I'm trying to update ClockworkMod... - Fascinate General

Ok, so first of all I want to apologize, because I'm fairly new at this. And second off, I dont have enough posts yet to post in the Development forums.
I'm going along the lines of the "[RECOVERY] Updated ClockworkMod for all (non-voodoo) ROMs" thread, trying to update my phone, because somehow somewhere something got messed up. I finally got Odin to connect to the phone, I selected pda and the "cwm_froyo.tar" file, and pressed start. It took about 10 seconds, and said that it had passed and the phone turned off.
Then it booted into the blue recovery, and I selected apply update from sdcard. Phone kinda rebooted, then brought me back to the same recovery screen. I retried it one more time, then I saw the red recovery screen, but I'm not too sure what selection to make from here.
Am I going about this totally wrong, or somewhat right? I'm so confused with this all. My buddy that I worked with set up all this on my phone, and now that he no longer works with me, I'm trying to figure it out myself. I appreciate any help given, thank you!

Similar issue
I am having a similar
I can no longer boot to Green Recovery... everytime I select Update.zip, it reboots right back to Blue Recovery..
Anyone?

I cant even get my phone to boot into "Download" mode anymore. I'm afraid I did something and now I cant fix it myself.... Ugh

I was having this problem too, but I finally got it to work
Try leaving your battery out when you do it.
Also, try using a different USB port.

I'll try that, but I've done it a few times with no luck so far... But IF I do get it working, once it's in Downloading mode, I press start in Odin right? Then once it's passed what then?

Correct... Once you see the Yellow Triangle and it says Downloading, you should see in Odin a Yellow Box on the COM line.. SHowing you are connected,
Then, in the files area, select the CWM Tar file you want to install.. Make sure you select in in the PDA area...
Then press START

From Blue Recovery, you should select Update.zip...
That should bring you to Green Recovery

What does it mean when it won't boot green recovery? I'm having the same problem too.

There are 3 different color Recovery Screens
Blue
Green
Red (Voodoo)
As long as Ive been doing this (which is about 2 months), ive always booted to Blue, selected Apply update.zip and then it booted to Green.
From Green, you can then wipe your cache/stats etc.. and then install your custom ROM.
I decided to try installing EB01 Stock using the RED recovery and all seems to have worked fine... So, I guess green is no longer needed
If anyone has any additional comments, please help us out.

So from blue, I apply update from sd card, then it takes me into red... LOL I'm so lost

Ok, I'm still confused on where I should go from here
So let me start out from the beginning....
I'm running the latest Cwm, with Blackhole-4.01 . When I went to change the theme or anything on the rom, the phone reboots, verify package, then shows me the samsung screen, and from there it shows me the Blue Recovery.
So I was told to flash a custome recovery via odin from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=942021 . So I start my computer into Downloading mode, and flash cwm_froyo.tar
That then gives me
"<ID:0/011> Added!!

<ID:0/011> File analysis..

<ID:0/011> Completed..
<OSM> All threads completed. (succeed 1 / failed 0)
<ID:0/011> Removed!!"
and shuts off the phone.
So now I put the battery in, and turn on the phone and it reboots into blue recovery. From what I understand I'm suppose to apply sdcard:update.zip . From there it now shows me CwM Voodoo Lagfix Recovery v2.5.1.x Red. At the bottom of the screen it shows
"E:Missing bitmap progress_empty (Code -1)"
"E:Missing bitmap progress_fill (code -1)"
"CwM Voodoo Lagfix Recovery v2.5.1.x"
What do I do from here? Lol, or am I not even suppose to be in this screen. It seems I'm missing bits and pieces of the whole process

You can ignore the error message it does not affect recovery functions.
Choose the option you need and proceed as with green recovery.

From your previous post you have mentioned the error message associated
with the new red CWM, if you are able to get to that then you already have the updated recovery.

Ok, so why is it when I modify my rom, and the system reboots to apply the modification, does the phone reboot showing blue recovery. And when I actually get the phone booted back up, the changes were not made?

