Hello everyone!
Just wanted to show my depreciation of samsung products over the past few months...
It's the 4th GT-I9000M I get since august (in fact first exchange was done in october)
I got the phone 45 minutes ago by mail, it was probably a refurb (of course it was...). Inserted my sim inside (Phone was already unlocked as I didn't have to do it)....
Then I've started installing my apps and stuff than phone froze.....
Rebooted and.....

This is completely retarded.....aren't they testing the phone before shipping it to customers?
How could this be possible....
I don't know what to do between throwing the phone on the wall, crying, don't think about it and use an other phone or call them back.....maybe all of this once at a time.....
What enrage me the most is that currently there is absolutely no solutions to Dead Memory for the GT-I9000M.......I saw some for GT-I9000, tried it for my older buggy GT-I9000M but didn't get anything better thand "can't mount...."

This is not the failed internal SD card error. I'm assuming this happened when you tried to flash a JP? rom with repartition checked in odin....
Flash the phone back to JH2 and then flash back to whatever 2.2 rom you were trying WITHOUT repartition rechecked.

This happened to me in my earlier days of SGS flashing (albeit with the standard UK I9000) but my phone is fine now, you should be fine just flashing older firmware via Odin as quoted above.
Don't worry - all is not lost

correct that is just a corrupted internal SD partition message
it can be fixed, but flashing back to JH2 or JM8
then flash back to JL2

Can't comment on the other queries but if you want to install SpeedMod kernel then make sure the Voodoo lagfix is disabled (do this by going into recovery and lagfix options) and then flash SpeedMod with ClockworkMod recovery

Bell's UGJL2 rom has an updated bootloader that supposedly fixes the internal SD failures. This bootloader has compatibility issues with the 2.1 firmwares. There is a full version of JH2 going around that includes the old bootloader, but must be installed with the "Phone Bootloader Update" option checked in Odin. This will allow you to go back to 2.1
However, since you are aiming for a 2.2 rom, I suggest sticking with JL2, Flashing a custom Kernel that includes clockworkmod (ex. Speedmod or Voodoo) and installing Darky's with clockwork.

I'm now using Speedmod Kernel (the on that just got released today loll) so I can flash with this one.
I think before messing up again with everything i'll just let it like it is with speedmod (that claim to help the battery, increase speed, and have BLN enabled)....
Darky release rom so fast anyway loll that even i i install it today next week there gonna be 2-3 new relase loll
soooooooooooooo happy to get back my android device.....was using my old BB 9000 for a week.....needed a little more speed
Nice work Teranox.

It's bad enough you probably lie to Samsung/Bell about the situation surrounding the death of your phone, but lying to us here is sick.
Looks like your the one who actually messed up the phone on the first, second and third time. Conisder your self lucky that you still got a replacement.. Technically flashing those kernels and non samsung official release is already voiding your warranty.
It's one of the advantage of being a Samsung Mob!lers ;-) but the first one really died while never customised it. Second one same thing third one 3 days after normal.use under darky rom 7 with lagfix.
The one is just got (the fourth) crashed because i was not informed about the re-partion check/uncheck difference with the last firmware from bell.
Anyway, stock rom with speedmod is perfect from me since it is fast without lag and bln enabled. Will see in the coming weeks if Darky release something tempting enough to flash loll

