4x boot - HD2 General

Ok. Lets say i wanna choose between 4 different operating systems at startup, anyway of doing that?

not at the moment.
if dft manages to start winmo 6.5 from sd it would be possible, but at the moment you have to choose between winmo 6.5 and wp7.
don't know if ubuntu can be run from sd using magldr.
and you need 2 partitions on your sd.

I still haven't read much, but from what I understood, you can boot android and ubuntu on wm6.5 so that's 3x boot. until someone manages to create an SD WP7 build that somehow runs from directly a partitioned SD something more or less like what SD android is now, or making MAGLDR run it while keeping wm6.5 and everything intact.
let's just wait and see what happens, XDA devs never fail to surprise

[24-Jan-11][Q] Multi Boot 3 or more OS's

Does anybody have or know of a multi boot program/utility that will allow me to boot more than 2 OSs from the SD card?
I currently boot Android from the SD card while booting WM6.5 from NAND.
The ideal program would be a program that ran from NAND and function similar to Linux's Grub. I figure there would be one OS in NAND and the remaining would boot from the SD card.
I want to do this for multiple reasons:
#1. Because the HD2 is the best mobile phone and I love to show people what it can do. Especially iPhone users (its too bad we can't port iOS to the HD2).
#2. Because I would like the flexibility of choosing which OS I want to use an any given time.
#3. Because it's just geeky cool!!!
tqnQ
It was very nice tanQ
i was wondering this question aswell. is there a program that can choose wat you boot?
you could have WP7 on nand
SD android build
Ubuntu on SD
We are waiting for dan1j3l to sort out his bootloader to get Debian and Ubuntu from SD.
And possibly Backtrack5 if you were really geeky
Is that enough??

[Q] Do I have to use the SD method if I want to keep Winmo?

I am about to install Android on my HTC HD2, and the advise I was given was that I must use the SD method. I just want to be sure.
I need a system where when I start the Phone Winmo starts up, and then I run another program to run Android, and then I can go back and forth (via reboot or some other way).
Thanks for your advise and information!

So far as I know, you'll have to go with the SD variant if you want to keep WinMo. That way, WinMo is only a re-boot away. It's the method I prefer as I'm not so taken with either Android or WinPhone to go for the full NAND flash.
yeah, you would need to use the SD card method, i would recomend using RAM builds because they are very fast!
Yes, you must avoid the NAND versions, cause these will erase your Windows Mobile ROM and replace it by a Android ROM.
Thus, you have to choose a build inside the "HD2 Android SD Development" thread.
But here inside it is not always simple. Cause for some SD builds you will need to flash MAGLDR to be able to boot these builds, while for others the old method of executing CLRCAD and HARET is much simpler.

A Few Questions about Windows 7

I have been using a NAND Android ROM since they came out and love it, but I'm curious about Windows 7. My questions are as follows:
Does Windows 7 run off the SD card or NAND?
Can I go back to Android if I don't like it?
Does everything work on 7?
Is there a working Pandora hack?
Thanks for anyone's help on this.
Sent from my HTC HD2 on Android 2.2 using XDA App
1) It runs from NAND
2) Yes, simply flash your preferred NAND via MAGLDR
3) Yes, if you get your activation code to use Live services
4) The jailbreak is called "Chevron" and is cooked into most custom ROMs - but not the very first "Leo70".
The nice thing about the HD2 is you can install wp7 on your NAND, and still boot android off your SD... I went from NAND android back to SD android builds so I could also use wp7, and I've noticed almost no difference in performance and battery life between NAND android and SD android. Only thing you miss out in with SD android is that there's no clockwork recovery... but it's easy enough to boot different builds and make backups with SD android.
WP7 is great, but it's still missing some functionality and apps that android has, so having both is perfect. At this point, I would have a very hard time choosing between the 2 OS's if I had to get a different phone. WP7 grows on you very quickly. Can't wait for MS to put out the update that gives multitasking to WP7.

[Q] Can i have WM 6.5 and boot android from SD as dual-boot?

I've been playing around a bit with my HD2, installed ubuntu v0.3 and android (both using haret. the problem is that booting android using haret is really slow... the logical solution would be to put it on my nand. if i would do this, would i lose WM? I really want to keep WM cause you need to boot ubuntu via haret.
Does anyone know a trick/solution?? all help appreciated. Thanx
Hi,
Sorry to say ,you cannot have all three.
Either WM + SD android boot(as you say ,slow),or Android on NAND (fast).
If you choose to go the way of the NAND...I suggest lots of reading, starting with the guide in my sig number 2.
Good luck .

If you put Android on your NAND, yes, you would lose WM.
You can keep your WM and boot into Ubuntu/Android via Haret.
There are some apps/tools that helps you automate the dual-booting.
Like the two other posters before me said, if you want Windows Mobile, then you will need to keep your SD build. Once you go NAND, you will lose Windows Mobile. My experiences as well with SD builds is that they are much slower to load than NAND. Anywhere from an additional 1.5-3 minutes longer than NAND. The fastest loading NAND builds are the Gingerbread ones. They load for me in under 30 seconds. Non-Gingerbread NAND builds seems to load from 1.5-2 minutes. Search the forum for the dual boot up options to speed loading a bit quicker while helping to reduce battery drain. I am currently using a NAND build but when I was using an SD build, I made sure to have my dual boot up setting at 3 seconds to ensure a better battery life while quickening the boot up time.
Try taking a look at these dual-boot apps/tools:
Exceller Multiple Build Loader for Android/Ubuntu
Jmz Android Dual-Boot for HD2
Android/Ubuntu Loader for HD2

[Q] dual boot windows mobile 6.5 and android both from nand

Is it possible? I could only find threads about 6.5 from nand and android from sd, but i was thinking it should be possible to fit both to nand, and then use data2sd to send android apps and data to sd card, and install all wm apps to the sd card as well.

Yes you can dual boot WP7 and Android, but on WP7 can be inn NAND. You have to run Android from SD card. This is the only way you can dual boot both OS's. Also you can not use apps to SD with WP7 like you can with Android. For one thing WP7 does not support removable storage at all, and two WP7 actually uses the SD card in the HD2 for the internal storage.
i know i can run wp7 and android -___- i am talking about running windows mobile 6.5 and android, both on nand, you must have misread my post

Sorry about that I did miss read it, actually when I read it last night your thread was right under a thread asking about dual booting WP7 and Android plus I had been up all night working on a bootanimation, must have been seeing double lol.....
Anyway though the answer is still the same pretty much. You can run Win Mo from NAND and boot Android from SD card. You can either do it the old fashion way by using the file explorer to open CLCAD and HARET, or you can install a dual boot app in Win Mo to do it with just. Do some googl searching and you will find several apps for this. Just so you know though you can only boot one OS from NAND no matter what OS that is.
