Disable to side buttons - HTC Aria General

is there a way to disable the side sound buttons? because it gets so easy to just press them inside your pocket and miss calls and texts. or when in class to accidentaly switch to ring mode. can be very annoying

Huh dont u lock ur phone when u put it in ut pocket? if u have it locked u cant change the volume

So why wouldn't you check the volume before going into class? If you have it on vibrate, you'll see the vibrate mode icon in the notification bar...if it's not there, the volume is up. Also, if you depending upon what ROM you're running and what security lock you have enabled, you can slide the right bar over to put it in silent/vibrate only mode

because im a very lazy person and was just lookin for an easy way to solve my problem. doesnt seem like it so thanks anyways

if ur running cyanogen u can set quiet hours if u want

LOL, you are a great solver, man!
ajilopez, have you solved your problem? have you tried to reboot, use another media player, use another song?
[email protected]: yes i did. my alarm doesn't work, it doesn't ring, no screen taps etc. but when i use my bluetooth headset, i hear everything from the headset.
Tried a hard reset already?
uhh...haven't done this sort of thing before...how?
Turn off the phone.
Hold the left and right soft keys down and keep it held while you press the on button. Don't release the left and right keys until the colorful screen shows up.

Ehm...maybe you should have mentioned that all data stored on the phone memory will be gone after this.
So make a backup before hardresetting!

Looks like there is no option to select to do sleep on/off.
that's what i actually need.
When phone is off, i can turn it on with reset hole. I don't need to be able to turn off phone. reset is enough.
I only need it to go to and off sleep. Now i am running it always on which is draining battery fast, couple of hours even with brightness lowered to 20%.
plsssss
I did try what brandonledski mention. but looks like it will only turn of screen but not on.
i could make you a shortcut under start menu for the power options as im not sure about being able to map it to another button
How i will turn on screen then ?

AE Button only works when your phone is on, to cold boot your phone you would have to hit the reset button

So i guess ill adjust Phone Alarm setting not to shut off display, leave ON, then do it manually every time i need with AE buttons
EDIT:
Hm,... so i adjusted Phone Alarm not to touch power options,.... AE works for ON/OFF Display, but looks like when its off for some time i cant turn it on any more,.... only if i am switching it off/on one after another
EDIT: Actualy problem was Auto Locking app, as soon as phone is locked i cant ON any more,.... ill try to see if i can add exception in this auto locking app ( its CSDevCtrl APP)
Lock all buttons was an option available for older devices, which should still be available via reg edit (as brandolenski mentioned). I'm gonna try that myself.
AE Button kinda works but battery is draining faaaast.
If i can somehow resume phone from `Shutdown` mode which is set by Phone Alarm (http://www.pocketmax.net/phoneAlarm.html) that would solve problem. This mode i guess put phone in Stand-By (save battery) not only turn off display as in AE Buttons

[Q]end call button.

Is there anyway to end the call rather then.... having to unlock the phone pull the task bar down then hit end... sometime I just wanted to hang up people rather then them just listening to me trying to hang up on them.. that give them time to say "you better now hang up on me" 0.0

What rom are you running. Theres a soft end call button on every rom and dialer im aware of.
Did you change a setting? The phone never locks up for me when on a call.
if you used other apps during phone call, the phone can go to lock. the only way i know to do want you want is to root, then you can remap the buttons
this thread starts with search button, but i think some where down the line, people are posting other options. read on.

Yes, stay in the call screen. Then you just pull it away from your face and hit end call...easy as pie. If you exit to the home screen, the phone will lock and you have to do it your way.
OR
If you do have to leave the call to do something else, go back into the call screen when you're done so the end call button is always there.
The phone doesn't lock as long as the "in call" screen is up.

Multiple problems after official froyo update

i successfully updated to froyo from kies. before this i had the stock rom and did not install any custom one
after updating my proximity sensor works when the phone is held vertical in an upright position
but after making a call, if i keep it on the table and close the sensor, the screen doesn't turn off. it should turn off and was working fine in 2.1 for me
can you guys confirm if the sensor turns off even when laid flat on the table?
also, the volume up/down button does not silence the ringtone when i get a call
please reply so that i can confirm whether the problem is with my phone or with the new release.
Not sure about the sensor problem but as far as your second problem is concerned hold the vol down button for a few seconds to mute the ringtone

Proximity Sensor is problematic
Yes The Sensor does'nt seem to be responding towards the end of the call. Just use the home key to light up the screen.
The display screen timeout settings does not automatically turn off even after specified time.this happens very often and need to enable screen timeout settings again and again.

