Need Help in HD2 - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

Sorry everyone,
I am new in HD2 i just purchased it few months ago,
i read many threads about dual boot,
but till this moment i cant understand how to dual boot Android on Sd card ,
can any one support with any previous thread that can help.

I would try darkstones 1.5 ram build in this forum. Just follow the instructions.. If your a visual learner search youtube for running android on the HD2 which help you get a feel for what's going on. Can't say any of the android builds are 100% stable but neither is the stock windows mobile 6.5. Being the android build is just a couple of directories on the SD card, it's a simple matter to back them it up and experiment.. if it gets corrupted for some reason just copy the files back over from backup.
Just be sure to run the HSPL hack which will allow you to run different OS's on your HD2, and make sure your radio's are up to date.. I'm still run 2.10 radio (not the 2.15) so even mine's not totally up to date. If older than the 2.10 radio you might want to upgrade that first.

i tried the below android
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=881937
everything is look great except that once Android boot a massage indicates that internal memory is full and i cannot do anything for that

[Q] Problem running Android on my htc hd2

Sorry guys but I need some serious help getting android to run on my htc hd2....
I have been trying to get android to run for the last 5 weeks+ but I have not even got close....
HSPL 2.08 installed.....
Tried mostly all android builds....
Tried every radio known to man in combinations with custom ROMs....."AND NOTHING"
Currently running....
HTC HD2 UK (LEO T858) 576 MB...
MANILLA VERSION: 2.5.20191914.0...
ROM: Energy.Leo.21683.Sense2.5.Cookie.2.0.DinikGlass.Nov.02.7z...
RADIO: 2.12.50.02.2...
SD CARD: SANDISK SDHC 4G CLASS 2...
Formatted the sd card with....SDFormatter V2.0 many times....
I follow all instructions from the professionals I.E the chefs....and also have been very patient with regards to letting android create its .img files sometimes leaving for hours at a time......
I have read copious amounts of threads relating to this issue, so I have not been lazy...... but all avenues circle back to the same conclusion "no android no work"....
The only thing that I possibly hindering me is my sd card, but some say that android runs smooth from these type of cards...so instead of going out and spending a fortune on a top of the range one I thought that I would post this thread first....
Is it something simple that I am missing........?
Please any help would be most appreciative......
same.. :/
Hi, i seem to be having a similar problem
I run haret and it seems to run through some scrolling text, then leave a blank black screen for ages at a time.
Have i too done something wrong?
Any help wud be greatly appreciated
Same...
Me too, the exact same thing. Have tried MDJ froyo rev 1.5, with S1 kernel and with Hastarin R8. Both types I get a black screen with HTC in green - but stays like that for upwards of 10mins.
Running:
HSPL: 2.08
Manila version: 2.5.20121412.1
Rom: kwbr topix 1.6.3
Radio: 2.15.50.14
Memory card: Sandisk 16Gb SDHC Ultra
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

the other thing you can do is get the android sdk, install adb, and watch the logcat, it shuld be obvious if it starts to loop, or copy the logcat and post it so someone can help you debug.
my guess, your card's corupted... try formating it to an ext4 file system, then back to fat32. or scan it on a linux box and see if it shows up corupted...
Thanks t1h5ta3....
I will give it a go....
i used to face the same issue. place the android folder in the root of your sdcard
and check your startup.txt for your android path
e.g set cmdline "rel_path=Android"
you've probably did it before....
So why not pay a little money and get a low end SD card for testing? That would tell straight away if there's a problem with the card.
I use a 16GB Sandisk class 2 with no problems and also have a 16GB Kingston class 4 that runs fine.
Never had any problems, except SOD (and there's a fix for that), with these 2 cards.
Both formatted Fat 32 with 32 kilobyte allocation size on a Win 7 machine.
Makes Sense.........
"Enough" is "Enough"
From my previous post I have purchased another SDHC card (TOSHIBA 8GB CLASS 4) for testing android and surprise surprise I am still getting exactly the same problem, not a thing in regards running android. Why is such a simple thing turning out to be so problematic, my head has finally dropped and I am losing the will to live.....?
Common Issues.....
whilst linux is booting android it will always stop at "SMD: ch 1 1 2 -> 2".......... ???????????? i have searched for this with little or no success.
And one thing that I find very confusing is the Startup.txt files... what should it actually say because many people have different opinions.....BOOT or BOOTLINUX ????
Can anyone please please please post a complete setup in regards of rom, radio, etc etc of there HTC HD2 (LEO) European version """(NOT A 1024)"""" running android, so I can compare and find out what the BL**DY hell is going on...

