hello, im new with android, someone could help me with this.
i just do restore with 2.2.1 CM Floyo v0.9. it was awesome.
my question is, how to get camera work on 2.2.1 CM Floyo v0.9?
i have do the "system" restore on xrecovery (advance restore > "my backup" > /system ), but seems my android wont start, stuck at sony logos.
restore back with my earlier backup
is my method to restore right?
please guide me, sorry for my bad english. thanks
You need to do a full restore for the first time you install CM Floyo from racht.
You have to wait for racht to make the camera work. It's in bug list.
i see, so, what does it mean "backup/restore and restore only /system partition"?
not to make the camera works in 2.2?
First time, "Backup and Restore". Any times after that, "restore only /system"
No you cannot make camera work for now. Wait for him.
"If upgrading from old Floyo to newer, do custom backup/restore and restore only /system partition, all your data will be preserved."
Were you running Eclair before? If so, you must install with full backup. Camera isn't fixed yet.

Yes the recommendation for flash Liberated FR008 is to do a Wipe Data from ClockworkMod before flashing.
You should sync all of your contacts to Gmail using your Google account to preserve them and since you are rooted, you can use Titanium Backup or My Backup Root to save your apps, setting and messages.
Can I flash without wiping data, as the tutorial only says its especially reccomended if im coming from another ROM.
Currently I only have to stock at&T Rom (with some at&t apps removed) installed on my phone

You are coming from a Android 2.1 ROM and flashing an Android 2.2 ROM, so it is a different ROM. This is not a ROM that was made from a 2.1 to 2.2 OTA, so I think the best thing would be to do a rooted backup and then wipe before you flash. I would make a good nandroid backup using ClockworkMod before you flash, too.

A rooted backup would be to install Titanium Backup or My Backup Root to back up your apps, data and settings. You would install these from the Android Market after you have rooted your phone.

No, I suggest that you then backup your apps, data and settings using Titanium or My Backup and then wipe data as per the instructions for flashing.
Perhaps you need to look at this thread:

Yes, when you select the Nandroid option in ClockworkMod, there is a menu selection for both backup and restore. A nandroid backup is a complete backup of your phone that you can restore and go back to if you don't like the new ROM that you flashed. It will restore your phone to the exact point it was before you flashed.

Okay thanks I might try this after work.
Also, waht is the most stable release of Froyo (with HTC Sense) for the Aria?
I've heard that FR008 can have problems with the reception after a flash.
I guess i can always flash it and see what happens and then restore back if i dont like it.

I have not had any reception issues when I flashed Liberated FR008. It runs just fine for me. I have a WiFi connection both at home and at work, so I leave WiFi all the time and I am very pleased with the battery life.
ok any1 that can help me so that i can get all my games, apps and other stuff from 0.20 to 0.25 without installing them all over again?
This is what i did but it didnt work:
First i open recovery and restored floyo 0.25 then i did advance restore and restored system.
Was i supposed to restore data instead of system??
Actually it worked with restoring data.
U can delete this thread now.
You need to know, that if you restore ROM with x-recovery (not flash update.zip) all your data will be deleted, and to backup all your apps, you can use, for example, titanium backup
When you flash update.zip or any another .zip in xrecovery, all your data will be saved.

I got an old version of Argent2Stone (1.7 or 1.8, I think) on my phone. Do I need to do something specific or should I try to install as if my phone is on stock froyo?
Thanks!

copy zip from tezet`s site into sd card
go to recovery in bootmenu
make full backup (system, data, cache, boot and devtree)
double wipe (wipe cache and dalvik cache)
optionally wipe battery stats
Install zip from sdcard
I'll add this to the operations described by ZyrByt :
Do a full backup with CWM before flashing !
As CM9 is still in developpement, you can have annoying issues.
The backup give you a way of quick rollback to your old AgentStone.
EDIT : HOOOPS !! Too fast readoing... ZyrByt already said what to do with the backup sorry;..

You won't lose anything. Just make a CWM backup (as a failsafe, you shouldn't need it) then flash the new version over the old version. Don't do a wipe or anything like that, just flash it. After the update is completed, clear the cache partition (from the CWM menu) and the dalvik cache (in advanced in CWM) and reboot. First reboot may take some time but after that it should be as it was before, just with all of the updates to the ROM.
Just install new ROM
I have some situation like you have, Typhoon 3.7.0 update to 3.8.0! What I did is just pull the ROM to SD card, and then enter recovery choose " install a zip from sdcard" choose your files, and install and it just all set! Your personal data will not be delete!
i just installed this ROM from MIUI, didnt do task29, installed and wipe cache and dalvik.
i like this ROM but the Cynogen settings keeps giving me FC
anyone knows how to fix it without dong a wipe clean>?
also if i have to do task29 how to backup and restore my data? sorry noob here.

I don't quite understand your problem with Cyanogen settings, but to backup and restore just use the CWM backup. It will backup literally everything on your phone and any apps you have on your SD card. If you ONLY want to backup your app data and other data which you want to restore onto a different ROM, you can either:
1. Create a CWM backup and when restoring, go to advanced restore and restore data partition
2. Use Titanium Backup to backup apps, Super backup (I think that's what it's called at least) to backup contacts, SMS and call logs and (probably unnecessary but you might need it) APN backup & restore to backup your APN settings.

actually i want to ask,did i have to wipe all the data, cache partition or dalvik if i want to flash to wajk ui room (miui) from miui by sbasil .. it from the same miui base right? i don't know if gotta wipe or not?
Backup the data with MIUI Backup application and then install wajkui after do wipe data/factory set. If you install the WajkUI,restore the datas with MIUI Backup Application.

i have done what u've told, but after i restore all the system data, its seems that after unlock the lockscreen, the phone will boot, its kinda loop
Please have a look again the rom description... as far as I know Sbasil made 2 miui roms (32 & 35 based kernel). Later on he only supported the 32 kernel and left the last. The wajkui by forumber2 is based on 35 kernel, so you have to upgrade your phone first into official GB which has to the same kernel... just take a look at the list of u8800 thread in the development section

i'm using sbasil .35 now
When changing ROMs, I always use Titanium Backup Pro to backup and restore my data.
When changing your ROM, I always wipe my things. This way, I can make sure that there are no files left in my phone from the previous ROM. This prevents any problems with any ROM that is being flashed.
I hope I've helped.
thanks a lot for all the advice, now i can use it the rom!