[50€ reward]!!! - SGS2 NOT flashable anymore

Hi guys.
After my first flash (with success) I had root and all was all right.
But now, I wanted to try litening ROM 2.0, I have to see, that I am not able to flash my device anymore. I tried with odin with 1- and 3-part firmwares,.. only Kernel,..tried with Heimdall, made factory resets thousand times.... after EVERY reboot my SGS2 is in the SAME state since before.
It is a state like I made a special recovery. Installed Apps (after first flash) were gone after every reboot. Token images, ... left....
What can I do now? There has to be a solution I hope ...!?

Hi,
what do u have on Odin display?
because, if you don't kill ALL Kies processes, it's impossible for Odin to connect to your device. (it was the case for me)
Try to kill it with your Windows task manager.
good luck.

I forgot to say that here in detail
Odin said PASS (in green) and before klicking start, the correct connection was signed with the yellow COM field.
There is no KIES problem, I killed all KIES processes in TaskManager before.
I discussed this in a lot of forms and nobody could help me yet.
There must be something in my configuration, that makes my SGS2 load a special recovery. (have NO titanium backup installed!!)

Does it boot? and which kernel/recovery do you have installed? which software were you running before you tried to flash to litening?
I had this problem going from villian to litening. I had to install official genertic samsung firmware to sort it out. After I did that I have had no problems with flashing roms.

Yes, it boots. But always into one same state.
I flashed it with XWKDD_insecure.tar (without repart and without PIT file) and then rooted it with "SuperOneKlick".
My Phoneinfo says:
Kernel_version: 2.6.35.7-I9100XWKDD-CL161513 [email protected]#2
Buildnr: GINGERBREAD.XWKE2
After it, cause I was very happy to have a rooted device, I installed AndroidWall, AdFree, AutoKillerMemory, NoLED and AutorunManager
that´s all I did. additionaly I tried to set up the UAString for the stock browser with commands like about:debug, about:config and about:useragent.
That´s all I can remember.
It looks like on the phone there is something, that ignores all flashed data on booting and loads a backup-state. whereever that could be loaded from .... .

No it loads what you have flashed last .
Use Odin and an stock rom KF3 with single part file flash without repartition or pit .
Then start again as your posts just show that you have flashed nothing at all .
That kernel is very very old .
Post where Odin fails and post phone details if it boots .
Follow lightning rom instructions fully .

I believe there's a link to the kernel in this thread

Not knowing WHAT you are flashing, makes it a little harder to determine what is going wrong.
Go HERE and flash this in Download Mode. This is the latest Stock 935A ROM, This will wipe Everything on the device, and it'll be like it came brand new

If you are currently on a ROM that has v4 boot loader's, part of your problem may be that you are trying to flash a rom with v2, v3 bootloaders

When you try to get the device into Recovery, it will appear like it isn't doing it or looks like an "No Command" error and it can take a couple of min to actually get into Recovery.
I would boot into Recovery again, let it sit for a few min. My bet is that it will eventually get into Recovery. Once it does, do a Factory reset, and then reboot into Download Mode, open Odin connect the device to your PC and install all 4 of the items from the Stock ROM thread, don't mess with any of the settings in Odin, just populate the slots with the BL, AP, CP and CSC

OK you got bootloader v2. Try to flash some older version of MM in download mode using odin
Like from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=67601581
From Edge of Galaxy Seven
You need to start by using the latest Odin, 3.12.3 for installing the original ROM. If you try to unlock, you need to go get the PrinceComsy version. PrinceComsy won't work for in-bricking a device, and if you have any of the stock versions of the ROM, you need the 3.12.3 version.

