next?
4 weeks ago and 1 year into my 24 month Orange contract, I was ready to sell my HD2 (Eur 512mb) and buy myself out of my contract so I could get a phone based on android simply because I was soooo bored with winmo 6.5
By chance I stumbled across xda devs and saw it was possible to run android from SD card and dual boot it with winmo.....I was overjoyed! a couple of weeks later NAND flashes became available and I was amazed at the fluidity of it running on my HD2 (Eur 512mb)....that made me even happier. I'm so glad I kept my phone, I saved myself a packet all thanks XDA and the band of devs. HD2 FTW

I know this question was probably asked here lots of times,
and I apologize in advance, because I still haven't found the answer to my question
I have an option to buy a practically mint condition HD2 from a friend (he got a Desire HD, lucky him, I don't the money), he can sell it to me cheaper.
He says he installed Android on it, but as an app, (I still have no idea what ROMs, Flashing and all that means) not as a self loading OS, and the phone is still running WM.
So the question being, is it really worth my while getting the phone, fiddling around with it, installing Android and/or WP7 (I heard that's possible) and losing on battery time?
Is the battery time the only problem affecting daily usage?
How difficult/risky is it to install android/wp7 on the HD2?
Or should I just get a simple android phone (desire, legend, wildfire etc...)?
The HD2 is a beast of a device, and as long as you read, flashing isn't really all that hard at all. May I suggest my guide in my signature?
The HD2 can indeed run Android and WP7 directly from NAND, and most Android builds on the HD2 are actually faster than "real" decicated Android devices.

I'm a little reluctant to reply but I'll give it a go.
It's not difficult to flash a ROM but before you do anything you MUST READ THOROUGHLY about whatever it is that you are doing.
Firstly, it is possible to put Android onto an SD card and run it without making any changes to your phone. You have to boot into Win Mo then switch Android. When you re-boot the phone it will boot back to Win Mo. This is what this whole section of this forum is about. http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=735
If you want to change your phone permanently then you have to flash a ROM and it is the slightly risky element. READ all the ROM flashing guides here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=713977
You can also Flash Android to your phone so that it replaces Win Mo. This is what this whole section of this forum is about. http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=928
To put Win Phone 7 or Win Mobile 6.5 on your phone you have to flash it like an Android NAND ROM.
If you can buy it cheap, then yes go for it.
It's highly addictive and most of all very impressive device.
I wouldn't say that the battery is still an issue now since it lasts at least a full day and USB to charge is everywhere nowadays.
Like Bouncypete wrote you will have to read alot on the go.
The safest bet is to use the standard WinMo and start Android from the SD-card.
If you like that you can always go to a Nand version which replaces the actually WinMo version inside the HD2.
You can always go back to WinMO incase you don't like Android (or WP7) or warranty purposes.
Most Nand and probably other SD versions have a good tutorial in the thread itself on how to get it on the device, or there are the stickies.
We are also not un-human so if you need something do a search, read, read again and then ask. No person will shoot you if you have searched and don't know what to do.
Now if you don't like the HD2 you can probably resell it for the same price you bought it for.

For anybody who wants anything just a bit more than a phone/media player, windows mobile still has the the largest and most flexible range of apps with the most options. I'm booting winmo 6.5 with Android 2.2 running from sd and there's nothing I see on the market at the moment which could begin to tempt me away from it. Indeed, the range of free and custom apps is what keeps me on WM. I have several preferred applications that I use. And I like the fact that there is (was) such a large developer community for the device. It encouraged innovation. I think there is less such activity when one is forced to deal with an "App" store that is monitored by the OS manufacturer.

Just make sure that you are indeed getting it for "cheap".
While the HD2 is a great device, it does not change the hard reality that it is an antique by today's tech standards.
You need to know how long your friend has owned the device, how much calls has been made on it.
I ask this because the longer he has owned the device, the greater your risk of having the physical buttons eventually fail on you. As much as I love my HD2, I am aware that the buttons will eventually fail. Please consider this.

