[Solved] Bell Galaxy Tab PLEASE CLOSE - Galaxy Tab General

Hi I have a Bell Galaxy Tab and I'm am unsure which Clockwork Recovery to flash, AT&T, Verizon or T-Mobile. I searched to see if I could find an answer to my question and I didn't I apologize if this has already been asked.
Thank you.
I flashed MoDaCo's kernel via Odin and it put on CWM for me so that is how I solved it.

You can flash Roto's (any of them)... i have a bell tab as well and have used Roto's as well as Modaca's now.. I went from the Bell Stock to Roto JME V3 (he's up to Roto JMI-v2 now)...
BTW, before you flash, is there any chance you could make a rotobackup of the bell tab? There's a few of us asking for it...
Here's the thread.
If you can do that, that would be very helpful!
Thank you.

I don't have the original Bell firmware since I did this.. If you want I can do a rotobackup of that but I don't see how that would be helpful. So there are no Clockwork Recoveries that work for Bell?

i'm moving this to the Q/A forum.
Please do not post in the dev forums unless it is directly development related.

For your info, I have a Canadian variant and I can confirm that the bootloader is already unlocked.
If any dev/themer need a dump, let me know.....

You said i337. That's the US AT&T version. If you have the Canadian variant, you have the i337M.

My bad,
I used to have the i747m S3 using AT&T ROM so I made confusion between ATT S4 variant (i337) and Canadian Rogers one (i337M).
bootloader a side, the only problem would be the dev of Omega giving permission for sharing said port. I know he didn't give permission for Omega on AT&T Note 2. If you did port it, you can use it yourself but you couldn't share with the community.

If you have any programming experience, or even if you have none, Android is a great place to start, and porting roms will give you the necessary skillset to do almost anything, especially if you have to do kernel work. It's not super hard to do, and you're on the best informational resource there is. I doubt Omega would allow it to be ported, but as RMXO said, you can do whatever you want as long as you don't try to release it and take credit for other people's work.

did you not do a backup
try sammobile
Here is the procedure
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2265477
Take into accoun the firmware version, if you have the lastest, there is no way of going back to an older one.
You'll have to use one ending on H8

SM-N915W8 Canadian NOTE EDGE

Hey just got my edge today, looks like there is very little going on as it was just released a few days ago despite it being out in the states for quite some time, the only difference I believe is the LTE in the Canadian version.
Anyways, coming from the note 2, 3 and 4 and the trtlecan version always being close to the trtletmo I decided to risk it and flash the tmo cf auto root and recovery despite there being no stock firmware laying around on sammmobile the others..
annnd I'm happy to report that I now have a TWRP recovery, rooted, SM-N915W8.
go ahead and follow the very detail steps in this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-edge/general/easy-steps-stock-odin-n915tuvu1anjl-sm-t2943993
MAKE SURE TO READ THE PART ABOUT IT FAILING (to flash cwm) AND THAT BEING OK being flashing TWRP
and then the BRIGHTNESS SETTINGS inside recovery which will look like you have sleep lock if you don't fix them before letting the screen timeout
and have all 4 files on hand before you start!
Awesome, thanks for the info, I was debating it but just was being a chicken. I'm glad everything worked out. Did you make a nand? If so did you flash the nand just to make sure everything was OK? Are your root apps working without issues.? I don't mind taking the risk...just wanna be sure

fantastic CONTRIBUTION!!! thank you for your input
ok so i took the plunge and follow the steps from the link in OP that @gundal shared about his success
I Too have a rooted SM-N915W8 (BELL VERSION but im on TELUS)
Thank you for your insight @gundal
Awesome glad it worked out for you too, now we can experiment with which kernel and os will boot without fear of bricking
Yes, I tried reflashing the backup and all is good.
Hyperdrive didn't work even with restoring our boot sector (kernel)

Haha, i was reading through and just found it funny.
Glad you guys are having luck with the Canadian model. I jumped the gun and imported one from Korea as soon as it was released and it's an awesome device!
Enjoy!
Were you guys able to flash a custom ROM? Which ROMS will work with the Canadian version? And which US Model number is 'equivalent' to the Canadian one?