Any way I can get the phone usable again? I really would like if anyone could assist in get it working again. It does not need to be rooted, it only needs to boot and function
Mine did same thing. I fixed mine by doing a factory reset from recovery mode. Reboot the phone and hold power+volume up+home key at same time until u see recovery mode in top left corner. It will say installing system update then go to a menu. Hit volume down till factory reset is highlighted. Hit the power button. After its complete go to wipe cache and wipe it also. Then click reboot system now and should now boot fine

I think you have to Flash all 4 of the files, AP,BL, CP, CSC in Odin Latest version of stock is APK1
I flashed just this AP_G930AUCS4API2_CL8575098_QB10880146_REV02_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar in the AP section and my phone worked again. I don't know if that' might be bad thing or not though
I choose Phone Bootloader Update in Odin. It was the only thing that worked for me.

SM-T580, hopeless?

Hi everyone!
I hope I'm asking this in the right place. I think I may have really messed up my tablet. My apologies, this is going to be a long one.
After following some very bad advice I was using my SM-T580 8.1 (rooted with TWRP, Magisk and Manager) to explore Xposed. I now know Xposed + Samsung = bootloops. While trying to restore my poor little tablet I messed something up big time. When I tried to boot into recovery....it didn't work. So I booted into download mode and tried to flash stock firmware downloaded from Sammobile. While flashing with Odin 3.13.1, the connection was broken, my dog decided that it as the perfect moment for playtime. Now I can only boot into Odin mode and nothing else. To let it boot normally I get a bootloop with the Samsung Logo and the red warning "Could not boot into normal mode. Invalid Kernal length." Every time I try to flash the firmware I get "re-partition failed" error. I've tried two different PCs, 7 different USB cords, every USB port I have and stock firmware from 6.0 to 8.1. I've tried with and without the PIT file and tried checking/unchecking the repartition box in Odin's options. If I leave the repartition box empty is hangs on "setting up connection" and never moves past that. In the past week, I'm not sure how, I did get to the recovery menu. I cleared the cache and did a factory reset. It still went into the loop, so I tried recovery mode again and was able to look at the logs. I don't know why I looked because I really dont have any idea what they say. The only thing I did understand was that one of them said there was no recovery file. I assume this is a VERY bad thing. Since then I cant get back to it. Oh, depending on which USB port I plug into... sometimes the FRP is ON, with another port it is OFF. Don't know if that would help with a diagnosis. Sorry again for the long post, but I've tried to include as much information as possible. At this point is there any hope of fixing it?
Thank you in advance and a huge thanks for being my "go-to" since my SM-T530nu.

The Odin version of TWRP can be found here https://dl.twrp.me/gtaxlwifi/ When you flash it with Odin, be sure to go into options and uncheck "auto reboot". When it finishes, press and hold Home, Vol down and Power buttons till the screen goes black. Quickly shift from Vol down to Vol up buttons till the first screen appears. Keep holding Home and Vol up but release the power button. When the screen blanks you can release all the buttons and you should then be in the TWRP menu.

Are you using Home, Vol up and Power buttons to get to recovery? If that works, you can try Factory Reset from that menu. That should wipe the partitions so you can then go to download mode and flash with Odin. If not, then you'll have to try installing TWRP.
edit: If you can't get out of download mode, try the trick of Home, Vol down and Power till the screen blanks and quickly switching from Vol down to Vol up.

I have tried the Vol up + home + power to get to recovery without success. It happened once, days ago and I wiped the cache and tried a factory reset. It didnt work. I still get the bootloop with the Samsung logo and the Invalid Kernel length error at the top in red letters.
This afternoon I was able to download 3 different TWRP files for my device and tried to flash them. This time Odin stalled...
<OSM> Enter CS for MD5..
<OSM> Checking MD5.. Do not unplug the cable..

and it never moves any further.

I would suggest downloading the combination firmware and see if that can be flashed.
Also where did you obtain the PIT file and are you choosing repartition with the the PIT file loaded?

If the combination firmware is the BL, AP, CSC and Home CSC, it did not work. The only file I haven't tried to flash is the Home CSC because there aren't settings I was trying to keep. I got PIT file two ways. One was a download I found and another was by extracting it from the CSC file. I tried to compare them to the best of my ability and it seemed like they matched. I tried flashing with and without the repartition option. The only thing I haven't selected in the options is NAND erase.
I've tried
XAR-T580UEU1APF5
XAR-T580UEU4CRK5
XAR_T580XAR4CSC1
And GTAXLWIFI_EUR_OPEN.pit with all 3.