Once again any help would be extremely appreciated....
The only other thing I could think of is that maybe it's the Windows rom that you're using. Haret Android actually makes use of bits and pieces of what winmo leaves behind in memory, and since you are running a rom with cht built in, it may be using the ram memory differently, storing different things in ram addresses that Android doesnt expect. I would back up your NRG CHT build (shouldnt be too bad using XDA_UC), and flash a stock rom or NRG's bare bones Android rom. If it doesn't work, at least it's one more thing you could cross off the list of likely suspects

try my proven and tested method, very simple
HERE
The plot thickens
Thanks for the suggestion huggs....
I flashed Energy.Leo.COM2.Barebones WM Build.For.Android as you suggested and have been getting some strange results??????
Firstly because that particular build auto boots into android once you switch on your device with an sd card inserted it does not detect either my Toshiba micro 8GB or my Sandisk 4GB SD"HC" cards and says "NO STORAGE CARD HAS BEEN DETECTED"... although saying that I can open file explorer on my device and read both storage cards.....but the auto boot does detect my Sandisk micro 2GB "SD" card and auto boots android but Linux stops at line "usb: product_id 0xff9" and hangs......
Either my hd2 does not like micro "SDHC" cards or it is knackered......
I AM CONFUSED.COM
Thanks Jigners i have already tried your methord but i think something a bit more drastic is required for my device....

since you have HSPL already
bootloader
connect to pc
Task 29
disconnect to pc
battery pull
bootloader
flash VBNDroid-Reloaded2Alt-21913-Oct08
format SD card
download [UPD][BUILD][18.11.10]|MDJ FroYo Sense Clean v. 2.4 [kernel: MDJ S6.1]
unzip
put the Android folder to your sd card
with device off - put sd card to device
boot
manually click on clrad then haret (do it fast, you must activate haret while
hardware keys are alight)
print that step by step guide, you can never fail on that.
jingers i preformed task 29 and i can not get my phone into the bootloader ?
Hi there,
One question to all of you having problems with Android. Do you happen by any chance to have extended battery?
I similar problems with Android. One day it worked and the next day it wouldn't and no matter what I did it just refused to work on any build I tried. I was so sure that it was because of the memory card that I even didn't think about the extended battery causing problems.
So if you try everything, including different wm roms, different android builds, changing sd cards and are totally at loss just try any rom with extended battery support or try changing the kernels that support one and then try again.
Provided you've got extended battery and are not too much experienced in Android issues I could bet that this is the cause of your problems.
hi rafian a good shout but no i am not using an extended battery.....
But is does not matter now because i think my phone is bricked after doing a task 29 because it will not enter the bootloader ??????????
Also because it is not entering the bootloader and all i get is the NRG flash screen from my preivious rom and that task 29 has not removed it am i right in thinking if i send my phone off to be repaired / replaced they will see that splash screen and know that i had HSPL installed and void my warranty ???????
I'm sorry to read it Frank. This is the worst case scenario ( .
WHY O WHY did i do a task 29......................
Got my HD2 to work
Hi all,
I also faced many problems in my attempts to make Android run on my HD 2. I got stuck on the startup screen (starting Linux kernel etc).
In the end irrespective of what the other form user stated, you need to install HSPL (article link provided below). Be warned, to install this I had to switch off everything (wifi, BT etc) but phone (and a reset was needed) and had to make sure on windows desktop that Windows Mobile Device Centre was able to communicate with phone BUT was not synching anything.
Once HSPL was installed I found out that my Radio ROM was too old. need 2.07... + (I had 2.06...) I then updated my Radio ROM thenTADA I am now running Android on my HD2.
Here is the link that resolved my issues.

Will Windows Phone 7 be available to boot from SD Card via MAGLDR ?