Hi,
I wanted to try the Roto JME firmware, and I flashed it using the instructions at the dev forum. It seemed to work nice. Now I want to get back to stock firmware, and I am having a lot of trouble doing it.
I tried downloading the stock ROM at the sticky thread in the dev forum and decrypt it. It is not possible for me, I have tried four different computers with both Win XP and Win 7. All I get is "System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x80040154)".
Anyhow, I downloaded the file already decrypted at the first post in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=881952&highlight=Official+ROMs.
I extracted the zip-file and in Odin v.1.70, I selected PDA = JME.tar which I got from the zip-file. I did not select re-partition. Odin says PASS! but the galaxy tab goes to a screen with a triangle with a exclamation mark in it, and it says "E:Can't mount /dev/block/stl10
(invalid argument)
E:copy_dbdata_media:Can't mount DBDATA:
your storage is not prepared yet, please use UI menu for format and reboot actions.
copy default media content failed. "
I tried the reboot option. The screen says "SAMSUNG" and nothing happens. I don't dare try the other options.
Please help, I don't know what to do!
Sounds like the internal sd is corrupted. Try a factory reset in recovery
Sent from my GT-P1000 using XDA App
That did not work. It still just shows the Samsung logo, it waits some time and then it vibrates, and it seems it does some kind of new boot atempt.
Please help!
No one can help me?
Please.
I think you need to get a copy of dbdata.rfs.tar and flash it using odin.
You can find a link to download it in the second post in this thred.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=875557
Thanks man, it worked!
Still not back to stock FW though. I wonder why no-one has written a howto on that.
No problem
I have been using jk5 firmware which allowed my at&t tab to make calls. However, I noticed after a while, that 90% of my use of the tab was wifi and certain apps would not download because the vendor thought my app was from a different country. None the less, I thought it was best for me to just return to the stock firmware. i called Samsung, told them I wanted stock firmware back on my tab, they gave me a prepaid ups label and I just shipped it off today for a 7 day turnaround.
What?! So you're saying there is no known procedure for getting back to stock, without calling samsung? This is ridiculous... So I have a tab wich is more or less ruined in regards to future official updates, i.e. Honeycomb and such?
I feel sad and fooled..
If you know what the original firmare was, you can download it at samfirmware.com
I think the rom you downloaded has the protected bootloader :-(
Doesn't restoring your rotobackup get back to stock?
Just have have to remove the root , unlock and any other changes after restore?
Can't you point me to a description on how to do that? I would be very grateful.
If you have a signed bootloader you cant go back to stock until the new fix is ready. Read all about it here

hello everyone..i have a problem which i hope someone can find a solution.
I had a Tab with the following FW: PDA: P1000XWJJ3-PHONE: P1000XXJID-CSC: P1000OXXJJ2
I just wanted to flash it with an arabic support fw, so i used P1000JVJJ1 with PIT 816, REPARTITION ENABLED in odin 3 (no phone or CSC selected). That was it, and the tab rebooted into recovery mode error: E: Cant't mount /dev/block/stl10 (Invalid argument)
E:copy_dbdata_media:Can't mount DBDATA
your storage not prepared yet. please use UI menu for format and reboot actions.
copy default media content failed.
so from here i tried to reboot...wipe data/factory reset, but nothing helps, it just boots till the samsung logo and then stuck with repetitive vibrations.
i also tried to flash back the P1000OXXJJ2 with no repartition enabled, but the same happened. finally i downloaded the P1000XWJJ3 from samfirmware thinking it might bring it back to original, but it was worst..Odin failed. Not to keep it in the worst condition, i reflashed it with P1000OXXJJ2, and now am back stuck at the samsung with vibrations. If anyone can help please. I dont care about P1000OXXJJ2 firmware to be installed. i just need the Tab to work again.
Thank You
If it boots at all, then it's not bricked.
Go get Rotohammers JMI firmware and flash that with the "add_hidden.pit" file as partition.
Credit to you for posting in the right section unlike most "my tab is bricked" posts which end up in the dev forum.
just to re-confirm what knightnz said, "if it boots at all, it's not bricked" ..and, i speak from the voice of experience. LOL ....and, hey, i'm not laughing at you, i'm just thinking back on the Days that i spent thinking mine was gone for sure.
just follow the directions given, and, you may/will be pleasantly surprised!
I did a similar thing, and Rotos files saved me. Just do what knightnz said to do, and you should be good to go. Besides, I am under the impression that the tab is very hard to brick. However, don't quote me on that.

