that "E" your getting stands for "Edge" which is 2.5G, The "H" is "Hsdpa" which is 3.5G so, its better that your able to get that "H" then when it says "3G" and simple is run thru tmobile's towers but uses teh apn of "simple" a "simple" google search turned up this for the first result:http://androidforums.com/behold-2-s...265-behold-2-simple-mobile-apns-settings.html

Hi,
I am on contract with O2 in the UK and whenever I connect to mobile web, the connection is either Edge or GPRS. within the same city at work i get Edge and at home I get GPRS... Wondering if I can control the connection and specify which one to use..
I dont know much about which one is faster. Can someone please explain which is better and if there is a way to get the best connection rather than a random one...
I use Fring and although the clarity is super for international calls it does break a lot and I loose the voice...
thanks a lot...

You really want HSDPA or 3G. If you aren't seeing H or 3G on your phone anywhere you might want to give O2 a call to get a new SIM. Edge and GPRS are way slow.
if your sim is a few years old then you will need to get a new one for HSDPA etc.. also make sure that HSDPA is enabled on you phone in the settings or by using advanced config...
that answers it.. i need to call O2 to give me a new sim.... thanks for all your replies guys. much appreciated...
No probs... same thing happened with mine... even in the Middle of London I couldnt get H... now I get it in many places I didnt know I could... its awesome...!!

lol.. this has been asked numorous times.. H > 3G
3G = UMTS
H = HSDPA/HSPA
although for HSPA+ on the G2.. they should have an H+ icon.
go google it
Can not get an internet connection.
I am a T-Mobile US user and I booted Froyo Stone 3.2 on my HTC HD2 for the first time ever like two days ago, complete nooby here. Been searching the forums for advice. Was wondering what you did to get your internet connections.hope you can help. The Froyo Stone build is awsome.
Just settle up your APN and switch your Network Mode to GMS only from GSM/WCDMA auto. Beside sometimes you gotta unmount your SD card and mount it back when your signal drop or stop recieving. Shouldn't be no problem for you to get internet connection right away.
Thanks so much for the advice R3oDaWhOa I literally stayed up all night last night digging through the Froyo Stone 3.2 build thread and I finally come across the APN fix with a step by step walk through wish I could remember the name of the user That posted it so I could give him proper credit too. Thanks again though.

Hello guys,So im with three.uk they dont do LTE yet but they r about to roll it out very soon however they do DC-HSDPA and im in area where i should be getting it sadly im not getting it for some reason top of the screen shows only H+(mostly) sometimes H and 3G. If i go to connections->More Networks-> Mobile Networks -> Network mode i only get WCDMA/GSM(auto connect) or WCDMA only so this is what i get. I was reading that there is some problem with s4's shipped from korea and people advice to flash to unbranded stock well one was australian so i even flashed to australian firmware even to getman firmware so far no luck no lte in options not detecting DC-HSDPA just after flashing to getman/australian firmware i got an extra option in network mode and it is gsm only plus the other two i said before. So my question is how i could get this DC-HSDPA working and what indicator top of the screen will show instead of h+ will it show DC ? i was trying to find answers but no luck so far please help me outKind rengards Martin

Hi,
H+ will still display on your signal strength indicator, as DC-HSDPA is just a variant of the HSPA network system. to force the internet to always connect to a higher speed network set it to WCDMA Only.
There is no DC-HSDPA or HSDPA in the network selection, it is tied to the WCDMA system.

Root Explorer (or another), and go to data/property.
select persist.radio.lteon , edit it with a text editor and change the value from false to true.
Save changes, reboot and enjoy
bye to all.

If i go to connections->More Networks-> Mobile Networks -> Network mode i only get WCDMA/GSM(auto connect) or WCDMA only so this is what i get.

This isn't about 4G? It's about DC-HSDPA.

Hi
I've been trying for a while now to force 3g only on my device and by that I mean change HSDPA revision to disable H+.
On my research it seems you can accomplish this by the service menu but I constantly get invalid code errors with special/"secret" codes, only a few work like imei.
Is it possible to access the menu in a different way or maybe something I can change to force the phone on 3g only?
Thanks in advance and if you want to know my reason is because h+ its not good signal but 3g is always strong.

U can select in WCDMA ONLY From settings, now what understand from your question is u want 3G signals only, according to me its depends on area where u r, if 3G signals are available in area u r u will get 3G signals otherwise no.

Yes but WCDMA will still jump from 3g to h+ on my old nexus it at possible to disable the h+ and force the phone to lock on gsm-3g.
