There is HTC, the manufacturer. Perhaps they warrant the product?

Yes. You have a 1 yr mfg warranty from HTC. Just do not admit that "you broke it with software" -- rather, "it just stopped working". Call T-Mo and ask for a factory warranty replacement. You "may" get a refurb, but it will work, and for as new as the phone is I doubt there are many refurbs in circulation yet.

Inevitability

Well its happened i thought it was only a matter of time. Was using my sdcard to try and fix my friends G1, One of the files i was using was the HSPL for Dream. After a few days i thought "ill see if theres any cyanogenMOD uodates for my phone using the updater. It downloaded (sweet) thought cool ill apply update.zip......Only to find the updater DIDNT overwrite the update.zip currently on my SD now i have flashed my phone with the Dream HSPL.Bollocks 2 phones in les sthan 6 months, early 1000 GBP down the drain in total.
Has anyone found a fix for this bricking technique yet? I have noticed that my bricked Blackstone wont even charge but the magic will?
Hahahah fail! You have been so unlucky dude. Afaik, no method to unbrick from bad SPL yet. Just tell the store it died all of the sudden
tried ti call HTC Warranty hotline, no1 will answer! On the plus side spoken to orange and they offer emergency insurance! Means i can get my original (Blackstone) replaced. Gonna sell that bad boy and get a Hero i think lol that way i can leave it how god intended and still have a hero rom thanks for the reply though its always worth asking before you give up!
Just an update........
HTC Are aware i flashed an update from another site other than vodafone or HTC. Its costing me 11GBP to send it to them for repairs, I was curious if anyone had paid for the repair before? The lovely russian sounding lady on the phone said the motherboard will have turned off as a fail safe for "illegal" Software so will need replacing. I'm willing to pay up to 100GBP for a repair as the phone cost me triple that!
Oh and they did keep on asking where i downloaded the software asking "Was it from a forum for HTC Phones? Or a file hosting site?"
As i say has anyone had theyre broken one repaired?
HTC Called me today...........
Even though i had flashed the "Dream HSPL"AND had cyanogenmod rom on the phone my magic has been fixed! FREE OF CHARGE! delivery = free, repair = free oh how happy this makes me! On the ticket i said that "my automatic updates wouldnt work so i downloaded an update from a website" im sure i also said that i know i've voided my warranty rofl
Score! So no need for stock ROM anymore? (i saw you mention it in another thread), I should have one to post up soon.
Might I recommend this as your next phone?

EW go to a sprint store and check it out. Touch wiz is not worth it

i dont think there is one... and I dont think anyone wants it.
way to much trouble... with all the hardware differences that need to be reprogrammed.
ports to evo.. normally come from other htc phones with similar specs.
Trust me you don't want it, my gf has an Epic and hers has been stupid and buggy as hell since she was pushed Froyo. She won't let me root it and throw something else on it because she doesn't want to void her warranty lol

Try doing a factory reset/ data reset. My gf's Samsung transform had the same problems when they pushed froyo, now the phone works great, even the battery life improved

Yeah I tried that yesterday still happening unfortunately. Basically her top drag down for notifications doesnt work unless its in landscape mode and sometimes her touchscreen just totally stops working. I took her phone to the Sprint store yesterday and they wanted to put 2.1 back on it. I was like no this is supposed to have Froyo on it and its supposed to work. They said its a know issue and there fix is to put 2.1 back on it. I walked out.
That's funny because i've been having bluetooth issues as well as the touch buttons not working, they switched me out with 3 different epics and now I have an EVO on order. It should be here tomorrow. Samsung's support is HORRIBLE! PS: The Froyo build is horrible, if you want to see the difference in the Epic vs Evo, just look on the Epic forums for touchwiz and see if it'll run on the Evo but you're wasting your time, it sucks!

My sisters Atrix 4g was stolen?

My sister and I both have Atrix 4g's - and hers was stolen, but she didn't care too much because (being the spoilt little girl she is) already has an iPhone 4s not more than a week after getting it stolen...even after I told her it could be tracked.
She said if I could track the phone, I could have it - so I've been trying to track it via myMotoblur

This is all I ever get when I attempt to track it, I have the same phone and it always loads within 10 minutes.
I have a feeling it's off or something - what do you suggest I do?
Probably the thief didn't have a charger?
Hey, cool. Good luck!
Post everything that happens on here, if you don't mind. I'd be very interested in seeing how this turns out.

i'm pretty sure it's off until he sells it and the new owner turns it on.
What if they did a factory reset? Would that clear the blur account? I always used lookout or seek droid so idk... can blur track other means than the blur account being on the phone?
Sent from my MB860 using xda premium
A factory reset will make it impossible to track as it wipes the blur info.

I downloaded androidlost on mine.. its awesome..
If its lost/stole I can take pics with both cameras.. record sound off the mix.. make the alarm go off.. get the last 10 texts sent.. wipe phone.. ton of other stuff..
Since she already has a new phone on that line the SIM is now burned, which means no go on looking for it even with something like lookout installed.

Well an imei search by carriers or the police can find it, you just need the receipt with the imei on it. At least that is possible here in Europe.

It's possible in the states too, if you know what hurdles to go over and which hoops to go through. Very low on the priority list here.
Sent from my MB860 using xda premium
if you dont do it within the first 24 hours, its probably wiped.
you could also try the app, Plan B - it uses the OTA app install to installer and get gps coords of your phone:

I bet she just wanted an phone.. I bet its sitting in her drawer with the battery pulled. .. lol
A girl had her phone stolen at my work, she contacted Verizon and had them track down the phone. The person who stole it was caught and charged, she got her phone back. Its all about how you talk to the cs rep.

flashing kernel to go back to stock

so i flashed the stock kernel because im going to the sprint store today. i figured since the most recent kernel blocks root and a custom recovery, i figured id just flash it and see what happened rather than odin stock. i was on stock build with nubernel v1 with clockwork 3.1.0.1.
soooo anyway, i did a back up, then flashed the kernel with clockwork. low and behold clockwork is gone, but im still have the "reboot in recovery" option when i hold the power button frome the old kernel. im also still ad free as i havent removed that app and superuser yet.
just thought it was strange.
game on.

Who gets warranties on smart phones these days? I paid the $8/mo to Sprint for their warranty plan for two years for basically nothing. Unless you're a clutz (which we all can be at times, sh*t does happen), most people I would like to think that hang around XDA take care of their phones like they are newborn babies (that is, we'll hold them ever so gently but will throw them in a fighter jet traveling 1000000mph).
In any event OP, I would guess the problem is with your digitizer, since that is what makes the magic happen and produce our images. You could try taking your phone apart to see if by some miracle the ribbon was knocked loose. Otherwise, might need a new digitizer.