It would be even harder, if tab has recovery partition like other android devices.. But we have no recovery partition as it is binded to kernel in Tab
thanks for your quick reply, really appreciate it. meanwhile, am downloading the Roto-JMI-Full-v2, but just a quick question, do i need to also flash the pda and modem or just the PDA is enough? note that in all my previous flashing i have not flashed the modem. Thanks again
Mission accomplished
Thanks a million guys, u were really helpful. I have flashed my tab with the JMI firmware alone and everything went fine except that the modem was not working (*#1234# Modem: Unknown), so i searched some forums and eventually i used the JME add-on modem which did the job.
so now ..for next time, if i needed to add some language support to my tab..how can i do that? Thank you all
Hey,
I have following problem:
Few days ago I bought a Samsung Galaxy S4 Lte (I9505 jfltexx). I wanted to root it and then flash CM onto it.
Rooting went fine but when I flashed CM it aborted with Error 7. After that it was soft bricked but i managed to flash the Stock Rom back and everything was fine again.
But today I tried it again but got following problem. CWM was gone and i had to reflash it. But then everytime I tried to get into recovery mode the phone freezed at the "Samsung Galaxy S4 I9505" Logo with the little blue "recovery booting" in the left upper corner. I tried to flash CWM and also twr but it did not help.
SO my final thought was flashing the stock rom again to at least have a working phone. But when I tried to flash the Stock Rom ODIN failed and my phone gave this error "SW REV. CHECK FAIL : fused:2, Binary: 1".
Then every time it started it booted into download mode and said "firmware upgrade encountered an issue. please select recovery mode in kies & try again". I googled how I can solve this and someone said that it has something to do with root. So again I flashed the CF auto root and thank god it booted up normally.
But now my problem: I have no root on my phone(superSu says that there are no SU-binarys), I can't update my stock-firmware because the software update says that my phone has been changed. What can I do to 1. gain root access again 2. flash a custom rom(best would be SlimBean)?
Hope you can help me

Ok, I'm just wandering what big difference it makes. What extra does it enable your phone to do? I mean it must be really good to run this risk.

First of all it's the principle that I don't want to have a phone where Samsung tells me what to do and what not. Then there are things like root which are necessary for me because I'm also using it to test my apps which require root access. And also of course apps from the play store which need it. I'm currently using Slimbean because there's no AOKP build for the I9505. It requires less space on the phone, it's heavily customizable and it has the look of vanilla android. And a huge portion of why I am doing this is just me being curious about such things.
In the end it worked and I learned very much new stuff.
Sry 4 bad english
Hey your English is very good mate. And I was just curious as to why you run the risk, thanks for explaining it to me. I rooted and put a new rom onto an orange san francisco (zte blade) once. But that was not an expensive phone. My wife would kill me if I messed up this s4 with almost 2 years of contract to go lol
Hello everyone, hope all is well.
I was trying to install a factory ROM for my Galaxy S7 Edge and during the process, I believe I went and flashed a wrong ROM file (I think it was Galaxy S6 Edge's).
Anyways, due to that, my phone is completely bricked (softbricked? because I can turn it on?).
The problem I'm having is that when I turn on the device normally, it will show the GALAXY S7 EDGE logo but then it'd go straight into recovery mode.
In the recovery mode, it'd say "dm-verity verification failed.. " , "E: failed to mount /system (Invalid argument)". Then when I press Apply update from ADB/SD Card, it gives an error saying "Update from external storage is disabled".
I am able to get into the download mode also and downloaded correct factory ROM and flashed it but it gives me an error saying "Odin protocol version error" in the phone, and in Odin, it stops at "Initializing..." and the program crashes after 5 minutes or so.
I there anything I can do to unbrick this dude? I've been searching all over the place yesterday and could't find a right solution for me so I decided to write one myself.
Thanks in advance and I'll appreciate any help.

First of all why were you trying to flash a stock Rom? Next its a piece of cake take it to your local warranty store and ask them to flash your stock ROM as long as you didn't try to root it they should fash it for you. I've done it many times. Just tell them you were charging it overnight and had it turned off and when you booted up the next morning it was going crazy.
As I said if you weren't trying to root they should do it for you.

Well now I couldn't flash any of the firmwares out there that I found. I kept on getting the same error stated above. It is usa at&t model.
Perhaps, is there a custom ROM and/or other steps you'd recommend me to try?
Thanks for your replies though, I appreciate it very much.

i am not a dev mate just learn from observation lol but from other devices i have seen them bricked if thats not been allowed in dev options but i am not 100% sure on this one service center is probs you best bet as some one said earlier as am sure if thats not checked nothing can be flashed as that command allows it its like the bootloader is still locked kind of thing
I would take it a service repair center before messing it up anymore, just to be on the safe side, you never know with these things, yeah it might be fixable but if knox isn't voided then you can just have it repaired properly for free.