Anyone try any T-Moble stuff? I didnt look myself but I ask because we all used the tmoble stuff for our old Canadian Note3s ... could be the same senerio. I think that Tmoble kernels should work..
There might be a version of Hyperdrive for tmoble..

What recovery are you using cause Im on twrp and I cant make a backup, cache partition cant be mounted either, are you having this prob too?....
Dont worry about it, someone else who had this problem fixed it by formatting cache - did that and everything went fine.

Tried flashing Hyperdrive Edge for T-Mo with both twrp (2.8.1.1) and cwm (6.0.5.1 Xiaolu) referenced in the root guide by OP. They flashed without error but I got bootlooped both times. Luckily backup/restore works for both recoveries.
Does anyone know of a way to get back to stock recovery after flashing cwm or twrp? Any known location of a stock image?

Go to sammobile web site...download the original firmware for your model and flash it. When u flash original firmware everything will be back to stock including recovery..and you will be able to receive ota update. To flash stock firmware...just use odin. Search this forum for instruction on how to flash using odin.

Yeah I know about sammobile, flashing via Odin etc. There's no stock firmware uploaded for the Canadian variants yet so I was wondering of an alternate method to flash the stock recovery. I tried extracting the recovery from the stock image via ADB shell, converting to tar.md5, then flashing with Odin but it failed....likely because I'm rooted. Guess I'll have to wait until the firmware gets uploaded. Thanks anyway.
Try contacting the sammobile team...and their forum..they maybe able to help..

Not yet. I check daily. I'm hoping someone will be able to capture it via Kies when Lollipop rolls out. It's only matter of time before sammobile gets it.

Arg, that really bites. Now I have a new phone I cant use at all. You'd think the firmware would be released when the phone was. Have you tried the other roms? I can't even gwt onto my internal sd to put them on the phone so I can try installing them. So frustrated.

Stock T-mobile on AT&T GS7 Edge??

Hey all.
I have searched and cannot find a specific answer.
I am switching from AT&T to T-Mobile. I have unlocked my device, i want to be able to flash the T-Mobile stock rom on my at&t variant.
Is this possible and how?
Thanks in advance.
Ryan
The ideas I'd try is first try to directly flash the Tmo firmware through Odin or Smartswitch. The other idea would be to go from At&t to U firmware and then to Tmo if the first didn't work, but I'm not sure if there would be any complications.
Ok so dumb question but I figured I'd ask. If I use Odin do I need to root?

No, you do not. Odin is worked through the PC to your phone which is in download mode.
so just to recap ...
no need to root.
just use odin with the stock tmobile rom, and flash it. and it essentially makes this phone a tmobile device being that i am sim unlocked??

Yeah but double check smart switch first. I'm wondering if you put in a T-Mobile SIM if it'll do the dirty work for you. With Odin you may also need a PIT file. Just double check on that as well.

ok, so can you elaborate? i thought the Samsung smart switch was for just transferring content of the device, not carriers. not to sound like a noob but my gs7 edge is the at&t variant.
Also where can I get a PIT file.
one last question.
i downloaded the stock rom, unzipped it. will i need to flash all the respective files in the .zip through odin?

It does transfer content but it also can reinstall firmware. I'm not sure if it'll help carrier variant switch over, but if it does I'm sure it's better than messing with Odin if you don't have to.
Ok got ya. So do I need to flash all the files in the stock zip or just the home one if I use Odin?
Update.
I got it to work.
I had to use the prince comey Odin and flash all the files. Worked like a charm.
So you flashed t-mobile official Odin restore to the G935A? First I hear of something like this happening. Post screenshots

There's several threads with people doing this. I have the 935a, with 935u firmware, and the T-Mobile modem. I'm only sim unlocked. No root, no unlocking, no nothing. Device is 100% better. Better battery, download speeds, reception, and no boat at all.

You can flash any US carrier s7 (edge or flat) factory image to any s7 as long as the bootloader is the same version, or if the version you are flashing is higher. You just cant flash to a lower bootloader version. Been this way since s7 released. I've been running the Verizon nougat and t mobile nougat on my ATT s7 edge and they both work wonderfully. I also found the stock t-mobile firmware ran better on my ATT phone than ATT firmware. No root required. Just research bootloader version before doing this. Right now they are all on v4 so no issues.