just my 2c as the guyz above have given you tremendous input.
I have an option to buy a practically mint condition HD2 from a friend (he got a Desire HD, lucky him, I don't the money), he can sell it to me cheaper.
-> just check how "mint" the condition is. screen scratches, button usage (are they still springy or dull), etc.
He says he installed Android on it, but as an app, (I still have no idea what ROMs, Flashing and all that means) not as a self loading OS, and the phone is still running WM.
-> android is installed in the microsd of the phone. the hd2 is essentially still running windows 6.5 but you can launch android and use this as your os. the advantage being is if android crashes...and that's IF given the stability of the roms developed by the rom-Gods here....your phone is still fine as it was originally in windows. if you want to get android up and running again, you simply have to reformat your microsd and reinstall a new android build
So the question being, is it really worth my while getting the phone, fiddling around with it, installing Android and/or WP7 (I heard that's possible) and losing on battery time?
Is the battery time the only problem affecting daily usage?
-> battery life will probably be your first problem as you get into android. but as you go along, i would recommend that you "sample" the other roms and find out which one gives you the optimal results. the way you set up your phone is also vital. as i mentioned in another thread regarding battery usage, i'm quite pleased with my current set up. i normally unplug my unit from charging at around 10pm. in the morning when i get up, the battery shows 97% remaining. not bad considering that was an 8-hour standby and i'm also using live video wallpaper. again, it'll depend on the set up
How difficult/risky is it to install android/wp7 on the HD2?
-> installing android is EASY as everything is in the microsd. if you want to boot up via android then as the chaps recommended, you have to do further reading.
to answer your question, i would say yes it's worth getting the phone. the hd2 is an awesome device. it's a great way to get started if you want to have android or wm7 or other operating systems
some things to consider if you do decide to get the phone:
-upgrading the rom itself (the windows rom)
-upgrading the radio
although not essential to run android, upgrading these will definitely give you better stability when running the os. again, the guides are all there and the chaps are happy to help out.
With reading, the HD2 can be a very fun device. But if you have the mentality of unwilling to search, read, try out, then I'd say you should stay away from this phone. The HD2's isn't marketed to people who want something that just works, it's marketed to people who like to tweak, tinker, play around with or hack their phones.
So if you're unwilling to go read, understand, etc and just want something that works "perfect" out of the box, then I suggest you get a WP7 phone or iPhone.

You touched a nerve there, I'm currently using (or better say, being abused by) a Nokia 5800 with the latest firmware, and just 10 minutes ago, during a call it just froze up, wouldn't let me close the call, so I restarted it, and it took 3 minutes to connect to the network, what the hey?!
on one hand I love twinkering, but as long as stuff works, and gets better,
not twinkering for basic usability, which is kinda what's in store for me if take the HD2

New ones are between 450 and 500 on ebay. Used ones generally go around $300 - 350.
But be careful of those cheaper "New" ones on ebay: many of them are in fact replacement phones sent by the carrier as warranty fixes - and my be refurbished, not actually new.

Asking price on CL here in the Bay Area is generally $200-$300.
I picked a pretty clean used one up Saturday for $150.
Got it running the unofficial CM7 nightlys now.
Bit of a learning curve but not bad.
I hadn't really touched anything but Nokia devices for several years.

The HD2 running WinMo has been VERY stable and useful for me regardless of all the crap people say about WinMO. To me it sounds like the HD2 would be a good choice for you as you can tweak WinMo as much as you like and have Andriod on SD and play with that as well.
If you like to explore and tinker, then feel free to get this fun device. It can entertain you in many ways.

So I'm using an SD Android, with some sense features, dunno what it's called. But it's a bit sluggish and the screen freezes up from time to time, used a more stockish SD Android before, worked better though
But the battery times are lousy, after 4-5 hours with WiFi on, without 3g (no dim inside) I have to recharge it,

I've owned a number of devices over the last 8+years and the HD2 is the best so far.
I dropped my HD2 last year and had the option to sell the insurance replacement or keep it. I kept it.
I probably won't upgrade from my HD2 until there is a dual core phone on the market with both cores running at 1 Gig.
RAM ? I have plenty on the HD2, make it a LOT faster and I'll upgrade.
ROM ? Ditto.
Micro SD expansion ? Again, haven't used the whole 16Gb I have on this device.
What else is there ? Retina type display like on the iPhone (spit) ? Yes please.
HDMI Out ? I don't use HD content in that way preferring VLC or DLNA
Android ? Already doable but Android is still in beta, too, and it's still a bit rubbish
Is the HD2 worth it ? For me, the HD2 is the first fully converged device I've had and
it does everything I need it to do reliably, in a decently sized package without fuss.

If you're browsing the web, you can expect that amount of battery usage, especially if you're watch videos.
With normal use, and I mean say just about 2-4 hrs of on screen time, and the rest stanby, you can expect the battery to last two days.

terms ROM ( which can either be WM6.5, WM7 or Android)
HSPL ( a secondary boot-loader that should be flashed first to safeguards us noobs bricking our phones)
RADIO ( the software that talks to the hardware )
KERNEL ( don't know what this does as yet or how to upgrade it)
I bought mine only two weeks ago...
1. i read alot....from the HTC leo section
2. I flashed first MAGLDR v1.13 (HSPL) to safeguard against any major mishaps

I am gonna buy a windows mobile for my sister on her birthday next Month. She always wanted to buy a windows phone which is fast and stable. The looks of the xperia x1 and HD 2 amazed her.
I wanted your help to choose the best of the two. I know hd2 is superior in specs.
Are there many roms for the hd2?
What might be the future of the device?

