In some of the ROMs available for other phones, such as MIUI, and also on the iPhone, when you scroll and reach the end of a menu it bounces. Overall I prefer Android over the iPhone, but this is one simple feature which seems to make the whole experience more fluid.
Are there any ROMs for the Legend which allow this? If not, it is possible to achieve this on the Legend?
Here's a video to show you what I mean: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8fqO4GhawFA&feature=related
At about 0:17 we see someone scrolling in the settings menu and it bounces.
I believe Gingerbread has that feature, or at least something similar. So pretty much any ROM based on 2.3. I was using one for a bit called Lyka that I found in the ROM manager app. It was based on CyanogenMod, but it was running on 2.3 instead of 2.2.
Cyanogen should be coming out with CM7 fairly soon which, if I'm not mistaken, is based on 2.3.
All CM builds available for the Legend have this. It's called overscrolling. CMSettings --> Interface --> Overscroll weight

Really? I'd like to enable it but I can't find that option anywhere. CM Settings > User Interface doesn't have anything similar, and I can't find it in any of the other obvious places either. I'm running CM 6.1.0-RC1-Legend btw.

It looks like the new HTC sense is going to have pinch to zoom on homescreen and type recognition
That may be the official one, or it may be a custom built 2.1.
Pinch zoom is already available on custom built 2.1's e.g. Villian Rom which I would strongly recommend you try.
I use the pinch Zoom feature quite a lot (when I remember its there to use) and its a very nice addition.
Edit: I hope that's close to the final build it looks smooth and lagless
(the type feature is new to me )

probably from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=630479
obviously, it is a far much better leak than the ones our dev have here on xda or htcpedia...
first impressions:
1- this is the first 2.1 rom we see with the normal usual curved lockscreen.
2- not one FC even when setup is being done
3- was it me or did i see coloured icons in the menu settings?
4- best of all was the handwriting recognition...wow. didnt see this feature till now!!!
i guess this was a custom rom cause we can see the dev tools icon in the menu but imo this is so far the closest leak to the official rom i guess. hope our dev can get a hold on that one.
my build does the whole pinch to zoom thing on rosie
its pretty kool
the dump I compiled my build off of is old, I want a newer one!!!

Excatly! I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks this!!
Invicible had the same build (The leaked HTC Android Phone), the settings menu had those specific icons and this will probably be the next version of Rosie. (Expresso Rosie, could have just been a test or a alternative version coming for landscape devices)
Pardon my ignorance, but what is the dififference between sense and non sense builds? I'm not asking which is better. I've read more than enough opinions on that. I'm just wondering what the main differences are. I know that sense has some widgets that I like, like friendstream and the clock, but what else is there to this sense?

Quoting someone smarter than me: Sense builds are based on HTC Sense, they're a lot more compatible with our little babies and have some good eyecandy, but are kinda large and slugish for the taste of some ppl, in the other hand, CM or any other non sense builds are based on open source projects, they are less stable (but deff not worthless to give them a try) they are lighter and faster, specially Cyanogen Mod builds. My two cents: give them both (sense no sense) a try and stick it with the one u like more! But remember not only sense makes a diff, kernels, radios, and even installation alternatives (RAM, SD, NAND) make a huge diff...
I would search around youtube and look at the htc desire or evo videos as well as stock android. That will give you a good idea of the differences at least visually of how they are different.

The colors of the bars can be customized like the sense? And if yes, how?
Many thanks in advance.

Android Builds can be themed.
All of them.
You have to replace images in system-res.apk... (plenty of instructions around)
Sense however, already has a custom HTC theme (or more themes - if you think of newSense phones) and has some system apps replaced with HTC versions.
(Different Launcher + Scrollable Widgets, Different Facebook,Twitter,Contacts,Phone, camera etc... apps)...
It's pretty much like stock winmo 6.5 versus the sense version.
Sense looks pretty and has some additional useful features.
(like green glowing taskbar when in a call)
There are also other Android versions, for example MIUI, motorolas motoUI and samsungs TouchWiz... (and dell and lg and and and...)
I love Cyanogenmod, I love MIUI and I love Sense... I Might like TouchWiz aswell - but there are no ports avaliable for our phones

What do you want to see or not see in RoyalGinger V1.5?
Like I said in the actual RoyalGinger thread on the Development page we wanted to pull the community and see what you guys like and dont like and what you want to see and what you dont want to see. I know at least for me I might try other Roms especially for testing but I always come back to RoyalGinger, This little red head has in my opinion everything a Rom needs and everything a Rom user wants. So just to make it more of the Peoples Rom we wanted to see what you guys like and what you guys dont like.
So please keep it short and simple if you want to see a specific thing like a Theme or a Mod please include the link to the thread.
It will help us find what we are looking for and get to making your wishes happen. If you want something just let us know we will honestly try our hardest to meet every wish of the community for V1.5. If we dont get your idea into 1.5 I will let you know and let you know if it is possible and if it will be coming on a later release.
Thank You all for your support.

