But what they really need as a complimentary product is a 3D video frame, like in all the movies about the future where 3D video frames are the norm.
How do we get this message to Sprint?
How do you know Sprint is going to announce 3d phones?
LOL using this logic
Sprint is going to announce LTE!!!!.....someday....
ATT and Verizon add more fees.....someday....
T-Mobile gets bought by somebody.....someday....

LOL. Hard to see sprint calling it in for LTE. The have spent so much money on wimax that it will probably push them under if that happens.
ATT & Verizon is automatic with the fees. This will happen sometime before March roles in. LOL.
T-Mobile will probably get brought out by ATT. Just because they both use GSAM network. But then again, T-Mobile is really big in Europe , so they will probably sell T-Mobile USA.

I have read a lot of threads about what is Sprint going to announce & every single one of them has people saying it's going to be the iphone or a 4G Iphone. Use Google & find how much $ Verizon has & will shell out to get the Iphone. Yes they will make much more in three long run, but I just don't see Sprint spending billions of dollars just to get the Iphone which would not even be an industry first. Don't u think if Apple was going to make a 4G iphone they soul have implemented lte in their Verizon version?

+1 on the iPhone 4g. Sprint big money is going to their network.
Sprint will have both LTE and Wimax, Wimax isn't a wasted investment. They can do both.
Sprint squashed the rumor on the iphone coming to their network via twitter weeks ago. How do people still think this is the big announcement?
I believe Verizon is paying for exclusivity for them and AT&T only to have it for the next few years.
Hopefully its about an update for current Android capable phones to get Gingerbread finally.
With Sprint, I guarantee it won't be a "big announcement". Mediocre announcement at best...
hmm
an iphone 4 with wimax vs a 3d crap...
Wonder which one is better.
Which is better? Anything with Android is better. Why put down 3d phone, especially when you haven't seen it. And don't compare it with TVs, it might be a different experience. I am very interested. Much more interesting then a ho-hum friggin iPhone fer chissakes. Boy, why lower you bar for tech. It should be something new and potentially cool. Just my opinion.
Sent from my Evo
I had a conversation with Sprint and although they did not say what the announcement was the rep did say its an industry first. The iPhone isn't an industry first although a 4G iPhone may be. If it was something to do with the iPhone Apple would probably announce it and not Sprint. Apple like to run their own rodeos. A 3D phone would be a first and if its anything like the Nintendo DS 3D it would be kind of cool but I don't know what platform they would run it on. Windows phone and Android aren't designed for this type of thing.

AT&T isn't getting it...
Well, you can run the unlocked one on AT&T using an AT&T SIM, you just don't get 3G access cause the phone is tri-band not quad, and only meant for T-Mobile's 3G.
Got beat to the punch...
What keeps me waiting patiently is talks of qualcom bringing out dual-core 1.5ghz snapdragon cpu later this year, it'll make the nexus old news before you know it.
Dual core snapdragon would be insanity. Great stuff. I'll tell you something though. I am upset with the fact that Sprint isn't getting any of these cool phones either but they historically never have. I mean Palm is a little different because they have always loved Sprint but historically Sprint has never really had the latest and greatest. This could be a good thing though. I mean think about it. Sprint knows Android is big. They also know 2010 is their coming out party for WiMax. My theory is that Sprint is waiting for HTC to come out with a WiMax or EVDO/WiMax hybrid android phone. I expect by summer or, more likely, fall 2010 we will have the latest and greatest WiMax capable 1Ghz+ Android 2.1 (2.5 if it's released by then) phone. I figure by then I can sell my Hero and, assuming I have a job by then, by the coolest phone.
It's all a waiting game. Sad but that's what it all comes down to.
Yeah, Gizmodo has rumors of a Sprint WiMax HTC Android phone.. and from now on obviously HTC will have Snapdragons or better on all their flagship phones. We'll have a better phone than Nexus One with WiMax, which no other carrier will have.. thinkabout it.
In the mean time, embrace in the fact that we had the Hero when nobody else did.

any word on when these will hit the market ????
Agree'd, once we get 2.1 it will be great.
Sprint already carries smart phones from Motorola, Samsung, LG, Blackberry and HTC, plus they just added the HTC Touch Pro2. How many smart phones do they need? People need to stop shopping equipment and start thinking about service, rate plans, Monthly fee's, coverage areas and customer assistance, not to mention the reputation of the carrier. Damn, we all pay a monthly bill, its not for the phone we use, its the service plan we all have that compliments whatever phone equipment you want or have. Sprint has given us a nice selection to pick from imo.
Moving on, next topic pls........
looking forward to a 4g HTC Bravo!

one problem with that statement......4g wont be "mostly everywhere" fo a couple more years. Planned for 2010 are Boston, Houston, New York, San Francisco and Washington, D.C. and only a handful of other smaller cities.