before you get lots of 'are you serious? can you not see??' type replies, , look around the forum, its the most hacked phone around. winmo android, wp7, dualboot, nand android, sd android, ubuntu, win95, they all work on hd2.
roms, there are loads, what do you want? winmo 6.5, winmo 6.5.5, win phone 7, android eclaire, froyo, gingerbread, have one android on nand another on sd card if you want, run win phone 7 fron nand and dual boot it with sd card android, loooads of options, tehre isnt another phone about with as much choice. (You only have to compare teh number of sub foryums the hd2 has.)
As for the future, it has no future. It is the last of a dying breed. From here on out the phones will be a little less hackable. Thats not to say they wont be hacked, far from it im sure, but the choice of what you run on it is likely to be more limited, and you are unlikely to see a phone that is so easy to switch between OS's for some time.
I for one will by buying up two or three hd2's in the next few months, shoudl last me a year or three.

Yes ibhad checked out the forum and I was pretty amazed with the amount of hacking that has been done on this phone.the reason why I am attracted to this device is that it supports or rather runs many popular platforms. I saw a couple of video reviews from phone dog, they say that the device freezes many times! My x10 used to lag but now I have tweaked it, it runs silky smooth. So are there methods to remove the freeze issue?

hd2 can run ubuntu meego android windows mobile win phone 7 believe it or not even full version of windows 98/me its got a snapdragon 1ghz processor its soooo customizable from boot screens to roms its just a better deal and now you can pick one up on craigslist for under 200 ive seen as low as 150 hd2 is the way to go
I think the biggest thing to consider is how your sister will be able to use the HD2.
Look at what she uses now, and how that is different from the HD2, how tech knowledgeable is she.
Is she interested in changing the ROM? Will she be able to do that? Will you do that for her?
My niece had a Wm6.x phone, but never truly used it to even a fraction of its abilities, and always had problems with it. [Now she has a Blackberry, and is doing great.]

Lol its not an issue. She uses the xperia x10 mini. She got quite bored if the form factor and all. I help her installing roms so that isn't an issue. She is pretty tech savy thanks for your suggestion and reply bro! I will definitely go ahead with this device! !! Thanks once again

Recently I built a Windows Home Server 2011 box and it allows media streaming with server side transcoding to a Windows Phone 7. I've never used a WP7 device before, but would like to try it out. I've seen info about being able to dual boot an HD2 with Android and WP7. That would be awesome as I am a big Android user right now on my Vibrant. At about $150 on ebay, would anyone recommend the HD2 to test out WP7? For about the same price I can get an HD7, but lose the Android ability. How well do both OS's work on this phone? Thanks
The HD2 is an amazing phone and both OS's work great on it. I would get the HD2 again if I had the spare money but I'm satisfied with my G2x.

HD2 is really the best phone which I have ever used. No one can convience to step over to another phone.
HD2, the ever green smart phone, is still the best. Not only 2 operating system option but also 5 more...and each of them work great impeccable.
But you should have this in mind that this phone is getting old and although we still benefit from the latest updates in android and WP7 but some major things like display quality or perhaps hardware capabilities may tight our developing.
Anyway, If I had any choices undoubtedly I would bought HD2 again and again. How many phones can you name that now can run ICS? None of previous heros except HD2, The LEO.

Apart from Android emerging from beta to almost there and the want dual core shifting to want quad core, no change.
The HD2 is still doing it, in spades.
It's a classic. When I do eventually upgrade and buy an HTC Humdinger™ it will have at least 4 cores running at 1 gig with at least 2GB DDR RAM
Until then I'll keep my HD2. Even then, I'll keep my HD2.

Are you referring to Android for this phone?
I'm really leaning towards selling off some of my older electronics to cover the cost for one of these phones. Then I can test out WP7 and whatever other OS I can put on there. I'll still keep my Vibrant, as I know I do still really like Android and having a built for Android device is good to keep around. Based on the comments on this thread, $150 seems worth it.
That being said, does anyone think there will be another phone in the future that is similar to this? Will there ever be another phone that so many OS'es will be developed for? I've never seen this in a phone before and I wonder if it will ever happen again.

Certainly. It's already being built.
One manufacturer will make a well specified device, using the right chips, which all operating systems can talk to,
which a lot of developers will notice, which will be priced right, which will take the market by storm, which will go
EXTRA LARGE on XDA developers and will lead to another HD2 like device only faster. Much MUCH faster
As you point out, the HD2 does pretty much everything, very well, right now and it has done for years.
All that's left is CPU and network speed increases and the ability to switch between operating systems on the fly.
Quad cores, lots of RAM .. any reason why two or three operating systems can't be run simultaneously ?
Wouldn't it be nice to switch between Linux, Android and a Windows 6.5 / 7.0 hybrid like you switch between apps ?
Keep all those familiar legacy apps and selectively take advantage of all the new apps ?
