[Q] Remove Pre-installed apps - GT540 Optimus General

I have a rooted gt540 and i just installed root explorer. Now if i try to remove for example shazam on system/apps it says its read only and cannot be deleted..
So how can i delete those redicilous apps and get a bit more space on my phone?

Try systemapp remover its 1$ on market i think but it's worth it
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App

at top right of root explorer click mount rw and then delete

Easiest way to remove pre-installed apps is with Titanium Backup. Free version is enough for that and is available in the market.

i recommend you System App Remover (i've tryed it(to remove root explorer, what was in russian language, and it worked) (needs su)

Can you tell me how Root Explorer works? (how to delete apps/services, how to see which are running)
You delete apps from Data/apps or system/apps. Most apps are named so youll recognise them. Delete the .odex and .apk

And where do I find which services/application are running (after booting) and where do I disable/enable them?
DO NOT DELETE ! (move to internal or external SD card, just in case you need to restore)

I'm a recent convert to Titanium Backup. In the pro version you can "freeze" processes. I'm not exactly sure, but what I think it does is close the process and copy the app to a cache folder.it's no longer running and it doesn't show up in the launcher. All you have to do is unfreeze it to bring it back.
How has Titanium Backup performed for you? Have you noticed any adverse affects from its use? I am looking to lock down the Galaxay tablet for use in one of our departments. Titanium Backup seems to be the way to go. I assume you need to root the device in order to use it?

Second that. Leave them where they are and just rename the apk to apkx.
When you reboot they will be gone, but can be easliy restored by removing the 'x'
Be warned though, if you remove the wrong app's you can get stuck in all sorts of 'force close hell'
Not then end of the world though and is a safer method of playing with your android devices.
Root explorer and ADB are your friends
I've found Titanium Backup does the trick using the freeze option. Very handy should you want to get an app back again. As said, be very careful deleting something, or at least make a copy on your sdcard just in case .
Oh and make sure USB Development is ticked just in case the only way back in is via an adb shell!

System App Remover doesn't work

I have rooted my Desire and install System App Remover but I can't move any system app what is the problem?
Want to move Facebook, Twitter and similar and little bit more...but I can't
Got stock ROM 2.2 Froyo...unlocked
And i have Titanium backup (but not Pro) and I have tried with this app but i can't find options to remove apps
You need S-Off.
Aha...ok
Thank you very much...
root explorer
Try root explorer and delete the apk's directly (or if you are not sure what you are doing just moove them to another folder) remember to do a back-up before
You could also try my app Install Manager which features a system app removal solution for both S-OFF and S-ON users.

Uninstall stock app

Hi,
i just flashed overcome rom+kernel into my euro GT!
Id like to remove Ebook, readers hub, swype and some others!
How can i unistall them safely?
Thank you
System app remover, titanium backup or root explorer... All those apps can uninstall system apps... Ok with root explorer you actually just delete them manually but it is the same effect as the other apps.
And safe... Is nothing. You can delete unsafe system files with all of them and brick your device. You can reflash of course...

So...
Does Anyone already tried uninstalling ebook, swype and readers hub stock app using titanium backup SAFELY?
I removed ereader and readers hub with root uninstaller no problem
Sent from my GT-P1000 using XDA App
I removed them all with System App Remover without any problems
I have the same problem, but I am asking... Can they be removed even without rooted GT? Or do I have to root it first?
Please do some research before posting an easily answered question in the wrong place.

Need help with bloat removal

On AT&T with root. For some odd reason I can't remove the Att system apps. Tried root Explorer and some of the system removal apps on play. Any ideas? I hate knowing the bloat is there and wanting updates every few days.

There're several ways that I know.
1/ Use ES File Explorer and make sure you enable the root explorer option and try to uninstall it using the app manager option.
2/ Go to the root folder of the phone using a root explorer, then go to system -> app and delete the bloatwares you want.
3/ Use Titaninum Backup
4/ Just freeze it with default android settings. It wont run again or take up resources, and will disappear from the app drawer.

ciao
The most useful app for me, is Root Explorer.
It allows you to browse the entire phone without any problem, can mount internal partitions with read/write premissions, so you can modify your system as you wish.
You can even delete stock applications. For me, the Titanium Backup usually fails to delete the system apps, stuck at Removing..., so on. With this, it's just as simple as delete a folder.*
You have to pay some money for it, but I can assure you, that it'll worth it.
And of course, the two mentioned above.
*I have to warn you, you should always make a backup of the app, before deleting it, easier if you don't delete, but move it somewhere on your SD Card
For me must have is : Root Explorer , Busybox , ViPER FX
Do you know Preferences Manager? It's a tool to manage apps preferences with ease, even if you couldn't through UI.
For instance, you can set Huawei Home for auto rotation, if you like.
Cheers
Rom Toolbox

(bought pro version)
Total Commander (with available plugins the best root explorer if u enable it)

SD Maid

Signal
Signal to replace the standard messaging app.
It's end-to-end encryption and free, recommended by Marc Snowden. WhatsApp is crap and not free. Threema has the same functions, but again, Signal is free.
Telegram to send and recieve files (if you don't mind the cloud)
Soma for free calls, video calls and pretty secure messaging
I'm just seeing none of these are rooted apps. They're still useful
Here is one:
3c Toolbox (Pro Version)
This app gave me the most details about my system, it's well worth the money.
ES File Explorer Is the best File Explorer app I have ever used, and it is ad free,
Root Call Blocker
Kernel Toolkit
Drive Droid
Pimp My Rom
Xposed Toolkit
