Android 2.2.2 and CM stable - Droid Incredible General

Does anyone know if CM 6.1 is going to be updated to 2.2.2 to address the MMS fix? Seems like it would be a very simple update for us to flash?

Probably not due to cm7 being out

Well it was released for the nexus as a small update. Wonder if it can be flashed right over?

[Q] 2.2.1 worth it?

im seeing a few 2.2.1 roms on the android development vibrant forums, and i'm wondering what you guys think about it.
i'm currently running eugene's deadhorse test34, and kb1 modem, with original bionix v, and it's working the way i want it. gonna get a ffc eventually, but don't have the money for it right now.
is the difference between 2.2 and 2.2.1 worth the data wipe? or just keep rolling with a 2.2 rom?
****i actually meant for this to be in vibrant Q&A, move if necessary*****
Theres a2.2.1? WHERE?!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=952910
I didn't notice any real difference other than slightly better battery life.
psh 2.2.1....
Cm7 ftw

Where can I get cm7 for the vibrant? That's the 2.3 one, right? Is it fully stable and include a working 2.3 kernel(with bln)?

2.2.1 offers hardware accelleration and fixes a few bugs.

are you saying that this wipes the internal or external sd card?
--i though it just wiped data (of course like most roms) and wipes the laucher pro backup?
You wont see an appreciable difference. I'm happy with 2.2 and will probably only switch roms if the next point releases based on 2.2 source are particularly compelling. I've tried a few 2.2.1 roms, but they've all been built with i9k source so they've got their quirks. Definitely usable but the little problems amount to a rom that can be annoying to use daily.

Look in the q and a section of vibrant. It has a working vibrant kernel and scrizz has the flashable modem. Everything works fine, cept for the home and search button but there's an app to put it on the home screen. All support you need is in scrizz's thread in general section. Running it now, its the fastest thing I've ever used.

Cyanogen released rc4

Cyanogen mod is so confusing...I haven't seen anything on 6 lately, so I guess eeryone moved on to cm7, but what exactly is cm7?
Cyanogen releases an official rc andit should work on all phones running cm? So he's like the central hub for updates? Is that why official cm support is needed?
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA Premium App
Lol.. cm7 is based off Gingerbread, cm6 is based off Froyo..
And of course your not going to see anything off cm6. That's almost like saying now that froyo is out for the epic, devs will continue to release 2.1 roms.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
Cm6 was based on Froyo 2.2
Cm7 is based on the current android build gingerbread 2.3
so you can see why we gave up on cm6...
the galaxy S lines don't really get support from cyanogen i believe...

Yeah last time I checked I don't think I seen one galaxy s under its supported device section

Yeah I know the sgs isn't supported and that's why our guys are doing it on their own, but when the epic is able to get cm7 to run on par with official cm7 and it gets officially supported by cyanogen and crew, will that mean whenever he releases an update, everyphone (epic, htc's,blah) that run cm7 will be able to run it day 1 without no problems?
This is purely a curious question

No it just means that once we have official CM acceptance Team Douche and co will work to fix any issues with our phone in future builds
What effectively CM tries to accomplish is to be more then a rom but a whole Android distribution...similar to how there are multiple linux distributions...so their goal is to have 1 single OS function across all devices...similar to how you have on a PC where you choose the OS and just install it..
Only when SGS is fully working and complaint with CM standards will it show up there.

I find that extremely unlikely, there is no Honeycomb source code from which to build.

He's just following the current 'naming scheme' of cyanogen. Cm6 was froyo, cm7 is gingerbread; since honeycomb is the next update it'll follow suit and be cm8 if they move to it.

They have leaks in the past, we don't.

It's mostly done (and it's awesome), only non-working thing right now is the camera. There is a non-technical issue that needs to be sorted before we can release anything for Tegra2, though.

I'm giddy with excitement.
So what does that mean for us zoom owners?
Sent from my Xoom using Tapatalk
That since they are both tegra 2 it is possible we could get it ported over
Sent from my SCH-I510 using XDA App
Also to me it means that they were able to get the Radio enabled in ICS for Mobile Data, whereas it's still being worked on w/ the current ICS builds for the Xoom.
And hoping once it's up and running on the Galaxy Tab the port time to the Xoom should be minimal.
check this guys
cm is on its way for the xoom

Gad, you're such an optimist! :fingers-crossed:
I've got the notification pending, but I just wont update my Tab as long as I cant make sure I'll be able to root it instantly..: I just NEED root.. proxy purposes...
Super Easy Root method seem to work only with Honeycomb.
Does anyone went across any way to root stock ICS builds?

Upgrade to Canuck version???
OK, so I am running the Italian ROM and have rooted my Rogers 7500 tab and all is running very well; will I gain anything by "upgrading" to the newly released Canadian ROM?
Thanks
For what it was worth I was running a rooted tab with CWM installed and the update to 4.04 went smooth as butter for me, and it even kept root and all my apps that require root. No issues whatsoever.
It is MUCH better now than with 3.2 btw
Ota didn't work for me. I had to use kies

Lol I hate that the 3G people are able to get it before the wifi people. I initially gotten the wifi tablet because I was under the assumption that Samsung would release it first because Rogers would have to do their thing to it which would take twice as long.
Oh well my Nexus 7 is easing the stress of Samsung.
Rogers 7500, took the upgrade via Kies, all went good, installed cwm 5.then rooted all is good...... Sent from my GT-P7500R using xda premium
I got tired of waiting when I heard the update was pushed back to September so I went ahead and installed the Pershoot CM10 rom. Now its going to be a tough decision to go back and install the official ICS update. Either way, getting the Tab off Honeycomb made a huge difference.

Reference?
If you mean Telus' delay (on http://www.androidauthority.com/telus-ics-update-samsung-galaxy-tab-10-1-galaxy-tab-8-9-107880/ ), then please say so...

And Rogers released 2 days ago according to OP. Where do they find this kind of farfetched mis-information? I know that all dates are tentative, but this is where they wet their thumbs, stick em up in the air and guess what weather it is in the Antarctic...
I am still hoping for a very near P7510 ICS release, or CM10, with limited Camera functionality, will be the way to go... Not that I won't go that path anyhoo...
With cm9 (7510) pretty much fully functional now I'm done with my weekly restores to 3.2 . When the 7510 ics releases I'll grab it just to have for warrenty purpose and upload it for people who forget to backup before they play but all the apps I use from the stock us rom work on cm9 from TB backups. Heck can even install apex launcher and touchwiz addon for the Samsungish look :good:
I am running stock US and am already over my warranty period. Lol, screw the wait! There is so much good stuff here I dont think I could go back if I tried. Once the stock firmware is available tho I will do what bertie is doing and just grab the TAR.
Cool

To be fair, they released 5 days before September. I fail to see any far fetched mis-information.
I mean they could have held the update until September 10th and still been in early September.

Congratulations! Seems even Telus' release date is before the 'official date'...
Now us Wifi guys will have to wait some more weeks before we are deemed noticed and get the non-carrier ICS update.
I'll say it again lol. I gave up on a wifi OTA a long time ago. I am on stock tweaked US ICS and super happy.