What's your gut feel?
All of the poll options seem extremely relevant.
SVDO - Technically the HTC Thunderbird (Verizon EVO) is going to support this, at least that's what leaked documents propose. It'd make sense for Sprint to launch something similar.
Nationwide 4G coverage - It's really starting to pick up, they just lit up 4g in my area and i've heard a lot of reports of new 4g locations going in all over the country
CMDA iPhone - You have to admit that the technology is there, all it would take is an agreement with Apple and Sprint could support the iPhone just as well as Verizon. I find this one to be the least likely, although possible
Dual core phones - I'm sure I'm not the only one that noticed that ATT / Verizon stole the show and Sprint had no new phone announcements at CES... It seems likely that they'd try and sign on with a handset manufacturer to get some competition going for ATT / Verizon and their Tegra handsets.
Wow, none of those options are "industry firsts"... good job!
Add a 3D display phone option and I'll vote.
wow and not a one cept the 3d phone is anything android related. people need to get it through there head the announcement will have something to do with android phone/tablet with the blogs getting invites.
if iphone is announced then it will deff NOT be the only announcement, though the likelyhood they even announce it to begin with is very low with having android blogs there.
Funny. I already started a poll like this haha.

You really think Sprint is going to launch and industry first with their announcement?
Nationwide 4g coverage actually would be an industry first..... and technically Verizon hasn't gone public about SVDO... so that'd be an industry first for the US too
.... you guys really think a 3d phone is going to appealing? I think this 3d stuff is blown way out of proportion. I've seen it, used it.... its not really that impressive.

Sprint always does this they get a big flagship phone but then they let them get long in the tooth or a they Target to take on another phone, also they really bank on that phone instead of diversifying
Examples
HTC touch
Samsung instinct
Palm pre
And it looks like the evo will follow the trend atleast it was spec'd decently well to start instead of being DOA like before
I think Sprint is banking on this echo more than they should

When HTC announces new phones, expect Sprint to get rebranded versions months later (see: EVO, Shift, Hero).
seems like sprint always focuses their attention to one or two phones
I wish Sprint would come out with one really nice new phone already, like the evo, but updated to be high-end in the newer market...
The best device, it seems, that was announced by HTC is the Flyer. That looks pretty cool.
and when sprint gets a new android whoever knows when later cellsouth will get it
You think Motorola will finally give Sprint some attention? Verizon brought the majority of Motorola's mobile revenue but now that Verizon will probably be spending the majority of their advertising coin on promoting the Iphone Motorola must be switching gears, as we starting to see with the introduction of the Atrix on At&t.
I'm also a little split with my upgrade. I don't know whether to upgrade on Sprint and risk my 4g device becoming obsolete when Sprint adopts LTE, as one of the top CEO has admitted they are considering, or jump ship and join T-mobile.
Whats your guys opinion on your next upgrade?

Sorry about that went really of track . It meant to be a comment on how Sprint next flagship device will probably be a Motorola device and not a HTC device.
So, here's the situation... My contract is up with Sprint and trying to decide whether to stay or go. If I decide to stay with Sprint will probably go with the EVO 3d, want to stay loyal to the EVO, best phone ever. Or should I have a change of heart and go with something else or even swap out to another carrier? Too many choices.
Q: What would you do and what Phone would you get next???
Well why don't u just wait for the EVO 3d to come out and read the reviews ....if its good the buy it....if jot the go with another phone like the nexus s or maybe a different carrier.
Pick your carrier, pick one that gives you good service for the price and value for where you live. That should always be your number one concern when it comes to a cell phone, not which phone you want.
You need to decide that before you start getting phone recommendations.
I think if you are up for upgrade and your contract also ends soon, like Pao23 said, first make sure you are with a carrier that offers good service. People talk about AT&T being terrible, but I live in North Carolina and the service is about as good as any since Cingular started in this area. Sprint is pretty good where I live, except terrible at my office. If I was out of contract I would change.
In terms of phone I think any of the 1Ghz+ dual core phones are a smart buy. Evo 3D, LG 2x, or even the Atrix. Any of those are going to be like the Evo and not feel old for a while. They will probably get more OS updates. Anything older is going to leave you wanting in a year.
That has been the nice thing about the Evo. The Droid X, Droid 2, Inspire 4G, MyTouch 4G, Atrix, etc. have all come out, but never left me feeling like my phone was old and janky.
Not sure about u but sprint has the best deal I think. I pay 69.99 + 10.00 -23% off for me and +5.00 for sprint to home. So the sprint to home goes to my google voice number and with the google voice app every call I make is free. And like others say at&t stinks I think, I live in MN. And with the new HTC Evo coming out that should make you want to stay lol.
The only other provider to think about would be t mobile unless you want to pay big money. I dont love sprint but I sure got a good deal and the service is great here.

