Hello,
I am a software/web developer. Lately I had an idea to make an interface for easy CWM Rom Modifications. Basically like online rom editor.
The program flow is simple.
1. You upload zip rom from your computer, link or choose one from server.
2. You modify basic rom features. Possible functions (some):
add/remove/replace apps
custom launchers
build.prop editor
add/remove/replace fixes/updates
3. Once done you can download, get qr code, share, upload to rapidshare, megaupload, etc
I can make such thing in a week and ready to use. Questions is, would anyone use it?
Personally I can find it useful for me because i switch roms daily and i prefer launcherpro instead of stock, custom wallapepers, etc etc. So instead of installing each rom and modifying it locally you could do it with few clicks from your browser, even possibly from phone itself.
But once again, does that sound something that you would find useful?

It's a great idea dude! I'm a web designer/dev too. Anyway love the idea, this will open up the possibilities of trying new roms every time.
I'd too use it.
It's the idea, I was dreaming of.
Best of luck !
HECK YES
oh boy yes totally yes.
this type of app would help immensly to any1 who wishes to barebone there favourite rom.
help us in keeping our cwm smaller ie 5/150/10 etc.
mod roms to our taste.
cut out fonts we dont want.
apps we dont want or use.
ringtones, alarm sounds, notifications, system sounds etc we dont want or need.
insert our own apps.
hell yes brilliant idea hope that you do create and bring this project to fruition.
A++++++++++++ on idea and creation.

I like the idea, however, with ROM dev's in mind, i would not make it so one can share the ROM they uploaded. I would make it so the person who uploaded the ROM they can then download it after their modifications were made. I just know that some ROM devs wouldnt appreciate their work being passed on and shared without their approval, a lot of devs dont like mirrors being created and even though the user modifies the ROM, its still not their work since the code is the developers. But yes i would like something like this. i already have a batch file set up that just adds the things i want.

would it be possible to have a rom based on t-mobile US BUT without any programs in it. so just the OS n sense only? so it's gonna be fully customizable..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=628948
download it
load into it your base rom (2.13 for instance)
untick the progs you dont want from the ext section
build and flash it
done! Take you about half an hour to an hour.
wow....
thanks.... if i use it is there an option to modify stuffs in it? for example.... boot screen, themes n stuffs? i mean will i get like full access to modify it?
not point and click, no, theres nothing available like that, but yes you can add all your tweaks and such directly by editing the files directly.
have a play, you don't have to flash it, just have a look around the folders and you will see everything that is on your phone will be there so you can for example replace all the icons with your own.
best way is to have a look.

I have been searching but can't quite find any ROM that is simply Stock (all apps installed, etc.) that has been De-Odexed. Maybe I'm spelling it wrong in the search bar or perhaps I'm using the wrong terminology but I couldn't find one.
Move, delete or chastise if you feel this is the incorrect location or I'm repeating a request for something that I couldn't find.
Thank you.
I think this would be good to have too, I couldn't find it anywhere either.
This would be nice for me as well. I believe you have to have a deodexed ROM in order to install themes and certain other things. I don't need or want an all-inclusive ROM - if I want to remove system apps, install other apps, or make other changes, I prefer to do those things myself.
I would love this as well.
So during the time was ban on XDA for flaming Noob. I have had the time to take a rom of my liking and personalize it to what I believe to be the perfect rom, well for me at least. Now that have everything all together I want to share my creation with the world and Good people here on XDA. But I have no idea how to make everything in to a DOT .zip file. I need help and I was wondering if anyone would care to help me.
What will be included in the rom:
GB launcher2
Galaxy tab TWlauncher clone
OC 1.2ghz Kernel w/ universal lagfixes
Gingerbread style theme w/ a little color
GPS fix
swype
Gb keyboard w/ working vibration and sound
boot-animation.zip
Avatar Movie app
Sims3 app and sims3.apk
Rom manager
Xda app
Root explorer
Superuser
New market app
Android 2.2.1
and more.....
This rom will be a mix of Eugene and masters roms so all thank goes to them and a couple other people on the forum.
Thank You

Hi. I think you'll find a lot of support on XDA for building your own ROM and/or for theming. You've covered a lot of different areas in terms of what you want to do. I have a few recommendations.
1. Do a quick search, either here or in Google, on how to build Android ROMs. There's a lot of good information out there and some of it might resonate with you in terms of how they explain things. That said, if all you're doing is changing a few files around; files you already have, then you would simply add them to, or replace the existing ones from a ROM you like. Just be sure to connect with the developers of that ROM so you can give credit where credit is due. Or, you could start with the Stock ROM and do it that way. But, in either case, you would be essentially using WinZip or some similar app to build the .zip file as you'd like to see it.
2. Consider hooking up with one of the existing developers and start making contributions to their work. That would give you a chance to work with some of the best people who are already doing what you want to do. I think in that case, it wouldn't take too long for you to come up to speed on who they've approached things. Also, this helps you from making some novice mistakes that I'm sure they've made along the way.
Lastly, consider the "value add" of your ROM over those that are already available. If you build something and no one has heard of you and then they don't see your ROM as having anything better or different to offer, then people might not want to use it. For example, Team Whiskey has Obsidian. Then they released Onyx. However, Onyx was materially different than Obsidian in that they removed a lot of the TouchWiz based theming and T-Mobile applications. So, a lot of people saw value in that.
Anyway, good luck. I'm sure you'll have a lot of fun!
This thing sounds quite nice! Would you be interested in posting the 2.2.1 build you got your hands on and the GB KB with Vibration? I haven't seen either of those elsewhere.