Ok. I'll try it now. Should I use the PIT file? Or any of the others? BL, CSC? And just to be sure the file you gave me the link to should be in the AP spot, right?
I found how I could attach pictures for you. There is one that shows Odin with the "Pass" 1 successful/0 Failed. That happened in the middle of all of this by chance. I don't know if that helps any (I doubt it). The same problem was happening before it and after.

I don't recognize the file you are using. The latest T580 stock ROM can be found here: https://www.sammobile.com/samsung/galaxy-tab-a-2016-101-wi-fi/firmware/SM-T580/
For the U.S. it is the one for Cellular South. It is a zip file that needs to be extracted. You only want to flash two of the four. The one starting with AP and the one starting with BP.
The Odin screen should look like the attached image before you click start. Don't change any of the default options.

I am a noob and I accidentally flashed the HOME_CSC file in the USERDATA section but every other file was in its place. Then after the successful flash, the phone restarted and entered a boot loop with the galaxy s7 and t-mobile logo. Also, I could't boot into recovery. It shows " recovery booting..." and stays there. After that, I tried to flash several different firmware versions but I always get errors like "fw ver check failed" and stops flashing. I only managed to reflash the first firmware again with success but the phone still doesn't boot. Does anyone know what is causing the problem? Am I using wrong firmware? can anyone help on this?

Oops! Very temperamental phone, the bootloader is locked.
You can only flash the same firmware that was on the device before you started but if not the latest G935T firmware should work.
p. s. Factory reset is an option in the settings menu, there's no need to flash new firmware.

I don't know what firmware the phone had installed before. What are my options now? I can't get into recovery menu, only download menu works. Tried already a bunch of different android 8.0 ROMs for g935t but Odin fails to install them. It only works with just one but it goes into boot loop.

If the phone is a T Mobile device you just need to install a T Mobile firmware from sammobile.
This is the latest for your device (and I'm assuming it is a G935 edge?)....
https://www.sammobile.com/samsung/g...e/SM-G935T/TMB/download/G935TUVSACSI1/297176/
Sammobile is a little slow for non premium members

Fail (auth) means your phone is not in download mode or the firmware file is not in the correct box in Odin.
I think you may be better reading a step by step guide on how to flash firmware.
If you manage to flash and get stuck in a bootloop do the following.
1. No matter what the phone is doing just press volume down+home+power (in that sequence)
2. When the screen goes black quickly move your finger to volume up while still pressing home + power. This will boot you into recovery menu.
3. Choose "wipe cache partition" then "reboot system now"
4. Allow phone to go through the first boot up, it could take 10 minutes just leave it until you get the welcome screen.

When I press volume down+home+power it gets me to a screen says "warning: a custom o/s can cause critical problems bla bla bla..." and underneath it shows these options: 1) Volume up: continue 2) Volume Down: Cancel (restart phone) 3) Home Button: Show Barcode. If I proceed with the 1st option it goes to download mode where I flash with odin. I tried also the combination volume up+home+power with the phone witched off and it shows the message "recovery booting..." on screen with blue text but then it shows the android icon and says" installing system update, then restarts and falls into boot loop again with the samsung logo.

Yes that's fine, just keep trying to get it into recovery, it can take a few attempts for recovery to boot successfully.
The locked bootloader models are a nightmare unfortunately but there's lots of info on the forum about all the different issues and how to resolve.
Sometimes the only solution is to try flash the firmware which was there before you did anything to it eventhough there is a newer version.

I tried a lot of times already but it finally gets to a point that says "no command" with the android icon on top and if I press some times the volume up/down or home it finally gives some error messages and stuck there. It seems to me that the recovery menu is missing completely for some reason and the second problem is I don't remember which firmware version it had exactly before my attempt to flash another.
Anyone? Do I need a pit file to fix this problem?