Hi ! I think the title is all I want to say ! ;D Simple Question.. but I'm waiting for a reply from someone who may know the answer..
PS: The reason I'm asking this is because, I'm currently using Android 2.2 NexusHD2 V1.9G NAND Build, so I'm happy a lot with it, but I want to test Windows Phone 7 of course, so I noticed that there isn't an SD Build of WP7, there is only NAND Build, so I must backup all my data from the SD Card & format it & you know.. takes time to prepare the device for the WP7, & backed up my NAND Android Build & converted it into a SD Android Build, so if I will like WP7, I will remain & will use it, & will use my Android Build on SD from now on.. but of course.. I will see if I will like it... who knows.. maybe I will not..
So again, why I'm asking is because I don't want to see that I've wasted time on making my device run WP7 on NAND & Android on SD & after a few days to see how developers release a version of Windows Phone 7 which can be booted directly from SD Card... if you got my point of view..
Yeah I'm hoping for this too, I just want WP7 to play with, not as my primary OS (yet).
Android NAND versions came faster than expected, and virtually out of nowhere, WP7 NAND came. The developers behind those solutions are quite busy doing a lot of stuff for us, but you never should expect anything with exact timing.
Be thankful that all those solutions do exist at all. And from time to time, users like you and me should contribute in one or another way to make other things possible.
Last, but not least, the flashing process is so fast with an HD2, and there are so many really good backup solutions, that I cannot fully understand your request. If you´re intending to test a couple of days only, why hesitate? You can easily go back to another OS within really short time. Any other, in fact.
Already Testing WP7 !

Well, you know what, I think you're right, & I'm already on Windows Phone 7 now.. I've backed up all my Android 2.2's Data with the ClockWork Mod's Recovery Feature & copied it to my PC, so now everything is backed up & I will stay a few days on WP7 & test it to see if I will really like it, & I will repartition my SD for to use both WP7 & Android & will put a good build of Android to be on SD so I can boot into via MAGLDR when I will want to... & will copy my Android Used Build's Data.img to the new Android Build which I will use it on SD..
So, anyway, thanks for fast reply... Good Luck to you Friends !

[Q] About to Flash WP7 couple of questions

I have done a ton of reading today but can't seem to find some last answers.
I do apologize, but I've been coming in and out of these forums for years and flashing various phones on occaision so I'm comfortable but no expert.
I have a TMOUS HD2 (yellow reset key) with the stock wm6 rom installed.
I've been running Android MDjGingerbread v.1.0 for a couple months and it's GREAT.
Now I want to try out WP7.
Questions:
1. I have everything downloaded and ready to go but am not sure about the radio. as I understand it I (as a tmous owner) have to MAKE SURE that the radio that's packaged with the WP7 doesn't get written? how do I do that? Or am I confused on this.
2. As I'm currently happy with the install I have on the SD card for android I'm going to remove this SD card prior to flashing WP7 So it doesn't get overwritten. HOWEVER I'm wondering will I be able to re-install this SD card after getting WP7 all set up and unlocked and doing everything needed to the SD card I use for the WP7 install.. .Can I remove that SD card and replace it with the one that has the Android Rom I've had such good luck with? and then boot to that android build from WP7 like I did from Winmo6? Or will I have to sort out a fresh android install to the SD card.
3. Are DFT WP7 roms already registry edited so they appear as HD7's or does that need to be done prior to trying to get an unlock code from MS. If so where's a link to that? I can't seem to find instructions on that.
LASTLY. I understand you can actually run all 3. winmo6 in nand and WP7 partition/Android Partition off the SD card.
What I don't get is if you have to Nand flash the WP7 first to get all the settings straight and copy that install to the partitioned SD card... THEN put the android build I want on the other partition? Or Can WP7 be run from SD card for the whole process? I'd prefer to just leave the stock rom alone. Although obviously not completely against it.
Any/All help is greatly appreciated.
Mods feel free to delete and PM me with links if I missed these answers in an obvious spot.
You do expect a PM from a mod, sending you links to obvious spots?
Hmmm... I guess that won´t happen. But maybe you read too much, overlooking some of the "obvious" spots inside the stickies of each subforum.
Anyway, now to your questions:
1) WP7 ROMs don´t come with Radio ROM parts.
Note: To install MAGLDR, check this thread here. Here you´ll learn about requirements. If you had a NAND Android build, you´ll be familiar with this - but please make sure to use MAGLDR 1.12 or higher with WP7.
2) There is a tutorial to dual boot WP7 and Android: Click!
3) The very first "Leo70" ROM is not jailbroken, virtually all others are
4) No triple boot possible yet, only WP7 and Android or WinMo 6.5 and Android.
Thanks So much.
Shoulda just kept reading. It's up and running 100pct now.
Just got to figure out why I cant get it to see the SD card.
but I think I saw some notes on that. I'll go back and read tomorrow.

