[Q] which SMS Application? - XPERIA X8 General

Which sms apk you have on X8?
handcent sms, go sms or other?

The stock one it haz everything I need

chompsms. has the possibility to send cheaper sms for me

Stock one.

I don't wrote messages on the phone, but if I need using stock one.

handcent sms is good - when the SMS comes into my Xperia, this one shows mesage text almost on the whole screen area
Sorry for bad english, but the app is really great!

I think , Handcent is very better than the default SMS manager of the x8 , I like it's pop up window which I can reply very fast

Handcent, way better than stock imo.

I've used handcent since I bought the x8 but recently I've found out GO SMS smarter and lighter than handcent

Stock one rocks

Threaded SMS on Niki

Hi!
I'm looking for a threaded SMS app for my Niki that:
- Integrates in the messaging interface (so not messasing in contacts)
- Shows the new message arrival on the screen (replacing the default notify)
- Works with Dutch T9
- Without upgrading to a WM6.1 rom
Any suggestions ? I know that the Palm Threaded SMS app does most of the things, except a good notify / count on the homescreen....
Xivius
I use the lord smiff threaded sms cab - this usses the t-mobile uk settings if you need this you can get it here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=1309352- if not you can search for a suitable one,
Vito SMS Chat?
Vito does not support Dutch T9 ... doesnt it ?
Im testing the Vito SMS chat now and I love it, there are a few problems thouh.
1.) Does not work with the slide out keypad
2.) Does not work with the software touch keypad
So I use the software touch keyboard, so its a two handed job all the time.
3.) It moves all the SMS to a different folder.
So vito needs to work on these three things.
and if they can add:
-SMS Predefined groups.
I tried lord smiff threaded sms and it rocks. . But I no programs I know of backup the text messages
the 1.2 version of sms-chat works with the keyboard AND T9
I'm hoping they incorporate MMS into it soon as well
Thanks for bringing this back up.
When you say keyboard, do you mean the slide out touchpad?
Now I remember why I uninstalled it, as of now im testing pocketCM which also has threaded SMS
yeah the hardware keyboard and software touch keyboard both work perfectly well on my sms-chat and im using t9 as well
my sms-chat is version 1.02.
I just uninstalled pocketCM after a few hours, still buggy.
When Vito has the options to view calls and MMS together with SMS then ill get itfor sure, till then, it back to stock aps for me
where can i get the threaded sms cab??? please
read the first page of this thread...the link is on it!
but if you still cant see it:

Have you seen Extreme Text from Birdsoft? Check it out here. I use it on my Kaiser and really like it. It doesn't need WM6.1. It has a better looking interface even than @M6.1 Threaded Messaging.
A New Text Message box pops up when a message arrives, but I think it's the standard box. If you ignore it, it goes away - then just open Extreme Text and the message is there. But the message is also in the standard inbox, so you can access it through Arcsoft messaging as well, and you don't have to worry about backing up a separate set of files.
I don't know why it wouldn't work with any language T9 - it doesn't demand any certain keyboard. I just used it with Touch Diamond keyboard, no problem.

text messaging application?

Hi,
I've just flashed into a Korean ROM and this firmware has some wierd SMS thing.
One thing that I most hate about this SMS thing is that there is no option of selecting SMS under contacts.
I think the original SMS application on X1i is alot better.
Does anyone know if there are other SMS applications or is there a way to install the native SMS?
Please help.. Thanks.

Why chompsms e.g. and not the default sms application?

I see many people use chompsms and handcent application on their Hero. Why? I have downloaded the chompsms to try it out, but I had to check both applications to remove the "new message" notification in the status bar.
What is the advantage of applications like chompsms?
I can't say anything about ChompSMS or Handcent, because I don't use SMS enough to worry about using something "better" than the default app.
However, your first point was that you had to clear two notifications - in the settings for the standard SMS app, you can switch off notifications so presumably this is what you should do if you want to use another app for SMS.
Regards,
Dave
It used to be on the CDMA Hero, that the default messaging app was buggy and drained our batteries severely. Anymore, it's a preference thing. Some of them have more features, a different look, etc.
For me, handcent has the advantage of a nice popup option built in and the ability to automatically resize pictures for MMS.
I use handcent sms because of the many settings-options you have and because of the blacklist function!
Standard app was just too.. standard
just installed Handscent sms, it looks identical to iPhone sms, lol.
SMS Popup is the best one I've tried.
I found the Handcent UI options weren't as sleek as the default app.
Was running handcent but when in landscape mode it crashes so switched to chompsms no more issues
i know i was reading it somewhere, but when installing a 2nd sms application like handscent or chomp, dual notifications occur.. is there way to remove that?
Go to defualt messages app. hit menu turn off notifcations.

Tried that and it doesn't work. I get both the Handcent and the envelope icon. It is getting annoying.

Receiving SMS fro my Samsung Galaxy S

Good day everyone! i have a issue regarding receiving SMSmassages on my unit...The factory default SMS application had limited sending capabilities (when after reaching 80kb, message becomes MMS), so i downloaded Handcent SMS messenger. Its works fine,m but the problem is I receive 2x messages from the original SMS messenger and the new downloaded Handcent application, so I have to read twice the same message everytime someone sends me SMS. My question is, how can i make Hancent my default SMS messanger? Or, how can I make it that I receive 1 message feom Hancent application only? I know someone out there with great knowledge of these problem is out there, hpe you can help me! thanx!
Handcent tells you waht to do for notifications, read it and follow the directions not that hard. Go into factory SMS, settings, notifications UN CHECK It, not that hard. READ.

SMS Limit

I used TiBa to move over my SMS logs from my Captivate but it seems that the text app wont load because ive run out of memory. When i look in settings>memory, it shows over 10 GB free. any ideas how to fix this?
looks like the max SMS history is 999 messages, any way to circumvent?
i'm having the same problem..i want to save all of my sms messages but it limited to 999. is there anyway to fix that? either apps or hack?
I use sms backup... Saves a copy of all sms messages to gmail... Easily grouped in conversation mode...no reason to keep them all on your phone anymore...
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
Legitimately curious question, but would you ever need/want to go beyond 999 SMS?
I'll bet other sms apps like handcent will work great