Yes, it is that one. No wonder the question has been asked a few times on the net (when I Googled) and no one seems to know.
Ok, no problem. There are a few other apps out there that are similar. But not quite. Thanks though.
Top request if at all possible would be the original camera. Picture quality is better and speed is wayyyy faster.
DSP Manager
Car Dock (even though it’s available as apks)
Genius Button (I personally like it)
Ability to mute camera sound

1. Ability to receive MMS view like on stock froyo.
I hit download, and it rarely works. Stock it normally already has picture showing, instead of hitting download.
2. A big pickup, although i don't think it is possible, would be to add date along with clock in status bar.
3. Calendar similar to stock calendar, which is default month view.
4. I love the themes with battery display % options.
BTW, you guys are most excellent!
royalknight, hope you gets to feeling better, brohim....
all in all, fantastic rom, but.... (and since you're asking), this is what i would like added:
(1) stock mt4g calendar (pink in color i believe) because there's more options than the one included with RG (ie. ability to have agenda view when executed). if it's tied to sense and can't be ported to RG, then no worries.
(2) use of the genius button with dragon dictation (already mentioned). i'm not sure if i'm the minority here, but i used that app a lot.
(3) desk dock/car dock (already mentioned).
(4) stock camera (already mentioned).
not sure if there's anything else that this rom needs as i'm sure the more you add, the better chance it will become slower...
The problem with the "stock" apps you are all referring to from the original rom, is that they require sense frameworks to function. Unless HTC open sources sense, we may never be able to make it happen. (doesn't mean we can't try )
I think this should stay as close to stock Google as possible.
By trying to add in all this sense stuff... why don't you guys just use a sense rom and install the gingerbread launcher. That's basically what you want this rom to be.
I enjoy this rom because of how minimal it is. Please keep sense junk out.

People's request in AOSP roms are always sense related add on's. Launcher pro has some good alternatives for sense widgets and so forth. But I agree, keep this rom bare and clean in AOSP standards. Although I would like it if you guys added Torch app back on
And I do have a question, I love the rover theme included, but I feel like that actual battery percentage decreases my battery life by a lot everytime I use that theme. Any way you can take out that battery percentage out in the middle of that circle?

The battery life decreases due to the broadcast message required every time it changes a percentage and has to call a new image to be displayed.

man bummer... i love that theme but thats a killer for me. anyway you knwo how to take it out?
A completely blacked out (inverted them would be really nice) Kind of like the the terminal settigns, but with maybe more feel and texture than those. I do a lot of night use, that would be good. I like the terminal ones, but some things completely get lost in the transition. Now I am asking for too much!
This rom is so customizable, and now that I have a clean install, the fc have for the most part disappeared, and I have not even thought about flashing stock, like I normally did.

10-4, just wasn't sure how feasible it was... it's not a deal breaker if none of those happen, but he asked... have a good one, option...
thought the stock camera was a part of the sense framework as well, could be wrong.
My main request is to have a ROM specific theme. I switch ROMs a lot and after flashing lots of ROMs now on different phones (I'm the go-to guy at work now), I like the aesthetic touches a lot of devs put on their ROMs. You guys are adding more and more tweaks in this regard, so I doubt this even needs to be a request, but it's really cool to see those extra touches. After seeing gingerbread on so many different phones now, I've come to learn how unimpressive it is visually. Using the theme engine could then satisfy the themers out there, giving them the option to use what they want, but allow you guys to offer the Royal Theme that makes the ROM your own. I've also seen things like boot animation/fonts/optional app install scripts written into the settings. Things like that offer customization within the ROM and help it to stand out from AOSP GB.
I have just put android 2.3.3 please for give my typo on the post title of 2.3.2 on my dhd expecting it to be gingerbread the interface looks nothing like gingerbread, it just seems more like an updated version of froyo exept it has higher quality audio recording in videos 44.1 khz aac 96kbs the firmware i loaded was Seraphic stock-rooted 2.36.405.8 but doesnt look anything like gingerbread and has no DSP equalizer option either, i did try cynogens 7 firmware but didnt like it the camcorder and camera app is awfull with a horrible grey border awfull 8khz sound recording and no focus function on the camcorder either which states by pressing the screen it does not work so i thought i would install a non modded version of firmware, is this normal for 2.3.3 to be like this or have i done something wrong?
Thanks
Err, It is Gingerbread.
Gingerbread has been officially labeled as "Android 2.3 Gingerbread" for months.
As much as it looks like the older Froyo 2.2, it still is Gingerbread.
Liam
yeah but the interface is nothing like gingerbreads?? wheres all the fancy extra audio options? also in the software version under about phone it would actually say gingerbread just like it say's froyo 2.2.