[Q] Why wont my HD2 Accept ANYTHING?

Hi,
I have been on this forum for the past 2-3 days trying to get android on my gf's HD2 and it just wont have it.
I have tried MCCM's HD v4 Desire one
I have tried Froyo 1.5
I have tried DL Desire Series, both SD and MAGLAR.
The ones where you click CLRCAD.exe then haret.exe either say it doesent have certificates to run or parts are missing. Or it goes to a black scree and gets stuck on "Jumping To Kernel" and it stays like that for ages (tested for 1 hour, never budged)
The DL desire series via MAGLAR wont work either, I need HSPL (sp?) to install MAGLAR but HSPL keeps reporting back that the file Rapi.dll is missing.
My SPL version is 1.42**** so technically thats right ( from what I have read )
I have tried formatting the SD card via PC and device, also tried a factory reset and an additional 2 other SD cards. Still nada.
What else can it be? Someone mentioned the radio but there is so many questions being asked in a specific thread that mine gets lost and since this is more of a global issue I thought a thread of its own is deserved
I really want this and will go to any length to get it ( not keen on ROM flashing thought, would like to avoid turning the handset into a hammer rather than a phone)
Hope I havent busted any rules
Cheers,
Gib
You need radio 2.14 or more for Android.
aka, upgrade your ROM.
You are not alone
You are not alone here.
I have been having this problem too, I get stuck on the HTC white screen. though I haven't tried much ROM but I have tried formating and reflahing of my WM ROM.
I once did a stock ROM official update with: (RUU_Leo_S_HTC_NLD_3.14.404.2_Radio_15.42.50.11U_2 .15.50.14_LEO_S_Ship)
ever since I have not been able to find how to flash using SPL, I have been flashing using SSPL_RU and my radio is 2.15.50.14.
Could this reason be the problem.
I need help please I want to have a feel of droid.
Know the feeling
I have been trying all the different android magldr sd roms and everytime its the same story. First boot fine. Second boot and on it just hangs at the green htc logo. I have tried so many things i don't know what to do next.
Have you tried one of the Energy ROM's? I found on my unlocked HD2 that these were the only roms (going back a while now) that I could get Android running off an SD card. I've since heard that there is a basically blank rom for people who want to run nothing but android. It's a small rom, only about 30mb.
It's in a few places around the board. I can't remember what the name of that one is off the top of my head, but any of the Energy series, or the Miri ROM's apparently work too.
Good luck!

Ater trying some nand roms i came back to the orignal firmware( the same as you).
And i also have this problem , it just load into a picture with htc on it.
Have you tried using a different SD card? My Sandisk 8gb didn't accept anything. I had an old 512mb laying around that came with my E90, loaded SuperRAM on it (aprox 450mb including data.img) and it booted straight away.
2.15.50.* is the right radio for most SD builds, make sure you have enough free space on SD. most builds have at least 512mb if not 1gb data.img which gets created when first boot. If runs out of space it will get stuck on boot screen. No hspl required with 3.14 HTC winmo rom
I also try to get Android in my HD2 (energy ROM). I am somewhat puzzled however: I want to flick back and forth between WM and Android and many programs I have reside onto my SD card. I have read in an earlier post that before attempting Android I should format my card - does this mean that I cannot have WM data (programs etc) in the same SD card I run android? or that I can transfer them back AFTER I manage (if) to load Android?. Thank you
The SD card has to be formatted in FAT32. Just to make sure the card is clean I copy all my data to my pc, format the card and transfer it all back.