Yes , I am experiencing problem with Swype , it is not responding to aby gesture. I am able to type using swype as regular keypad but not as "swype". I resetted my phone 3-4 times but i wasn't lucky.
So i am using keypad only. Its official DDJP2 FROYO version thpugh its flashed using odin as i was experiencing problem with KIES.

This is the worst release by Samsung , as per me....Even on call if you are using headphone, you will hear clicking sound (argh)
Yes the proximity sensor isn't working fine. Screen does not turn on after a call. So I need to press home screen every time.
And long pressing menu button in call log does not enable search bar which happened perfectly in 2.1

and during a call, if you press volume up/down button to increase/decrease the volume, the voice breaks for a second and you hear a clicking noise.
these problems are seriously irritating me. thinking of going back to 2.1 or some custom ROM is samsung does not release an update fixing these problems.
Few more problems that I had observed....
1. If you open contacts and press back button you won't be going any where
2. Previously I used to connect my phone using bluetooth to my PC (Ubuntu) but now even after turning on my Bluetooth along with visiblity phone is not visible. Once I was lucky and recognized my phone as "V5" though the device name is different.
3. If you try to add pics to the contacts from your gallery the time taken is very long which was not the case with Eclair 2.1
4. Previously with Launcher Pro plus on Eclair I never had to "Force close" any application, but after upgrading to Froyo the first call itself raised a warning for force close. Even after sometime in my other call I couldn't End my call as the screen was not responsive.
After a struggle for One day on latest Firmware I feel that its not that worth to wait this much amount of time for official firmware.

can anybody tell me if I5801ZHJPF better that DDJP2?
I have another different problem my battery life is not going above 10 hrs while on 2.1 i used to get 18hrs. Am i missing some setting or what.I am gonna install something else if this **** firmware does not improve in the next update
i think this update was hastily released.
many bugs in it.
if you see the in-built task manager, the "uninstall" button is not even properly designed.
even accelerometer has some problems
the worst bug ever is the camera bug
theres this geo-tagging option..
until you get a fix on ur location camera will force close..
and it cant be disabled at all..
the only way to get around it is to use 3g or disable network mode in 2g..

i saw somewhere that this can be solved by disabling "use wireless network" option in settings->location and security.

+ add one more bug to the list,
the microphone is also not working properly with different applications like Talking Tom or Talking Parrot, previously they used work on 2.1 without any problem or distrubance.
Did anybody also had the same problem?
One good thing with the Froyo update is previously my phone is used to restart unconditionally with the stock firmware (randomly sometimes during call or when Ideal). But till now no such weird behaviour in the current release.

[Q] Power Button Mod

I'm having a hard time distinguishing between the power button and the volume buttons by mere touch/feel. (I have the Verizon version). I keep pushing the power button when I want volume and vice versa. I use knock-knock a lot, but sometimes I don't want to have to go back to a home screen just to turn the display off. Anyone else share this frustration? I was thinking of buying some skateboard grip tape, cutting a tiny square, and placing it on the power button. Thoughts on a physical mod to the power button?

Putting a case on made it a lot easier to find the buttons, and hit the right one. Without a case I had to flip it over every time. I feel like the back location of the buttons is basically OK, but the Verizon design change made them really hard to find by touch. Having them recessed inside a case really does help though.

Honestly this frustrated the crud out of me at first. the TPU case does help to find the buttons in general, But after using mine for a week and a half im starting to develop muscle memory and am looking or pressing the wrong button less and less. I think a couple more weeks and it will be a non issue.

Can also be done with Nova and Tasker if you already have it.
I've been looking for a way to lock the screen while in an app since I got the phone. The double tap in status bar will be huge.
Is there a list of all the shortcuts LG included somewhere? Doesn't make much sense to develop them and the not tell anyone about them.
I found an awesome solution for this. I've been reading a few threads about LMT launcher, so I decided to give it a try. You can get it from here. (Under settings>Set gesture input...choose #2). I setup my pie controls to swipe from the right side of the screen. In LMT settings, In PIE tab select your pie piece and then under advanced command options choose KEY and enter the number 26. Now when you press the word KEY in your pie shortcuts it'll turn off the screen. Works great!
Yea I know what you mean OP, lots of times I am just looking for the volume button and can't tell the difference.. quite annoying
I don't want to cover up the small light ring (which Verizon made smaller) so maybe epoxy glue is best idea
