Did you just back up the app or app and data? I think there was an update not too long ago that allowed for when user apps were backed up it would also do the data. I somewhat remember early on saving only the app and losing data as well though.

Titanium backup

I tried backing up Angry Birds w/Data, backup went fine but not the restore .. Angrybirds FCd on startup after the restore. Did not try to re-install the APK tough..
It works when I backup the data files.

Worked for me as well. I had to restore the app from titanium then restore the data separately.
works fine for me too
Alright.....Thanks for your replies....
It worked also for me!

How to save applications and data for new rom

Titanium Backup from the market will restore apps + data. But there may be problems when changing from 2.3.15 or .320 to .340 when restoring data.

As suggested Titanium is a excellent tool for back ups so isn't Google restore for Market programs.
When or if you restore with Titanium and can restore "old" data & settings which will cause issues. I use it as a safety net also to restore my game scores , levels and favorites . Google does the rest in 5-10 minutes depending on amount of programs you have.
Thanks I will try both titanium and google hopefully no lose, and backup my whole system before I do it.

Great tool, a must have, worth the few bucks as a backup of a backup ,
One time my SD crapped out my online backup through Backup Pro saved my butt.
Titanium pro has dropbox sync which is really nice for your backups just in case you end up needing to reformat your sd card.

Rooting epic after froyo 2.2 update

Has anyone Successfully rooted there epic after the 2.2 update? If the phone was rooted prior to the update does it have to be rooted again? If it does what method did you use.

i rooted the 1st attempt using the method in the Epic Wiki. Very fast and very easy. Verified rooted with superuser and Titanium Backup (restored all apps to previous state)

When you restored, did you download the app and then use titanium and click restore data + app?
I'm doing this with angry birds and it won't restore for me. Just force closes. Titanium says it restored successfully
One click method 2.5.5 worked like a charm. The only thing I used titanium backup for was a couple app settings like handcent as I'd rather just reinstall my apps from the market, which by the way flew compared to doing it on eclair.

I always Root immediately and the only app I download is Titanium backup. I then do the complete apps+data restore. It resets all my apps to their previous state (angry birds games saves included) and my home screens etc.

Are you using the free version? Cause if I don't install the app first, let's say angry birds, it won't show up in the list and there is no way for me to restore. I must be missing something...

I use the paid version. Paid Titanium Backup is a must have in my opinion, on Android phones.
+1 on TitaniumBackup pro
but have u changed sd cards?? or used a different gmail acct??
reason i ask, is bcuz as long as u have Titanium Backup(once again, pro edition suggested) as long as its the same sd card, at the bottom of the apps list, any restore points thats not already installed can be restored from here.
so im guessing that if a different sd card or sumthin is used, might cause the problem(s) stated

Wow, with that few app, I don't think it should take that long to backup with Titanium Backup or My Backup. I have around 250+app and both Titanium/My Backup back up my app in less 5 minutes. I think there's something wrong with your SDcard.
idk i just got this one after my last card died on me
I'd suggest checking the card for errors on PC plus defragmentation (mydefrag has flash drive mode),
then you could try increasing card cache size in Android:
- SD Tools to measure RW speed before & after
- SD Speed Increase to set cache size to 2048 or whatever works best for you

Photos should be somewhere in DCIM folder on your card, so no need for backup app, when it's easier to copy it manually wherever you need.
Apps and settings are backed up by Titanium, with the exception of those installed on card (if I'm correct).
As for playlists, I'm not sure, it may depend on particular player you're using, but I shouldn't expect any problems with Titanium as well - all in all it has separate mode for system/app data and settings backup.

[Q] GO Backup vs Titanium Backup

I happened to see GO Backup on the play store and was wondering if anyone's tried it yet.
Does it work as well as Titanium (App + data backup)??
I'm kinda irritated with Titanium because when I'm restoring like 50 apps, I have to wait and press the Install button 50 times which takes ages
uhm im also still kinda new to this but i got titanium backup pro and also made a backup so this is kinda interesting.
Did u try settings > batch?
Scroll down, recovery, fix all missing apps. Is that something?
im dutch so maybe the translation is not exactly good.
I use the free version of titanium.. and I do the batch thing but restoring all the apps is a pain. Takes almost half an hour which is why I almost never factory reset before flashing roms

I use Go backup, and backing up/restoring (app+data) is pretty easy, quick and accurate. the UI is pretty cool too.
i have not used titanium, but as im pleased with GB, im not going to try titanium.
Titanium backup full version is ultimate, nothing else can replace it.
I consider my mobile as incomplete without Titanium and root explorer.

Same here
But I've switched from root explorer to x-plore and its really good. Give it a try.
I switched from root explorer to x-plore and then to Solid Explorer
Solid Explorer is the exactly how should an explorer look like
Titanium backup is the original and best, I don't think go backup is ready to compete but its good for those who can't afford pro, anyone tried ultimate backup by jrummy on market? That one looks good

By the way: with the paid version of Titanium Backup you don't have to press a single Button when doing batch-operations. Works like a charm. Just press start and everything gets installed by itself...

Yes he meant that. Btw when I restore apps at some point titanium freezes and I must restart the phone. It's annoying.

Go Backup is free and it does exactly that. One press and it backs up all of my data (sms, emails, call history, wi-fi settings etc) and all my apps. Then, after superwiping and flashing a new rom, I just grab it from play store again, and restore my backup in one press, let it sit until it's done, and it's as though I didn't wipe anything at all
good call on Go backup if your rooted its works really nicely and excellent interface to boot and free even better
i like free
thumbs up also for solid explorer
If you have purchased the pro version:
Titanium Backup
If you want a free App:
Go Backup
I like Apps like Go backup they dont do many things but the ones they do are perfect
If you want a quick and flawless method for Restoring your apps use Go Backup
If you want more Options etc choose Titanium Backup
And Yes solid explorer is great
There is one thing that GoBackup does that Titanium doesn't (I can find it anyware)... Backing up your widgets/homescreens... I haven't tried it yet, but that's a big deal for some...
Titanium backup will allow you to backup AppData only if you want. Go Backup does not have this option.
Go Backup will allow you to Batch Backup your own choice of apps (hand-selected). Titanium can only do ALL APPS as batch, or you can backup your own selection of apps one by one, but not in batch mode.
I use GO backup because I only have about 10 apps that I would like to backup and I don't want to go through them one by one. I wish GO would also let you just backup the AppData and not include the APK. This would make batch operations faster.