OK thank you - got it!
Unfortunately I cannot get passed the green HTC splash screen - my HD2 stays there for time no end and the only solution is to take battery out. Any suggestions?
Assuming you've got everything set up properly (right radio, hspl, ...) which you can find on the Android forum. I think you'll have to try using a different brand of sd card. Some cards simply don't play nice with Android.
Got uber annoyed with the SD method, just ended up doing a full scale flash to ROM. Was easier lol

I would almost agree with that except, i have 2 exactly the same 16 gb cards, each with a 3 gb fat32 primary partition. 1 loads android but wont allow me to do things like take pictures[it says there isn't an sd card.] The second card just hangs at the green htc screen. Even if I copy the working partition to the other card, it still hangs.

Thanks for this Info. I didn't take into consideration that the file will be enlarged during booting. The copied Android folder was 508MB in size but this got enlarged to about 1.3GB during boot up. I thought if I just leave about 1.2GB in all the SD card I have been trying that it should be enough. But I was wrong.
Thanks a lot I have done multiple reboot without any problem.
I am enjoying my first Android feel.
Thanks once again.
Android on HD2 hates most SD Cards
From my own limited experience to also having read many posts I can say that most sd cards prevent Android from running properly on the hd2. Mine works fine with radio 2.14/2.15 and the stock Sandisk 16gb card that came with my tmous hd2, but I recently tried a wintec 16gb card that made Android run like a broke-wheel-cart and other sd cards I have laying around make it fail.
I think everyone needs to add what card they are using to their signature, or else we might all just end up howling in the wind.
Based on some feedback from another post I just ordered this Sandisk 16gb card from Newegg. It is Model # SDSDQ-016G-A11M . It is reported that that model# provides class10 speeds even though it is sold as a class2. It's use with Android is supposed to be good.

Any chance to run wp7 from sd totally?

and use android in the nand? i want use wp7 only for make hd videos and use android for all days, let me know please
no.... it's impossible.... WP7 system not operate in that way... WP7 must be flashed to NAND and use SDcard as storage and RAM memory
it's a shame! with android is possibile and with wp7 not
I remember several months ago there was speak of cotulla creating a way to boy wm 6.5 via sd card too but i never heard anything since..maybe just because 6.5 has continued to lose favor
you cant boot WM6.5 by SD card either an doesnt SD android copy its self to RAM? WM2003 might be possible.
The clever chap has got some form or working WM5/6 Emulator working under WP7 if that has direct hardware support, im talking com ports etc, the HD2 would become perfect
course another interesting experiement would be running android via WM6 which is running on WP7, im sure it would run like **** if it was even possible but damn that would be pretty cool

Perhaps what you are thinking about was that there was some talk about a 3-in-1 DFT ROM for the US T-Mobile HD2 that would be able to run Windows Phone 7 or Windows Mobile from NAND memory and Android from the Micro SD card. When booting the phone it would be possible to choose 1 of the 3 operating systems. Other versions of the HD2 (such as the European or Asian models of the phone) do not have enough NAND memory for a 3-in-1 ROM.
is possible install wp7 and android in nand together?

i did some research on this with MS documents and i dont think its possible without it running like **** or having persistant storage issues. WM2003 didnt need persistant storage and ran mostly from RAM (thats why in the good old days if your battery died it reset!) so that might be possible although you'd probably run in to driver issues.
With Android you can more or less change what the OS does, with WM you cant
Essentially SD is very slow, you could build a form of loader that would install to SD but thats not ideal because you need to run the OS in RAM, RAM drives would do, but thats not persistant and WM didnt have a way of mirroring that data back to the SD. In essence, it was never designed to do it, and it was never designed to be changed, so its unlikely it will run from SD unless those issues could be resolved.
I think the 1GB HD2 was going to get a dual boot at one point, and this new emulator looks promising, thats about as close as we'll get i suspect, but then again, perhaps i miss understood what i saw..

I would guess that it all depends on what MAGDLR 2.01 has in its arsenal. Only time will reveal that. And, for sure it would only be possible on the US T-Mobile version of the phone.
