So I installed dl30 on my fathers fascinate. Everything works fine aside from he is getting a double notification icon for sms/mms messages. One is white and looks like an envelope and the other is the normal smiley face word bubble. I've gone through every facet of notifications and settings with adw and phone settings as well as trying to figure out if it is a program but no dice..the only way I can get around this is to turn off sms/mms notifications in messaging settings but that leaves him with the white icon and the goal is to have only the smiley word bubble.
Anyone have any ideas?

I know that however that isn't the case this time. Also I select that icon in the notification list and it takes me to messages.

Does he have an email set up as a contact?
You're not alone. I also get double notification. One is the normal sms/mms notification icon and the other is a white envelope. Not sure what it could be. It actually happened to me before DL30. Let me know if you figure it out...

White envelope is google voice. disable notifications in google voice.

Ok i've noticed that ever since i turned the phone on the (new voicemail) notification is on in the status bar. when i click on it it dials the voicemail but i have nothing in my inbox. The notification continues to stay in the status bar and i have done multiple resets already. any ideas guys?
I think it has something to do with visual voicemail. I know the problems is also on the HD2. Do you ever get text messages that have "129" on them?

Hmm i dont think i ever had a text like that. but i sent myself a voicemessage just to see if that would clear it up but instead i got a email, the visual voice mail notification, AND the regular "dial voice mail" notification and the "dial voice mail" is the one thats been stuck there.
HI i justed returned a iphone to get driod x. i was wondering if there was a way to get number notification on the message icon on the main screen. lets say it had 2 messages , it would have a little number 2 next to the icon.
I believe Handcent does this.
I have these on my xdandroid (froyo) tp2 with launcherpro, from homescreen press menu, den preferences and dock settings. Then check the boxes under 'dock notifications' heading which enable new email/sms and missd call notifications.
thank you handcent does do it. do u know any app that would do it for email and voicemail.
AnderWebs released an app today called ADWNotifier that does exactly what you're asking for. You have to be using ADWLauncher, and it only supports SMS, Gmail, and Missed Calls at the moment, but more development is planned!
I use to use 'SMS Popup' to have a popup box for txt messages where I could quick reply or dismiss messages. With all 2.2 roms it seems that this programs 'close' button no longer marks messages as read. Anyone have a favorite SMS addon that has a popup box with quick reply and dismiss kind of features?
I don't like Chomp or Handcent. I'd prefer something that doesn't take over the native messaging app but is just the pop up stuff.
Anyone use one successfully with our beloved Epics?
the close button marks read for me
Try "SMS Notifier".

somewhat related, if you use launcher pro, there are dock notifications you can use and assign to a swipe gesture on your dock icons. (menu, pref, dock settings, dock notifications; then long press dock icon, swipe gesture action)

Try Go SMS on froyo, I started using it and it works great. Also has the pop ups where you can respond
thx, will give it a shot. I actually tried SMS notifier and that didn't clear them either. I'm 100% sure I turned off the native messaging notification too. Maybe this is one of those weird glitchies that a wipe and flash takes care of? Trying Go SMS now... thx.
just noticed something weird and maybe it's a bug of sorts. When I text myself from an email account (which is how I've been testing) it doesn't seem to work. but when I text from a cell I think it works. Oh well, I'll either follow up with a dev or not : )
I am gettin this notification for txt and new emails even when i turn off ALL txt notifications does anyone know what app is causing this?
how did you get the Cyanogen symbol as your button in the launcher?

Looks like the stock messaging app notification. Disable from settings in the app.

That's the stock sense SMS icon. Did you do a full wipe????

Check your handcent notifications. I think it has an option to use that icon for messages.
Also, when you pull down the notification bar, and select that message, what happens? It should take you to the app causing the notification.

Hi. I'm using superclean 2.4 voodoo and am using Google Voice for voicemail. I turned off the text notification option in its settings, but I still get text/transcripts every time I get a voicemail and it's extremely annoying for me. I just want a regular voicemail notification icon in the notification bar and that's it. Am I doing something wrong or is this a bug? Thanks in advance.
I believe I figured it out. Regardless of what the app settings are, it was turned on within Google Voice on the website for my account under Settings/Voicemail tab under "Voicemail Notifications" where it was checked on. I still believe the app is buggy since even when I delete voicemails via the app, say in the Spam folder or Trash folder, they don't go away - I have to login to the website to do that. So just a heads up for anyone who runs into any these problems.
