Dear learned techies,
I have an un-rooted desire Z (UK from carphone warehouse) with the OTA update installed from a month or so ago. Generally love the phone, but have a couple of issues, and I was wondering whether there was an easy fix.
First (and this is what the thread is mainly about)
My calendar app and widget is hideously slow to update compared to my old touch pro. It takes about 30 seconds for appointments to appear in month view (the triangles by the dates) and as long for appointments to appear in day view, when you are a month or two ahead of time. I only have it synching to outlook. any ideas peeps?
Second, and less annoying, the Sense overlay keeps re-starting, often when exiting another program. I don't think Android itself re-starts, but it spends 30 seconds loading the sense overlay once a while. Sometimes this doesn't happen for ages, sometimes several times a day.
Any advice will be awarded by a cyber-pint! Many thanks in advance!

Hi guys, had my Touch HD for a while now and i'm pretty pleased with it. Everything is pretty much working as it should. However, i've noticed that when i press the power button to take it out of standby/turn the screen on the time is sometimes behind. Sometimes it will update after a few seconds or sometimes i will have to tap the clock, opening the settings for it to update. Is there any way of fixing this?
Also, while i'm here, i spent a week in france 2 weeks ago and had no signal the whole time i was there. According the the orange website both my (pay monthly) account and phone should be enabled in europe so i'm at a loss. Any ideas?
Im getting an ultra slow startup? Its loading messages and phonebook when it boots making it really slow? anyone have a solution?
Same thing here running Dutty's 3.0. We have two HDs in the office on the same rom. One loads all emails (several hundred) and loads all business and personal contacts (several hundred). While the other HD loads only the last few days of emails and 70 or so contacts. All other things being equal, the latter loads after a reset in approximately thirty seconds while the former takes 2-3 minutes, and in one casee 5 minutes to load.
Has anyone had problems with the clock, it sometimes seems to be lagging behind. Any solutions?
Regards
- SKBG
I have... and no solutions as yet except for soft reset.
The lag ranges between 20-30mins...
However, I've noted that the "problem" sometimes happens after I sync with my Mac. But since it happens only "sometimes", its a real pain to troubleshoot.
Yes, I have the problem too. But after a while, the time will automatically sync-up again. It is just pretty annoying.. Some times I got shocked when I look at the time.. haha..
Yep 20-30 min.
There's couple of noted reasons in other posts
- one, could be the ActiveSync
- again this could be due to system clock sync or outlook-exchange sync
- two, could be the Quick-GPS download, not sure of this though
So far only one solution seems to fix it to some extent, i.e. checking the automatically sync time with network in the Phone-settings, have to wait and see. Anyway, it atleast confirms the problem is with the s/w not the h/w
Thanks for the responses
Hi
Started noticing the same problem, sometimes it can be upto 30 minutes behind. Is this a TouchFlo bug displaying the time?
I do have the setting to sync with the phone network set and still doing it.
HTC need to get this fixed
Regards
Phil
I get this myself too, i think its something to do with outlook, becuase usually when i recieve new mail the clock is corrected
are there any apps for WM6.1 that sync your time to the atomic clock servers?
actually dont worry about it, i was reading some other threads on the clock problem and have downloaded gTimeSync, i'll see how it works out
I got that the other day. My watch said 6:01am, my Topaz said 5:45am....But when I looked at 7:30am, they were both the same. In that time, I had not connected it to anything, but I had turned the phone function on at 7am.
Hi all, I am using the latest cookie home tab and I love it!
However, it always take ages when booting up the phone to load the appointments section (around 2-3 minutes). I only have minimal amount of appointments about 10 per month for the coming 3 months only.
Is there any solution to this problem?
I'm running the MoDaCo JR5 ROM with no other modifications (rooted as standard etc) but for around 5 days now the calendar prompts from Google Now have been delayed. I have an appointment in my calendar for each day I work (shift rota and I'm horrendous for remembering which start time I'm on) so the first few days running stock, the time to leave reminders were a pleasant surprise. Since flashing the MoDaCo ROM these reminders have been delayed to the point that I'm already half way to work before my phone prompts me to leave.
E.g: Work start time of 7:30am and Google Now cards shows a travel time of 20 minutes. When it was working I would get a prompt 10 minutes before the 20minute time to travel (7am) but now I'm driving to work at 7:25 when it springs up saying I need to leave in 10 minutes!
I can't find any examples of this on the entire forum (or anything on Google for that matter!) Would anyone be able to help? My clock is set correctly btw, and I can't see any other issues what may be causing this so any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I have the same behavior on my devices... i'm completely stock and rooted. Galaxy Nexus and Nexus 10.
Since a couple of months the reminders to leave for work(i have an appointment in my calender for every day i go to work) come always after the appointment has started, but show that i had to leave around 30 minutes ago... very strange behavior... i am thinking if being late for work somehow confused the whole algorithm...
Any guesses?

I'm having a similar problem, and also stock rooted on my GSM Galaxy Nexus. Sometimes the notifications appear as expected (10-15 minutes before I have to leave), and sometimes they appear at or near the time I'm supposed to be there, telling me to leave some time in the past to arrive on time. This is only a recent issue - maybe the last 2-3 weeks, possibly since the update to 4.2.2?
Whatever is causing it, it's very annoying, since about a month before this started happening I stopped adding individual reminders on my calendar events that include addresses, making Google Now the ONLY reminder I receive.
I used to include less specific addresses (like "town high school", or "Tony's Pizza") on my calendar events, so I could just tap on the address in the event for navigation and let Google Maps figure out what I meant, but Google Now doesn't seem to like that too much. Have you done anything similar? I'm wondering if the existence of such events are contributing to the problem.
Google Now is still taking baby steps, it's about 6 major updates away from being moderately useful. There's no way I would depend on it for anything critical, it's still a cute toy that works about half the time.

Google Now completely ignored my most recent appointment. It came and went without Google Now making a peep. Very disappointing.
Same here like all of you.
