Hey,
Here's the file to install Gallery 3D to the Desire.
You have 2 ways of installing:
1) Install Android USB Driver (search for it) run the following commands:
adb install <filename and path>
2) Copy to SD Card, open in a file manager (make sure "install from unknown sources" is checked in menu) (untested)

hmm isnt the Android 3D gallery is inside the Desire by default? or is that something else?

No it includes Sense's gallery "Photos".
It just gives you 2.1 style gallery that's on the nexus one which looks better than the default for HTC, just install using astro file manager and off you go just place a short cut on one of the screens.
If anyone can figure out how to get launcher 2 style all programs and keep sense ui that be top

Sorry, what is Gallery3D and why do I want it?
It works but not well, for example pressing the camera icon, will crash the application and prompt a force close, there also seems to be some issue with the screen going black for a few seconds.

Ive been trying to get Launcher2 working, but still get crashes when selecting it
any ideas?

Edit: Direct link to camera is the only thing I have found which doesn't work in gallery3d so far.

Yea but i want to develope and test apps on it. i could also run apk files and let it install on its phone via eclipse.
Eclipse cant recognise it via the ddms.
Bet you aint got a clue what im on about

Eclipse is an IDE, you can develop/run/deploy jar files from it to the phone (also apk I assume). NetBeans works too with JAR files, not sure with APK though.
BTW, you cannot transfer the APK file directly to your phone and install it from there?
Does the 3D gallery replace the Sense one? Or is it just an alternate app?

I *think* he's trying to test his own code via the phone which I'm not sure is possible or not, pretty sure you have to use the emulator.

You'd get 2 apps, "photos" which is the sense UI version and "Gallery" which is Gallery3D

If you know what im on about, have you guys got it hooked up to eclipse successfully on windows 7 OS?
btw, you can transfer the apk file directly to your phone but you cant launch it.

Your spot on. i want to test apps on my phone and yes you can do it on a nexus one, G1 and the hero.

Are you saying that you can't test your own apps on the Desire through the standard developer tools? That's more than strange. brummiestevens said he could install apps via adb, so testing your own apps should work.
These are the STOCK FROYO apps from OFFICIAL 2.2
IF you want to request a app, please Post telling me the correct app name, if theres a specific firmware you want it from, and i'll try my best to look for it.

HOW TO INSTALL THESE APPS.
Put these apps on the sd card, or download them directly from phone.
when you click it it will say application not installed.
You must get a file manager, such as ASTRO, or ROOT EXPLORER
and move these .apk files to system/app/...
ALL APK FILES FROM POST 1, AND 2 ARE IN THIS ZIP.
APPS THAT ARE NOT ON POST 1 OR 2 ARE IN POSTS ARE IN NORMAL POSTS, AND THESE ARE THE ONES ADDED SO FAR.

The Sim's LIMITED Edition (WORKS ON VIBRANT ONLY) - all downloads are on post.

its just the .apk, so people on custom roms, but have avatar on sd card, they can use that .apk with the sd card movie.

The Sims is a problem because it is two APKs. One is the launcher and does nothing without the actual game. The game is too HUGE to post, and might be considered warez, even though it has been confirmed it will only run on a true T959. So if you want that one the best solution at the moment it to get it from the market since EA recently released it.

On astro click back until it says back 1 more time to exit.
That's where u find system then find app or apps, then paste or move it in there.
To the version of swype question, this is from the latest official froyo.
Edit : I will add thinkfree AND sims if a mod tells me its okay.
Ill add sins by giving sd card data
Not to self advertise BUTTTTTTTTTTTTTT http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=894794 has this ability to add all the stock apps you want and it will package them in a pretty flashable zip for you, too

Can someone tell me what i'm doing wrong. I've downloaded the memo apk used astro to move it to system/app rebooted and I still don't have the memo app. I've even tried to install it using open app manager in astro and it says "there is a problem parsing the package". I'm using Nero 5 w touchwiz. Any ideas?????????????????

Have you confirmed that the apk is in fact in /system/app and that it was not a failed copy?
I have noticed that when using DroidExplorer to do pushes, if the permissions are not correct it acts the same as if it copied ok. I usually end up having to verify using a on phone file manager like Astro or Root Explorer that the file is actually there.
after rebooting again i checked astro and it is in the system/app folder. i did notice that the rest of the files in system apps have the size, date, and something that says -r- (dont really know too much about astro so i have no idea what that means). but i did notice that the memo apk has the size, date, and instead of -r- is has -rw. anyone know what that means?
I cannot get or find an apk for slacker 3.0+ for the transformer. I am able to install an old version via amazon store, but nothing through the regular or online market...
Really do need slacker...

You can use Astro file manager (free). Hit Menu>Tools>App Manager/Backup>Select your app to backup and hit backup button.
you can now fine the backup app in the folder call Backups/apps
you could also use Rootexplorer and navigate to data/app
So I just installed EH06 (from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1221253) and it's running well, but it's loaded up with a bunch of stock apps I'd like to get rid of. Is there a easy way to get rid of these apps? (sprint tv, nascar, etc) I basically want to barebones it as much as possible.

I use super manager, free on the market, to remove unwanted stock apps.
I tried deleting the files from \system\app but wasn't able to get rid of them. (using super manager)
Hit menu, goto setup, check root function (I also have silent installer checked) then next time you enter system/app/ it should ask if you want it to be r/w, select that and it should allow you to remove them.
Had root already enabled, had to get into settings and hit the 'switch system r/w' settings and then it was fine. Just browsed to /system/app and got rid of the junk i didn't want to keep. thanks for the help/reply!

I use root explorer or adb (adb is a pc app).

Here is another approach if you are willing to reflash download this Rom: Samsung-Epic-EH06-DeOdex-Update then open the zip file using 7-zip, winzip or a similar archive program. Afterward open the system folder and then the app folder, then delete or add the .apk file you want or don't close the archive and save your progress. Afterward flash this Rom Via CWM and then you are done.

Is it really that easy?
Will it work with the tar/ODIN as well?
i did root it, install stickmount. tried with both r-explorer and es explorer. the usbstorage folder showed up alright, yet files of certain type simply won't display, so far they are .apk and .dwg. it's almost like they are filtered. i checked the displaying hidden files option was ticked.
someone please help!

You have tried 2 root browsers already, I use ROM toolbox which is also a root browser with many other functions built in. Its the best app of its kind that I have used. If it doesn't find the files, then you can you can un install it.
Its a root browser for exploring root files.