I think you maybe mistaken for the custom roms i.e. CynogenMod.
I know what you mean though... I thought the same but then I came to the realisation that is what the developers of the custom rom's have implented.
Liam
Your getting a little mixed up here.
Gingerbread is Android 2.3
What you are referring to is HTC Sense, the skin/framework that HTC uses to brand Android. HTC Sense has looked like this since the very beginning back with the HTC Hero.
just looking at pictures of some gingerbread builds the main home screen has different dock icons and thats something the developers did redesign, you dont swipe the screen down in gingerbread to inlock its sideways and when you shut down gingerbread the screen goes off with a white line effect like a crt tv being switched off, this build does not seem like gingerbread at all and the developers particulary said they where implementing new dsp equalizer features which are featured on the androids developers website, i also downloaded a very buggy leaked release of gingerbread which had developer test apps on it as well, the gingerbread battery and wifi icons are green not white and thats not because it was modded, the nexus has gingerbread which looks nothing like this release.
Yes the Nexus S runs Pure Android, which does not have HTC Sense, and as such looks nothing like it. You wondered why Samsung's TouchWiz looks nothing like Motorola's MotoBlur, Its because they were designed to look different from Pure Android.
The docks can be changed easily with different launcher apps from the Market. WiFi & mobile network icons are white when your not synced with Google, they turn green once connected.
HTC has removed some features, i.e the CRT animation as they probably feel it doesn't flow well with HTC Sense.
Have you tried MIUI?
yeah i use go launcher ex its just the developers at android stating a major audio overhaul which is no different to froyo i just thought it would look more like this

thanks anyway andy has explained it now was just a bit mythed by it
All of us know that Android development on our HD2s' has reached a very great time and now we are running the roms and android versions that very few new devices experience them officially.
The reason i am creating this thread is this that...after using CM7 roms for while (nearly 5 month) yesterday i finally switched to dungphp sense 3.0 rom (v1.7) and at the first sight i see my HTC HT2 (the evergreen Phone) alive with colors. because as much as we know the bigest annoying thing about CM7 roms is the pale color look and dark mode that they have...
but sense style and more colorful shapes which reminds us of a original HTC phones, really has increased my interest to HD2 once more time
but besides all this, the sense roms ar very slow and as far as as all of us know...glitches and some other bugs are really annoying.
and this happens where, that all CM7 roms now are really bug free and suer fast on our HD2, which makes the LEo more than a Native android device!!! (as my own experience when my friend see my HD2 running Android (CM7) and comparing that with their own devices like Desire,Desire HD or Desire S...my device is as fasst as them and sometimes more interesting due to CM7 special features) but with CM7 my device screen is like black and white infront of them, and it reaally annoys you!
.
.
.
so after saying this, i want to ask a questions from you and esp. the greatest HD2 developers: Whats the best way for HD2 android development in this (as i think) critical time? i mean developing CM7 roms, which are really 99% bug free and super fast to a more colorfull and better screen performance or developing Sense 3.0 roms to make them faster and trying to see no glitches?
and WP7? i think it has no chances against android...just great 720p playing!
.
.
.
i think this thread will really help us, by knoing the idea of all HD2 Android users. so please enter here and leave your comments to make our HD2 ever better.

Well i don't really get your problem. Why don't you just use a theme for cm7. Think there are a lot out there in the xda forums and i'm pretty sure there are some colourful under them. Or just try a miui build. They are fast and stable like cm and can be skinned and customized like no other ROM and it's really easy...
And there always will be both. The cm roms and the sense ROMs. I think there are more than enough devs for our hd2 so that they don't have to concentrate all on improving one kind of ROM. Some of us also like the clean and not so colourful stuff.
Sure, but MIUI roms are somehow just beautifull and not useful...there more different from the way we knew android. I have tried them but after just few days dissapointed and changed to CM7 and now sense 3.0...
Yes themes for CM7 may be a good choice but,i meant the total base of CM7 roms are dead colors.

One thing I will say since I've tried MIUI before, is the great many themes for it. There are what seems like an endless number of all different kinds of themes for MIUI. But I still think my dislike for MIUI stems from the lack of elegance it has. An example of this, even though it can be replaced, of course, is the stock MIUI analog clock. It just looks pitiful to me. But it's indicative of the whole system. There just doesn't seem to be any elegance or refinement to it.
i have to disagree. i also don't like the miui launcher and use go launcher with it, but it's much more functional than cm7 or something else. for example the dockbar with all the quicklinks on the second page, flashlight when pressing home button while the phone is locked, the messaging app, theme program. you can do much more with a rom that has the miui base and if you don't like the look of the iphone just install another launcher than you have your elegance back.
first i thought the same about miui but after using it for a while there is no alternative for me in terms of functionality and customizability.
and the most important thing, it's fast and only has 2-5mAh in standby.

sure it is true...when we install a MIUI rom, are HD2 seems just beautifull with that so much of themes but as you said the very first features we benefit in our CM7 or Sense roms are lost in this kind of roms...
even the MIUI launcher is not so customizable, as an example you can not make a shortcut for your word, pdf or... files!...
anyway i don't think MIUI would be the future for our HD2s

you mean tht these small feature are really superior to that of CM7 roms?! like special features that we have in CM settings? idon't think so even the MIUI rom is comperable in the features to sense roms but they are beautifull and like CM7s' roms fast...no doubt in this.
but would you tell me the features that make MIUI roms very special? which makes them paying more attention than CM7 or sense roms?