I voted stay with sprint and keep the Evo. It's still one of the highest rated phones on the market, and the best phone for Sprint (assuming you like sense or don't like slide-outs). Sprint may not have the best coverage but they are so much cheaper than anyone else in the contract game. When the Evo 3D comes out I may trade my Evo in for it, but that depends on the reviews.
I would probably wait unless you wanted to switch carriers. Let the dual cores roll out so can see what's up with them.
Perhaps we will see a dual core nexus
Saw this as a comment on an androidcentral post about the within:
Listen up and listen good cuz I don't lie or play when it comes to this stuff... Sprint Is kicking but this year and will continue that but kicking like none of you can imagine. I am a sprint employee work at the West Hollywood Store in CA. It's the flagship store for the west coast Dan Hesse frequents our store device's come through our store sometimes up to 5 months before a rumor about it hits the internet. This is a HUGE year for sprint if you understand business in the least bit you know corporate change takes time. If you can't see the changes sprint has made and continue to make for the better than your just blind or don know what to look for. I know some of you may call me bias and your right I am. But only to one thing and that's customer experience. I love that SPRINT by maintaining is price plans is forcing AT& T and T-Mob todo stuff like the 70 dollar unlimited data even if it is capped. Yes thee above pic is the GS2 i've held it. YES it will be 4G yes we are getting a keyboard version as well as the standard GS2. Yes that phone will also be 4G and dual core not single core. The its not for certain it will be the epic2 or called epic at all. Yes the GS2 is a vicious competitor for the Evo 3D from personal experience I still think the Evo 3D is better. I prefer sense over touch anything I trust htc more than samsungs when it comes to mobile anything and the internal update system htc uses not having to wait for sprint like the last two patches they did for the 3d speaks volumes. Add htcsense.com to that and better build quality and you begin to edge out the competition. Admittedly not by much with the GS2 but still its an edge. As far as the YouTube comparisons of the GS2 to the Sensation to gauge it again the 3D, don't make me laugh the 3D itself makes the sensation look the same way. In no way am I denying the amazingness that is the GS2 I just PREFER htc that's all. Last but not least the GS2 is really really fast it was a tad and I do mean a TAD faster than my 3D but..... My Evo is jam packed 6 email accounts syncing about 80 apps 7 custom scenes setup the whole 9 and the GS2 was but naked not even signed into a gmail account. I say that today this when you watch these comparison vids take into account what may or may not be on the devices in question in terms of data info etc... Once you get these devices in hand your speed milage Will vary depending on how much you throw at your device. It's a good time to be with sprint I'm not even going to get into the improvements happening to the network ill save that for another post. And oh yeah in case you were skeptical on the matter we are absolutely getting the iphone so tell all your apple juice drinking buddies that VZ and AT&T's are numbered it'll be here before you know it. I trust nothing of what that guy wrote. Everytime someone claims to have advanced knowledge they are wrong completely. Why the eff would sprint bring rumored phones around a retail store before they are even announced? That just makes no sense. I have dealt with enough sprint employees who "have the scoop" and turn out to be collosal nitwits before to believe that some random sprint store employee got the scoop on sprint getting the iphone.
I do think he is a sprint employee though because every sprint employee I have ever dealt with is a huge fanboy of the evo.

I haven't heard the details he has shared, but my corp rep brought the regional network rep out who knows all the tech updates and all the phone releases. He said the biggest thing sprint has in the pipe is the network updates. Everyone is getting phones, they are rolling out new tower hardware making speeds, signal quality and increase the number of clients able to hit the servers. He told me it would be a 2 year rollout, but we had 36 tower updates last month. He said there are about 40 new devices rolling out and they would rock!
Ill buy what that guy was selling

"Let's eat, grandma."
"Let's eat grandma."
Punctuation saves lives.

I haven't heard the details he has shared, but my corp rep brought the regional network rep out who knows all the tech updates and all the phone releases. "I helped my uncle jack off a horse."
"I helped my Uncle Jack off a horse."
So does capitalization.

I work for a regional electronics and appliance chain, that is becoming a full device sprint dealer this fall. At a training event for sales reps the sprint trainer brought up an iphone 5 variant for sprint a few times. Interesting to hear it from this guy as well. Although if I had to guess, they are both misreading it, and all we are likely to see is the new prepaid iphone version coming out for virgin.

I hate when people say the EVO 3d is a better phone than SG2 even though across the board SG2 eats 3d. Granted htc sense 3.0 is sexy, but MIUI is better
Sprint's overall phone lineup is strong with or without the iPhone. It has been for a while. The issues are that they have to quickly maintain and improve their network and hold prices and plans to the attractive level they are now. I don't believe in corporate hype, I believe in underpromising and overdelivering. Sprint did that in the years I've been with them.
Now they have to continue so they can grow and poach away customers who get sick of being robbed by Verizon and AT&T. But without the network that's going to be even harder to do. Take my neighborhood for example--coverage here is poor, Sprint probably has no customers other than people like me who figured out how to force roam, or those who have Airaves. And it's doubtful any new towers are planned, so they better get busy on these network improvement miracles, because reasonably priced unlimited 4G makes no difference to those who can't get it.