First, google WINRAR and download it.
Then select all your files, right click and click ARCHIVE and then choose location, name, and wait until its done, and it'll be in a .zip.
Root Explorer is not a free app, so you may want to reconsider adding that as part of your ROM.

The 1.1 Stable Download is available in Rom Manager now with limited options. I will be adding more as I find the time to.
Well, after many hours of trial and error, testing, and confusion I'm very proud to present the first open beta for Blackhole Build-Your-Own Rom on the HTC Thunderbolt.
Standard disclaimer:
While no Custom Rom can ever claim to be completely safe, and the very act of rooting your phone voids your warranty, I do my best to make sure that any Rom I release is fully tested. That said, if something does go wrong I am not responsible for loss of time/money/data/sanity/limbs/life that results directly or indirectly from the use of this Rom. Please enjoy responsibly.
Changelog:
Based on the latest RUU leak (1.13.605.7)

Because I cannot test everything I rely on you guys to report any issues you have. Please be specific, let me know what triggers the issue, if you find a workaround, the specific error message you get (if any) and all the detail you can provide.
DATA WIPE IS STRONGLY RECOMMENDED BUT NOT REQUIRED

Visit Androiddoes for FAQ's, a list of the latest Rom Manager updates and the official error reporting thread. Also you can find info on how to get early access to the Rom if interested.
Great! So all of this will be linked to Rom Manager? Meaning, we get the ROM there as well as choose what will go on it and then flash? Or, do we grab the ROM from a link provided, and use Rom Manager to personalize it?
Also, is the kernel going to be a separate flash based on our needs or will you include one (or some choices) in the Rom?
Thanks for your work!

The Rom will be in Rom Manager as well, so you'll select the Rom option, and it will give you a bunch of different lists to choose one or more options from, such as:
Music - Stock or AOSP player
Browser - Stock or choice of market browsers
Launcher - Sense, LauncherPro, ADW, GoLauncher, etc.
Stock apps - Add back any removed apps you may want
Theme - Select from available themes (added with permission of creators)
Kernel - Pick the kernel you want with the Rom (added with permission)
Mods - choose which mods are preinstalled
(These are just examples and may not be available right away, or ever)
Blackhole aims to be an all in one experience.
I also try to make it easy to try different things and modify the Rom after it's installed. Every option that you can choose when you flash the Rom for the first time can be chosen later to change things up. These options even work on most other roms too.
Thank you for your question, I apologize if I've been a bit too long winded.
Nice. I already see you in rom manager. Looking forward to try it when rom manager access complete. Thanks.
loved blackhole on the fascinate.. can't wait
So just going through the motions in Rom Manager I can see that this thing has great potential. Was this made originally for Galaxy phones? Seems to be a lot of options for Touchwiz and de-binged apps? Is there or will there be options for sense items. I personally like using sense just all the verizon stuff de-bloated.. I know it is work in progress and looks great. This weekend when I have time I will give it all a go and see how it runs..
Can't wait to see how this grows. Will be a nice option for people that I know that are not really good at setting up custom looks on their phones. Reminds me of Adamz Smoked Glass on the D1 back in the day when he made setup files in recovery to choose what you wanted.. Again awesome work..

Yes the rom was made for the Verizon Samsung Fascinate first, and I'm using that manifest to work in the Thunderbolt options more easily.
I plan to have all of the Stock apps including sense, widgets, themes, wallpapers, etc. available eventually.
I actually took my inspiration for this rom from the Droidmod installer from my D1. When I upgraded I saw there was nothing like that for the fascinate and decided to make it myself. It just kinda caught on from there.
I loved your Blackhole rom on the Fascinate. Its great to see you put one together for the T-Bolt!

If anybody tried to download from rom manager, I had some issues with my manifest, it's fixed now, so if you get an error just exit Rom Manager and try again, It'll start from where you left off.

That's the right size, so it's not an incomplete download. Try flashing the Stock Dexodexed build and then install Blackhole from Rom Manager.

Hello everyone! First of all Thank you for being here to help me. Secondly I need your help in making a new ROM based on stock ASUS ROM. As you know there are already 2-3 stock based ROMs out there, what's different here. So here's the different I want to make. Let me first tell you that I'm a newbie here and never tried my hands on making a new ROM but I know the flashing, etc. methods. Here are the features:
Would be stock 3.24.40.87 based.
No ASUS app except Launcher, Camera SystemUI and Framework, just Google's default apps (like Google calendar, Gmail, Gallery/Photos, etc. Means users can just download GAPPS and flash).
No extra bloatware. (I want it like CM13, just stock apps and user's choice GAPPS)
Network Speed Indicator (like in other stock based roms).
Xposed flashable (I'd include the like for users.
Kernel with Double Tap To Wake support (you tell me which is best and don't have that reboot bug on log calls).
No Mods or anything.
I'd like to name it "Blank" ROM.
So, I'm completely newbie here, no coding knowledge except web dev. I don't know anything about ROM building, as I said before. Now you've to tell me:
Where and how to start?
Any Development Environment required or not, if yes then what is it?
How to get going?
Links or threads where I can find relevant info or Mods.
If you think this is too much and a newbie won't be able to handle such work, and you can do this yourself, you're welcome to use this idea make make the ROM!