I'm going to have to eat my words. I downloaded an SD build of MIUI, the 3dak version, and am seeing elegant operation. It is actually compelling me to like it. The flashlight shortcut is brilliant! It is exactly what a flashlight should be; right there easily accessible without fumbling in the darkness to find it.
Sorry to keep the offtopic going but regarding MIUI I have only one oppinion.
It's great, it looks ok ( maybe a little to playful for me ) but the gradient banding is a great turn off for me. When they will do a dithered version specially for hd2 or ( so help us God ) they fix the banding issue, I will give a second thought to MIUI.

you mean tht these small feature are really superior to that of CM7 roms?! like special features that we have in CM settings? idon't think so even the MIUI rom is comperable in the features to sense roms but they are beautifull and like CM7s' roms fast...no doubt in this.
but would you tell me the features that make MIUI roms very special? which makes them paying more attention than CM7 or sense roms?

What Feature do you have in cm7 Settings that miui doesn't have? Please tell me. I only know overclocking and therefore i was using setcpu even on cm ROMs. There is not one feature i'm missing from cm on miui. And yes these small things like quick access to flashlight from the lockscreen make a ROM special for me because it's just useful.
I didn't say miui is the future for our hd2, i said that there's no reason for the devs concentrating on a single type of ROM cause so much people are working on hd2 android.
Miui would just be the answer of the things you were complaining about.

Can you explain what banding issue you mean? I never heard of that or experienced any problems i didn't have on other builds.
Ok, some might say this is picky.
Gradient banding is when the screen displays more colors than the screen actually supports at that time.
More details here: http://origin.arstechnica.com/news.media/Colour_banding_example01.png
And creates that stepping effect that really looks terrible. Yes, it has no effect on stability, functionality or anything else. It's just a visual artifact that for me makes it quite clear that it's just a port.
The best way to see the banding is to enter the dialer in MIUI . Give it a try and report back if you see smooth gradients. I would be surprised.
thanks. ok your right. never really noticed it. the ring of the sense 3 lockscreen for example has also gradients but there is no banding. i also can see it in the stock launcher but because i don't use it i don't care.
really never noticed that.

so,we are not making a war man...be calm please , we are just discussing...
so about the features...e.g: LOckscreen gestures (which makes mopre than that shortcut for flashlight in MIUI,because you can acces just everything by adding a gesture in your lock screen not just flashlight ;-) ), other features like tablet tweaks, so many features for light sensor and display that MIUI does not have! or many others ;-)
but i am not saying MIUI is bad!! beceuse the first time i my self installed it, i really enjoyed alot ,esp. from the way it looks and make our HD2s' alive and very colorful and goodlooking with so lots of theme stuff.
but the most annoying things are this that its taking its origin from the IOS and not android, we love android, and we all believe that its more powefull than IOS because its open source. even if we use a different launcher still the setting is just the way i said...any way,
i think if we could have MIUI graphics on CM7 we have all that we need.
anyone could make this possible?
This thread is ridiculous...
"You know what I like about Sense 3 ? It has very beautiful color !!!
You know what I like about CM7 ? It so fast and useful !!!"
You know what I like about MIUI ? It look so pretty and feels like an iPhone !!!"
Please, just be grateful for the versatility of our devices and to the devs still working on it, although it's getting old.
The rest is just personal tastes and doesn't deserve to be discussed...or polled...

if you use this features it's ok but i never needed them. tablet tweaks are for tablets and i personally don't like my statusbar on the bottom. but this is all personal liking. i also never needed additional display or light sensor settings. sure it's good to have it implemented but i never missed it on other roms. and most of this are things that can also be done by a third party app. the only thing i would like to have from cm are the toggle additions where you can automatically switch off 3g when your connected to wifi and something like that. these are really useful but most other things are not really needed for a phone. at least i don't need them.
miui just looks like ios. it's still open source and who cares how the settings look when you installed another launcher? i go to settings once per month or less. and i think that they aren't bad on miui. you can find what your searching for very fast.
but as said this is all personal taste and there are enough developers to make roms for the tastes of every people, so there's no need to concentrate on developing one kind of rom.
